This week's deal (starting Tuesday) is the Xbox Original Halo: Combat Evolved for 600 MS Points (normally 1200).

You're thinking of the Mythic Map Pack that releases next Winter if I remember correctly. However, I believe that Bungie said that this one will not be going free like the Heroic Map Pack when the Mythic Map Pack releases.

Well the collector's edition of Halo Wars (which is release in February) comes with a code for the map pack so it'll probably come out around then.

You only get 3 of the 6 maps (Assembly, Orbital, and Sandbox) with the Halo Wars Limited Collector's Edition. The full Mythic Map Pack won't be out until Winter of 09. It's also known that Halo 3: ODST will include the Mythic Map Pack if I remember correctly, but I haven't heard any info from Bungie on whether it's the full pack or the other three maps.

It's a common misconception since they didn't explain it well enough when it was first announced.

It's not the actual cost that is really the issue. They do have a lot of nerve asking for 3 bucks a month for a service THEY provide for free on the PC platform and others provide for free on similar platforms.

Do I still pay it? Yes, because I enjoy playing with people I know that only have 360's. Over the lifetime of which you own a 360, which probably will be 4-6 years, that is 200-300 dollars extra you are paying.

They do have the best right now, and if they are going to continue to charge people for the right to play online, it better continue to be, far and away, the best out there.

I wouldn't be surprised if the deal of the week showed a slight increase in the sales for that week.

Not only that, but MS Points in general is pretty easy money as the costs of packaging and advertising are pretty much non-existent (Aside from an occasional graphic in the dashboard). Review sites and word of mouth do most of the advertising for DLC. I mean, have you ever seen Rock Band DLC advertised? I'm sure there are loads of people out there that have every track downloaded to the tune of about $250-$300 at this point. Giving people a slight discount on DLC that seems to not be getting much attention is an easy way to get people who may have been on the fence to buy an entire 1600 points card just for 400 points to get the map pack.

From a user's standpoint, I love DLC because it's pretty easy and keeps the games fresh. From the company's standpoint, DLC is a cash cow. Win-win as long as prices are fairly decent AFAIC.

But I just got my 360 like a week or two ago and won't be getting RB2 until Christmas (it was a compromise - I used the 20% off sale at Dell to buy it for myself, my wife said that is my present this year so she doesn't kill me). This was something that I was debating buying the album or picking and choosing tracks from - this sale decided it for me, and I'll be picking it up this week instead of in 2.5 weeks.

But going forward I'm going to buy when the tracks are released, new releases are the reason I got RB2 instead of GHWT.

Wish I would have had some patients to save the extra 5 bucks, but I used my free gift card from GOW2 from CC, so I guess I really did not pay for it anyways. Excellent deal and must buy if you a nineties grunge/rock lover.

Bomberman Live is a buggy POS and the maps are some of the most boring in the series (you would think they can cull better maps considering there are like 40 bomberman games to choose from).

Bomberman Live is a buggy POS and the maps are some of the most boring in the series (you would think they can cull better maps considering there are like 40 bomberman games to choose from).

I agree with your first point - the maps flat-out suck. However, playing online is extremely fun, especially if everyone has mics. I think the game is a good value as long as you have other online or local friends to play with.

Very good game I got it at release and got alot of play out of it. Tried it online a few weeks ago and there was not a ton of people online as expected but I had no problems finding games with multiple opponents. Hopefully people dive in at this price and i'll get back to some online one of these days.

Regardless of the value, MS will probably sell more downloads of Halo this week than the whole time it's been on Live. $15 for games you can find used for much cheaper and which MS didn't add anything to before throwing them on Live is lame. This might be the only time I even consider buying one.

You have to learn to control the camera independently of your movement at some point, dude. Sooo many modern games use that general control scheme. If anything, Halo 3 is easier than part 1. But 1 remains a classic.

All the Halo games are extremely similar to each other, so if you didn't like Halo 3, there's a high chance you won't like Halo.

I used to own the game, but haven't found a real reason to rebuy the game yet, especially since I perfer the original release over a Platinum Hits copy. Still waiting for Halo 2 to hit Xbox Originals tho, but this will tide me over.

I have 150 points in my account already, so when I get home from work in a couple of hours, I will just add the 500 points for $6.25 and enjoy Halo 1 again.
