Hi, sorry if this has been addressed before but I searched and couldn't find anything.

If I purchase a physical copy of the Orange Box(or any other game) install it on PC #1, and activate it on Steam, could I then go to PC #2 with steam and download a digital copy without having to install the physical game disc on PC #2?

If so, do I then get unlimited digital downloads of any product that I register with steam and in theory no longer need the physical copy after activation?

Correct, but only one of those digital copies can be played at any one time.

Yes once you activate a physical product made by Valve you no longer need the physical disc in the future because the products in which you registered will be permanently attached to your account. So anytime you install the Steam client on another computer and log in using your account, it will download all the games that you own on that computer. But the account can only be signed in on one computer at a time.

Yeah, you can toss your CD (I would keep the cd key card just incase). All you need is your steam ID and password and you can play your games pretty much anywhere forever.
