Nookways opened today, and he's having a 50% off sale this evening. A writing desk, a pyramid, and two other things I don't care about are in there. Turnips are crap, though.

I definitely want the pyramid, since I am already flossing with a Crown. My turnips are now at 94 bells (up from 64 from this morning), which could be a good sign. Hopefully they will jump up even higher tomorrow.

Crunch, you should get that chair anytime, I sent all three the same day. If you don't get it by tomorrow, I'll just send another one.

I still need to visit the Prof sometime to toss him his goodies as well.

I know, I still haven't seen you on yet.

Nook's buying turnips for only 54. Are there any 300s out there this week?

Robo-Stereo
Robo-Lamp

I need the Robo-Clock! I have everything you need except for the Robo-Closet (Warddrobe?) I probably need more lab stuff (is there a lab clock? dresser? wardrobe? lamp? Don't send any of that stuff even if it exists yet - I tend to forget what I have... let me check first :-), but also would now like to start building some other sets. Do you have any other collections of furniture? I'd like to start perhaps the cabana set, or something like that. I have the cabana dresser and the cabana screen and need everything else, if there is anything else. In any case I'd be happy to order you the robo-dresser, chair, table, stereo and lamp. Just let me know. Then you can order me the robo-clock and we'll figure out what else you can get me in exchange. Too bad there isn't a 5x points sale now. Speaking of which, is it possible to order from your catalog in someone else's town?

Thanks, Romeo, for opening your town last night, though it was a mystery where the big fish were. At least I caught a couple tuna and a football fish. I hope I didn't jinx the charm by catching a second bitterling. Do extras break the charm? I'm also wondering what effect the charm will have if do still have it.

EDIT: others are trying to get robo stuff too, so probably I should only give you some of the stuff you need, as I think they also need the robo-clock. So, I'll wait for them to chime in....

EDIT2: Ok, so only Darkpumpkin has taken me up on one of these King Tut Masks and now I'm loaded down with them. What do I have to do? Have a blue light special? Surely you can't all already have King Tut Masks, can you? Come on, at least offer to make me a half-decent homemade pattern or two in exchange. I'll accept! :)

Was up a little early today and decided to check turnip prices before heading to work...but Nook still had his tanuki arse in bed. #-o

So...turnip prices this evening...post 'em if ya got 'em, please. :)

cruchewy, I guess I can help you out w/ one of those Tut masks. I'll have to see what I have that I can trade, I think I may have a couple pieces from the cabana furniture set.

I'm mainly looking for items from the exotic and Japanese furniture sets. Here's the ones I don't have:

Japanese set:
Screen
Hibachi
Paper Lantern
Paulownia Closet
Stair Dresser
Low Screen
Paper Tiger
Lucky Frog
Bow
Black Katana
White Katana
Ninja Sword
Deer Scare

Exotic set:
Exotic Bureau
Exotic Chair
Exotic Table
Exotic End Table
Exotic Screen
(can't recall if I already have the rug and wall)

I also like the bonsai set (anyone see a theme?). Don't have:

Bonsai set:
Ponderosa Bonsai
Pine Bonsai
Mugho Bonsai
Holly Bonsai
Azalea Bonsai
Maple Bonsai
Hawthorn Bonsai
Quince Bonsai

I may have to verify this list is correct before anyone starts offering me anything...these lists are based on what I remember owning and I haven't had enough caffeine yet this morning.

Also, I think my kids might have a few of these, if I can talk them into buying them for me. Which they should, since I pay their mortgages.

Also...anyone have any Lucky Cats?

I'll try to put together a list in the next few days of what I have in my catalog...and what my kids have.

darkpumpkin and Interstella...I mailed all your items last night. Hope they arrive safe and sound.

Alright Crunch, I'll send you a robo clock as soon as I get one from Crook's.

Eug, As soon as we meet up and can start mailing each other, I'll get you the ninja sword and some bonsai plants (only missing 3 I believe).

I'm way late to the party and just started playing this last night. Assuming I get engulfed by this item-collecting madness that everyone here seems to suffer from, I'll post my info here. For others to visit your town, do you have to have the game up and running? Or is there a way to use WiiConnect24? (sorry if this is a stupid question)

I forget who was collecting the chess pieces, but I've got a Black & White Bishop both in my Nookington's today. As well, I know there were a few of you that wanted the Lovely collection, and there is a Lovely Lamp in Nookington's also.

Turnips were only in the mid 60's today, so I'm hoping for the Wed night spike like last week.

Here's my want list, since it appears to be the trend of the day...

Fossils Ankylosaur Tail Iguanodon Head Tyrannosaurus Rex Head Apatosaur Tail Seismosaur Torso Shark Tooth Archaeopteryx

Kiddie Clock Kiddie Stereo

Modern Sofa Modern Wadrobe Modern End Table Modern Desk
Anything Mario

Go into that building right where your bus stop is, the gates, and you have to talk to the dog guard on the right to open your gates if you want people to come in. If you want to go out, you ask him to search for open gates. You have to have the game on and running for people to visit back and forth.

Feel free to add your info to the list in my signature, and let anyone know if you added them so they can add you too. It's a mutual agreement, so if you add them and they don't add you, you don't get anywhere.

You have to have the game running to let people visit. You can enable WiiConnect24, however, to allow for delivery of mail, and I think other stuff (DLC from Nintendo?) I'm not really sure what it's used for to tell the truth, but I think it can help speed up mail delivery to and from friends. Don't quote me on it. You enable WiiConnect24 via the telephone beside your bed.

You need to get and share your friend code and you need to enter other people's friend codes before you can visit/be visited. To get a friend code you must talk to the guard on the right at the gate and select the Friend Code option. Once you have some other peoples FCs entered and they have yours entered, you can let people into your town by opening your gate. You do that by talking to the same guard. You go out by talking to him as well.

I'm maintaining a list of active AC:CF players. Post your FC info here and I'll add you to the list. Use the format you see in that list. You'll probably want to add people on the active list as well. See my signature for a link to that list normally, but I'll post it here as well for your convenience in case you have signatures hidden (like I do!):

Robo-Clock

I need;

In need the robo clock, bed and the closet. If you want I can send you the Robo-Dresser, Robo-Chair, Robo-Table, Robo-Stereo, and Robo-Lamp.

I still have Kilraven's robo-stereo as well. I might just pass it to crunch and see if he could mail it.

Also, my turnip price this afternoon is 130 bells. I am really hoping that it goes up tomorrow or someone here has a better price, because 28 bell profit, while better than a lose, is not that appealing.

And on a side note I got my fountain yesterday, so today I throw my first axe in and got a sliver one. First try, how about them apples?

Crunch, how much do you want for a tut mask?

And on a side note I got my fountain yesterday, so today I throw my first axe in and got a sliver one. First try, how about them apples?

Sorry, we got hammered by scary winds and bad storms, so I lost my connection for a good while.

Matt, I ordered your modern sofa, desk and wardrobe. The total is 7,271 bells. Just subtract however much the lovely lamp is off from that.

Eugaet, I can either order all of those items for you or you can just let me know which ones you want. I get a discount, so for everything I have that you want, the total would be 20, 984 bells.

Janet, sadly I do not have anything you need at this time, but I will keep looking for you!

If you want to play it safer in the future, you can do what I have done in the past, when you get a somewhat OK price like 130, sell enough of your turnips to get your money back and no more. Then you are left with turnips that will be all profit. Even if the price drops after that they'll still be all profit, and if prices go up, you'll still get to take advantage, albeit not quite as much. It's a cowards way, but it works. :)

It's 11:15 am my time, and Nook's buying turnips for 192 bells. So far this week though, afternoons have been lower. Any takers?

Also sending your chess piece in a few mins, CL-Insanity. I have to have visited your town to send you mail, so I'll have to deliver it by hand, or you can come get it.

EDIT: Never mind, my afternoon prices are 206. At least I only sold some.

Heheeee, everything has been ordered for you. I am hoping to have all items in no later than tomorrow morning and they will be on your way. Thank you for the samurai suit. The jukebox hasn't come yet, but I am not sweating it.

This is interesting. Unfortunately, due to work, I can't check prices in the morning during the week, so I can't put this into practice. Too bad there isn't a way to play AC:CF remotely.

It's been two days for me without AC:CF. Last night it was because I fell asleep early. Prof - sorry about the delay in getting your King Tut Mask out. I will definitely get it to you tonight! Daisy - if I see you I'll give you your green bookcase if applecrisp hasn't already gotten you one, or can mail it. I don't need to order one as I already have it.

I believe I now have Nookingtons in my town. Nook was upgrading yesterday, I'm pretty sure. 9 PM closing time is for the birds, but so is the 9 AM opening time as I was thinking I'd just set the clock back an hour to compensate for the closing time, but then my kids would be quite unhappy since they play on Saturday/Sunday mornings and their morning game time ends at 10 AM. Yes, they would be very unhappy. I wish there could be both a Nook & Go and Nookingtons at the same time, instead of one or the other. On the other hand, I guess having gotten the charm from oemor's town, maybe I'll see some good items, if I can get there before it's closed! And if that's what the charm did. ???

I too have been debating if I should change the time on my game because Nookington's is only open 9am-9pm. I like to sometimes play in the morning like at 6 or 7 am, pick up the fossils, pull the weeds, hit the money rock, etc. If I moved the time 3 hours earlier, then it'd essentially close @ 6pm in the evening, which is pretty early, but it would give me some time yet. I guess I could always go out to another town if I needed a Nooks in the evening too. There would be other disadvantages though, like Joan showing up between 3am-9am.

There should be one more upgrade after Nookington's, and I like your idea Crunch. They should make an additional Nook N Go or Nook's Cranny for expansion.

alison
02-13-2009, 12:50 PM
Nookington's is one of the main reasons that I changed my time to reflect a 3 hour difference (i.e. 9 pm here is 6 pm AC time). I typically play in the evenings (and I'm the only one in the house that plays), so this works out perfectly for me. Now, my Nookington's is in the process of being downgraded, but I'll probably keep this time change for the time being.

With that said, hopefully some folks have their gates open tonight. The downgrade is happening today, so I'm Nookless :(

Or do like I suggested before, and when there is a price like 200 bells, sell enough to make back what you paid for your turnips, and keep the rest in reserve in case their is a big spike. Even if prices go down, you'll still do well and if there is a big spike, you'll do great. Fishing tournament happenings:

- Son woke up early, had caught a sea bass at 45.x inches.
- I caught a tuna at 92.x inches, reduced my son to tears because he said he would never find another tuna...
- He immediately catches a tuna at 100.x inches and order is restored.
- I'm still suffering a nervous twitch from watching Chip devour 14000 bells worth of tuna.

At my parent's house now, most likely not able to do any more fishing until the tournament is over.

Also, sold my red turnip (payed 1000 bells) for 16000 bells. Not sure if that's good or not, first time messing w/ red turnips.

Id hate to be so crude with this, but no one actually gives a shit about the hacked dlc anymore. Its been proven already that there are thousands of item slots and that the very worst that could happen is being unable to get 1-3 items, and Nintendo wont be dicks to choose those three slots anytime soon, based on them knowing of DsPets situation. Romeo, thanks for the wall!

Eugaet, I hope everything comes your way shortly. I haven't gotten the bells yet either. I hope because everything was such a big order that its taking some time to get there.

The F13 remake was meh. Just meh. This was the first time I let myself get pumped up for a remake/reboot and I was so dissapointed with the end result. It's essentially The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake with Jason replacing Leatherface. Understanding since there is the same director, same production company and some of the same actors even.
The film flew by before I even knew it, but it seemed like they were trying to cram way too much mythology from the first three movies into this one. Not even two minutes into the film and Mrs. Voorhess gets decapitated. Then Jason has his burlap sack mask for about 15 minutes. Then suddenly he finds the hockey mask, and the way he is first shown with it is no where near as effective in part 3
The kills aren't even that exciting. He's essentially just machete happy and loses a lot of the creativity he displayed in previous entries. Still, he's a bit smarter in this one.
If you do opt to see it, let me know if you think Jason is a pot farmer? I'm still wrapping my mind around this.

That's exactly what I'm concerned with is not getting a couple legitimate items -- as little chance as there is of that happening -- and not that my game will be destroyed. I know the current hDLC won't destroy the game...I've done my research, but thanks for the reminder. It couldn't have hurt if the hDLC didn't look like ****, though.

Sure, right now the risks are low. Whether it stays that way in the future remains to be seen. I really don't know...but apparently you two do. It comforts me to know that y'all are in possession of crystal balls that can see exactly what the future holds in regards to AC:CF and hDLC. With Filler and georox telling me exactly how things will turn out, there's absolutely nothing for me to worry about.

We can all sleep soundly at night now.

Ha! I just went back and read that again. You, sir or madam, are a class act.

Well I AM animal crossing after all ;) . Also, there are technically 256 hex slots for new items but within those there is actually the ability to hold thousands of items, which is why I said there wont be a concern because if they manage to release thousands of items at a rapid rate, you shouldnt worry because theyll probably suck if they can fill that many slots so fast

Hey, thanks for posting the math for others who haven't done the research. If that was for my benefit, though, I'm not sure why you'd waste the time...I already know that! :D

Luckily, no one else will ever figure out how to release AC:CF hDLC because that would be impossible! And worrying about impossibilities is silly! Because they'll never happen! And I really like exclamation points tonight! Do you like exclamation points, georox? Oh damn, that was a question mark! I'm going to PM you some exclamation points right now!!!

Ahem...also, I'm going long on the turnips again this week so let's hope for some good prices. I may look into the whole averaging thing.

EDIT: Ah, Filler replied while I was posting. Yeah...256 slots, thousands of possible item codes, I know all this. Unfortunately (for my schedule, I had other things to do), I spent multiple hours on multiple days researching AC:CF hDLC and how it might affect me...but mainly how it might affect my kids, since they play as much, if not more, than I do. If one person figured out how to do it...then someone else can, too. And those slots can fill up with illegitimate **** pretty quick if things get out of control. Right now, it's not much of an issue, though.

My reasons for disliking hDLC are more ethical right now, however.

EDIT EDIT: Wait, you are Animal Crossing? Sweet! Come on, man, you've got to do something about those Nookington's hours! Not looking forward to that upgrade! [Glad to see some humor in your response, Filler. :)]

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Darn it, y'all've got me in a friendly debate mood now. I'm supposed to be working on server updates tonight. And I can use double contractions like y'all've. I do live in Oklahoma, ya know...

And I have to explain this because I missed your next reply because I was editing my post. Did I mention I was editing my post?

And honestly, avoiding hacked DLC is nearly impossible, as if anyone here gets it and spreads it to another member, all you have to do is touch em :D

Good news is, unless a malicious person gains the ability to create Hacked DLC, it's pretty good.

Don't get me wrong, I'm against malicious use of such information, I just see it as right now it's rather silly to be up in arms against.

Oh, come on, what the heck kind of debate is this?! ;)

A couple beers (or more), lots of pretzels, and 4-5 hours of hulu.com...and server updates are done. If only I could telecommute full time.

I agree that avoiding the hacked DLC, at this point, is pretty much futile. In fact, I'm pretty sure we all have it now, and a big reason for that, and this is my issue, is Filler. Filler is a person who repeatedly felt the need to tell us how tired he was of the game and how he was going to sell it, and perhaps even his Wii, yet did not do so. He continues to state that he's going to sell the game. Then when he got the hacked DLC, presumably because he had reached "don't care" state and figured, "why not?", and found out that it spread so easily, rather then doing what he'd said he'd do all along, or at least wiping his town and thus avoiding spreading it among CAGs, he instead chose to hold contests with his "most insane prizes ever". And now he's giving away millions of bells. So, yeah, I'm not a big fan.

I love how you hate me so much but havent actually said anything to me directly XD. Good job making accusations though, not so great on following through. You want to know the truth? I havent even been to anyones town on CAG since the event, Ive been mostly getting bells to distribute among CAG for when I do finally get a seller (left a few ads on CL). I have amassed another 10 million for CAGs needs also. Crunchewy, I think you are what makes this thread so silly at times.

I am glad to hear that no CAGs took you up on your "cut all my trees down and trash my town", nor your "fishing tournament with most insane prizes ever" events, either of which would have resulted in spreading the hacked DLC. If that's the case, then avoiding the hacked DLC may not be as futile as I imagined. At least not yet.

i'd definitely like that axe. if you put it up on the auction, i'll certainly put in a bid. but if you do it outside the auction house. i'd put in an initial bid of 25,000 bells. but i'd certainly be willing to go up.

do remember how you got serena to give you the axe? i've been failing miserably all winter to get anything out of her.

I finally added two more characters to my town, "Closet" and "Garage", for storage purposes. I figured those were fitting names, and they can give me two extra chances at the axe in the fountain every day, plus a little extra cash if they hit up a money rock or the special events. That will also give me three different characters to try the three different paths with Serena (gold axe, silver axe, plain axe).

I think I am in for a rollercoaster week on turnips. Yesterday I had them at 114 already, which seemed very high for a Monday. Then today they are down to the low 60's this morning and like 53 this afternoon. I'm hoping for a big return this week as I have over 700,000 in bells of turnips and I'm looking to get the lighthouse and help pay off my wife's mortgage yet.

DarkPumpkin, congrats on the Lovely Phone, that's pretty cool.

On the fountain, you only get one shot per day per villager. That's part of the reason I created additional villagers for my town, to have additional shots at the axe. I used up all my axes pretty quickly though, so now I'm just down to one axe per day if Nookington's carries it. The other thing that is beneficial with multiple villagers is taking a different path on the axe with Serena every day. I have my main character as the honest one, then the other two characters say the Gold and Silver individually. One of them has to pay off eventually. I need to buy some axes in bulk though. I'd gladly pay 1000 bells per axe if someone can sell me some.

On the town fund, you just have to donate a total of 1M bells. I did my last 400K last night and they had the voting process for the Windmill/Lighthouse today.

Yeah, now I am pretty sure I have the whole lovely set. I was so excited about the phone! I didn't think I would be so lucky as to get it on my first time taking that stupid cat back to her negectful mother.

Logged on as my fiancee as well, and no dice either. I bought my own stockpile of axes in anticipation of getting my fountain so we will see how quickly I use them all up.

I went ahead and donated my million. Windmill here I come!

I also got my gold VIP shopping card. I thought you were supposed to get a discount at Gracie Grace with it, but Labelle still wanted 80,000 for the princess bed?

i've got to make a comment on the grass.

lately i've been paying once a day for less then a half hour. i've done this for a couple months now. and i never run. and the grass still doesn't go back. and then i'll go 2 or 3 days without playing, and a bunch of grass will grow back.

i believe very strongly that grass growing and running aren't as connected as we once thought.

and also, grass shouldn't effect a perfect town rating. that i know of.

You're right, grass has no effect on town rating. It's just trees and flowers that matter. I have very little grass in my town and got a perfect rating + golden cans.

I was doing some TT to test a theory I had on bare trees (fur trees, trees without fruit) and inadvertently got my golden watering can about a week sooner. It's cool to have it, and I'm still going to keep my town perfect anyway. I didn't realize that when you TT forward and then back to your original time it keeps the changes after you went forward. For example, I had done shake downs on a bunch of trees and left the contents on the floor and when I TT'd back to the current time, it was still there.

To answer your gold card question, it does not do anything other than do what I guess are bragging rights, which I find kind of funny because you cant actually show people you have it besides dropping it. IMO the cards are pretty useless themselves because with the ABD in the city, you can easily withdraw and deposit on the spot.

Also, if anyone wants to see something really awesome, check out my new 4x4 mural:

Turnips cost 107 for me today - rippoff! :)

My kids are having a lot of fun with the flea market. I've done OK, but haven't sold as many fish as I'd have liked so far, though in retrospect, I probably more need to unload furniture I'm not using anyway, as my closet is overflowing. Hopefully I can sell my other stringfish and my 2 football fish and one red snapper, though, before it is over. Will residents who have visited come back again later or is it once per? I accidentally blocked myself in when Maelle came in and didn't get to sell to her. Oops. I'm hoping she'll come back later.

I guess I'm done with the flea market for today. No more animals will come into my house even though there are different ones that are outside now than this morning.

Made 471,476 Bells with one character, but could've made a little bit more if I sold one more thing to Stitches. I still have a bunch of fish left in my house.

My other characters don't really have anything to sell.

Joan was selling turnips for 100 earlier. Speaking of turnips, I found this site that helps you decide when is the best time to sell your turnips. Seems to work pretty well. I tried entering in the numbers I was tracking for turnips last week and it worked good enough... except in one town it suggested to sell a day too early. Here's the link to the Stalk Market Wizard:

Nice! :applause: You must have saved up a ton of fish! This was the first flea market where I really sold fish. I made out OK, but storing them is too much of an inconvenience. Sending letters and being friendly a couple of days before helped me to get nearly 3x their worth from every villager that visited.

Yeah, I had so much fish in my house. Someone commented that it looked like a pet store on my first floor when they visited my town. I was getting close to 3x Nook's buying price too. I think that's the last flea market where I'll be selling stuff. It's too much work to move all my furniture out of the way (especially since I'm out of storage) just to set up a bunch of fish.

I just did Festivale tonight in another town with someone on my friend's list who's in Malaysia. It takes so much longer to get furniture from Pavé than getting it from someone like Jingle. You have to play games with your villagers and if you lose, they take something from your pockets or 500 Bells. If you win, you get a piece of candy. You need 3 pieces of a specific colored candy to get 1 piece of furniture.

What we ended up doing was laying out all our candy in front of Pavé and just sharing it with each other. Then we'd have our separate piles of furniture/wallpaper/flooring and any dupes would either go in the dupe pile or in the pile of whoever needed the piece.

After about 3 hours, we only had 1 complete set between the three people who were in the town. The other two of us were both missing 1 piece and we had a whole bunch of dupes. Really a big pain in the butt to get a complete Pavé set. I hope I can get the last piece I need once Festivale starts in my town.

Daisydog
02-23-2009, 05:23 AM
So it can be done on wifi. Looks like we need to get some attack groups going :D

Which piece do you need Miranda?

Miranda
02-23-2009, 06:50 AM
Yup, you can do Festivale on wifi. Here are some tips:

- trap your outdoor animals. The closer you can get them to the town hall the easier it'll be than having to go all over your town to find them to try to win candy from them. Also be sure that at least one person is holding their shovel in case anyone else accidentally kicks in a hole and sets an animal free.

- empty your pockets, wallet (unless you don't mind losing money), and letter attachments... the letters will be used for temporarily storing any candy you might win (if it's attached to a letter, they won't try to win it from you since they can't see it)

- collect as many shells/fruit as possible or any other worthless items you don't care about losing. The animals didn't seem to want to try to win pitfall seeds from me, so there might be some other things that you won't be able to put on the line in a game.

- if each person holds onto their own candy, it takes a little longer to get piece of furniture, so having an organized & shared collection of candy right near Pavé might help everyone get furniture faster. Just take turns with who will be the next person to give Pavé the candy he (yes, Pavé is a guy... LOL) wants.

I think there might be some sort of logic the NPC's use when they play rock-paper-scissors. If you win the first game (let's say you did ROCK and they did SCISSORS), in the next round I think the NPC will try to use something that's effective against what you won round 1 with. So since they'll probably try to do PAPER next to beat ROCK, go with SCISSORS. I haven't really figured out what their pattern is when they win the first round or when there's a draw the first round. You have to win at least two rounds of r-p-s, so if you win the first round, the second round is usually easier to predict. Or it might be just luck that I won those. I think it's just random.

For the "guess which hand the candy is in" types of games, I usually won those by picking the same hand for both rounds.

There were other types of games, but I think they're mostly random with how you win them.

I'm not sure which piece I needed. I'll check the next time I turn the game on.
