Has anyone else ever had this happen? I was checking my bank account and I've got charges for the new Tales game and Mirror's Edge which have shipped, but I've also got a $65 charge which doesn't correspond to any of my orders. The only orders I've got that come to that amount were both shipped last month.

I'd say wait a day or two and if it doesn't disappear, dispute it.

Are you sure about Mirror's Edge? Hasn't that basically shipped like in the last day or so? Unless you were charged for both games already before and a random 65 dollar charge shows up. If so then dispute it.

Well I've got three charges from GameStop.com right now, one matches my order total for Mirror's Edge exactly, one matches my order total for Tales of Symphonia 2 exactly, and then there's a third $65 charge I can't identify. I don't have any open orders that match that amount. I've emailed GameStop to see if they can do anything, if not then I'll dispute it.

It could be a temporary hold on your account by GS. It should be taken off in a matter of days and placed back into your account. Companies do it around this time of year for fraud purposes...and no that does not mean that they think you're committing fraud. Actually it's quite the contrary. During this time of the year, online retailers get a large volume of orders as we all know.

Some of those orders are placed fraudulently, ie someone used a credit card number and name that was not theirs to purchase items for themselves. Companies place a temporary hold on orders so that the amount of the order is increased and more noticeable. What do I mean? Well, are you going to notice a charge of $60 against your account or $120? $60 doesn't LOOK that bad when compared to something with 3 digits in it. People go, "Did I make this purchase? Oh that's right I did," or "Wait, no I didn't." It's a security measure for them and you.

I worked in the fraud department of a major bank so that's why I know this information if you're wondering. You should be fine, but if the funds aren't placed back into your account, go ahead and call the company. Calling is better than e-mailing in these situations...trust me.
