I sure am glad that this thread is still living after so long, second in the wii forum only to brawl, 3rd if you throw in PS3 (LBP is ahead), and I havent checked 360 yet. I dont really care about this game anymore honestly :( - Ive done everything and seen everything (not to mention playing like 200 hours out of it). Sadly, I cant see myself playing this game 6-12 months down the line like GTA, not even an hour at a time like GTA has been. I think I might trade it over CAG soon. Now that I mention it, I dont care for my wii anymore either. Granted there's hits like No More Heroes, but I only got like 10 hours out of it. I probably have 6-700 hours accumulated on Wii and 3000 on PS3. Id sell the Wii but its loud as shit, and reads discs 50% of the time. I aint sending this into Nintendo either. I payed 150 for it and they expect me to pay 90 to fix it. Not to mention I need 90 for the RE 5 CE and need to pay 150 to repair my triple.

So far, Chip gave me: dart board, vacuum cleaner, exotic chair, space heater, and I forget what the other prizes were.

I think the one thing I liked that I got from him in the last tourney was the stair dresser.

I'm done with today's tourney for now. I don't want to fish all day trying to get a bigger than 18.7 inch horse mackerel. If anyone gets anything more than half an inch bigger, please post because I want to know if my neighbors still have a chance at catching bigger ones.

I'm seriously thinking about deleting everyone and just starting my friends list over from scratch. Even though I have filled in hearts for almost everybody (just one person has a hollow heart), there are some people who I haven't seen online in a long time. Since I'm not sure who to delete and who to keep, it kind of makes me just want to start off with a mostly empty friends list again.

Filler - is there a way to pass ownership of a thread onto another person? At the least perhaps you could just delete all the friend codes in the OP because they are mostly just an aggravating waste ofvtime for anyone who foolishly enters them. Better to have a note saying to look for who isactively posting in the thread. Mind you, this is just my humble opinion. Others may disagree, but ok know that list just wasted my time with a nearly 0% return on the effort.

I do not know if you realize it, but I cant spend all of my time on the computer working for this thread which has become insanely inactive from what it once was, not to mention it will take 2-3 hours every few days to maintain, which is not worth the effort at all. Its my thread. Theres almost no one on here who is interested in the game anymore who Id even trust. Hell, the only ones I confortably know that post here often are Daisy and Romeo, and even then, it's my thread that I will never give up. No one is willing to maintain a thread 2-3 hours every two days with so much receiving and sending out PMs if wed ever use your idea. You can say you can, but you won't (you refers to everyone, not just crunchewy). I will continue to maintain as I choose to (keep what we have and add upon it when I have the option to), and like I said, this thread dies with me OPing it and I mean that.

Our fishing tourney is for horse mackerel as well. I slept in after a rough week of work...which gave my son the edge, because he woke up early and had already caught an 18.8" mackerel before I even got a chance. So now I'm up to 40 mackerels, not a one that was over 18.5".

And thus begins the house rules. :) Each person who gets the record doesn't participate in the tourney again until their record is beaten. Got to make it fair for all 4 people playing in my household. :)

I was the first to build a snowman, though, so :P

If you guys want a new thread for this game, why don't you just start one? I mean, this thread is a bit of a beast, and it would free up Filler's time.

The people posting in here have changed significantly in the past month, I think maybe it's time for a changing of the guard.

If someone does make a new one, I'd make the main post all FCs, like it is now, and then try to piece together some kind of FAQ- instead of the information thats in the op now.

I'm in the same boat. The 2nd fish I gave Chip was a record 7 inches. I've given him over 30 more fish and that still hasn't been broken! (well I've tied it twice, no gift) That would be really disappointing if there is a limit on the size of a fish. I have 25 more pond smelts waiting to be turned in right before the tourney ends.

I'm still playing AC, but it's not a lot daily. Maybe 20-30 minutes at most. You know, the normal routine of things. Water flowers, talk to everyone, check out Nook's, plant flowers/trees, dig up fossils/gyroids - give them to Museum. I barely bother to go to the City anymore, also. There's just not a whole lot to do there.

yeah, i don't see any point in getting a new thread going. the front page could use a touching up. though don't know how much it matters.

it would be kind of nice if, next to each cags name, the date they were added was listed. that way it would be a little easier to ignore some of the players who don't play anymore. though, plenty of the starting players do still play.

i don't know what i would replace the old AC info with. since the faq on AC is so huge. maybe just a calendar of events for the month. i don't know.

and there's no reason cags couldn't post something they want on the front page. and filler could copy and past it up.

filler- i didn't mean any harm in my suggestion, just throwing it out there. I could care less, personally. I haven't referred to the OP in over a month since I hit my 32 friend limit long ago. It just seems to be an issue for some of the new faces based on the last few pages of messages.

I know back in the 120s or so, we all talked about how this topic would be gone from the main page in a few months, and someone would probably start a new one- just thought that time was closer than we thought.

FYI, our Able Sisters now has a Crown on sale for 1,000,000 bells which I can only presume goes nicely with that Throne that was on sale yesterday! Miranda? Romeo? However, our gate isn't open now. If anyone is interested in the Crown I'm sure our gate will be open at some point later today/tonight. Is this a rare item? Note that our Able Sisters is only open until 9 PM (Eastern). Not sure if that is the case for all Able Sisters or not. We will be watching the Ravens football game tonight starting at 6 PM, but if anyone wants the crown, at the very least I could open the gate and just leave the Wii on while we watch the game, and check on things during the commercials.

Well, it looks like I'll be deleting every single CAG from my friends list sooner than I thought.

With the advent of the hacked DLC items, I'm worried that I won't be able to receive real official DLC from Nintendo since supposedly there are only 256 slots available for DLC and just connecting to someone who has hacked DLC in their inventory will add it to yours. I could see this being a viral sort of issue. Since anyone who connects to Filler's town will end up getting their DLC slots filled with hacked DLC and may then infect my save file with it too if I visit their town or they visit mine. I don't know who on my friends list will have only legit DLC, so I would have to delete everybody.

The part in bold is what worries me about being able to receive future legit DLC from Nintendo.

I'm defriending anybody I don't know IRL right now. Even keeping real life friends is still a little bit risky since they may have people with non legit DLC who visit their towns.

I don't think Nintendo would release all the DLC either, but there's always the concern that they end up using the same item hex codes that the hacked DLC uses. If those slots are already filled up, I wouldn't be able to get the official ones. That's my issue with it. Better safe than sorry is my approach to this.

Well, I analyzed the thread and was thinking about this. There is a possibility we will run out of (most likely me XD ) slots to have DLC, but it is kind of bad to think that some items are worth more to you than your buddy list, not to mention I have 254 more items to get. Ah well, Ill have to spend a few hours talking to a few people and then Ill get back to this thread for an update. The giveaway is postponed on account of DLC rain :(

I'm not sure what to make of this... sounds neat. I'll probably abstain from hacked DLC for a while, see if there's any negative effects. Seems like there are, and Nintendo will probably purposely make it so those with popular hacked DLC (lightsabers) will be unable to get official DLC... until hackers release the Nintendo DLC with a different hex number. :lol: As far as I can tell, I could back up my ACCF save file, save it somewhere safe, add the hacked DLC, give it to whoever wanted it, then restored my save without any trace of the DLC. But then if anybody went in contact with one who had it, they'd get it again. :-k I think I can go without and avoid this whole mess. Nice knowing you Miranda. You're probably overreacting.

re: Hacked DLC item and future Nintendo items
I've picked item codes that are very unlikely to be used by Nintendo (unless they intentionally want to overlap).
In the ideal world, good hackers and Nintendo can live together and we all sing kumbaya and there won't be conflicting IDs.
But collisions may happen,
Each town has their own copy of DLC. They trade them but the first one that is installed wins. So two towns may have two different interpretation of DLC item codes. See below for getting rid of them.
Most scenarios are ok. The game compensates. Lets say you mixed up two hat types, then two people would view the town in different ways.
When they aren't compatible, you mix up a hat type and a tool type, the game also compensates.
Sometimes a hat is not drawn and you get a bald character. The "headless hat" photo on my website is another example of some things out of whack.
Things may look weird but I haven't seen it crash (but that's not a promise because you know some 'bad hacker' is going to try to make something damaging like the "seed" problem in AC:WW).----
re: get rid of DLC
Getting rid of DLC you don't want is a stickier issue. Normally DLC you don't use is ignored by the game. I don't think it's a problem today (since there are only 5 items with no overlaps). It will get messy when more people create DLC items unless we are careful.BTW: Getting rid of unwanted DLC is easy if you have WiiBrew. Non-WiiBrew users don't have a good answer at the current time. They can start their town over and immediately visit a town with the wanted DLC. Or they can install WiiBrew.
So bottom line, conflicting item codes are not the end of the world, but for a number of good reasons we should try to avoid them.

i seriously doubt that nintendo would let shared data have an impact on your ability to do downloads. Think back to other titles where people have hacked things (particularly pokemon). They've never done anything to damage potentially innocent users. If the new content is supposed to go in a slot that is already in use, it will likely be over written.

I don't understand what this means. If Filler comes to my town or if I accept an item from him or he mails me an item, does that mean that I will start seeing hacked items I don't know about showing up at Tom Nooks, in residents houses, etc? Or if I accept a hacked item from him and then get rid if it could it then show up again similarly?

I'd rather not have any hacked items. I'd like to know to what length I have to go to avoid that. I hope I don't have to mass delete FCs.
No. If, going completely against what Nintendo has been doing lately, they release 256 pieces of official DLC, but before that you've come in contact with someone who has come in contact with [etc.] someone who has the AIDS DLC (red or blue light sabers, shinyblue Pikmin) then you are unable to get the Nintendo DLC. However, according to the creator of the hacked DLC:

But collisions may happen,
Each town has their own copy of DLC. They trade them but the first one that is installed wins. So two towns may have two different interpretation of DLC item codes...
Most scenarios are ok. The game compensates. Lets say you mixed up two hat types, then two people would view the town in different ways.
When they aren't compatible, you mix up a hat type and a tool type, the game also compensates.
Sometimes a hat is not drawn and you get a bald character. The "headless hat" photo on my website is another example of some things out of whack.
Things may look weird but I haven't seen it crash (but that's not a promise because you know some 'bad hacker' is going to try to make something damaging like the "seed" problem in AC:WW)

So bottom line, conflicting item codes are not the end of the world, but for a number of good reasons we should try to avoid them.
The only sure fire way is not make any more online contact. However, that's really overreacting. Worst case scenario is instead of a official Nintendo item DLC, you get a hacked saber or something instead. You can fix it if you are able to run homebrew.

Hold on. You seem to be answering yes. Also you seem to be assuming that there will only be 3 or 4 such hacked DLC's when you can be absolutely positive that more then 256 hacked DLCs will be produced, if they haven't already been produced. If every single one has a unique ID, that would leave none for Nintendo. Lastly, you also talk about Pikmin hats and lightsabers which are all fine and dandy and which I couldn't care less about. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that it won't be long before, shall we say, less then intelligent folks, will be inundating the system with their favorite images. I play Animal Crossing, but my kids, 6 and 7, play the game with me too, in the same town. Now what am I suppose to do? Do I have to delete all my FCs to prevent crap like that from showing up? Do I have to delete my town if they do?
No. The absolute worst that can happen is you miss out on Nintendo-approved DLC in place of some hacked DLC because the hex numbers match/you have used your 256 DLC slots. Currently, the program used is held only by the creator, and possibly close friends. (AFAIK just the creator) There has been five pieces of DLC. Three are hacked. It is impossible for DLC items, be it Nintendo-approved red Pikmin hats or some dumbass' favorite shock image as a hat, to appear in Tom Nook's. The only way you would see it is if they were on your friends list, you met up, and they had the item with them and were using it. I think it would be far more likely that they would be using a pattern on a hat, and not go through the extra trouble. Seeing as the program isn't even out in the wild yet, and may stay that way for a while, you don't have much to worry about. (The creator also created a popular tool for modifying AC:WW, and didn't bring full functionality to it that was very easy to do for a year.)

To my knowledge, the only person with the DLC on CAG is Filler2001.

Annnd I just finished putting down paths all over my town. I realized that with all of the flowers I have now, people might think they can't run around in my town. Here in Texas we pride ourselves in ruining everything, I mean, running everywhere.

You wanna hear something I just realized that is extremely funny in a messed up sort of way? If I were to restart my town and come back as one of the people without an AC STD (This conversation sounds so much like 1st semester of health XD), I can't actually come back with my regular stuff, because think of it this way:

1) Let someone hold my stuff (minus the sabre and hat)
2) They become infected
3) I come back with my new account to pick up stuff
4) I become infected again

Man, I really gotta see what I can get for this game now, this is just freakin ridiculous. Its like the game wants me to sell it now...and no way in hell am I restarting from scratch. Fuck Nintendo.

Broly: The hacked items Im speaking of (though there are others) are the lightsabres (blue and red), as well as ShinyBluePikmin (inverted red one). These items were released as "fake" DLC from the hacker known as DSpet which have potential to do nothing up to corrupt your game due to the hex numbers of the DLC (see Doomeds posts on previous page for more info). I got these items right before the entire DLC problems became widespread, and as far as CAG knows I am the only contaminated one (as I own these items - thought for simply connecting to me you become infected too) which causes me to be pissed that I cant go on wifi with CAG now so I dont contaminate them, that there is no way to uncontaminate myself besides starting from scratch at the moment, among other things. On the bright side the TIV is 24 bucks before bonuses.

The current version [of the program that adds the hacked DLC] supports 5 different "DLCs"

Nintendo Official:

"red Pikmin" - hat item (released Xmas 08 in Japan) - item code $AEB0
"top" - furniture item (released New Years 09 in Japan) - item code $C840

Unofficial 'hacked' DLC:

"ShinyBluePikmin" - like 'red Pikmin hat' but shiny blue. Catalog it and buy from Nook - item code $CA00
"RedLightSabreV1" - acts like a golden axe. Can not catalog. Get one from a hacker friend - item code $CA04
"BlueLightSabreV1" - acts like a golden axe. Can not catalog. Get one from a hacker friend - item code $CA08

The program also has a tool to remove DLC from your save file, say, to gain official DLC if there's overlap. For an item from Nintendo to overlap with a hacked DLC, say, the RedLightSabreV1, it would have to have the code $CA04. Any other DLC from Nintendo would work fine until 256 DLC pieces.

I don't understand what the big deal over the hacked items is. If you get one, the absolute worst that can happen is that you miss out on three pieces of DLC from Nintendo, which could probably be fixed by hackers. If you're that worried enable homebrew on your Wii and quit bitching. So far Nintendo DLC has been lame anyway. Light saber>Pikmin hat. I'd be fine connecting with Filler even if I didn't have a way to remove the hacked DLC. That being said, Filler, this isn't Nintendo's fault at all.

The grass pattern is from the Walrus, Wendell. If you give him certain fish/fruit/items he'll give you different patterns. I gave him a Black Bass to get that one, and I can put it at Able's if you'd like to come get it.

To put it on the ground you just select (don't grab/drag) it from the pattern menu. It will give you the option to drop it on the ground. You can also do this in your house to drop your pattern as wallpaper, carpet, clothing item, etc.

For friend codes, as long as the code is correct you should be fine. It doesn't matter what you put for your friend's town name or character, it will correct itself when you connect to them for the first time.

Doomed - one big deal from my perspective is the virus aspect of this. I don't want the hacked items and yet I can end up with them in a form. The notion that I should "just" hack my system, install some probably crappy and possibly even dangerous tool to remove them (and which may not be available anyway? What?) is silly.

I'm not going to shut out wifi, but do want to make it clear that I want no part of these hacked DLC and do not want people with them in my town, nor do I wish to visit a town that has them. I trust all of you to inform us if you have this stuff. Also if you have them and are playing with others, please do not display them without first asking if it is OK.

It doesn't matter if you see the item or not. As long as the person you connect with has the item data in their save file, it also gets transferred to your save file (and anyone else who is in the same town at the time) just by connecting with them. Even if you don't see the item, it doesn't mean you're safe from not getting the data for it.

I'm fine with people doing what they want to enjoy the game, for me it would make the game have diminishing returns, but whatever floats their boat. The problem is where it crosses the line into where it affects other people playing the game, like myself. If you plan on obtaining these items please let me know so I can remove you from my list.

The only thing I've done is reset the grass, but that shouldn't affect anyone else and I only did so due to a minor game flaw.

hey guys! wow, looks like I missed a lot. So who isn't playing anymore? I will delete them from my list. I still play. I haven't been able to get on this site or on line at all thanks to comcast. My internet had been going on and off for over two weeks. It finally went out completely about 5 or 6 days ago. It magically came back today. Comcast is supposed to fix it tomorrow morning. grr! Anyway..once my internet is stable I will be up for visiting or letting people in. I don't hack so I am pretty sure my game is clean.

Hmm, well, I haven't been online since before these DLC/hacked item problems started cropping up. That blows, and I agree that those who intend to keep those items should mention that somewhere so that we know who to remove or not add.

I do still play, I've just been playing catchup with my own town before I hop on again. Though if anyone has me on their list and is hurting for friend space, feel free to remove me for any new CAGs or others who play more than I do.

I hope Nintendo will come up with a way to patch either the game or the system to block out the hacked DLC and hopefully make this issue moot. In the mean time, I hope CAGs will refrain from partaking of it, or if they do, be upfront about it and perhaps create your own circle of FCs and even a separate thread for it. Sort of an "All Drug Olympics" of Animal Crossing. :)

Not only to I have the tools to remove it, (only the tools to create completely new DLC like what happened with the sabers is not widespread) but if I did miss out on three pieces of DLC I wouldn't care. So far Nintendo's DLC has sucked. Unless they offer NES games like in ACGC, I don't care.

I knew AC freezing on me (happened quite a few times) was a bad sign of things to come. I'm not sure if a cleaning kit would help with corrupt system files.

Nintendo products have always been solid for me. I was expecting my 360 to red ring on me first before I ever had to send my Wii in to get repaired.

I finally came up with the info I needed to find. My "infected" game is not actually as infected as we thought. First off, there may be 256 slots, but within those there are thousands of actual possibilities for items that can go into the game. Secondly, this thing CAN NOT and WILL NOT destroy your (in this case my) game. The worst thing that could possibly happen is that you may be unable to get an item if Nintendo happens to put it in the same exact spot (which is extremely unlikely, as like I mentioned, there are thousands of possible item places and Nintendo would probably try to avoid those spots getting over 043218301298310830480 calls about this already. So in conclusion, nothing bad is actually caused from this.

Anyone know if there's a limit to how many charms you can do in one day? I did three town charms yesterday, but only got the effects for two of them.

The first charm I did was to pull 8 weeds in a town & it would help increase my town's turnip prices. My turnip prices today were 79 & 74.

The second charm I did was to find a four leaf clover in the town & I'd find more gyroids in my own town. This one worked since I found a few gyroids today (and it didn't snow in my town yesterday, so there normally wouldn't be any gyroids in my town today).

The third charm I did was to catch a pill bug so that the flowers in my town wouldn't wilt. This one worked, too... all of the flowers in my town don't need any watering.

My daughter is home!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, a circuit blew in our apartment and it will be morning before the landlord can fix it. My fiancee was able to rig it so I could boot up long enought to water my turnip but I couldn't access Wifi. :(

Nook was offering me 58 bells for turnips. He may now go to hell. :)

I'll be on tomorrow evening because I have to wait for her in-home nurse to leave and find some time to sleep as well. I know I love my child when I take away time from AC!

Congrats on your daughter. Figures you would be on tonight and I am going out of town. I want to get this damn cat out of my town crying about her lost kitten. Personally, I feel that the games should have a social services that I could turn her in to.

Seems like everytime i throw in an axe into the fountain now, she asks what kind of axe i through in. I always say a regular axe and she just gives it back to me. :(

I rarely play this game, maybe once every other day. Just going around town digging up X's, looking for the money rock, checking out the stores. I have been planting flowers where ever there are dirt spots though. But other than that, i dont play this game much.

I believe your red turnip should have been pulled up yesterday (Saturday), so you may wind up with a stale turnip. I've always dug mine up with a shovel.

Red turnips don't go bad unless you forget to water them. I once kept one going for two weeks just to see if it'd be worth more, but it never gets higher than 16K.

OK, maybe I am missing something, but does anyone end up with more than 25 acres when they divide up their land? I end up with 3 tiles extra at the East side of my town. My theory is that you are not supposed to account for the river, which goes right down the middle of my town, and that's why I'm showing extra pixels.

On a side note, I made some pretty good profit today at the flea market, but I have not had any more visitors since this morning. I think the townsfolk give up or something after a while.

I'm disappointed with the flea market in this version. I had my three houses set up with fish & fossils and my neighbors weren't at all interested in the fossils. And the trick to get them to buy more than three things (go upstairs/downstairs and back) doesn't work anymore!

For the next flea market, I'll either not sell anything or just have houses full of fish and bugs only. It's not like I really need the Bells for anything anyway.

Kind of funny though, my main floor was full of nothing but fossils & fish and my upstairs & downstairs are crammed with the rest of my furniture and I still got a 173,000+ HRA score for this week. I think my score was around 130,000 last week.

Yeah, I'm starting to hate this game and I've only had it a week. I was really looking forward to actually making good money today, only to get a bunch of cheapskates and one of em didn't actually buy anything. I sold one of them a dartboard for 600, and when I realized I wasn't going to make any money, I went outside to catch fish. I caught a red snapper, and that same animal came up to me and tried to get me to just give her the snapper for the stupid dartboard I'd just sold her! I told her to get lost. I can't buy anything good from anyone else's house either. All I wanted was a regal bed, and of course they want to sell me a crappy chair in the corner.

Maybe selling hasn't worked out, but I've bought some things at good prices, I think. I got the robo dresser for 1100 bells. I think that's a good price. Other stuff. Also sold a mole cricket for 800 bells, so that was also good. Selling furniture, though, they all want lower then catalog prices, which, of course, makes perfect sense. It's used. Maybe not as fun, though.

Ended up doing really well on my first flea market.

After reading about a previous poster selling shells at a big markup, I decided to do the same and ended up selling nearly everything for a 2x markup from the selling price I would've gotten from Nook (1200 bells for a scallop, 900 for a white scallop, etc.). Next time I might try to get 2x on fish and fossils.

I bought the following throughout the day at 50% off or greater than what it sells for at Nook's:

Exotic Bed
Exotic Wardrobe
Samurai Suit
Tall Lantern
Plum Bonsai
Bawi Lute

Two different NPCs had the Exotic Bureau and neither would let go of it.

Nook had a Tea Table today, so I bought that to go w/ everything else. And I finally talked my son into trading me his Blue Kotatsu...had to give the little swindler 3 gyroids. :)

Oh, and one of the NPCs must've dumped their Master Sword in the recycle bin. So I've got that now.

Overall, a pretty good day. :D

Converse, I failed horribly at marking acres! They seem to overlap and not even make it to the beach. No perfect town rating here. I'm just throwing flowers everywhere to see if that eventually adds up to perfect status. What I hate is that I have too many trees in certain areas, but since there are flowers in that same acre, it somehow makes it OK and doesn't give me the "too many trees" message. I have no idea if that is messing the whole thing up or what, but all these trees are driving me crazy :bomb:

Thanks for the input. I finally figured out that a few of my marking were off, and I was able to get it all lined up. I'm a little anal retentive about this kind of stuff, so I had created a digital graph paper in Excel where I was mapping out my town. I finally finished tonight and it's all making sense now. It's so much easier to have it all mapped out on the computer, because I can calculate easily how many trees, what kind of trees, flowers, etc. in each acre and adjust appropriately. I want to get the perfect town rating and the golden watering can to add to my collection.

On a side note, I donated enough to get the extra bridge in town, and they gave me two really weak options on where to put it. I assume it'll be constructed within the next week, but I was disappointed I couldn't choose where it went. My next goal is to donate to the town fund another 400K bells for the fountain and then I'll work on paying off my mortgage on the 2nd floor.

I'm totally loving this game still. I really enjoy the "Sim City" aspect of creating the town in the model that you want, not to mention the financial side of playing the stalk market, selling items, and all of the little jobs along the way. I'm not much of a collector in the game, but the challenge of catching new bugs and fish every month will keep me involved for many months yet I suspect.

I got the Blue Kotatsu from a resident a while back and I didn't know what it was suppose to be so I sold it to Tom Nook. Is it suppose to be a table? I realized afterward that maybe that's what it was suppose to be, but I hadn't tried to put anything on it before I sold it and I didn't want to rebuy it in order to find out if that's what it was.

I was really pleased with the flea market. Maybe that's because I had no expectations for it, never having done it before, but to me it makes perfect sense that they wouldn't buy "used" stuff from you for above "retail", plus I believe they pay more more then what Tom Nook will pay you if you do want to get rid of something - you just can't turn a profit from furniture you purchased. They do offer a lot for your bugs and fish and such, more then Nook pays, and you can make money that way and get bargains on furniture from them. Plus it's just fun having them come visit your house for a change.

I had fun, but I wasn't prepared for it. Next time I'll know what to do. Namely, the day before I'll clear out my house so all it has are fish, shells, bugs and any furniture I just want to get rid of (and I'll have a list of what Nook pays for them/what to ask for them - 2x Nook). This time they kept coming in and asking to buy stuff I didn't want to sell and/or that I didn't know the worth of, and I never had any time to set up what I did want to sell, though I did manage to sell one mole cricket (I said 800 bells before, but I think it was actually 600 that I sold it for.)

How often do flea markets occur? I'm looking forward to the next one. My kids missed this one and I think they are going to have fun with the next one too.

I've kind of latched on to the whole oriental theme, so I've been bugging my son about trading it to me for a few weeks now.

This time they kept coming in and asking to buy stuff that I didn't know the worth of...For the first time in a long while, I bought a strategy guide at full price (instead of waiting for it to penny)...I'm not totally crazy, though, I did use a 30% off coupon and pay for the remainder with Borders Bucks.

I used the AC:CF guide for price lookups. It has the Nook's buy/sell price for nearly everything.

How often do flea markets occur? I'm looking forward to the next one. My kids missed this one and I think they are going to have fun with the next one too.Every 4th Sunday of the month.

While I'm pleased with the items I bought from the NPCs (save for one twat that wouldn't sell anything), I couldn't get more than 25% mark up on any fish, insects, shells. Most of what I did sell was about a 10% mark up - those cheap bastards.

I did notice that the later it got the better the price (I bought a jack-in-the-box for 1,101 at 5pm, but it was 1,790? at 10am), and some of things that weren't for sell were later.

My flea market sucked, but that's because most of the items in their houses were ones I'd sent away as gifts on letters to get rid of. I had plenty of chances to repurchase my old crap, since that's all they had in their houses. :lol:

Yeah, all of the things in my neighbors' houses were things I sent them, but not crap since I usually send them series/themes. Still not anything I'd want to rebuy from them since it's nothing that I can't already get. Now Bill's house just has a bunch of fish in it that I sold to him yesterday.:lol: I was able to buy back some fish from them to resell. :-P

I actually made a decent amount of Bells from selling fish alone. I made 413,550 with one of my characters. I think my other one made about 150K+ Bells selling her fish. So it's not bad, but still not as good as the flea market was in WW.

The animals will buy/sell stuff at different prices depending on how much they like your character. My main character was selling stuff at almost 3x Nook's buying price, but my second character was only able to get less than 2.5x Nook's buying price for some of the same fish. I didn't even try selling with my third character since all he had in his house were fossils.

When I was in another town trying to buy stuff, they'd try to charge me insane prices! One wanted 4,433 for a lobster! But it's nice that you get to buy from other towns too. I bought some stuff just to catalog it.

That's pretty cool that they offer/accept different amounts depending on how much they like you. I'm often failing at the tasks their putting me up to, though not for failing to try. Teddy was asking me for grey furniture and I didn't have anything and Nook's never sold anything grey. I had a trash can which I thought was grey, but he didn't accept that as grey. I guess it was silver, not grey. Etc. I suppose that puts me in a bad light....

I sold them stringfish, coelacanth, and tuna. I didn't have that many, probably around 10-12 fish total that I've been saving up since December. Later on, I caught some football fish, red snapper, and sea butterfly, but ended up only selling 3 of those since I got tired of selling stuff to them and wanted to start putting my furniture back.

I hope beetles are ridiculously valuable in City Folk like they were in Wild World. They took up less space so having tons of them netted big money :applause:
I was really looking forward to the flea market- because some of my residents had fish i wanted to pick up- but then friday night, they ALL approached me asking for bugs and stuff. I didn't think twice, and gave them all pill bugs, and mole crickets and what not, then the next day, all the fish were gone, and the bugs were there instead. Dumb me.
You should try to get them to trade. Always have shirts and furniture with you, and when they ask for it they might offer you the fish in exchange.
I know Lucy traded me her Tuna for a piece of classic furniture :lol:

I don't think I'd do it again for next month. It's kind of annoying to have to dedicate a whole room just for storing fish. In my case, I used most of my second floor and part of my basement. Then I had to move all of my furniture around just to set up for the flea market and I made sure to do it well in advance. My main floor is totally empty now except for one table lamp.

If I needed the Bells, then I'd do it again, but I'd rather just have furniture in my house and not bother with the flea market anymore. I'd make another character just for selling in the flea market, but since it wouldn't be my main character, the animals wouldn't pay as high prices as they would with my main character.

Converse, I failed horribly at marking acres! They seem to overlap and not even make it to the beach. No perfect town rating here.

yeah, i had some serious problems marking acres in my town. it took me a long time to get it right. but eventually i got 25 16x16 squares. i think the beach ones were a little smaller. and i may have only gone 15 across on the right side. though i can't remember.

but once i was happy with my grid. i cut down all the trees and took all the flowers off the grid lines. since i wasn't sure which acre they belonged to. and then i counted everything and just made the necessary adjustments.

and i was so happy afterwards to get rid of my clumped trees.

122 during the AM hours, and then down to 99 this evening at my Nookway. I almost jumped at the 122 this morning as that is a modest profit. My Nookway hasn't been that good the past couple of weeks, topping out at 135 and bottoming out at 65.

I can't find any mention of Animal Crossing:City Folk for $35 with or without WiiSpeak in the Best Buy weekly ad (it isn't shown at all) and the website shows the regular version as $49.99. So that price is probably YMMV.
