Like this one? http://www.rockband.com/ I just want the black and white background image to play with.

Is this what you wanted? http://www.rockband.com/images/page-bkg.jpg

Typically you would look at the website's main .css file and take whatever image is used in the background property in the body selector.

Yeah, I know. tl;dr :s

Yup. Awesome. Thanks!! Now, is there a way to change the colors in Photoshop or something? Like if I gave it to someone who knew what they were doing could they modify it a bit without too much trouble?

Shouldn't be hard at all - Replace Color can handle that. Seems like it's mostly two tone (black vs not black) so it should be quite easy to do.

You make arcade machines that morph into submarines and electric dreams. You could figure it out, my man. But someone could do it ez. :]

Yeah, they should be able to.

I had no problems recolouring it just now with Duotone. If the background colour needed to change, that's another story that I don't have experience with.

yeah, I can build stuff by hand but I'm not so good with the computer. I'm tempted to try Photoshop myself but I have a feeling that would take hours and hours and hours to learn.

Nah, just look at one tutorial http://www.photoshopcafe.com/tutorials.htm a day and sooner or later you'll be able to do a lot.

Awesome Strell - how did you do that?

Awesome Strell - how did you do that?

I could make it other colors for you if you needed.

I dropped it into Photoshop (I'm using an older version so these steps might not be 100% the same depending on how recent a copy of PS is). Did Image -> Adjustments -> Auto Contrast in order to make the background show up a lot more clearly. This should be the first step before doing anything else listed below, by the way.

From there, you have a few different options. I'm not a PS expert, and honestly, color confuses the absolute shit out of me in there. So I might not be doing this in any kind of "good" way so to speak, but really all I'm saying is that you can try out different things and try to get a result you like. Point being is that I tend to just fool around until I find an option that works, or I look up a tutorial or something.

Anyway, I went into Image -> Adjustments -> Selective Color. Then I chose "Neutrals" from the drop down menu at the top. Then I just messed around with the slider bars until I had a color that had replaced all the neutrals that I liked. So in the example above, all the grays become a pink color. Then I did the same for "Blacks" until it had that purply color. You could also do the same for "Whites" if you wanted, but I left them white because I think it gives some nice contrast without being overbearing.

Another option is to go into Select -> Color Range. It'll give you an Eyedropper tool and you can click on whatever color you want to replace. So, if you click on the black background and click on ok, it'll select all the black areas. Then you can get the Pen tool, select any color you want, and paint right over all the black areas. You can repeat this with the whites/neutrals as needed.

I thought you could do Image -> Adjustments -> Replace Color, but all that does is modify the existing color's hue/saturation/lightness. In other words, if you've got a black, you can't change it. Think of this as "I can't inject a color into another color."

Let me know if this helps or if there's anything else I can do for yas.

Additionally, if you're using Firefox, you can right click on the page > view page info, click on the media tab and it should show all images loaded on the page.

Awesome info. Thanks. I'm going to try and mess around with Photoshop assuming I can get a copy of it from a friend or something. Anyway, I made this in MS paint(!) - it is the marquee for my jukebox. It needs a lot of work but it is a start, I think.

The background is from the rockband.com website and the radio dial is just something I found using a Google Image search. Ideally I'd like to make it look more professional (crisper lines) and probably redraw the entire dial with all the numbers (since the pic I snagged isn't a perfect circle by any means). Finally, instead of the random text that you can barely read, I'd like to add a personal touch like maybe "Mfg. by Javery 2008" or something.

If anyone wants to take a stab at it I'd be eternally in your debt. The final image needs to be 300DPI (or close) and be these exact dimensions:

The dial image is this:

The final image will go here:

I would love to do that dial because I'm totally into OCD geometric diagrams, but I am so, so booked at the moment. :[
