Hey, my friend recently got a new tv but doesn't want to get cable or satallite just yet. Do any of you know of any good TV antennas resonably priced? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You realize what's happening in February...right?

yes, i know what's happening in february. the tv has a digital tuner built into it & there are antennas that say they are specifically designed for digital broadcasts. i'm just trying to find out which ones are good & which ones aren't.

Bah, I hate those "amplified" antennae. I have to put in another plug? It's already cramped what with the other things.

Got some spare time and feel like doing a little handy work?

You'll probably end up getting better reception if you build your own, as opposed to the store bought antenna. It's big and ugly, but if you don't care, it's a option to seriously consider.

I have never used nor built one. But I've read that homemade built ones can be just as good as store bought ones for a cheap price.

You will probably find more help on antennas from the AVSforum.

AVSforum HDTV technical information (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=25)

If you take some time and browse (Esp. the stickies), you'll see information on the basics of Over-the-Air signals, various antennas, and a few threads on building your own antenna.

The antennaweb.org site posted above is a good site to get basic information and also to see details about which stations are in your in area, such as distance, UHF or VHF, etc. This can help you determine what kind of antenna you might want to purchase or build.
