I just got settled in at a hotel in atlanta after leaving florida from the hurricane, which is headed right for my house. The traffic was freking horrible, at one point, iwent 14 miles in 3 hours on the turnpike, and now I am using one of thos crappy internet through tv services at the hotel, whic of coure is dial up, so I am typing faster than the words are appearing. Th funniest thing was, when i went out to dinner tonight, we had a cab driver who didtn' speak much english, but he kept telling us how muc hatlant sucked, and asking philosofical questions, which were no joke to him. well, anyway I a mgoing to thro somthing through the tv if i dont get off, so ill type somthing again in t morning, sorry about the typos, i cant help it on thisstupid thing.

Right now I'm working at a Fox news station down in Miami. It got weaker down to a catagory 2 and it's just sittin there in the Bahamas. These 12 hour shifts suck, but it's good money. Like someone said earlier another Hurricane is on its way. But I guess we're not even reporting on that one. I guess our meteoroligist is playing psychologist and trying to keep people at ease.

By the way where do you live? Vero Beach or something? I used to live in that area, it's where I grew up and went to school? I'm just curious about CAG in my area.

Good question.

The other storm is T.S. Ivan, I don't think it'll do much other than the emotional damage to everyone. I am working Alpha/Bravo(12 hour shifts/no days off) right now at the Homestead Police Dept. So far we got some wind and that's it. I am glad it bypassed us, but am worried for North Florida (namely Punta Gorda again) since Charlie Ran through there. My games are safe :-) But the best I can do here gamewise is my GBA.

I was only ever evacuated for one hurricane. I was on vacation in Myrtle Beach when hurricane Bertha came through. We were evacuated one morning and I was sooooo hungover. It was a total nightmare. I feel for those people who go through this every year.

*sigh* I'm staying put, just going to tough it out. Again. GBASP charged. Again. Nothing left to do but wait and see where, how, and when it goes. Again.

I live in South Miami (in between Coral Gables & Kendall) and I'm just gonna tough it out. Been sitting home since Thursday morning. No protection on my windows (rented condo), just hoping for the best. So far I haven't seen anything...we'll see today (Saturday). I'm not scared yet since it's my first hurricane (moved from NJ April of this year). So until I face it, I won't know what I'm in store for. It is a good excuse to sit home and catch up on some games and dvds. Especially those mounds of sealed titles from the CC & TRU house cleanings!

That was a bitch. Didn't get hit too bad but I had friends who had to stay inside while there was 4-6 feet of flooding.

yeah I live north of atlanta> For some reason there have been a lot of Flordia drivers oin the roads here! Damn its scary a buch of old timmers who can't drive ( or see for that point) Driving like bats out of hell! The roads are freakin scary man! Its like destruction derby but the cool thing is no tv or controllers for this game! Just open your windows turn on the news and watch a buch of crazy drivers rammin and hittin into things. The coolest thing is getting passsed then getin the finger from a 80 year old man. I love it when hurricans come into town!

I'm in Orlando, FL and it's pretty tame outside right now. Although it should be getting worst in a while. My main concern is how long were going to be without power because being in FL in the summer without power and no AC is no fun.

Strange. I grew up in Southern California but I've always relatives there. My maternal grandparents retired to Miami and two of my mother's sibling raised their families there. All my life whenever one of us has visited the other I've been lectured as to how terrible it surely is to live in a place plagued by earthquakes. I've never felt compelled to ask how they can stand the violently energetic air in their region. To date my losses from earthquakes have been measured in the tens of dollars. THeir losses from hurricanes have been measured in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. But they still think earthquakes are just the scariest friggin' thing that could ever happen to a person.

Oh well, make what preparations you can, sit tight, and wait it out. A good long book could be just the thing. I suggest this one:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0812533453/qid=1094342392/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/102-6245537-3256901?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Lots of gratuitous sex and before it's over the entire Pacific Coast is wiped out.

Well in Tallahassee, it was sunny all day. If there were no new and outside communication, and someone told me a hurricane was coming very soon, I would never belive the person.

All hurricane Charley did here was rain and rain. Nothing else.

Just decided to turn on my pc again after Frances.

It wasn't that bad for me down here, but it was pretty nasty. Never lost power either - only lost cable tv.

I feel sorry for all the people recovering from Charley - not to mention that there is another hurricane on the way - Ivan.

I live in Parkland, FL (north Broward county); the wind and rain were pretty bad last night but we never lost our electricity or water throughout this whole thing. I've been off since Thursday and have managed to finish the last third of Kingdom Hearts and most of ICO (I'm at the western gate). Both fantastic games, esp. Kingdom Hearts.

Ivan better change course; I already missed out on two Cubs-Marlins games this weekend I had tickets to and I don't want to miss out on the Dolphins season opener next weekend
