I just came home from the Target in Canton MI, and they had 1 160Gb PS3 and 3 80Gb versions. Anyone else seen these for sale yet?

Yeah, the Best Buy in Green Bay has been selling them for around a week.

i thought about trading in my 80gb towards a 160 gb, but i think i'm just gonna get an external harddrive instead. a 500 gb external is less than $100.

Just upgraded my 40Gb to 250Gb today. The entire process took about 1-1.5 hours.

ALL Best Buy's should have them out. They got a time exclusive on them (they dont have to hold them for a specific date. They can put them out on the floor as soon as they get them in). Tech. they should be the only company that has them out.

Agreed. I've seen them everywhere in LA already.

And this is not a deal. :p

Saw them at Fred Meyers a few days ago. IMO still costs too much. I had a MGS4 80gb PS3 for a couple of weeks and ended up returning it (not worth the $$$ plus MGS4 was the only game that I wanted to play). Not too bad if you really want a Blu ray player though. PS3 needs to drop to ~$250 to be more competitive with 360/Wii.

The HDD has nothing to do with the backwards compatibility. If you have a 60/20GB or a 80GB from the motorstorm or MGS4 bundle, you can upgrade the HDD however you want. The 40GB, core 80GB, and this new 160GB will only play PS1 games. It's the system itself, not the HDD space.

At that price it would out sell the Will and Xbox combined.

It took you 0.5 - 1 hour too long.

I think that there's a good chance it would potentially outsell 360 at that price (at least for a few months), but the Wii is a sales juggernaut for some reason. I own a Wii and I cannot figure out why it is selling so well considering how few good games there are. Sure it appeals to the casual audience more, but even then, most games are shovelware.

Whether it would outsell anything at that price point is moot; the amount of money they'd lose selling PS3s for $250 would cause them to take a tremendous financial hit, and I'd prefer not to pay $79.99 for games.
