WOW, franchise stores are messed up!! the one around here sells most 360/PS3 games at $44(even the 3 year old ones), and sells hard to find PS2 stuff for $6.99. They probably wont even sell pre-owned Fallout 3's for a year or two.

One of my local stores received a shipment of over 40+ games after I bought ~80 games from them during the perfect storm.

Not really, I posted a few pages back that it gets $15 at BBV. Unless the used price drops, and even then only with a B2G1 or something, would it be a 1:1 or better flip if that's what you're implying.

But then again, on that note, I traded my copy in today since I was out of BBV credit, and didn't want to spend much cash. I figure that if it's already dropping near $20-30, it will be around $10-15 used soon enough. Really have enough cheap GS credit to grab it whenever, but I didn't have the time to play it now as is...

Do you know if they'll actually expire on 6/30/09, when they say they will? I know sometimes the expiration dates aren't really true, like on the Xbox Live Vision Gold Packs. I don't currently have a 360, and I'd hate to see them go to waste if I don't get a 360 or give them away before the summer.

Yeah, they are doing a test run here. For every $10 you trade in, you get a stamp. Once all 10 stamps are filled, you can redeem it along with another trade. However, it cant be used with any other promos, just Edge card.

At least at GS you can open the box on the shelf to make sure it has a manual and they have a great return policy if the game doesn't work when you get it home. Many times rental places will shrink wrap the games or videos so you don't know what you are getting until you get home. Sometimes you can get good deals, but you take your chances.

Oh no? I just got back from BB and they have security seals on the boxes so you can't open them up and look inside before you buy. I bought a bunch of games, though. They aren't top tier titles or very recent, but for the price I'll get my moneys worth. Damn, between Gamestop with their 3 day B2G1, FYE with their 75% off and now Blockbuster with B1G1, I must have bought over 100 games in the last 2 weeks and only paid like $150 for all of them. (And none of them was 99c games, either).

I'd still check. I expected that to be the case, as well, and ended up bringing home 32 games all of which were $4.99 except for one which rang up $2.99 (tagged $4.99) and another that was $6.99. I am lucky so far in that only 1 hasn't had a manual, but I have still have quite a few left to open so I expect a few more to not have one.

Edit: Well I ended up with a 50/50 split of games with manuals and without. A few of the cases were a little damaged, too, but there's plenty of 99c games down at GS that I can use for better cases and maybe even a few of the missing manuals.

Well, I think it depends on the store/district. I have never seen resealed used games, and only occasionally while travelling have I seen them keep games in locked cases. EVERY store around me keeps the open cases on the floor and the games in a drawer or binder by the register. Nearly every store also keeps the manuals in the game cases so you can pick which one has the best condition insert/manual (useful when picking out copies of GTA IV) before even asking for the disc. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I went to one store the other day where I thought they had tossed all the manuals but when they retrieved a 360 GTA IV for me they had the manual (and Xbox Live card) stored with the disc. Not coincidentally, this was the only place during this entire sale I was able to get an Xbox Live card :lol:.

We don't have final confirmation of anything. All the stores around me have a little "deals" sheet posted and under the B1G1 it says "subject to termination at any time" (or something like that). It seems that the 12th is the most likely date, but nothing is official.

What I want to know is if we have confirmation of the trade 3 deal at GS. I have held off buying several 360 games because I didn't want to be stuck with them in case that falls through. Like others, though, I have bought some FEAR Files, and of course I have some GTA IV ;).

Well, that definitely means I'm taking my last couple of Wii games in tomorrow for the $5 per deal. I was going to save them to pair (trio?) up with some GTA's to qualify for the trade 3 deal... Meh... That was going to be a lot of trouble anyway (going to different GS's and only trading 3 at a time) and the $5 less makes it even less appealing. I'll still do it anyway since I have so many GTA and several other 360 games (Cars Mater, VF 5, FEAR Files, Spiderwick), but this will temper my trips somewhat which is nice because I need to take a break from all this and get some real work done this week.

Because they had to manually override it and there was another one priced at 54.99. Soo I'd have to say it was a pricing error because the non-goty version is 19.99 but then again who knows.

While $15 turning to $10 extra trade-in credit at GS is bad news, at least it's still better than the current 40% deal on games that are $11 or less. . . I have more than twenty games to bring in, and would have been really mad if the whole deal was a complete sham!

Most of the games that I'll be bringing in to GS next week were obtained from a BBV store that I found in a very unique way. I decided to run on down to an out-of-the-way BBV store that's south of Columbus. I had been there once a couple weeks before and they had quite a few flippables. After stopping at that store and getting a few games I headed out to go back north, but somehow managed to make a wrong turn at the stoplight and head onto the highway going south (oops, wasn't paying attention). As soon as I realized what I'd done, I felt very stupid. I drove for about two or three miles and got to an exit which had a few businesses here and there. For some reason I had a feeling I had to drive a little further east on that road because I could almost smell a Blockbuster somewhere up ahead. Within a half mile I saw a shopping center with a grocery store, and there it was-- almost glowing with a surreal light surrounding it-- a Blockbuster location that no one knows about.

Inside I scooped up handfuls of PS3, Wii, and 360 games. :D It was phenomenal-- almost like having found a cave with buried treasure in it. All the games were pretty much immaculate and almost all came with the manual and cover artwork. The Blockbuster employees were really polite and did their best to make sure I was getting what I wanted (and that's what made me wonder if this actually was just a dream I was having!).

I still can't believe that happened.

All the stores in my area are getting picked over, and my experience was definitely a one-of-a-kind. I grabbed 4 Virtua Fighter 5's for the 360, a Ninja Reflex for the Wii, 2 Fear Files, Forza 2 (it's $9.99), Spiderwick (360), PGR4, Frontlines Fuel of War, and a PS3 NBA Ballers. Not quite 15, but still a pretty nice haul.

Sure, it sucks if you are sitting on some Wii games, get rid of them Sunday while they still get $5 each.
I think the bigger factor is that unlike last summer, BB credit actual has some real value right now with the gift cards. Despite the demise of Visa's, there are still a good amount of useful ones(Macy's, Burger King, Live, PSN, Wii Points). Clearance of electronics of Archos, Memory cards, MP3 Players, Mario Figures, Walle toys, etc. The variety of movie posters.

I'm only sitting on 6 games(one being a wii), but i'll be happy with my little pile of GS credit. Hopefully my road trip on Monday to 4 gamestops that all have PS2 Network Adapters will be fruitful.

That's too bad, do you have a lot of competition or cleaned out BBVs? I'm lucky that I have a lot around me, and they were all untouched, even the few I visited after Christmas. Even if it's just $10 for 3 for my 360/PS3 games, I made out MUCH better this time around than during the perfect storm over the summer. All my stores had about 4 times as many flippables this time around.

On impulse I decided to go to BBV to see what they had. I picked up Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (Xbox) and Jumper (Wii) (thinking I could get bonus at GS) (Both $4.99), God of War and Lego Star Wars II (Xbox) ($9.99), and Bioshock and DMC4 (360, $14.99).

Went to GS and found out my Jumper was worthless, picked up a copy of Beyond Good and Evil (PS2). Then I went into my car and decided to look at my BBV loot. Found out the DMC4 was not in the box!

I went back to BBV and told her, she offered to let me pick something else up, but because I didn't have a BBV account couldn't refund me anything. So I looked around, saw Eternal Sonata but didn't pick it up, then gave her Battefield:BC (360) to see if that would scan 14.99. She said no, but offered to knock off $15 from the price to make it $10, effectively making Bioshock and BBC 2 for $25. Not too bad, but I probably still should have gotten ES instead. BTW, this store has TONS of games (good and bad), and anyone in NOVA can PM me for specific location).

I went like over a week ago, and I saw Mass Effect for 14.99 over with the xbox 360 games, and when I asked which games were the B1G1 the guy pointed me towards the used bins, so I went back to the bins, and saw BioShock in there priced at 19.99, and a few other games priced 19.99...guessing those were just games that needed a new price sticker on them...and Mass Effect was misplaced? or can I go over to the system shelves and pick up any games that are marked 14.99 and bring them up, cus last time I went in I was under the impression that only the games in the bins would qualify...

On a separate note, I traded in a Prince of Persia Ps3 for $36 again, thinking I'd buy some new B1G1 games. All I saw on the newly mentioned list was Condemned 2 and couldn't figure out what to pair it with, so I passed.

Went ahead and grabbed a $20 PSN card instead. Weird thing is, they charged tax on it. Last 2-3 I bought didn't have tax and when they first started carrying them, they did charge tax. So, they keep flip-flopping it seems.

As long as they are $14.99 and under (assuming it's a corporate store) they will qualify for the B1G1. A few BBV's I went to had the "used game" section and then more games with used stickers on them on gaming shelves around the store. As long as they are used and stickered $14.99 and under, you should be fine.

Also--I found Furu Furu Park at a few BBV's around me for $9.99 used. I don't own a Wii but friends (with little kids) do, so I figured I'd let them grab it. Never heard of it before but it looks like a cool little game with 30 mini-games. So be on the look-out for this especially if you have younger kids.

If you have an account it's 30 days (with or without receipt) and they will exchange for the same game or a different game at the same price. The guy at the BBV I just went to also said that they would be willing to refund if there wasn't anything else available. I think it is only if the game isn't working.

Went to GR and initially brought over Eternal Sonata and DMC4 (had them scan a 360 Burnout Paradise also - still $19.99, other than those they had a fairly poor selection.). Once he noticed thay were cheaper than the $19.99 sticker price, he let me see the list of today's price-drops so I could check for other qualifying games. Noticed it also had Viking (360) on it for $14.99, so I swapped-out DMC4 (which I've already played) for that instead.

Should also mention my local FYE was having a 50% going-out-of-business sale. No idea how long it's been like this, or whether it's chain-wide or not, but anyone who hasn't been to their local FYE for a while might want to check up on it. Of course nothing but PS2 games remained, but I still managed to get a couple of DVDs.

Also, I'm not entirely sure whether it was a general list of price-drops, or if it was a list that only covered the inventory of that specific store. The guy had to cross Eternal Sonata off the list after I bought it (their last copy), which could indicate the latter - a reference list for the titles in THAT store that they have to put new stickers on. Heh - I decided to forget about getting my last 2 Wii games in to GS and just take the slight loss and maybe get some real work done today instead. Now I may have to go out though. I think my local store may have a DMC 4, but I'm not sure if they have anything to pair it with.

I've seen all of them at non-GR BBVs. Most are pretty common around me, except Eternal Sonata and Luxor and the Hotwheels one.

I've seen Eternal Sonata at a couple of non-GR BBV's. I noticed that it seemed like a great deal even at the $19.99 it used to be. Problem is, I already have it (and of course have yet to play it).

DMC4, though, I bought on clearance at Target for the 360 for $14.98. If I can get a PS3 copy for $7.50 in BBV credit, that $14.98 goes back in a heartbeat.

Ended up flipping a copy of Monster Jam and Smash Court to BBV, and picked up (all 14.99 for :360:):

So I broke down and did some cash flips from BBV to GS since I'm out of BV store credit. I could have used the Prince of Persia I had t pay for it but I want to finish that game first.

I picked up :wii:Alien Syndrome and :wii:Geometry Wars, :wii:Metal Slug Anthology and :wii: Rockstar Table Tennis, and :ps3: GTA IV and :360:Mass Effect. I handed them to the cashier dude in those 3 pairs To minimize cost. When I was done chceking out he commended me on pairing up the games and said I was one of their "smartest customers.":D I'd have been visibly blushing if I weren't black, ...or a man for that matter. He also let me have an extra clear green case that I could move Mass Effect into.

I'm confused about why they punish their customers because they didn't educate their employees about their own products correctly.

For 3-4 weeks. Even after they pulled the visas, and I was told you couldn't buy them with store credit, the employee specifically told me that I could buy it with my value card. This was the last visa I bought.

He said the DM left it up to store managers if they wanted to ban or not ban, but the store closest to me banned. Oh well. All the Wii stuff was cleaned out when i got back from christmas anyway.

I can't say I'm happy about it. That's an awesome outlet to make cash from flips, but I understand how highly undesirable that would be for Blockbuster.

Well, yeah... sure it is. But what good is it if it's only temporary? BBV wasn't just going to let people run wild with it. They really had two options. Kill off VV's or keep closer tabs on trade-in prices, implementing a system similar to Gamestop's. Sorry, but the VV's were a worthy casualty.

Well, since I just got a PS3 I've been buying a lot of games for it at this sale and even in the case of former rentals they have all been in great condition. I've gotten a few GTA IV in absolutely mint condition (probably never played since they had so many copies). The DMC4 I just picked up had a few fingerprints but as it is a Blu-ray it cleaned up nicely. I've also bought Genji, Untold Legends, Armored Core 4, VF 5, and PotC and ALL of them are nearly spotless. Considering that in most of those cases those were 1 of 2 or 3 rental copies I'm glad they are pretty good. Usually the 360 games are in much worse shape when they have been heavily rented.

You buy what you want. I made two different people go through 10 discs today, and since they looked unplayable I didn't buy a single one.
Other times, I've been to the same stores, and have found discs in excellent condition. 50/50 as others have said.

^^Conan for the PS3 was the game I noticed on the list mentioned in my previous post but couldn't remember. Was looking mainly at the 360 games, but was surprised to see Conan in the section above, since it's been below $15 for quite some time on the 360.

Anyway, right now, in terms of quality (kind of...) titles, it's unbelievable how much better the current b1g1 is over the two in 2008. Really mostly launch games and movie tie-ins back then (Quake IV, PotC, Spider-Man 3, etc...) But now everyone's picking up some excellent (Bioshock, Orange Box, Condmened 2) and not-so-excellent (DMC4 8-[ ) games for their collection, which sort of compensates for the not-so-hot flipping opportunites now as compared for last year. I wouldn't be surprised if many "gamers" are walking away just as satisfied with this sale as last weeks Gamestop b2g1 sale in regards to the games they've purchased.

Oh yeah, just remembered that Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom (360) was on the $15 reprice list. (Which has nothing to do with my previous paragraph :headache: )

Blu-ray discs are hard to scracth. You can do it but it takes some work. So I would buy without concerns. Just make sure someone did not put a key to the dics on purpose and you will be fine.

Yeah, except that nearly every one of the games discounted recently to qualify for the sale is one they had too many rental copies of - or at least every store has had sitting there for sale from rental conversion for a long time. So I think it had little to do with trade-ins and more to do with getting rid of old rentals.

It was really hard for me not to buy Bioshock. I bought Mass Effect last week just because I couldn't believe it was so cheap. It was going to be decent but not great for the trade 3 deal when it was $5 per game - not so much now, so I'll probably keep it as an extra for CAG trading or to give to someone eventually. I could do the same with Bioshock but I resisted ;).

I also passed on Conan/Viking and those sorts of games. Yeah, they are dirt cheap, but, really, I'm never going to play them considering that I have yet to play Bioshock, Fable II, Banjo Kazooie, GTA IV, Orange Box (any part of it), and so many other top-rated games. I'm starting to have to draw the line even on games for $7.50 of BBV credit at this point (now, if they dropped to $9.99 then I might bite like I did with Genji and Untold Legends ;)).

I've been a lazy credit builder lately and only have credit left because my friendly local GR couldn't find a single GTA4 disk to go with the cases. I found 1 gta case paired it with whatever just to move credit to GS and saw another behind the counter (probably from another failed purchase) and tried to get them both. After checking the system and waiting about 15 minutes I left empty handed. Called back today and talked with the manager as instructed to see if he knew anything but failed as 3 discs have vanished. This is i don't know how many times now i've failed buying stuff from GR because people steal their games/systems. :(

I'm having somewhat of a dilemma with 360 games. I have the 360 still downstairs on the old TV. It is HD, but an old 1080i projection set. It has always looked phenomenal to me... until now. Now I have the PS3 upstairs on a 1080p set and I can barely stand to watch the TV downstairs any more. I want to keep the 360 downstairs for Rock Band/Guitar Hero though... I suppose I could buy another 360 with all this credit, but the account management issue sounds like a hassle. If MS made it so you could have your account on multiple machines and jump back and forth easily they'd get another sale out of me in a heartbeat. But no... So, anyway, I find myself not playing the 360 at all because in my setup, it looks like crap compared to the PS3 ;).

I mean, sure, I could get the PS3 Bioshock but it isn't cheap now. Maybe I'll just wait for that to get cheap!

LOL. I can understand that. At this point, might as well just wait til the PS3 version is in your cheap price range. I went ahead and picked it up the other day for like $28 used with Edge and 10% coupon at GS. Yes, you'd still have through close of business if that were to be true. The signage at my stores clearly says it ends 1/12, but who knows with BBV, they pull shit out of their ass constantly so I suppose they could end it early.

I wouldn't put any stock in any words that come out of an employees mouth as a general rule; many don't read their promo materials or communications info. At least around here they don't. Last B1G1, I had to plead with employees that the B1G1 was still going on (it was extended twice last time).

Took me some work though (had to travel between 2 BB i have total of 5 around my area in 5 mile radius) but all i can say is the guys that work there are really cool and down to earth. They even invited me to a game fighting tournament and winners get Soul Caliber 4 free.

P.S. the condition of the games are almost mint just a little wipes from here and there and your set!

Pikmin 2 dropped to $6.99! I had a decent haul last night including 2 copies of Pikmin 2. Only thing is that they were disc-only and were scratched to hell. I still managed not to get a refurb fee on them and got $16 TIV (base) for each of them.

I was at a BB around 6:20pm and found about 7 flippables games and a Viva Pinata: Party Animals ($9.99) to keep. When I went to pay, the shift leader couldn't find the key to the game case. She told me she thought that they were in the safe and that I had to wait 10 minutes for the safe to open. I was trying to get to GS before they closed at 7pm. Ten minutes passed and the safe opened but the keys were not in there. :bomb: I just left and traded what I had left. I still have a Spiderwick Chron Wii left.

I'm not a big DMC4 fan (I tried the demo), but at this point it's probably the only other game I would want.

Not too ure about the meat of your question, but just thought I'd chime in that it's been reported by several people already that GS is going to run Trade 3 Get $10 instead of $15. Sad news, I know.

I suppose I could buy another 360 with all this credit, but the account management issue sounds like a hassle. If MS made it so you could have your account on multiple machines and jump back and forth easily they'd get another sale out of me in a heartbeat.!

I use a memory card to jump between my upstairs and downstairs 360s quickly and easily. My "main" console is where I download everything so that the DRM is tied to just one box, but my profile can migrate no muss, no fuss.

As it's been pointed out, the promo is actually an exta $10. And in the previous deal like this, you got the bonus for every multiple of 3.

Quoting this in case io doesn't see the original post. salty tbone speaks the truth! Keeping your profiles on a memory card pretty much solves the account management issues. Whether or not it's worth having an extra 360 is a question you'd have to answer yourself though :)

Well my account is suspended from trades, "for now"

Apparently it was brought up in a district manager meeting and anyone who had purchased visa vanillas with credit were suspended from trading for allegedly "breaking the trade agreement"

I'm confused about why they punish their customers because they didn't educate their employees about their own products correctly.

For 3-4 weeks. Even after they pulled the visas, and I was told you couldn't buy them with store credit, the employee specifically told me that I could buy it with my value card. This was the last visa I bought.

He said the DM left it up to store managers if they wanted to ban or not ban, but the store closest to me banned. Oh well. All the Wii stuff was cleaned out when i got back from christmas anyway.
Are they really putting you in a three to four week time out? What the hell is the point of that? I guess it's better than getting banned permantly, but it's humorous that the action makes them feel better about the situation.

Speaking of which, I'm guessing the dipshit who called me from corporate hasn't hit my account yet because I traded in another district just fine. Grabbed NBA 09 The Inside for PS3 for 14.98 at Target with a giftcard I got for Christmas. I should be good to trade in my district according to what my local DM last said to me but I haven't tried. I need to find some games to flip to get credit for the three games I want.

Also, I know this has been said many times, but to confirm, if I want to use Archos player (for 99.99) as a DVR, I just pick up the DVR dock that they're selling for 24.99, right?

I've done pretty well with this deal, netting $182.xx credit at Gamestop on $89.xx spent at BBV, with 2 games kept so far: Speed Racer Wii (complete) and Metal Slug Anthology PS2 (disc-only/BBV case). I'm not an uber trader like many of you, but I can't help but be happy with getting double what I put in in GS credit, along with some keeper games for free. I haven't dove into the world of BBV trading (in) yet, but will eventually do so, I'm sure. I take it that some of you trade back and forth as opportunities arise, such as when b2g1's occur at GS, and thus build credit from credit?

work is pretty busy today but i got the call in and the sale is still on at least for today.

the prices say good through 1/4, you just didnt notice it before, because prices change on mondays only so the tivs listed today are good for the rest of the week which is why after today i do not understand why people report tivs later. anyway, these are confirmed today, i didnt have alot of time so i only got a couple. as people post tiv updates i will move this list and update it so it is easy for io.

Yeah, many of us (myself included) flip back and forth as often as possible. Depending on how many stores you have in your area, you can build up a LOT of credit very quickly, especially at a time like this with concurrent promotions at both stores. Now is the best time to turn BBV credit into GS credit, and the opportunities don't come very often. Since the GS to BBV flips are more abundent (and GS credit is now more valuable than BBV credit, IMO), I completely drained my BBV credit, since I know eventually a great flip will turn up with all the GS 25% off and B2G1 coupons. I'm just a little upset at myself for not buying more at GS during the B2G1, since I have a fully stocked BBV and no credit to spend.

That may be the price for the charging dock. The DVR dock recently dropped to $59.99. And yes, that is what you would need to use your Archos as a DVR.

If I get the full set for Animal, I can't. That is DEFINATELY the hard one of the set to find, and why I had such a hard time getting a second set for Io. If Animal doesn't want the set, and it is still there (only 1 left of that one) I can grab it for you.

I read the replies about using the memory card, but that seems like a PITA. At this point, I bought a VERY cheap broken 360 from a freind, and use the power cable from that and an extra HDMI cable to move the box up and down the stairs. That way I have everything on my 120GB HD and don't have to deal with it. Just throwing that out as an option Io.


Back to BB related. I went from at least one Eternal Sonata in every store to NONE at my three closest stores. I didn't get a chance to go any further yesterday, but I'll be looking for a copy of that today and tomorrow.
