It's very good series, and pay no attention to the craptastic, mangled version Fox showed you. The series can be somewhat diddifcult to understand in the beginning I suppose but after 4 or 5 episodes you'll have a good handle on things and it does get btter as it moves along.
This must be a re-release though as the boxset of Vision of Escaflowne has been availble for quite sometime, but it was a limited edition release and since has gone out of print I believe. I also see where this contains the movie apparently, so getting the whole series and movie for $60 would be an excellent deal IMO and I highly reccomend it for anyone who remotely likes anime.

Sweet deal. Escaflowne is definitely worth $60. I've seen the series, but not the movie. I was almost going to buy it, but now I'll wait for this re-release. I hope they post a picture of how the boxart is going to look soon.

The original contained only the TV series on 8 DVDs; no movie. A buddy of mine picked up what he thought was the legitimate boxset in a shop up in San Francisco for $130, but it was only 4 DVDs in an unbranded box. To this day, he still refuses to acknowledge that it's a bootleg.

Damn talk about getting hosed, those bootlegs go for about what, 30 on ebay? Bad enough he bought a bootleg but then added insult to injury by overpaying.

If it's still sealed and all you should get this new set and maybe hold onto the ultimate Edition. It's not worth too much now, but it too recently went out of print and will likely be worth something in the future.

Right now, the original Escaflowne boxset is going for $200 at the Bandai Entertainment Web site.
The re-release is going for $100, which means that this $60 sighting is really quite the deal.

It is definitely worth the money!
It is an excellent series, which is odd for it's genre.
I bought the LE set, and the UE motion picture, and have enjoyed it for some time now. I would gladly pay what I did again!
You should definitely check out 12 Kingdoms, as well, if you think you have even a thread of taste.
FStarman,... watch the movie!! It is beautiful! The soundtrack ROCKS!!, and it is very well written. The icing on the cake, to one of the best spirited away series in the history of the genre.

Woah, now I find this. Is it bootleg or something? Series is on 4 discs and has the movie:

Hell, I've never even seen Escaflowne but I'm tempted to pick this up. I hear good things about it, and this is a damn good price for an entire anime PLUS the movie.
Perhaps I'll download some episodes and see if I like it, but I'll probably order it anyway.

I got the whole series without a movie for about $37 bucks shipped, I think It's simply imported though, not bootlegged, not exactly sure. Anyway, the series is great, and the quality is actually pretty decent. The dubbed voices kinda suck though, but the original japanese voices are great. I'd highly recommend everyone to check this series out, specially anime fans.

I'd wager dollars to donuts that you got a bootleg. Basically, If it's Region 0 or less than 8 discs that's a bootleg.

damn i loved this anime, it's my favorite one seriously everyone should watch it.. i mean the one on fox was really blah. its like a love story, action, "drama" i suppose into one.. in a way similar to gundam wing but not too much machinarys since it's place in a fantasyland like it's medieval times and it's about a girl trying to get her way back home after she was teleported from earth to another world.. ahh man i wanted the box set a long time ago and i've been looking for it for a whiles.. i cant wait till oct.. but does anyone know how many disc it is?

I dunno the # of discs, it's strange really, Bandai's Official listing (http://www.bandai-ent.com/products/product_details.cfm?id=414) doesn't even say. My guess would be 9, but i dunno for sure.

Does anyone know about the legitmacy of this site?
If that's all ok, I'll probably pick it up. I've wanted the movie for a while, but couldn't ever bring myself to pay 50 for the CE version.
This will change my mind.

deepdiscountdvd is a very reliable site. earlier this summer they ran a 20% off deal an me and all my friends went crazy easily epending over 200 bucks each ( i was able to get all 6 sessions of cowboy bebop for 13.50 each) usuall y go for 20-30 plus tax each in most stores . And the best part is there is no tax(in texas anyway) and free shipping. I had this in my wishlist b4 i read this thread, glad others found about this site.
