Wasn't sure where to put this and didn't see a thread already, but the demo for Metroid Confrontation was released earlier. I gave it a go a little while ago, and was extremely impressed:

Played a bit of it.
Graphics are excellent all around - everything looks and feels like Metroid. They are almost too crisp and clean - everything animates so quickly and moves so fast. I've heard similar complaints about games getting remade in the past. For example, when Marathon came to XBLA, some people said it was overly smooth, and caused a bit of disorientation. Same kind of feeling here, but it's a minor issue.
It's more difficult to control with a keyboard, but I can't fault the guy for that. Still plays like Metroid, though it has the arm/ledge grab mechanic from whatever GBA game had it. So that's something I'm still not wholly used to with the series, but it's put to good work here. Bomb jumping seems to be a bit easier too. There's a small maze where it is required, and I was dreading it as I looked at it, but if you just pump bombs as fast as you can, you'll be able to get through.
Music was serviceable, and was sort of a remix of the Metroid theme, but it wasn't great. But I'm not going to worry too much about that.
All in all it was excellent, and I can't wait for a full release. This is such a superb series (in both incarnations) that I keep hoping the advent of digital distribution will bring about new titles.

That's why I dodn't understand these guys (Metroid II and Chrono Trigger remake). They'll talk about the demo and then get shut down before they can do anything else. They should keep their mouths shut until the final version is done.

Sounds like it's an indy PC game, so it will probably never come out.
Metroid II needs a proper remake bad. Hopefully this will come out, but unlikely as Nintendo will probably shut them down.

Yeah with project like this you don't release anything about it until it's finished. Then even if Nintendo orders them to take it down people still have it and will still distribute it. After all, once something is released on the Internet there are no take backs. ;)
