I'm new to Vista and I've been scouring the net for help to no avail.

I installed Vista on a new PC I built and all was working fine. I left for the weekend and when I came back something was up.

1. I cannot browse a lot of websites (CAG, Microsoft.com, about half of the sites I try).

2. I cannot update Windows via MS (the ping times out).

3. Deleting/Reformatting the HDD using another PC w/ the XP setup disc does not work, this leads me to believe it is a virus.

If anyone could help me I'd be much obliged.

Thanks.

Check the boot priority in your bios. Is it set to boot from the CD/DVD drive first?

Yeah, I've gone as far as making it my only boot drive.

Boot priority is what usually determines the boot order. If you have this set to cdrom first then it should boot off the cd right of the bat.

Might seem silly but is your date/time correct?

I'll check the date/time when I get home.

I'm able to boot from CD/DVD when I delete/reformat, however once I reinstall Vista I'm back to square one. Gimped internet (which worked on the first install) and the boot ignoring my saved settings and going to the HDD.
