You get to skip the personality quiz at the beginning of the game, and your catalog at nook's store is transferred into the game. No money transfer, no items. I was kind of sad about it. I have seen a couple of times when the game has referenced that i played AC:WW.

according to gonintendo- you can get your ribbons (from donation), and you can transfer over some of the nintendo items- like the master sword, arwing, etc (not the mario furniture set).
Aww that sucks. It would have been nice to come over with some bags of money to speed up my house embiggening.

I'll get to it eventually I guess. I want to play this more but its hard to get into since I have Mirror's Edge and Dead Space from Gamefly aching to be finished.

Circuit City didn't have the bundled ACCF/WiiSpeak or Wii Speak separate so I bought the standalone AC and Outdoor Challenge (Wife wanted it) to save $20. When CC gets WiiSpeak in stock, I can pick that up and save $5 because it is a Wii accessory (hopefully) and still be ahead of the game versus buying it at Best Buy.

Anyone have Wii Speak? How is it? Worth it? (seems expensive at $29.99).

I like to figure out how many trees give coins/items everyday. Then i cut down everything that is just dead weight and then I replace them all with strategically located fruit trees. That way, i know exactly where my "shake" trees are when i start playing.

I did a poor job of it in WW, and my town wasn't happy with the balance of tree. I never went back and fixed it in that game, but i think i can get it right this time.
Anyone else do that?

When the 4 of us were sitting around the typing and the text bubbles would pop up...it was simply awesome. Hilarious, actually!

I think because of this, I will never get Wii Speak. Unless it's like $10 and by then there are other games that support it..but still..

I don't know exactly the moment you can, but I suspect it is after you perform the duties for Nook.

I tried to get my FC immediately and it kept giving me an error, with the dog guard telling me "There seems to be some unfinished business." Or something to that effect. So after I talked to everyone and did the 3-4 things Nook wants you to do as a part time job, I was able to get my FC.

So we're talking 20-30 minutes of gameplay or so before you can open up your town.

Question, how many people did you have in your room with you last night? There was also a lot of backround noise (like other stuff) did you have a fan or an air conditioner on or something??

Well, last night I ended up moving to the room upstairs instead of the living room downstairs, and that room's pretty small - there was my sister, two computers (both on), and the TV. The TV's kind of old and it made an audible sort of mosquito whine you get from electronics the whole time it was on, and I ended up moving the speaker on top of the TV.

My sister was also constantly yelling at me about the game, so that might have contributed to most of the noise too.

I think I'm inclined to agree that WiiSpeak feels like a novelty, and aside from the limited text restriction (25 characters) the text based chat works really well, and fits in with the charm of the game. It filters out noise somewhat decently, although the sound quality was quite a bit less than I was expecting. Has anyone tried hooking up just a plain 'ol usb mic to see if it works?

I think the book says something about the pictures possibly being "corrupted" when sending them to anything besides another Wii, but the pictures are just straight jpgs that can be pulled directly from the card so I don't see why it wouldn't work. You certainly can't hurt anything by trying.

I think they are talking about wii speak/headset vs keyboard, not wii speak vs headset. The point being is that mics make it too much like COD4 for example, taking some of the charm away.

I haven't heard someone using a mic yet while playing AC, so I can't comment on how I feel about it personally.

Well, I somewhat agree, though I bought the bundle anyway. I gots oodles of GS credit so I figured I might as well go for it.

My problem will be that either I'll be surrounded by noise if I play early (and my kids are around) or I'll have to be real quiet if I play late (and everyone is sleeping). So I'm not sure how effective it will be. One thing I can tell you for sure, though, I DETEST "typing" with the Wii remote. I could type pretty fast with the DS stylus. Why the hell didn't they allow for hooking up a DS to use for typing and possibly inventory control? That would have been awesome.

So, yeah, I know I could get a USB keyboard but it would have to be wireless. I guess I'll look into this $15 one everyone is talking about. I just really don't need any more plastic crap around my house! :lol:

Anyway, if I manage to get into any games with the kids around and the Wii Speak hooked up you guys will get quite a treat - it will definitely break the illusion that my CAG avatar might have created in your mind ;).

I'd like to add some more about the WiiSpeak mic that I thought people would like to know - I don't know about the audio quality of it (since I can't hear myself talk, maybe I need to fiddle with the options more!) but I did find it really light and I discovered that it the cable was too short to stretch across the living from the TV to couch, which I say would be somewhere around 6'-7' (I'm not good at guessing lengths). Of course, I was trying to stretch it across the side of the room than having it lie directly between me and the TV, only because I didn't want anyone (or me) to trip over the wire.

This made me realize the second thing, that the WiiSpeak peripheral is really, really light. It has those sticky feet tabs on the bottom, but I hardly ever use them since I'm always moving the stuff around than fixing them in one place. This was kind of a problem, since I had stretched the cord to the limit, but since the WiiSpeak was so light, it'd slide off whatever surface I had placed it on and the cord would pull it back. I ended up tucking it against another cord so it would stay in place.

Yeah, there are also two other mushrooms, one which sells for 10k bells, and you have the random chance of picking up a mushroom which would be a piece of furniture from the Mush set, which you can get only this month and sells for 9,999 bells, I think.

I really don't know, the trees can be annoying, as they block a lot of the view. It's just like fishing, I try to fish and I can't see the fish when it gets in front of me. Or some stupid fish won't let me catch it as it goes near a Bridge and goes into the stone frame of it....

I'm just filling up the museum with fish I catch, and if they aren't new just sell them to Tom nook for profits.

My brother will be cutting down on my profit making as he plays and basically raids the dumpster, and Booker(right name?)'s storage. He likes to shake the trees as well a lot, and buy nearly all of Tom Nook's furniture and items... Thank god for fish and bugs... However I wake up earlier then him for school, so I can go on then and get all the items and then come back home from school then sell them, muahaha.

Also another thing I wish the developers would've added a Local Play multiplayer as it would allow for a family without a router to play with eachother while in the town doing things together. It'd be really cool. All we can do is hope and pray for the next installment to do this.

Well i made a town. Wanted to name it New Cameron, since my GC town was called Cameron, but it only allows 8 letters! So i went with Edenia, as in the Mortal Kombat realm. LOL.

I like it so far, im still getting used to the new view. It might be harder to find the X spots and money stones since the camera doesnt switch for each square of land like it did in the GC version.

Its cool that you dont have to send the fossils out in a letter to find out what they are, i just gave em to the museum guy and he told me what they were.

Damn i forgot to try out the screen shot option. Ill try that tomorrow unless i forget.

i had a pretty successful first day. i caught a ton of fish. and i'm hoping that a net goes on sale tomorrow, so i can catch some bugs. i've purchased a pretty solid outfit. though a little generic.

this time around i'm planning to fill the museum as i go. so every fish i get, it if it's the first time i've caught it, i'm taking it to the museum. i've got a list going of the fish i've caught, and i'm going to have to take note of the fish i need for november, so i don't miss anything.

and i think my plan for bells is to not pay off anything. and put all of my bells into turnips on sunday. and i'll try and multiply them sometime next week. speaking of, if anyone's nook is selling turnips for a ton of bells please invite me over.

Yeah, sorry, and actually he wanted to play Guitar Hero (which he is doing right now before bed). Then my other son (who has afternoon kindergarten so he stays up a bit longer) wants to play AC with his character. BTW he was the one fishing for me there at the end. He actually caught me a goldfish and a football fish, so that was actually somewhat productive ;).

I am loving this game. I played both the ds and gamecube versions. I love that it has on line. I don't like that people have to share towns, but I got over it. The gamecube version was better in that respect with the memory cards and different towns. The on line has worked great for me so far. I think there has been a good mixture of new stuff and old faves.

Did some fishing for today and caught Crucian Carp, Dace, Black Bass, Sea Bass, Zebra Turkeyfish, and football fish! Donated them all to my museum, the doubles i sold which were only the bass and dace.

I think she means you can only have one town on a given Wii and each player has to share that town. Luckily it worked out in my family because the 3 kids and I all want to play and there's just enough spots for all of us. It does make for pretty short play sessions unless I go online, though, as they tend to snap up all the good stuff before I get to it in the late evening :lol:. My daughter got the Forest Wall (from a mushroom).

I'd say the biggest disappointment is the inability to play at the same time with someone at home. They really should have added split screen play or something, or even just same screen though I could see lots of problems that would need to be addressed in that case. Split screen would probably work better. I mean, I used to play the DS game all the time with my daughter. She was able to play online in short doses and meet people and get new items just via my game (I'd open my town, she would visit + 2 CAGs). That was a hell of a lot better than letting her set up her own friends codes and all that. Of course that did require 2 DS's and 2 copies of the game. I suppose I could do the same thing now but it would require another Wii in the house (in addition to another copy of the game) while many households would already have multiple DS's so it was just a matter of buying 2 carts back then. I'm not quite willing to go as far as geting a second Wii just for Animal Crossing.

Just tonight my son wanted to go outside the town and visit people and I had to break it to him that he couldn't just go do that. I assume you need separate friend codes for EACH player in the town, right? He saw what I was doing earlier and really wanted to do that himself. Oh well, Nintendo disappoints yet another kid ;).

Sharing towns is fun. I used to have a lot of fun with my brother on the Cube version, we'd leave signs and funny things for each other. I used to leave junk outside his house all the time and put a sign outside his house that said dump. He once saved up a bunch of pitfalls and surrounded my house. Fun stuff.

Whatever happened to the dump anyway? One time I put a sign next to the Dump sign that said "Jeff took a big". Oh man I am so clever.

If you really do need more than one town, I suppose you could move the data to an SD card and make another one. But the AC save might be the type that you can't move.

Has anyone looked into the weather at all? I remember hearing a LONG time ago when they launched the forecast channel that the real weather in your city would actually relate to the real weather in your town. So if it was raining today in Memphis, it would be raining in my town. Seems kind of dumb, but it would encourage people to seek out friends with towns experiencing bad weather.

Can anyone verify this? If this is the case, maybe we should post our actual locations with our info so people can use it to get certain fish/bugs/items.

So far i'm really enjoying the game, i just wish it was easier for friends to come and go- without me having to open my gate all the time.

It was speculated this would happen, but it didn't. My call on this was dev laziness, but others said "this would imbalance the game." I.e., everyone in Seattle would ALWAYS be able to get the money fish, but those in drier areas (like me) would not be able to.

So no go on the weather integration.

I still think it's a shame. AC really has this amazing amount of potential - it just needs to be exploited. I.e., we need to find out Nintendo is going to spend 2-3 years developing the next one with a host of new features.

I'm pretty sure that was a rumor and didn't really work that way. Madden has an option to use "Sys" as the weather source but all that does it take into account the Date/Time of the console's system clock.

So if it is night on your system, it is night in the game. If it is December on your system and you are playing in a city that could get snow, it might snow.

I have the same problem. But you don't really need to "time travel" to fix that. Just, one time, set up your Animal Crossing clock to be a few hours behind the system clock (Rover will do that for you on startup for those who don't know). So yeah, you have to make one adjustment, but from then you can have it be 7 or 8pm in game when you start at 10pm real time. And if you make that initial adjustment before you start for the day you really aren't going back in time or anything - just starting that day off a bit earlier than it would have been. What's nice about this is that you don't have to fuss with your system clock to make this change since AC has it's own internal offset from the system clock.

i have the animal crossing disc sitting in my wii right now. i just did the system update out of the button in the wii message board. when it was finished updating, and it took me back to the wii menu... and the disc channel was telling me that i had a gamecube game in. i tried to run it and it gave me a disc error, but still kinda funny that, at first, even the wii thought this was just the gamecube game.

And then Io hooked up his Wii Speak. Which was an invitation for his kids to start talking.

"Talking" isn't the right word - it was chaos. Which I thought was a little extreme, but I had just mentally fatigued myself by constraining all manner of off color comments I could have made in the presence of his brood.

My WiiSpeak must work as well - Io reported my laughter on a few different occasions, as well as the fact that I was running AC in PIP when he first got there, so he got a full dose of The Office for a few minutes before I switched over to the game.

I still kept text chatting for....who knows what reasons. And pointer chat is TIRING. Blue asked me why I wasn't talking, and I assured him that it was because I was getting drowned out.

i have the animal crossing disc sitting in my wii right now. i just did the system update out of the button in the wii message board. when it was finished updating, and it took me back to the wii menu... and the disc channel was telling me that i had a gamecube game in. i tried to run it and it gave me a disc error, but still kinda funny that, at first, even the wii thought this was just the gamecube game.

Damn i screwed up my money rock today. I made a few holes behind me to stop me from sliding, then i hit the rock about 3 times, then my pointer went on screen and instead of hitting the rock again he filled up and hole and screwed it all up. :bomb:

Man, that is a good strategy! I never thought of that, even in all of the times I play AC on the GC.

The pointer functionality is the one thing about this game that really annoys me. I wish there was an option to turn it off completely. It constantly screws with what I am trying to do.

I put in hours upon hours of fishing today and payed off the 2nd upgrade on my house. Also got my first hybrid and talked with my townies a lot. They're pretty funny. A couple of them ripped me off but some of them gave me old wallpapers to trade to Sahara. Fun day :bouncy: I'll try to play some more later tonight.

Does anyone know where i can download that program that helps you make textures? You could load a pic into it, and it turns it into a pixel pic, showing you what colors to use. Like a paint by number thing. I used to have it when i played AC for GC.

i saw a flea at one point, but it got away from me. at least i think it was a flea, it wasn't on an animal it was just jumping around on the ground.
and i assume that if i just keep shaking trees, a spider will fall.
