No, you need to go tell the Guard Dog on the Right (Forget his name, lol) to open the gates. But, if you keep the game on and don't turn it off, the gates will stay open.

So I guess you can have your gates open 24/7, as long as you keep the game on for 24/7.

No. Your gate is only open if you explicitly (love using that word correctly) open it. I am forgetting what the dog on the right's name is at the gate at the very top center of your town. Talk to him and ask him to "invite friends."

Let me check to see if there's a Jingle sofa...it seems that when it comes to nailing a whole furniture set, I'm either drowning in sofas, or coming up dry.

Yeah...just went crazy with all the flowers. But I recently went to Romeo's town, and it looks like he just stashed a bunch, and has 2 or so big plots of hybrids to keep and share, and that's it. Here I am, and I already have the perfect town (did not even try, it just happened...had no intention of even attempting it) and so that means I got the 3 things you get...the golden watering can, the Jacob's Ladder flowers, and also rare shrooms in November. So there's no reason to keep this up. I mean, a few months ago it would take me a whole straight half hour to do chores in town every day, and I've been playing for a year straight. Then again, it's not like I have a life right now.

Alright, so today I got my Nintendo Wii back, quite happy about that! So, I'll be playing AC:CF again, and Wa-Keen, I'll add you when I hop on AC:CF.

But, here's a question for all of you late-night AC:CF players: Is there a lot of stuff to do at night in City Folk? I mean, I went on one night and it seemed like a lot of my town's people were up.

I just got this game, but it's pretty similar to AC for the DS. Some things* you can only find or do at night.



*Fish for the rare night stuff
*Look around for rare night bugs on trees or crawling around (if a tarantula or scorpion is nearby, you'll hear this weird sound - careful, they bite)
Look for the Money Rock with a shovel
Visit animal neighbors who are up and they send you on errands and give gifts (sometimes you have to talk to them more than once to get this)
Letter-writing (with a gift inserted) to neighbors to get letter gifts from them in the morning
*Saturdays, 8pm-12am, go to the Coffee Shop and get songs from KK to play in your [music furniture] like a radio, turntable, etc
Shake trees for bags of bells or furniture (but watch out for beehives)
*8pm or later, meet Wisp the Ghost and he gives you 1 wish out of 3 choices

This game is pretty much the DS version, with better graphics and a couple more things to do (Well make that a few).

Can you see Wisp the Ghost every night, or only once in awhile? I need to start playing this a lot more again, I didn't have my Wii for a while either.

You should probably just wait iRent, I think they may be releasing either a new Animal Crossing in a little bit, since the announcement of the Nintendo 3DS will definitely have Animal Crossing on it in a year maybe.
You could pick the game up pretty cheap, but the game is alright. It still has the nice charm and stuff of the first game, but it's just not as good as the first game.

I'd love to play with people, since I have some pretty good ideas for Wi-Fi games. I mostly got the ideas after watching this guy's Youtube videos.

Does anyone else tend to leave this game for a few months, only to come back and start again anew? I've owned all three Animal Crossing games, and I always tend to stop playing after a couple months, only to come back a half a year later to try again.

The best part is that it is still as addicting as ever. I have been playing this enough to pay off my house debt completely every day. I feel like it used to take me forever to do this.

I don't think I can go back. I was hooked on the game- actually, the entire series- but things became so tedious in this one after some time. I hope the sequel can offer some new stuff while not changing the basic formula of the series.

Yeah, I loved the Gamecube version quite a lot, I'm starting to wonder if it was due to my young age, or if it is due to this version of Animal Crossing... Maybe it's also the weirdness of not being able to play with a Wired Controller for some reason... Hm... These questions I wonder. However, I think Animal Crossing 3DS will most definitely be a bit different, as from screenshots the characters all seemed to be taller. Maybe this is to help the 3D effect? Who knows.

I still play it. I worked all of June except for three days and my town took a beating. It really is bad that your flowers will die so quickly. I am starting to lose interest as there is nothing left for me to do but get these flowers the way I like them and have a great memory of the game. I never could find enough friends to visit.

Well, the game is very addictive. I had gotten to the point where I was setting my clock in real life JUST TO GET UP AND WATER THE FLOWERS...

I loved the Game Cube and DS versions (Game Cube one was the best), and I just got City Folk. Hopefully I will enjoy it as much as i did the GCN and DS versions.

I loved the Game Cube and DS versions (Game Cube one was the best), and I just got City Folk. Hopefully I will enjoy it as much as i did the GCN and DS versions.

Thanks! I remember how hard it was to get all the fruits on Wild World and would love any help I can get lol. My Wii is currently offline (not compatible with my wireless network) but I'm going to get a USB adapter so I can hook it up to my router.

My brother and sister have been playing Animal Crossing City Folk a bit in the past few days. It's going to get annoying, when the 3DS version comes out and they keep nagging me to play.

I am not a big fan of handhelds... but I might just get this one....

Is this game going to get an uptick in play now that it's part of the "Selects" line? If so, I could potentially be up for some online. I haven't played in eons, but my kids were playing it the other day and it got me to thinking....

I don't have the game anymore, but it is a Nintendo Select now at $20, so not too bad.

Yep, I plan on picking it up along with Super Mario Galaxy and two others at Fry's on Sunday for the $10 off two Selects deal.

For the time being I'm bumming a copy of AC off a friend though, and am really enjoying it. The enhancements over the GC version are great.
