Kinda hoping for that too. Since I missed out on Amazon's $20 L4D, I might be up for coughing up $25 for L4D from Gogamer.

The fact that Left 4 Dead is out of stock for PC surely doesn't mean anything.

Somehow I feel confident that I'll be able to buy something from the list on Friday that's advertised by GoGamer as a deal lasting through Monday - without then seeing them cut the price in half on Saturday. That might even make it worth tax and shipping.

my order seemed to have shipped on last friday, I think USPS is just backed up, but I think I remember GoGamer uses Media Mail so that could take a week.

I can't wait to see the list... I'm hoping for a ton of titles I'm looking for.

IMPORT

cripes someone asks that every time...

Games come from AU or UK and usually all in English or mulilang but english is good.

they usually work just fine, no different and only a problem on MMO games... though they don't sell many of those.

Hollow Man
12-05-2008, 11:31 AM
I swear we have to have a sticky somewhere on that. Or, even better, Gogamer should change the "I" to "Import". It's only a few more characters.

Of course people will still ask if the game will play properly on their PC/console, so...hrm.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the "I" stands for "Import", which means it's designed for PC's of all regions. I bought the "I" versions of a few games recently, and they work just fine. HOWEVER, I'm not sure how this works with the XBox 360? Worst case, you'll just get another RRoD... ...j/k ;-)

Also, here's a tip for PC gamers: if you're having trouble with your game executable (.exe) recognizing the disc in your drive (the International version of Space Siege did this to me), just head to GameCopyWorld.com and grab a version of your game's executable that bypasses the CD / DVD check. I bought Space Siege and wasn't able to get the game to launch until I did this.

Hollow Man
12-05-2008, 11:34 AM
If you're having trouble with your drive recognizing the game, then it's something else entirely, not because it's an import title. There's no region coding of discs for PC games.

+1

More than likely it's the DRM that failed on it or your drive is going bad, having a 3rd party software that does any support for CD Images or creates a copy of a drive for cloning or reading of cd images might be the reason.

I've never had a fault with the 5+ games that are (I) from GoGamer.

-HM

The FedSux shipping was only $1 more than the dirt cheap on my order. I almost wish I would have gone that route instead because it for sure would be here today--provided the idiots at FedSux don't mistakenly deliver the package to the local Wal-Mart like they did with my last order that was shipped through them (long story).

I've got plenty of stuff to keep me busy, so it isn't the biggest deal. But it is always amazing to me that 90% of the time when I choose the free shipping from Amazon I get stuff almost immediately, so it's hard to not compare (even though it isn't fair to do so).

I think it's just the normal thing, the PC one controls better. For $3....actually, now the PC version should be free to play too. Might be kind of funny running around blowing up 360 players, if there's anyone left playing it.

I still can't believe they turned Shadowrun of all games into a shooter...and a multiplayer only shooter! What an idiotic move. I remember being so excited by that, and back in like '04, '05 or whatever, thinking that was a real feather in Microsoft's cap for the 360...until they announced it was a deathmatch game.

I want to try Turning Point:FOL, but $22 seems a bit much.
PS3 version (used) is $12.99 shipped at Gamefly.

Conceptually Turning Point sounds like just the sort of game I would really enjoy but every review I have read has been horrible. I'm confident we'll see it in the bargain basement price point very soon.

Thanks but I'd need the 360 version, plus I can't get stuff from gamefly as my account was suspended ages ago.

I'll probably wait, I think it'll turn up dirt cheap one day, and if not I'm not that bothered.

Turning Point is crap. Avoid at all costs. Max resolution, I've read, is 1024×768.

That's a great price for GalCiv II Ultimate Edition, which you should (shortly) be able to register through Impulse (which is pretty cool of Stardock...you risk your Steam account if you try and register imported Valve games). But Stardock's such a great company that I'd rather buy direct, even if it costs more.

Edit: Unreal Anthology for $7.90 is a steal. Plus you get access to all the great mods and maps for UT2k4.

Is shadowrun better on the 360 or PC? About $3 for the PC version seems awfully tempting.:-k

It's more of a multiplayer game... may have better luck on the 360, but that isn't stopping me from buying the PC version.

Guild Wars: Factions Platinum isn't bad at ~$15 if you don't already have Prophecies and Factions. If you don't play Guild Wars and are interested, that's an excellent entry price point. No monthly fee.

If you're interested, check out the demo. I honestly can't remember if I liked it or not...so it must not be that bad or good, I guess.

I bought Turning Point on PC for $7.50 when it was on the clearance shelf at Target. It's completely linear, buggy (mostly funny physics/collision detection), and not terribly much fun. I sold it back to Half Price Books for $5 and never spoke a word of it again until right now. A price greater than $7.50 for any version is a ripoff.

To the poster who mentioned resolutions, it does support widescreen properly, as I played it at 1680x1050. There are few other graphic tweaks, if you want anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering, you have to use the driver control panel of your video card.

Based on the list for this sale, I might pick up 007:QoS for $29. I enjoyed that demo once I got the hang of the controls. On the other hand, I might wait for a console version price drop and pick it up for PS3 with the Edge card/Gamestop coupon discount.

I'd be all over that one if I didn't have it on Steam. That price is worth it for Unreal Gold alone. There are still people releasing community patches for it, including support for widescreen, OpenGL, and the high-resolution compressed textures that came on the "bonus CD" of Unreal Tournament. I've played UG this way, and it looks phenomenal.

Funny the timing on this. An OXM article listed about 10 games that are a few months old and tested to see how "dead" they were online. The only 2 that made the cut were Shadowrun and Frontlines. Not even GTA IV is alive and kicking.

There is a post elsewhere in the Amazon thread on Shadowrun (360) that at this point the people playing are probably pretty good, so a lot of us newbies need to play to even it out a little.

You can get it, get free Live Gold play, and enter Microsoft's GfW contest (timed because of GTA IV and the new GfW client I guess).

I think it's just the normal thing, the PC one controls better. For $3....actually, now the PC version should be free to play too. Might be kind of funny running around blowing up 360 players, if there's anyone left playing it.

Zimmy
12-05-2008, 04:54 PM
GTA IV is one of my favorite MP games (before L4D came around) and it is like a ghost town now.
Would it have killed Rockstar to release a couple of more Co-Op missions as free DLC during their year long "development" on Microsoft's ransom DLC?
They make excellent games but you need to keep your game breathing after you release it, not just leave it for dead and go on vacation.

Galactic Civilizations II: Ultimate Edition for $25.90 is a great deal...this version includes both the Dark Avatar and Twilight of Arno expansion packs. Amazon is listing the Gold edition (with just the Dark Avatar expansion) for $39.99, and all 3 are sold as a bundle on the game's offical website for $59.95 (download only, boxed copies would run about $75.)

Twilight of Arno recently got a 5 out of 5 review on G4's X-Play: http://www.g4tv.com/xplay/reviews/1776/Galactic_Civilizations_2_Twilight_of_Arnor.html

I highly recommend this package to any fans of PC turn-based strategy games.

The community reps have said they're "working on it" and that you'll be able to register the Ultimate Edition and Endless Universe Edition over Impulse in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the Ultimate Edition should still be completely playable.

It's pretty different. I mean I think it's popular, but I'm not sure it's exactly what I would consider a real MMO. (Actually I'm not sure I'd consider a lot of content in MMOs real MMOs...) It doesn't have a monthly fee, and I think basically it's MMOy when you're in a city, but when you leave, it's always an instance...

But I've only played a demo, and I'm not real familiar with these things in general. I had fun with the WoW demo, and not really with Guild Wars...but it is very popular, and free, so...

A few decent prices on there. Was mildly interested in Paraworld when it was released, and for $1 I can't pass it up.

Shadowrun is Vista-only, lacks content, and has some questionable gameplay mechanics, but it's still mildly enjoyable at times and it comes with a 1-month Gold subscription card. Honestly it's worth it just for the Gold subscription card, consider getting the game along with it as a bonus. At least if the price is updated to what it's supposed to be.

Guild Wars isn't as comparable to WoW since the "MMO" aspect of it is pretty minimal. It's more like Phantasy Star Online or Diablo in terms of how it's played with other people. But it's still relatively enjoyable to run through the lengthy campaign, even without the Factions/Nightfall/EotN content, but for $15 it's worth checking out since Factions is included with it.

It's probably worth it if you've still got the urge to play DoW. I've heard it's not as good as the other expansions (Dark eldar and sisters of battle kind of scraping the barrel for 40k goodness) and the campaign is basically exactly like Dark Crusade's, for good or ill. I played the hell out of DoW for a good few years including the first two expansions, and by the time Soulstorm came by I was just burnt out.

As for how many people still actively play it online, no idea. I'd suggest poking around the Relicnews forums to see what the community's up to before pulling the trigger. http://forums.relicnews.com/index.php?

Hey Guys,

I posted this on another website, but I'll put it here as well. Just some info that may help explain why things are the way they are with us.

I'm just here to straighten out any concerns and squash any incorrect rumors. I do it at a lot of websites. I already made my comments about this sale. I do encourage anyone who has issues with our prices this time around to search on Froogle or Amazon and compare our specials and daily prices and you'll see we are extremely competitive. There will always be someone lower, but there comes a time when you have to decide which retailer you trust and who deserves your money. We strive everyday to be that game retailer for you.

When we post a sale it is not an instant thing. There are lots of moving parts. Normally we do them in the middle of the night to avoid the questions and comments you see above, but for special sales like these we have to roll it out during normal hours. It always generates concern as it rolls out in pieces. Dual Shock Controller for $41.95 anyone?

The primary reason you see more PC games in our sales is that we have always been a PC-centric game retailer. But with the rise and success of next-gen consoles we have gotten more heavily into console games. And that trend will continue and you will see more and more deals on console stuff with time. We have over 6500+ gaming products in our catalog and 4000+ are console games and acessories. Compare our everyday console prices to our main, legitimate competition and you'll see they are pretty darn good.

GoGamer has been around since 2001 and our company has been here for many years before that. We're not some guy in a garage and we're not a multi-billion dollar public company. But what we are works great and gamers get to benefit.

Sales come and go and like I said before, sometime in the near future we'll have a deal you can't pass up.

Most of our sales have about a dozen items. This one has over 40 and BF had over 70. The next one? Who knows, but there will be something for someone.

By the way Prince of Persia and Shaun White Snowboarding are brand new games and we already have it on sale and Turismo Carretera isn't even out yet or announced publicly, but we already have a special on it. Who else can give you that? So stop your whimpering. LOL. I kid...I kid.

And who sells anything for a dollar or a penny these days??

Jason

Great post, the same thing happens where I work, our prices are also competitive (independent retail B&M store) and people always complain because some store is a few cents less. $1 for Riddick is an amazing deal.

I ordered both XBox games for $5.29 total with shipping, that is right up there with some of the best deals online in the past week.

On another note Vegan, you need to join the Vegetarian CAGs group. I sent you an invite and PM about it ages ago but you never responded. I guess you don't check your User CP? The group is located here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/group.php?groupid=44

You know, I have Paraworld and really enjoy it - and at this price I'd almost be tempted to buy a few copies so I could play multiplayer with friends - dinosaur RTS is vastly underrated. I am tempted to get the Unreal Anthology - if only some ghostly adventure games were on sale too!

Ouch, deals aren't too great.

And who sells anything for a dollar or a penny these days??

Definitely some lack of perspective on CAG in GoGamer threads. I know not everybody is into PC gaming, but I've bought from GoGamer and their previous iteration for probably 10 years, and overall the deals are great.

Anyway, I sent CS a message about this, but what is up with Dungeon Siege supposedly being $7.90 on this thread and on the "white monday" page but going $10.90 when you go to put it in your cart?

I think in this case it isn't a matter of it not flowing through the system yet and is a mistake, since I got the Madness mail e-mail hours ago. I asked for a price adjustment, hopefully it is justified.

No, never will be. Something to do with it being too much work to emulate the engine. As i said they basically remade the entire game and it will be released in Spring of 09 for the 360/PS3/PC so i'd highly suggest getting that when it comes out. Its a really great game.

so it's a remake and not a sequel?

From what i heard its going to be the origonal game completely overhauled in the new graphics engine with some new twists, then a continuation from where Butcher Bay left off. Sounds like it will be 2 games in 1 to me. Dev describes it here in this vid released yesterday.

they have completely removed prince of persia from their site, it was there earlier out of stock and $54.95. seems kind of strange to remove it from the site just because its OOS...

This has been rectified. Prince of Persia 360 is there at the sale price. Long story on that one.

so is Dungeon Siege II $7.90 or $10.90? I can't seem to figure it out.

UPDATE: well, I was able to order it for $7.90, so I guess that's the correct price.

Ordered the 2 Xbox games for $5.29 shipped.

It's a nice surprise to see original Xbox games on sale once in a while again, hope to see more. :)

Grabbed the Saitek keyboard. One of my cats spilled water on my keyboard a few weeks back, and I got a replacement. Didn't find out until it was too late that the one I got changed the order of the home/end/delete section of 6 keys; made them 2x3 instead of 3x2 and got rid of insert in favor of making delete two spaces wide. I've tried to get used to it, but it's just not happening.

Glad I could find a decent keyboard fairly cheap. Got to have those volume controls.

Any opinions on "The Movies" for PC? I don't even know if my PC can run it (probably could), but I want to know if it's worth the time as well.

I played The Movies and I liked it for what it was - I was a little dissapointed at first as I expected much more control in the actual "film making" area - whereas all you get is choose A or B when actually making the movie - but it does make for some funny moments. As a mesh between like a tycoon and sim game - with a bigger emphasis on the management and tycoon aspect - it's a pretty decent game. I picked it up at Target on clearance a while back for 7.50 and am happy. I don't have the best comp and it runs on here fine.

I see the original on sale all the time, but the expansion is hard to find. Hopefully GoGamer could get a batch of the Stunts expansion to sell cheap soon.

Ok, but not only did I not get a response here from my question about those of us who bought it at 10.99, but my question sent to Gogamer support on Saturday early AM right after I purchased also has been ignored (even though I got the canned response that acknowledges that I should get a response within 24-48 hours).

Did anybody else try to get their $3 back?

And to top it all off I accidentally bought another copy of Black Site when I had bought it 4-5 months ago from you guys. Hope the local multiplayer is worth it ;)

I just noticed Gogamer is advertising a 'red friday' sale for tomorrow. Jason, any chance you can give us a preview of whats going to be on sale? I think the white friday sale items showed up in these forums before it actually went live.
