Wow. I said it doesn't matter if it works perfectly, or is terrible. That isn't my problem with it.

My beef is that others in the room HAVE to hear what online people are saying unless I use headphones.
And much like IO, I'd rather not have other people in the living room/kitchen area hearing what they say sometimes.

After you do Nook's beginning chores (delivery, planting, sign, etc), go talk to Copper. He's the right dog in your gate. He'll issue you a FC.

If you go before finishing Nook's chores, you won't be able to get it.

If you enter the FC right, the name and town can be anything. It fixes as soon as you meet up with that person. Several people on my friends list, before meeting with them, were named h and they lived in g.

The developers have seemed to scrap the idea of trying to make a profit from selling their items. I mean seriously, they expect us to actually fish, catch bugs, and get fruit to get cash. It's pretty rare to see a animal ask you to do something for them, if you ever get the chance to do a job for them, I would not let it slip you by.

I was quite annoyed with this as well, you talk to them and they say random stuff. It's a lot better then GC as they'd just keep telling you how to do stuff. Like plant a tree, etc for like a week.

You need to post up your gf's Friend Code. She can get this by going into the town gate and talking to the guy on the right (Copper). There should be an option in there for "Friend Code." It'll be a 12-digit number XXXX-YYYY-ZZZZ. Post it up along with her character name and town name.

Then she can add people to her friends list, and we can do the same. Then she'll be able to visit other towns/let people visit her's.

Might want to show her this thread or something too - lots of good information in it. People will post what fruits they have and when turnip prices are high and so on.

Strell, you're up late... or early... I just finished playing and as it was snowing I was trying to catch our big friend - but this time I didn't even see one to have the chance to miss it. I also had to deal with Sahara for a bit. If you are staying up any longer I could open back up.

If anyone has a solution for the paths trod into the ground please let me know. It doesn't seem that planting trees or flowers makes any difference, though maybe it hasn't been long enough. Can anyone who has the guide see if it says something about this? I tried Google but pretty much all it comes up with are my very posts in this thread (d'oh!). I can't believe no one else has this problem.

That doesn't sound right. How in the world would I go to someone else's village without them opening the gates?

Edit 2: Wait, maybe I'm reading it wrong. I think it means that, say, your own NPC might visit a friend's town that you've gone to. Or something. I dunno. This is a little confusing. If I can go to someone else's place without them being around, that makes kitten rescuing a lot easier.

I'm up late because I'm preparing Thanksgiving dinner this year. Had to inject the turkey, make cornbread, tea, and prepare other small things. It's all out this time.

Tomorrow will be a long day of cooking, eating, playing Aminal Crossing, and watching movies. Sounds pretty good, actually.

I think it is a horrible change to be honest - it makes finding the digging spots nearly impossible because everything is patchy and ragged.

As for the NPCs and rumors and such, I did have one of my animals say something strange to me today. He tried to buy something off me and when I refused he said something about how he shouldn't believe the rumors then. I'm thinking maybe I sold something to an animal in someone else's town and word spread about that? Or it was just some stupid thing Rolf said that doesn't mean anything. It would be pretty cool if it was the former, though.

Anyway, I'll definitely be home and playing AC tomorrow. In fact, I'm feeling so nauseous right now that I may be doing it instead of eating. I haven't eaten much of anything today and the prospect of a big dinner sounds horrible to me right now (I have some sort of stomach flu and 2 of the 4 kids have strep - fun times).

I don't know how accurate the interview is, considering that it was probably conducted months ago, but here it is:

So as the player walks around, the grass is gradually worn away. We made it so that it starts to grow back after a day has passed.

Remember that while the grass will slowly grow back, the speed at which it grows will change depending on the environment. If it's an area full of trees and grass, or where flowers are planted, the grass will grow back more rapidly.


I'm not sure what the effect of 27 years has on the growability is, or even if that still exists. But maybe you could experiment with time traveling and planting some trees/flowers to see if it helps any. Also try to avoid walking on worn down areas as that is supposed to contribute to the loss of grass over time. Personally, I don't mind it as I feel it is one of those small details that adds something to the game even if the textures are a little less detailed.

I did kind of "cheat" before I went out of town this weekend, as I wanted to be able to experience the Harvest Festival since I'm visiting family. Might be a little early, but I picked up a bunch of extra furniture in the Harvest Set that I need to trade to help complete the set. I don't remember what I had off-hand, but wanted to see what extras other people picked up.

Alright, I'll let her know. I spoke to her about it yesterday, she's never played a game online so she's a little uneasy about people coming to her town. I told her it's not a big deal, but I don't know. I think it'll be best if somebody shows her how it is by inviting her to their town. I'll come back soon for an update, FC and all. I kind of wish I had this game, but I have a PS3. I have a character living in her town, but I don't get a chance to play much.

No they just say thanks, and tell you where the bird is. Then you go get another set of knives and forks and go get the bird!

Oh, now it's we?!?! You can bury things, yes. You should get a dresser or something, but in the meantime, put it on the ground, garbage dump, in letters, or in the ground. The items will not disappear and neighbors won't take them. RELAX.

So quick question for all the City Folk die hards here... I am really torn about getting in on the BF deal at Amazon to get this for $39.95. I have AC on both the Gamecube and DS. The Gamecube version always felt a bit "cumbersome" to me and I found myself not taking the time to really get into the game deeply. The DS version, on the other hand, entirely sucked me in and hasn't let go.

That said, I love the idea of the game and was really gung ho about getting CF but it's been nagging at me since the Amazon deal list came out that the reason I play the DS game so much is because it's portable... and at the same time it sounds like CF really has very, very little new for people who have already played the past games..

So I figured I'd ask here-- especially now that the game has been out for a little while and people are settling in-- for someone like me, who has played Wild World to death and is concerned they may not have the time to get properly into the console version, is there enough new here to warrant buying it AT ALL? (I know the Amazon deal is amazing but it really seems like there's not enough new here to warrant a purchase...)

The thing I like least about CF is that I have to play it on my TV. My Wii is in the den, and everytime i'm on an AC marathon, i always feel guilty that i'm hogging the room and my wife has to go do something else.

I'm about to open my town up. I have a ton of cherries (i.e. more than I know what to do with), and should have some of every other fruit (including coconuts). All I ask is that you bring some fruit other than cherry to replace any that you take. Additionally, Nook's has a slingshot.

Yeah I was able to get on it.

It's just how Amazon works, they set an unlisted amount of something for a sale price, and when they hit that number they revert it back.

It was up for an hour or two after 3:00 AM EST on Friday (when the sales on Amazon started)

the gold makes money trees, but the silver one lets you knock more money out of rocks.

I personally think the silver shovel would be more useful. It's not like you have to choose though. I'll probably just leave my gold shovel in storage until I need to use it, and do my everyday work with the silver.

For the first time in a western Animal Crossing game, you can visit him in City Folk. By entering the City at around 8pm, the cones at the right of the City will part allowing you to enter. There you can find either him (Resetti) or his brother Don, whoever is there will give you a Silver Shovel. There is no set day for this to happen, it happens at random. Sometimes whilst visiting Resetti, you can hear Dr. Shrunk's comedy act and the animals laughing.

1. I just paid enough to get the extra bridge, and there were 2 selection spots, is the one i picked going to win for sure? Because the location i picked is where its really needed, the other area i could put it had another bridge 10 feet away.

2. There is a house that a user can move into right where i want to build the new bridge and its in the way. I thought i saw somewhere asking if i wanted to demolish a house, but now i cant find it. Is there really that option?

3. When you get a basement, can you actually use wallpaper or carpets in them this time? I didnt like how you couldnt use them in AC for GC.

So, like.. is the City really just what it is? It's neat that you can go visit Mr Resetti and his lover brother, but that's random. What about the other side? The gates that lead to a tunnel. Nothing, right?

Nope. You can use them for, say, hide and go seek, but that's about it.

They randomly appear on tree stumps- like mantis appear on flowers.

I just cut down all the trees i know i want to replace, and left the stumps there for a few days to collect a bunch and sell. It helped that most of the stumps were near nooks (quick cashing).

1.) Lobsters are about as big as sea bass! I think. Neon Tetras are quite small. So, make sure to catch the small ones! In the ocean, right?

Yeah, we went through the paths thing with Io a few posts back.

It's meant to give the impression that your town is "lived in," but since all it really does is erase the grass texture and replace it with the sand/ground texture, it doesn't look clean. It looks like mud prints at first, and then like mud, and then finally like you're (as Hank Hill would say) a drunk.

Now if they'd rendered all the grass in 3D and then have small pathways emerge from bent grass into sandy trails, it would look awesome.

As it stands, it's like something Peter Molyneux would think up and hype beyond belief as proof he doesn't suck.

I saw that you guys talked about the paths and stuff, but I haven't been hit with them until now, so now I know how bad it is! It would be nice if they had let Wisp the ghost get rid of the paths, or if you could plant grass, blah blah blah. I think having trees and flowers is supposed to restore the grass in Spring.

Lilboo, in Wild World, Lantern Flies could be found from June to September. The Dung Beetles were near snowballs. Centipedes can be found by hitting rocks.

Yep, 32. I never quite figured out why exactly we have limits on Friend Codes. Maybe to keep the save file under a certain amount of blocks? Anyone happen to know the average number of FC's you can have in other WFC enabled games? I know Brawl had 64, I doubt that being a dual layer disc or whatever would have an effect on the FC limit, but I know nothing about anything regarding data, space, etc.

You know what... I'll just leave it alone, I'm not even maxed out anyway. This goes back to the whole Nintendo vs. online gaming argument that ultimately goes nowhere :roll:
