Read this editorial about the game. Dave Halverson over at Play magazine (which I like) thought it really got beat up by reviewers but still a game enjoyable for what it is ! Much more than 'just' a hack in slash and nice looking graphics to me at least. And for $13 ?!?! How can you go wrong ?

I watched a video on the developers voice actors and nostalgic sound effects from the original and thought they did a great job fwiw..

It even trades in at Gamestop for base value of $20 if you bite on this special and don't like it ! :applause:

I liked RR7 a lot as a single player game, but I like the series in general.

The 2-player mode is broken and almost unplayable, and you can't use any of the nifty machine connectors in multiplayer :-(

I didn't have any fun with any of the online modes.

I wouldn't say it's mediocre, but RR6 was a better game. Single player RR7 has slightly better graphics, but crappy looking nitrous burst. The nitrous looks like something out of a 3DO or Sega Saturn game.

There is some sort of offline split screen that plays like the normal game and might be able to get to a larger number via a lan game, but I don't remember if its 2 or 4 player (I think it's 4 player).

Yeah I can tell just from reading that editorial about Golden Axe that this guy is full of shit. The entire thing basically amounts to "everyone else that reviewed this game is dumb, if they had played it more they would know its awesome!!!1" yet with very little substance to back such a statement up.

No, you're SOL. Officially, Amazon's price protection policy for non-preordered items (preorders have other limitations that I'm not going to type) ended on Sept. 1, 2008. The only legit way to get cash back is to return the unopened item, and reorder the title at the discounted price. Five dollars is not enough difference to justify returning the title. You will spend more money and time to call Amazon, return your game (if it's even still sealed) and reorder another.

You can call and bitch, but the success rate is low and depends on the CSR you get.

In any event, you can only do split-screen online in unranked games and if the server settings allow it. Its not allowed in ranked matches because of cheating potential obviously.

If you're on the fence about Warhawk and liked Crimson Skies (either version) then go ahead and spend the ten bucks. I wouldn't say it's Crimson Skies 2.0, but you'll get the same feeling from the dogfighting.

As to the expansions - you can get them for a little cheaper through a bundle, and they do add some fun maps & vehicles. I dig the transport gunship muchly for area control maps.

No, there isn't any "Gotchas". As soon as you sign up you can change your prime membership to "Do not renew" and it will cancel itself on the last day of your trial. Even if you don't do that, and let the trial expire Amazon will refund your prime membership if you haven't used it since you got charged. Amazon rocks with stuff like that.

Well, the PS3 is still quite a good player and a bit above the ones you see going cheap. Plus, it's still a factor you'd consider when buying a PS3. It doesn't just disappear, because there are other Blu-ray options. If you want to watch Blu-ray movies and play certain games, you'd obviously get a PS3 and kill two birds with one stone.

Yea it's a good thing to own both consoles PS3 has some really good games: Uncharted, Metal Gear, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, LBP and yea some more. As far as I know, Component is gimped. Your assumption is right, but I can remember exactly. Component can definitely not do 1080p, and might even be 720p at the top end. It's been a while since I tried to remember this, since HDMI basically solves that problem.

No, Component can do 1080p, but it is dependent on the device supporting the output, and the TV supporting the input.

Standard A/V cables, not HD component. You can get these, or grab a cheap HDMI cable from Monoprice. Luckily my dad had kept one from some employee that gave him a bunch of cables for a presentation, so on one of my trips through, I snagged it.

I think I'd have to bite if they did the same thing with Chrono Trigger that they did with Dragon Quest IV: a new copy for $20. I'd have to bite at that price.

Other than that, think I picked up most other stuff I wanted for it, but they've got to devote at least one night to the DS; the audience is just too massive not to. Plus they can't keep caving to the selective (and cheap) gamers as I'm sure they can move a ton of DS stuff since it's got enormous casual appeal while also having games that are so much cheaper than console games. I know if my son/daughter/pet monkey/relative had their wish list, I'd go for some of the cheaper stuff first.

I played the demo. It was fun, but it was really hard to move around the map because you're tied to the unit you have selected. Trying to get your troops to a specific place is hell and the AI sucks. It might be fun to play with a friend though or over Live/PSN. It's more than just talking to your troops though, it's trying to talk them into the right place. :D

I had the PS3 version, and I must say that is it BORING. The gimmick is the use of voice for executing commands in a quick fashion, but it ends right there.

The gameplay isn't all that exciting, to be quite honest. RTS for consoles aren't meant to be, except for the awesome C&C games for the 360.
