I just got a DVD burner, and I tried to install it and it didnt work. The DVD seems to burn on the disc, but when I try to read the files I burned, it shows nothing. I tried it 3 times with 2 different brands or DVD+R. I got the same result each time. Somebody please help me.

What software are you using? If you burning DVD's try DVD Shrink

dvd shrink and dvd decrypter are the best when u want to burn dvds. Make sure youve updated the firmware for your dvd burner and also updated windows. It might be a stability error corrected with newer bios's/drivers

What are you trying to burn, and what are you trying to read it with?
Is the dvd actually burning?
Is your burner a +r or -r and are you using the correct media?
Have you tried reading the discs somewhere else?
Have you tried reading discs that have been written somewhere else?
Are the burns completing successfully in Nero?
Have you tried the verify option in Nero?
Have you tried different types of files and different burning methods?
Have you tried any burning software other than Nero?

Im using both dvd drives on my computer to read it.
The dvd looks like it burned.
The box says it is a +r and -r and I am using +r.
I have also tried the disc I burned on my dvd player that can read dvd-r and dvd+r.
The burns are succesful in nero.
I have not tried the verify option. Doesnt that just tell you if the files burned on to the disc?
I tried to make a data disc and I tried to backup a movie.
I tried dvd shrink, but I think it uses nero to burn the disc.

The verify option goes through the disc and checks to make sure it burned correctly, takes a little while. I'd try that.
Dvd Shrink doesn't use Nero either, I'd try that too.
Do you have show hidden files enabled?
Can you try a -r disc?

I just went and returned it at fry's. The interesting thing is that I saw 3 boxes of the same dvd burner that were returned. I guess I wasnt the only person with a problem with it. Then I went to look for another dvd burner, and one of the employes just came and put the exact same dvd burner that I returned back on the shelf. Does fry's always do this, because mine just opened last saturday and I'm not familiar with how fry's works. Anyways, I didnt get another dvd burner yet.

Ouch. Coasters blow, especially on those expensive DVDs.
