It's been in the main Amazon thread for a few days :)

I got mine at Sears for that price a while back. I think they're clearing them out because there's really no use for them anymore with new PS3's.

What? Didn't see it posted anywhere? Well thank goodness we have you and your powerful observational skills OP!

What's that? It's been in the Amazon Black Friday thread posted and stickied by Cheapy D at the very top of this forum? But, that can't be! The OP said he searched for it high and low! I don't believe you self doubt, I just can't.

Seriously, it's been there for like 2 days now.

Yeah, but I did a search of low price items for fillers, and came up with this, so it deserves it own mention, especially for those who don't quite have $25 for Super Saver.
Also, how much does GS take for these?

Sorry it was meant as sarcasm! :D

I wasn't trying to be mean to you. It's just that most of the deals in the current "Deals" forum are actually posted in the Amazon Black Friday thread. If you see a deal on Amazon, then chances are it's already been posted. Again, I apologize if I offended you in any way. That wasn't my intention! ;)

D'oh! I forgot that the new PS3s aren't backwards compatible. I don't own one yet, but I tacked one of these onto my order in preparation for a PS3 sometime next year. Oh well, it's only $3. Maybe by the time I buy one, they'll reintroduce a BC model with a higher price point or something.

argh, bought this for 6.95 on Sat from them. They would not adjust the price for me.

In a way you can. Copy your PS2 saves to your PS3 and then if you have a mem stick reader you can copy your PS2 saves to your mem stick, and then copy them to your computer.

PS2 card -> reader -> PS3 -> USB card reader -> mem stick (SD, pro duo, etc.) -> computer

The mem cards are showing 24.96 for me.

-Those of us who can "only" check this site once or twice a day need threads like this. We can not check hundreds of posts in 6 store threads every day. If that's all this site was, it would be worthless to most people.

-Remember, new Playstation 3s still run Playstation 1 games.

Well looks like I got burned by Amazon next day price drop ($14.95) :cold:

I don't know why they do that. :dunce:

These were Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. They are done now.

And the PS2 memory card 2-pack for $6.95 was the greatest filler of all time. I bought more of them than was probably necessary. :)

Some quick questions.

1. This cord basically allows you to transfer saves back and forth between you PS3 and a memory card?

2. Does it work with a PS1 memory card as well?

Thanks.

Yes and yes. I think originally you couldn't transfer saves off the PS3 to a card, but that was long since fixed in a software update. And it does work with both PS2 and PS1 memory cards.

Among other things, it's great if you have a PS3 in one room, and a PS2 hooked up to a different TV, that sort of thing.

That is my setup, and I have Dragon Quest VII and VIII to complete, among a thousand other PS2 games on m backlog.

Now I just need to wait for this to drop in price a bit.

You sound as bad as me :D I think I at least got through all my last gen games though, but I have STACKS of games to play. It's crazy. I'm not sure I'll finish the 2008 games next year. I'm not sure I'll finish the 2007 games next year!

Same, I still have stuff from 2007 and earlier unopened (oldest is Shenmue for DC I got at Sears in 2001 or 2002 for $1.97 that I still need to play). You have to buy when the price is good but the backlog keeps on getting bigger.

Wolfpup
12-05-2008, 06:50 PM
Oh no, Shenmue?!? :D Well, I enjoyed that quite a bit (although not the sequel so much). Hopefully you'll have fun with it. I'm wondering how it looks by today's standards, because I remember it just defining "next generation" for me, so it would be weird if it looks old now.

Some quick questions.

2. Does it work with a PS1 memory card as well?

According to one amazon review this only works for Sony brand PS1 memory cards. I bought one for 3 bucks to see if it's just BS (well it was only 3 bucks, it's worth an experiment). Actually I want to find out if I can transfer PS1 saves (from a non-Sony brand card) to my PS2 card, then transfer that to my PS3 to see if that works. If not I can always buy a new/used Sony PS1 card and transfer my saves to that first, then to the PS3 by the reader.

I have a 3rd party PS1 memory card, and I transferred my saves over to the PS3, but the games wouldn't recognize the saves, even though the virtual memory card was set to slot 1. So now I gotta find a Sony brand memory card and do some transferring.

I bought one of these when it was on sale, i originally bought the Nyko one when i bought my 60gb and the Sony wouldn't write back to the PS2 card, the last time i tried to use it it gave me an error writing back to it even though i could still take off clean data. O well for $2.95 i bought the OEM one and for anotehr $6.95 i bought myself 3 more memory cards. SHould be enough to get me through my 40-50+ PS2 RPG Backlog. :D
