I tried that once but I didn't have a watering can and flowers seem to survive on their own.... Went to check on them earlier this week and they had died (read: I walked over the spot where there should have been a row of flowers and realized, oh yeah, I planted flowers here). I now have a watering can but haven't tried making any hybrids.

Name and town isn't really needed. As long as the friend code is correct, the game will add in correct name and town once visited.

Also, jfunkdpg, The ACCF friend code is only 12 digits. You have to talk to Cooper in your town's gate to get your friend code.

Anyone else find that they can use a bluetooth keyboard with the Wii? I just checked and the Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 7000 (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=081) I use with my HTPC also works with the Wii no problem.

I just have very limited time to play video games, and after playing AC:CF exclusively for quite a while, I wanted to play other stuff. If I had more time for gaming I'd still be playing, though, as I've really liked AC:CF. The good news is that I haven't completed everything there is to do, so when i come back to it, and I'm sure I will at some point, I'll still have plenty to do.

I hope someone has good turnip prices tomorrow. I haven't had a week where I got less than 250 Bells per turnip, though I hadn't bought any the last few weeks. This past week, I bought at 93, passed on 131, and now I'm standing to lose a lot.

And I don't know why it took so long. I'm on almost every day and
night, and fish like crazy when it's raining, and this is the first one.
The bf is not amused, but he's the bug person, and I'm supposed to
be the fish person. I'd love to have a silver rod, but Nook hasn't had
one yet. He did get the silver net, so the bf is happy.

I also have one orange pansy (pretty!), one blue pansy, lots of pink
cosmos, and today found a purple tulip. Some things seem to grow
easier than others. I'd be really mad if my hybrids died while I was
gone from the game for a few days, so before I go on a long trip I
have to run around and pick all of them - they don't die in the
inventory. I suppose when the town is covered I won't be able to
do this, but since I have some colors that are only one-of-each, I
will have to take care of what little I have.

Have only gotten one catfish. One guppy. Fishing is difficult right
now, and I don't know why.

I'm jealous. I've not caught a coelacanth and I generally stay on for much longer than intended fishing when it's raining. I've caught all of those other fish you've mentioned though, so I suppose I'll just have to wait.

I've only ever caught coelacanth when it was winter. Been a long time since I've seen one.

The flowers in my town are slowly being replaced with gold roses since those don't wilt. I'll need more of them though. I wish there were other varieties of flowers you could turn gold. Once all of my flowers are replaced, it won't look as nice without all of the other colors or other types of flowers.

I like the little storyline they have going with the Able Sisters in this game (where an animal will sigh and you ask "what's wrong?" and they tell part of the story). I think it starts off with either Sable or Pelly, then a bunch of other animals in the game will bring it up - Nook, Gracie, Mabel, etc.

EDIT: It's June now! Time to catch a tarantula!! I already have one in my museum from buying it at a flea market in another town, but I still need to catch it to complete my encyclopedia (6 bugs left, and 1 fish).

does anyone know how and when to catch the new bugs and fish for june? I heard that you can get sharks, but i haven't caught any. I saw a tarantula tonight and almost had a heart attack. I also saw some type of a huge flying bug on trees but I couldn't get one.

The times to catch June bugs (http://accf.wikispaces.com/bugs) & fish (http://accf.wikispaces.com/fish) should be up on the wiki. I think sharks are 4pm to 9am, while hammerheads are supposed to be all day. I've caught one of each in my town so far. You should see a fin sticking out of the water for both of them. The ocean sunfish also has a fin that sticks out of the water.

I still haven't seen a pondskater at all. They were supposed to be out last month, but I didn't play much during the day in May.

The huge bug on trees is the oak silk moth. You'll probably want to catch a bunch of these and save them for the bug-off since they have pretty big wingspans and can get you enough points to win a bug-off. There's also another bug that's on trees that makes as loud a noise as the oak silk moth when it flies away - that one is the lantern fly.

So far I've only seen two tarantulas and they both went into the water. They're really rare during the times they're supposed to be out.

I started completely redoing my whole town. I'm gonna be chopping down a bunch of trees soon.

Thanks for the info! I saw the fin sticking out of the ocean and thought it was a shark. Turned out to be the ocean sunfish. lol I got a dorado today. I need the gar, arrowana, tarantula and the oak silk moth. I'm terrible with the flying bugs. My timing is bad.

So far, all six tarantulas I've seen have appeared near the water and either fell in it or disappeared. It makes me not like my forked river that much anymore since that means there's more water for the tarantulas to show up nearby. It's too bad they're not as easy to find as they were in Wild World. It takes a long time to find another one after you've seen one, at least for me.

That's a good tip. Thanks Miranda. Any luck with the pondskater? My town was the opposite, I couldn't find the diving beetle until June. Though pondskaters seem more common after 4pm.

My animals keep mentioning people I haven't seen in a long time. But most of the time they talk about DSturbia and trying to compete to be a better town than them. LOL. They also mention the convenience store in Nintendo a lot. And they talk about how much of a "bloom bud" Robert is.

I haven't seen the pondskater yet. I'll try after 4 pm. I mostly try during the day before then. At least I have until September to catch one.

Another bug you might want to save for the bug-off is a birdwing butterfly. I think those are worth the most points.

Time to get back to my tarantula hunting!

EDIT: We should be getting Flag Day DLC soon (June 14th). I wonder what it's gonna be.

However... this doesn't feel true with the Wii version? It seems like there are hardly any fish or bugs out... and I don;t mean species, I mean the number that are out at any given time. I have literally seen 4 bugs in the last HOUR (while running around looking for them). Likewise, very few fish, and even less that are worth catching. I remember things being a lot more plentiful in Wild World.

This game definitely is more fun during the summer since there's a lot more to catch. Nintendo should release the next game during summer instead of making it an end of the year holiday release.

I feel the same way about the occurrence of fish and bugs in the game - especially for ones that are considered "rare" - it's like they're so rare that you barely ever see them at all, which makes it annoying when you see something and don't catch it. I could probably turn on my AC:WW town right now and find at least two tarantulas in 30 mins - but in AC:CF you're lucky if you even see more than three of them in one night (during the whole 9 hours they're out).

July has a lot more bugs than June, especially the ones you find at night on trees. June introduces a few of them, but they're hard to find.

Overall, I think Nintendo kind of dropped the ball with this game, and I made sure they knew I was dissatisfied with it when I took my Club Nintendo survey for it. As much as I play this game, it's still not really the AC I was hoping for.

This is the technique I used:

- headphones (actually, PC speakers plugged into my TV and headphones plugged into those since I don't have an extension cable to make my cords longer)
- slowly walking through your town with your net out; it'll only bite you if you make quick movements (like swinging your net and missing or walking fast/running)

That's happened with a few tarantulas I've seen too. And don't forget the holding ponds!

But since I've done the headphones & walking slowly through town technique last night, I ended up seeing the most tarantulas I've ever seen in one night. They're not as rare as I thought they were - if you're wearing headphones you can definitely hear them a lot easier than actually seeing them.

I "heard" six of them last night.

The first one, I missed when I swung for it, then it bit me.

I think I went the wrong way when looking for the fifth one, so it got away, but I ended up catching the sixth tarantula I saw (with a 3rd character).

If you're walking slowly after it and have your net out, there's less of a chance that it'll go into the nearest body of water or disappear behind something.

All three tarantulas are being kept as pets for now. Maybe I'll submit one in the bug off tomorrow to see if Nat will want to eat it. :-P

If it's raining in your town, you won't see any tarantulas, unfortunately - they don't come out during the rain. :-( But I think rain makes more oak silk moths, lantern flies, and goliath beetles appear on trees. I've been trying to stock up on oak silk moths for tomorrow's bug-off, but keep scaring them away.

If it's raining in your town, you won't see any tarantulas, unfortunately - they don't come out during the rain. :-( But I think rain makes more oak silk moths, lantern flies, and goliath beetles appear on trees. I've been trying to stock up on oak silk moths for tomorrow's bug-off, but keep scaring them away.

Ooh, looks like the Nookington's in my town is finally downgrading back to Nook N Go! I voted on it with 3 characters a few days ago, so I wondered what was taking Nook so long to make the change. Nookington's was great for all the flower seeds, but I don't need any more. And he never sells any furniture I don't already have, so I'd rather have the better hours.

So far, it doesn't look like Janet's charm helped my turnip prices. Maybe it doesn't take effect until next week.

I didn't catch many bugs last night - well, a few, but most didn't get saved. Time for the Bug-Off!

sorry about not coming back after we got booted last night. I had to stop playing anyway. I thought the oak silk moth would be the big bug in the bug off competition today.. He gave me 72 points for it. I got over 100 points for the birdwing butterfly.

I was surprised that the oak silk moth is considered rare. I got 83 points in the bug-off for that, and 93 for the goliath beetle (which definitely is rare in my town). But the oak silk moths, I see at least 3 of them every day during any given 30-60 minute play session.

Just wanted to say hi again to a bunch of you, and bye. I traded in ACCF this past week with the 40% bonus credit deal @ GS, so I probably won't be on for a while. I had fun with Paul, Janet, and many others and hope to find you guys on other games.

Once I paid off the mortgages and got all the town upgrades the game left me wanting more. Collecting the bugs/fish was fun for a couple of months, but I guess I am not a die hard AC fan like many of you. I'm very curious to see what the next offering has, because there seems like great potential for enhancements.

Nook occasionally sells the silver slingshot, net, and rod in his shop. I've been playing since day one and this is only the second time he's had a silver rod.

Wow. I got the game in Mid-March, and I'd been wondering why the silver items weren't showing up. didn't know they were so rare. Thankfully, I did get the golden shovel as a gift, and the silver slingshot was in a gift box that I knocked down with my original slingshot.

I'd imagine a silver rod would have helped me catch a coelecanth, or whatever those huge fish in the river are that take your bait and leave. The little bastards are impossible to reel in.

My store (Nook N Go) is open until 1 AM, but the turnip prices are only good until midnight, after that it changes.

Just got this game yesterday (Blockbuster/GR B1G1 sale; Complete copy), but didn't start until today. Did pretty good on my first day:
- Got the Fishing Rod, Shovel, and Watering Can. Still need an axe, bug net, and slingshot.
- Made a bunch of money and put a lot of stuff in the museum by fishing, paid off the first loan, and deposited 100,000 bells into the bank for the prizes tomorrow.
- Caught two Coelacanths, donated one to the museum and sold the other.
- Got the invitation to Redd's store, bought a (forged) painting.
- About to go to K.K. Slider's show.

No scorpion for me yet. It rained the first few days at night this month, so they weren't out. I haven't really looked for one until last night and tonight. After waiting forever and a day to see another tarantula after missing the first one, I was taking the short walk from my beachfront home to Nook's store, and there was a scorpion bustling about th flower garden. Caught it on my first try. now I've gotten the tarantula and scorpion within a short period of time, and I am happy.

Thanks Matt, I was able to sell my turnips at 95 bells per turnip, so I was able to recoup most of my money. I was also able to buy the two tools (Axe and Slingshot) I was missing from Nook's, along with buying some other stuff (Two flower seed bags, Carpets/Wallpapers, and an Aloe furniture). On another note, I left two oranges from my town in the Town Hall's recycling bin, if you want them.

Is anyone else's character really tan? I thought I remember people complaining before the game was released that they took the tan feature out. I was really surprised to see my character looking tan. I don't play very much during the day, so my character doesn't get tan. If you want your tan to go away (or don't want to get a tan) and you play a lot during the day, just walk around with an umbrella. If you play mostly at night, you won't get tan since there's no sun at night.

I did end up with a tan back in February. One of the towns I visit keeps their clock 6 months & 12 hours behind (that way, there's always an open store to go to and different bugs/fish to catch and events going on). It's actually a few years behind too, so we can get the old New Years shirts. When I was in that town in February real time, it was August game time and I was there for a while catching stuff. Everyone who visited that town ended up getting so dark. LOL. After a while of walking around with an umbrella, my tan went away. But some of the other people stayed dark because they didn't use umbrellas.

Has anybody received the Dolphin model DLC yet? Delivery dates are 7/20 to 8/3. I haven't seen Pete except during his normal mail delivery times.

You have to have a really good friendship with your animals for one of them to meet you at your door to give you a cake. You don't get presents, but they'll mail you letters. The presents I'm talking about were the ones I shot down from balloons and didn't pick up. :-P

That's part of the reason why I never let anyone move out, so that I could be sure I'd get a cake. Every time someone new moves in you have to start over from the beginning to be good friends with them.

BTW, turnips are 197 in my town right now.

Yeah, that's probably why. I set up a character last year when I got the game in December and I made his birthday January 1st and all he got was the greeting from Rover and the 5000 bells from mom and no cake or anyone else acknowledging it was even his birthday.

LOL, that's so true about animal birthdays. I miss the birthday parties that they had in Wild World.

I haven't sent my Wii in yet. I printed my label, but I have no box to ship it in since someone here got rid of all the boxes I was saving to ship stuff in. :bomb: I didn't get any boxes to open for my birthday since all of my gifts came in envelopes.

So, I'm still playing for now, and surprisingly my Wii hasn't had any problems since August started. Now I don't want to send it in to Nintendo with it working properly the way it has been since they might not find anything wrong with it.

OMG, I think I did one of the most "rookie" Animal Crossing mistakes the other day. I was trying to put my turnips on the table and I ate 100 turnips! Both funny and sad at the same time I guess.
