Check this guy out--
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2992371976&category=47 103
What's going on here? Then look at his other auctions- he's got three other ads up for it, all of them with a quantity of 10 starting out. Not to mention ads for other first-run games for $10 or $15. And he says he's not a dealer.
Is this for real?
His feedback is good....
Comments and speculation, anyone?

Either the games are burned or he's just going to take the money and run. The fact that he doesn't accept Paypal is a warning flag so if someone sends him money, they have no way to get it back.
His entire feedback is built up from selling Walmart Giftcards. What I suspect the seller did was take a loss selling some cheap giftcards to build himself some feedback so he would look legit and then start to scam people.

It's also strange that none of his auctions have pictures of the games, either. Just a link like the picture didn't "take".
Just thought of something else, too--it's funny that all of his feedback is from people that haven't actually RECEIVED those giftcards yet! Why would people leave feedback if they haven't gotten the item yet?? They can't all be phoney.

Yeah even more reason to be concerned. A serious seller would make sure their pictures are working. If they are too lazy/don't care enough to have working pictures it shows that they don't care about their auctions

Hmm, he's got 43 people that left him feedback-- so you're saying he buys 43 Walmart giftcards, and sells them for $.05 just to make himself look good? That's $215 he's spending--seems kinda extravagant. Of course, he DOES have alot of games listed, especially at 10 a pop. I suppose he might be able to clean up pretty good before the sh&t hits the fan...

OH, OK! He's not really sending ANYTHING out, then...
YoshiFan1

He has 139 auctions listed for games with each auction with 10 games avaiable. That's 1390 games he supposedly has for sale. Some are $10, some are $15 so let's say the average is $12.50. That means he could have over $17,000 in sales if all sold. Even if he only got $1,000 in sales, the $215 he spent on the giftcards probably was still worth it to him
And since everyone who pays will send him payment through the mail and it takes a few days for a game to be received once sent, it will takes days maybe even 2 - 3 weeks before people realize it's a scam. Plenty of time for him to take advantage of people

im looking into reporting him to ebay right now, false feedback is against their tos, hopefully they'll respect that, i doubt it tho
YoshiFan1
03-06-2004, 09:57 PM
Yeah, all his feedback says stuff like "Can't Wait to receive the card"
The worst part is that Ebay probably won't care because they will be making a lot of money from the listing and final values fees from this seller.
If he gets banned, and tries to come back, EBay won't care.
I have seen one seller selling burned games come back around 3 or 4 times and still is selling games on EBay.

wow, you can report people to ebay for over charging on shipping! im so gunna try that
jlarlee
03-06-2004, 10:01 PM
Is it just me or does the feedback look wrong like nobody would ever say something like that for example this one
-Why not give this seller a try?... good luck - thanks for a good deal
- Happy to help you build feedbacks - Good Luck
And a lot of them seem to be left before they get their "cards"
I dunno why the guy is scamming like that he could have easily downloaded the pictures from the net you figured if he would have made all that other effort

It has to be really excessive though. Like buy it now for 1 cent and then $30 shipping.
If a seller is charging $10 on a game, they aren't really going to stop that.

heres what i sent them
As a frequent user of ebay this seller worries me. All of his/her feedback was received as terms of his auctions, totally false. Now he/she has 139 auctions up, with 10 items in each auction ranging from $10.00 - $15.00. In most cases the savings on these items are $30.00-$40.00 so i really think you should look into this as it seem fairly shady to me and would hate to see so many people get ripped off, as im sure you would too. Thank you for your time, and i hope you look into this seller.

Hopefully they will look into it and ban him, I guess we'll have to see in a few days if he's a registered user and if his auctions are still up.

The guy isn't very bright not to have made the auction listings and the price more believable. Hell, he could've EASILY charged more like $25 or $30/game and appeared alot more credible at the same time he made a ton more money!

you gotta admit tho the wal mart card scam was pretty good assuming no one checks his feedback

I like how the auction says "Please use checkout to pay immediately after purchase."--if he only accepts cash or money orders what is there to checkout??
Someone buy a game from him and see if you get an address to send money to--the cops might want it.
YoshiFan1
03-06-2004, 10:15 PM
I would maybe do it but I'm not taking a chance on runing my feedback if he gives me a negative for a non paying bidder. I already have 1 unfair negative (buyer never paid and gave me a negative), I don't want anymore.

may not be a bad idea, with so many games up i doubt he'd hassle a npb, or even be able to keep track of them assuming people bite this scam

And the worst part is, even though the feedback was unfair, EBay won't remove it. It's so annoying. The buyer wins the auction, doesn't pay so they get reported so the seller gets their fees back and the buyer can get away with leaving a negative.
I think it should be a rule that if a non paying bidder report is filed against the buyer, the buyer then cannot leave feedback.

We should try going into a live chat with someone who works for ebay and giving them the links to his feedbacks and auctions and such.

I am really bored so I decided to go through all his auctions and see how many games he sold today. Since he started each acution with 10 copies, I just looked at home many copies were sold in each auction and added them up. He sold 163 games today! Over $2000 in sales. I didn't realize so many people were that gullible, then again this IS Ebay we are talking about.
If you're really bored you should talk with a live representative :P . I'd do it myself but I need to go to work now.

two things, people charge high shipping with a low price to cut down on final value fees. thats why ebay doesnt like it. Second, if you dont want to use a credit card, you need to use an email account that is not free. There are some that are free that ebay wont require one for. I cant think of any off hand, I have been up for 40hrs. hope this can help.

Man, he's raking people over the coals--out of his initial 30 "copies" of Champions of Norrath he's down to only 10 left! Other games have similar quantities left. I hope Ebay does something!

Is it possible that this guy found a website that was giving away free Wal-Mart gift cards, and sold links to the site and not the actual cards? That's the only explanation I can offer as to why his customers say stuff like "Can't wait for the card!" As others have already said, he probably built up some good feedback to make it easier for him to scam people now.

Definitely looking shady. 2 things that stand out are the 0.00 shipping and the picture of the game is down. Anyways, even if it asks you to checkout on a non-Paypal transaction that just verifies your address and that you are the winning bidder. However, if clicking on this particular checkout asks you for your credit card then definitely something is wrong there.

His giftcard auctions explicitly say that for payment the winners only have to leave positive feedback (no money is exchanging hands). That's why they all say that.

This is definitely bullshit. Just look at the feedback. 4 or 5 different people say he's an A+++ seller. What the hell is that? They haven't even got their cards yet.

Scam, but man it would have been nice if those prices were real.
"Excellent seller! Resolved issue with auction very satisfactorily." He probably payed the bidder to not tell anyone about not getting the card.

this is kinda funny as i saw his auctions up on ebay before i saw this thread. i emailed to ask about shipping (i was expecting him to rip people off with that) but we'll see if he even responds. must be too good to be true. this and his walmart crap has got scam written all over it.

It's good that EBay got rid of his auctions and kicked him off the site but I wonder how long it will be until the seller is back with a new username.
