It could be good, or it could be incredibly stupid.

Let's see...PBS...not branded as a Nova special...I vote for stupid. I'm going to watch it anyway, though.

I know. All too often if there is a documentary on a subject you know really well you find yourself wondering if the creators had any prior experience with the subject matter. It's especially bad with video games. The documentarians are either clueless and regard the subject in a disdainful patronizing manner. "Incredible sums of money for cultural garbage," is what often comes across.

Just as bad is when the would-be journalist is an overenthusiastic fan who has no capacity for objective thought. These are the guys screaming bloody murder when a company makes a rational business decision that doesn't cater to their whims.

I call shenannigans on that audio quiz. In several places they use home console version instead of the arcade. This made me miss the Gauntlet answer since the arcade machine had a sampled rather than synthesized voice. The version they use (from somewhere I can't identify) is so hard to understand I assumed it was the answer least familiar to me.

I think it will be pretty funny to see the old fotage, the huge computers needed to play pong and the paddles and ball barley move and everyone is just sooo amazed.

Hmm, sounds like PBS is running out of subjects for their "educational programming". But I'll probably watch it anyways.

On Oregon Public Broadcasting, it's either already aired, or not airing at all, at least in the next two weeks. Drat.

Overall I thought is was pretty descent, it gave a good history of gaming, which I liked.

Could have done without the blind girl though, but whatever.

I thought it was actually pretty good, with the exception of it was very jumpy along the time line. My other complaint was that there wasn't any back story of what lead up to certain things "just happening", especially the segment on MK.

I agree with most of what was said above. I started watching it and about 45 minutes in I changed channels. They really didn't focus on certain concepts that should have been discussed. There was a lot of game footage strewn throughout, and the overall "story" wasn't that bad. It did however feel like they were trying to cram too much into two hours, and things did "just happen". I turned it back and watched the last half of it. Overall I'd give it a solid 5 out of 10.

The footage was a bit all over the place but there was some cool stuff too. The interviews were kind of cool even if they were short. I liked seeing Miyamoto and Molyneaux. The old Tetris commerical was suprising. I hadn't seen that in a LONG time. I fell asleep halfway through though. I had been playing DDR and I was tired. I got the show on tape though. I'll watch the rest tonight after football and Smackdown.

Just finished watching it. Ridiculous beginning, ridiculous ending, otherwise I enjoyed it. I was expecting far more misconceptions than were actually present. I wanna punch that old woman in front of her grandkids though. Those of you who've seen it know who I'm talking about.

I missed the very beginning. I thought the program sucked for the most part. The video was all over the place. They talk about great games such as Mario and then show Super Mario 4 and 64. The should have showed Super Mario Bros. Since that was the game that really started the home revolution for the second round.

Also, they stated that Zelda 2 came out on the SNES to compete with Sonic on the Genesis.

The violence BS with commentary by some people was total BS and a waste of time.

I caught that as well. I for one was glad that they included the violence debate, even though I disagree with the idea that anything but social ostracism and bad parenting were the cause of the Columbine incident. How many people play DooM? How many became killers? Only 2 by my count.

Does anyone have it recorded or know of a place where I can download it?
