I'm looking for a cheap digital camera under $100. My only catch is I want a battery pack as opposed to AA batteries. I looked on Amazon and didn't see too much. Do guys know of any other deals? Thanks

Look into the Kodak cameras. They're good, usually about $100, and they can take either 2 AA's or a Lithium CRV3 pack (which can be either a 1-use or rechargeable version)

So Kodaks have a good rep?

I have a 3-4 year old camera from Kodak, it's good if you don't want to take pictures of anything special, which I guess you don't for sub-$100. I have dropped it on titles, it gets banged up, yet it's still going.

They take AAs, but for like $25 you can get a recharge battery for it.

No no no. Do not go with a Kodak digital camera. The only good thing they make is film. Their digital cameras are cheaply made garbage. Best left for Christmas gifts for elementary school age children. Thats why you see them advertised so cheaply. If you want a good digital camera with a rechargeable lithium ion pack, without dropping some serious cash on a professional grade camera, go with a Canon Power Shot Elph. Yeah you may pay a little more but the quality is worth it. I've got two and they are flawless and take amazing pics. Don't pay less for piss when you can get champagne for a little more money.

A Kodak is fine, like I said I dropped mine from 4 feet up unto a tile floor and it still works fine. If he wants a better camera then he wouldn't want a cheap one.

And I looked up the price of the "a little bit more" is $230 for 7.1MP and a 3x zoom. You can get a Kodak that has the same specs, and built well for a third of that price.

Bump. I'm looking for a gift for my girlfriend, and I was also looking for a nice camera cheap. Doesn't have to be the latest model or anything, she wouldn't know the difference. Just something compact, and it doesn't matter what batteries it takes. Something reliable as well, I don't want it to break after the first week = / Many thanks in advance fellow CAGers

I say a pretty decent Kodak camera in either Target or Best Buy's ad this morning for like $89.xx. I was a red Kodak camera. My Mom has one very very similar and it's an awesome camera from the price. I'm a fan of Canon myself and that Kodak surprised me on how good it is.

Check that Kodak out.

PC Mags "How to buy a cheap digital camera" article:

I'm considering buying the Fuji Finepix J10. I believe BB has it on sale this week for $90.
