If you are actually speaking to your friends... no text balloons. Plus then it's your friends talking instead of text coming out of the head of their character. Just seems like it would make for a lesser experience, not a better one. Mind you, I don't have the game yet, nor the mic, and I can see the mic being good in other types of games, so it would be good to have the mic if it gets used in other games, though that's a big IF.

I'm in for AC at this price, but not for xmas. I've got enough gifts for xmas, but my oldest son has a birthday coming up in March and I know he's going to want AC, so this is a great deal to take advantage of.

I wholeheartedly agree. I liked PSO on DC better than the 360 version for that very reason. Typing just has more charm to it than actually speaking for some reason. Plus it guarantees that nothing will ruin the laid back experience that is AC.

I bought the Wiispeak bundle a week ago, and although I have downloaded the channel, I haven't even taken the mic out of the plastic yet. No need.

I had originally thought that when I purchased AC, intending to use it with a wireless keyboard. The problem with the text balloons is that they are limited to a short line, so in order to complete most any sentence, you'll have to type additional text balloons. There can only be one text balloon per person shown at a time, so short sentences/slow typing/quick reading is the key.

I picked up Wii Speak after the fact and really do enjoy it - I don't think it takes away any charm from the game (well, except for when I overheard some ladies husband yelling in the background...that definitely wasn't charming, AC or not). Granted, there are times where I prefer to not speak (such as last week when I had a horrendous head cold), at which times the keyboard is preferable. Essentially, I didn't think I would like Wii Speak as much as I do - it isn't necessary, but it's definitely a nice addition.

I guess that sort of cements me in for keeping the 360 (without a Jasper) I bought on BF with the $60 GC (I also bought Dead Rising for $10 on BF). I was sort of thinking of getting the 40GB PS3 for $300 instead though... hoping maybe they would redeem themselves and create a software BC patch (but that is obviously a pipe dream).

I was thinking of doing a cheap upgrade on my PC instead until I found out I had to get a new PSU, a better cooling system, and it uses some crazy 200 pin RAM. Now I have 2 PS3s to get rid of (a sealed 60GB and a MGS4 80GB) :(

Honestly, unless you want a BR player and have a PSP to unlock some nifty features, I don't really recommend it. Although, I like the exclusives better than the Wii ones.

I would wait for it to get cheaper. I'm assuming Sony will be next company to announce a price cut.

I agree with Opportunity that the PS3 mostly serves as a great Blu-Ray player if you already have a 360. The 360 has way more exclusives and downloadable games and multi-platform games are still usually superior on 360. If you're not into high-definition movies, I would recommend waiting for a PS3 price drop... Which never seems to happen.

It is worth it, Blu Rays look amazing, Uncharted is arguably the best looking game out on consoles along with Gears 2, Motorstorm 2 and Resistance 2 are great games, and there are plenty of DLC games too like Wipeout HD and Warhawk (the gem of this generation so far IMO).

However if your backlog is too big then you should wait a bit, there's rumored to be a price cut around March, though we don't know how true that is.

Actually, Amazon tends to offer more deals on 360 games than they do on PS3 games. Maybe you haven't noticed, since you've been a member of CAG since only Dec. 2008 (not meant as a slight against you). It is what it is, although you might want to consider getting a 360. :D

No one uses the headset at all. That was my experience during July & August this past summer.

I would hear maybe 1 person breathing heavily into their mic every few matches but that was it. Pretty much every single PSN-enabled game is like this, which is why I prefer XBL. Any big online game is bound to have a quick-mute option (aside from the slow 360 guide muting options) so any arguements about "WAHHA KIDS WAHHH RACISTS WAHH CRYING WAAHH!!" are void.

The game seems to be popular, so I don't think you'd have a problem finding a game. Unfortunately, I haven't gone online in Warhawk in a while, but the GF boards seem to be well populated by players.

Hell, it's a good game and only $10.

Plus, expansion packs are released every so often for Warhawk.
