Over 100 copies in stock. I think this game had a re-release or something. I saw some new copies for $20 at the local Gamestop also.

I haven't played it but from reading the review at Gamespot it seems like it's a good game not great. This quote had me rethink purchasing it though:
"The save system presents its own set of problems. You can save at one of several save points throughout the game, but if you load a save, it's destroyed. This means that you essentially need to play through the game in one try. If you've spent a few hours, are near the end, and a problem with the game camera causes you to get killed, you're out of luck and have to start back at the beginning. "

If I remember correctly you also lose whatever items and swords you had if you die before finishing the game.

Well, doesn't that sound like fun. :(

Thanks for the quote, you just shortened my to-buy list by one title.
Maybe not saving is the way of the Samurai? You know, something to do with honor and such.

I couldn't get into it at all, found I didn't care which story path I ended up with and that time limit made it very, very short. As Cheapy said its a rental.

Thats crazy, but that would be interesting and if the game is any good then maybe it would be worth buying.

yea I gotta agree with ya, the saving system blows so much compared to WOTS 2. If you die with your good swords your screwed unless you can backup the file with another memory card.

I've had WOTS for a while. it's an extremely short game but with multiple endings, the major events are scripted to occur at certain points and you get to influence them if you;re around to see them some enemies you can choose to fight or not which reflects who becomes your allies or enemies.
The save game feature basically what it does is let you save at a chapter break, the game will go to the title scree and you can go eat dinner but when you return the save will be erased which means if you wanted to you could copy the save to another card and still return to that point again if you wanted to but seeing as the game can be very short it isnt really neccesary.
You collect swords by beating certain enemies, if you die the special sword you carry is lost. Also your sword can break if it's hit while blocking or parried too many times. The fighting is well designed though and you can take your weapons to the blacksmith to repair them...aslong as you dont kill him.
The worst part of the game is that it takes place durring the end of the samurai era in japan so regardless of the path you choose it tends to end the same... let me put it this way, you might as well call your character after Tom Cruise's form "The Last Samurai" I'm kinda wondering how they can do a second game unless it's a prequel.

What cheapy said.
BTW Way of the Samurai 2 is suppose to have a simular save system, in fact the 2 games are near identical... with a few exceptions.

but then again they only take like 2-3 hours to play through, at least the first one does.

I dunno if it's a rental. I mean, it's short, but if you like it, you'll play it a lot since there's a lot of unlockable stuff (granted, it's not the most amazing unlockable stuff ever, but anyway...) It's got 6 different endings and it's got a good combat system and a versus mode. Plus, it's pretty fun levelling up your weapons just so you can tear through people. There's also a ton of different ways of getting through the game so honestly, I'd say it's worth buying especially at $20. It's better than the sequel.

That's a good deal because I was looking at getting it, since I have a lot of interest in Way of the Samurai 2. I know my EB still has it new, but I don't know if they changed the price to $19.99.
