Just to clarify, the B1G1 is still on, right? I went to 2 Blockbusters today, and the reps at both stores told me they "believed" the sale ended yesterday. However, is there a way for them to know for sure? During the B1G1 sales, is the promotion programmed into the register/computer, or do clerks always have the ability to do a B1G1 transaction with the push of a button?

If I recall correctly, Gamestop's trade in promotions are programmed into the register for the duration of the promotion and automatically apply as long as the criteria is met. It would be good to know if this is how it works for Blockbuster as well since I can always go back and have the cashier scan 2 games and see if the promotion is still running. Anyway, it's hard to believe that this deal would run through 1/12 at some stores and end at 1/5 at other stores. You would think the promotion would be consistent at all stores. Thanks in advance for any info provided..

I really need to stop revisiting this thread. Looks like it's off to scope out some Blockbusters again tonight, although I'm pretty sure I already bought up most of the good Wii games back during the bonus $5 offer.

Ditto here. Unloaded 8 Wii games on Sunday expecting the trade 3/get +$15 was only going to be trade 3/get +$10.

Yes the deal is still on at BBV. I was there a little while ago and picked a few games up, which leads to my second comment.

So as not to clog up this thread with unnecessary trade discussion, is there any way we can all discuss possible trades in a separate thread - like its done in the target thread? Obviously I'm not trying to make any more work for io, but I know that having scored/seen copies of Okami, Samba, Turok and a bunch of others that I don't want, I'd be more than happy to trade with people who could find something that I do want (to keep - not trade in)

Finally, ENDWAR (360) - 35

It is a seperate promo at Gamestop: trade 2 Wii or DS games and get $30 or $20 off select NEW Wii or DS games. So you have to buy a specific title for it to work but stone says you get the TIV + the $30 or $20 credit, even on games that are only $19.99 or $29.99 or whatever.

See here:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209950

I still want to make 100% sure he isn't getting overrides for this to work - because that way I could certainly see them adding the $30 or $20 in and getting it stacked with regular TIV. If it is automatic, though, this promo is golden ;). It is too bad there is very little left to get in terms of Wii or DS games from BBV though. I just traded one of my last 2 Wii games in last night with the trade 3 promo - only got $7.xx for DBZ BT 2 - would have definitely saved it for this had I known. I have a Bee Movie game left along with one extra copy of Flash Focus - so for both the DS and Wii promos I need another game of each type. I could toss in the Ninja Reflex I intended to keep - but that would be a shame as it is absolutely mint.

And I'm really mad with myself for passing up the slightly scratched Okami I looked at yesterday... Maybe I can still go back and get it - problem is that store is 20 miles away.

Definitely no override needed. Bought a wii fit and paid the balance with credit.

Bought a ds game after trading caspian and ninja gaiden ds and has the extra credit added to my card.

Anything's possible at BBV; they'll probably lower the used price to $14.99 but raise the TIV to like $30. That sounds about in-line with their business model.

anybody know the tiv for skate city heroes and fitness coach at bb?

already posted but i will repost since this thread moves so fast and some people do not want to sift through 2 pages. skate heroes will not trade at bbv.

Don't remember specifically - has a light brown dog on the cover though (I think).

Wait, what? Do you need the disc? Ie, if I am selling these on eBay are people going to want that along with it? Because they certainly didn't give me no disc when I bought it at GS.

Also, wish I could find the Wall-E figures on clearance around here - they were wiped out long ago.

YMMV - First of all, smudges are OK as they are cleanable. And I've been able to find near mint copies of just about everything I want. Granted, it is less likely with Bioshock and Mass Effect than with GTA IV because they weren't quite so overstocked with rental copies of those games vs GTA. Actually yesterday I looked at 3 copies of Bioshock and all were a bit iffy so I passed on it even for a GS flip (don't want any chance of a refurb fee when the profit isn't that high to begin with). Also, I had heard before that PS3 games (ie, blu-rays) were more durable but I didn't realize what a huge difference it makes till this sale. Nearly every PS3 game I've gotten from this sale has been mint once the fingerprints are wiped off. Kudos to Sony for making a medium that is conducive to used sales (and thus flipping). I'm sure that wasn't their intent though ;).

She flips for you? Marry that woman ASAP!

I seriously doubt you went the same time as me. My trade at 7:30 PM didn't work automatically while my trade at 8:30 PM did. Note that these times are Pacific, meaning if you are in Boston the deal went active around 11:00 PM your time. I don't think GS stores are open that late on a Monday after the holiday shopping season is over ;).

So, some people can't find GTA IV for PS3. I can't find a single copy of this game anywhere - would like one to keep.

I'm still confused over this GS deal for trade 2 get $20 off certain Wii/DS games. Someone will have to post a full transaction summary for me to fully understand it, I think ;).

if you see it pick it up cause at the least you could get more than boguht it for. also wall e figures are very scarce here and the network disc is not needed for modding a ps2 with a hard drive to load games onto so you do not need the discs. so do not worry about it. i might be able to pick up a second copy of samba for you if you would like.

100% verification that when they scan in the games that are eligible, anything that trades for 2.01 or more on ds games and anything that trades for 3.01 or more for the wii games, the bonus gets added directly to tiv total. so 2 games that trade in for the wii that have a total value of 10 will get a 30 bonus so the total tiv and amount you have is 40 or 41 with edge. i hope this makes sense.

So how do i take advantage of this if I don't want any of the promo games? Trade in some games toward one of these promos, them return the promo game? Will they even let you do that?

best bet would be pick up some then see if they flip to bbv. i will be call on the entire list tomorrow.

I specifically state in the OP that trade offers/requests are allowed here (unlike everywhere else on CAG). It's my thread and that's how I'm runnin' it ;). It is a rare enough thing with BBV that I don't think it will get out of hand.

I don't know why this keeps coming up. At corporate stores, the cag list is 100 percent accurate for prices. I always bring games up and act like I.don't know and ask if the price is accurate. I bought an okami today listed at 34.99 and it rang as 14.99.

According to Friend of Sonic's list in the third post, last reported values were $22 for 360 (12/14) and $23 for PS3 (1/4) so it would be a 2.3 or so cash flip, which isn't too bad I guess.

And out of curiosity, anyone that has been having account troubles (trading suspensions/bans) found any resolution? I haven't pressed the issue yet, but I know I at least have a hold on my account at two stores (though they are in the same district) and don't know if it's a corporate ban or just a district thing. I did stupidly buy a VV on my store account (wasn't even thinking when I did it) so I know that probably flagged me here, but didn't know if it would be corporate wide.

The trade agreement states that you're allowed to trade in 2 copies of each title per day. I think I accidentally traded 3 one day (had it in my stack of trades and let it slip in there instead of keeping it for the day after even though it was across 3 different stores) but my personal policy is 1 copy per store every other day.

Trading 2 copies in a single transaction is going to look fairly suspicious; the only time I think I've ever gotten away with it is if it's some game focused on multiplayer (Unreal Tournament 3 was the only title I did this with) so you have a viable excuse that you and your "friend" decided to get rid of them. As long as you get your copies in before Monday (when TIVs drop) you should be fine.

In my experience, GS doesn't care as long as you don't trade in 2 or more at once (and some people even say they don't have a problem doing that, but it's YMMV). Even so, I usually try to spread out my trades to the four GS within 3 miles of my house. If anyone would look at my trade history at a corporate level, it would be quite a site.

I'm not as prolific as many here, but in the past 7 months, I've probably dumped 10+ copies of at least 15 titles to GS (Table Tennis, FEAR, Timeshift, Spyro, Nights, etc.) and GS never bats an eye. Although I think one clerk purposely starting charging me refurb fees as a passive aggressive way to stop me from bringing in stacks of HWV caseless games that he'd have to look up. :D

:wii: Looney Tunes Acme Arsenal $9.99

Looney Tunes Acme Arsenal rang up $15.99 at my main BBV. It was marked 15.99 but I assumed it would be 9.99, and I had the cashier double check. He even asked his manager why the game costs 15.99 used and 11.99 new. Manager shrugged his shoulders, looked at me and suggested I buy it new. I politely declined (since there isn't a B1G1 for new ).

This store normally complies with the corporate pricing, so I'm interested if anyone else tried to by LTAA recently and had similar or different results.

Haha! That's hilarious. I've got a good buddy I've enlisted to help me, since I go through a fairly large volume of trades. It's funny because at one of our hometown GS' (we usually take trips out of town 1-2x/week) somehow I've gotten in really good with the crew of guys that runs the store, while they despise him!

I'm always very friendly and patient with them, and especially during the holiday madness of the last few weeks, they really seem to appreciate that. For some unexplained reason, though, my friend has become a villain in their store!

Every time he has gone in with a stack of games lately, he's been meet with less than enthusiastic responses; from audible sighs to outright cries of "Oh, you again!!!?" Now they even refuse him simple favors such as putting his credit from trade-in's on new EDGE cards (for 'gifts'). So the other day, he had to put his credit straight onto his main account.

You can imagine the look on their faces when his balance printed up $471.62!!! ;)

Guys -

When doing a pricecheck at BBV, make sure they are looking at the "pp" price (pre-played). The new item price appears above it and if you have a greenhorn behind the register, they will misread it and quote you the new price for a used item which messes with our used pricelist in the OP. Also, some have mentioned that if they mis-scan and hit the original UPC code instead of the BBV sticker, you will get the new price as well.

Hope this helps all of you having problems hitting the BBV before the B1G1 sale ends.

Edit: now that I think about it (it's late...) I'm remembering it being the "po" price (pre-owned). It makes more sense since I don't even know what the heck pre-played means (new?). Goodnight, all.

That GS promo is bat-shit insane. I took Sega Superstar Tennis (I took a guess at it having a decent TIV and was successful, it's 5.00 base) and Pool Party, which both cost me 9.99 after B1G1 free and turned it into 41.00 in credit. That's truly insane and stupid. Sometimes I don't get GS, but that's okay. The game I choose was Skate City. Debating on keeping it-- I may since I wound up with 21 in credit left over.

EDIT: Guys, a few of you have been asking about whether or not a game will trade in. Lately, it has been Skate Heroes. Whenever someone finds out that BBV cannot accept a game, I have been adding it to the list of trade in values in the third post. I started doing this when I called about the two 360 games someone was contemplating flipping when GS price dropped them-- two different BBVs told me they couldn't accept them for trade, which came as a shock to me. . I had no idea that BBV outright refused some games-- just thought a few of them required a look up for their value. Sorry for the babbling, but just check the third post. I will have any games and their TIV listed that our community knows about, even without a trade in value.

Man, I was just planning on trading my BBV games in to GS over the next couple of days and being done with flipping until the next coupon. Now, I cannot sit this one out, since I know at least a few stores that currently have Wii Fit in stock. Plus, I really want My Japanese Coach (might be going to Japan this summer!) and Mystery Case File: MillionHeir. I'm pretty tapped for Legendary, Oblivion, and Monster Jam around here, and I've traded in too many copies of Smash Court to risk any more. Looks like I'll be picking up some Prince of Persia or End War with the 10% off coupon. At least I currently have 2 DS games I'm willing to trade in and 2 leftover Wii games.

The first time I loaded the game, it froze at a white screen following the "Bandai" logo; reloaded it, and it worked fine. Afraid there was something wrong with the disk, I retested a number of times, and it always took two attempts to get to the title menu. Felt justified enough to consider my disc "defective", and even stopped by at the most well-stocked local GR to try to get it replaced (luckily I checked their used section rather than going straight to the register for a return...)

With no other copies were in stock, I figured I'd hold on to it a bit and see what happens - still had 28 days left to return it if need be. Anyway, just googled "eternal sonata" "white screen" (which I unfortunately remembered I wanted to try AFTER I boiled the disk #-o ), and found more than one message board where players were describing the same problem! So it's apparantly a normal occurence that won't necessarily be solved by getting another copy, and there were indications that the LIVE update will solve the problem (which I haven't had a chance to try yet.)

So to sum it up, anyone else experiencing this issue with Eternal Sonata do not (repeat: DO NOT) bring it back to GR to exchange it for another game or needlessly track down another copy; it probably won't solve a thing.

Same goes for disc 4 of Lost Odyssey...

Well, hit up three BBVs in Orange County tonight. Got Samba De Amigo:wii: MLB 2K8:wii: Alvin and the Chipmunks:wii: and Spyro:wii: at the first one to use for this $30 bonus GS deal going on right now. Second one the lady at the desk told me the B1G1 was over, and when I told her I was just at another Blockbuster that was still doing it she told me that Blockbuster didn't follow directions and take their signs down :wall:

Last Blockbuster was the same one I hit up on Sunday night. Found the copy of Eternal Sonata I had hidden away and just grabbed Fusion Frenzy 2 to go with it since I couldn't find anything else.

If any other CAGers on here are in the Irvine/Costa Mesa area, send me a pm and I'll let you know what games I've spotted at the BBVs in the area, although I've only really been paying attention to 360 games.

Does anyone know any good flips to Hollywood Video/Gamecrazy? Or at least EVEN ones? I really want some Capcom preorder goodness from Gamecrazy, but all my credit's at BBV or Gamestop. Really problematic. Anyone have any ideas?

gamecrazy has a store policy where they match trade in values for other stores so you can take any gs->bbv flip to gamecrazy and get the same amount of credit. its ymmv if your store follows corporate policy though cause there a few around me that continue to deny me any matching

I'm sad because I probably won't be able to do any more flips for a long time. Since all of these lovely events have happened in my personal life. It is too many of them to mention.
I guess I will finally have to sit back and enjoy just playing the games for a while.

Off topic, I know, but did the internet get really sloggy about twenty minutes ago? A number of pages are showing up incomplete, refuse to load, or will take forever to load. This is a problem on both IE and MFF. I'm able to play on XBox Live and browse the Live Marketplace so I'm assuming that my ISP is not the problem.

Hmm, you know, I've never matched TIVs before. Should I just bring in an old receipt? Wouldn't that look suspicious?

Go and try clearing your 360's cache.....

Go to your system settings and click on your memory and when your over the HD press Y then X,X Left Bumper,Right Bumper X,X and it will ask if you would like to perform this function just click yes and it takes like a second and that should help.. It usually stupid little updates you get for online portions of the games that cause issues with the offline modes..

I had freezing issues like crazy shortly after I got my 360 and was getting PO'ed and read this online and tried it and now to this date if I ever have any freezing issues with a game I go in and clear it out and everything is fine.

I have 2 copies of Cranium. What is the deal with trading in multiples and banning? Do they ban you from trading if you ever trade in two copies of a game at different locations on the same day or is that safe? I'd like to turn these into $32 to then buy games to use for the deals at GS and would ideally like to do it all this afternoon.

have you traded these there before? if the answer is no, then you should be all set. just ask them first and make up some bs story about playing with a friend or sibling. then make sure they know that you are allowed to trade 2 copies of a game per store per day.

Not sure if this is true for other BB or not, but at least a few in my area keep the used games in sleeves and in a giant bucket. I asked the employee if I could look through the bucket to see if there were other games I wanted since the selection on the floor wasn't as large as what was in the bucket.

I was able to find many of the games here that wasn't on the floor, it helped me pick up orange box and Mass effect which there were no boxes on the floor.

I've had the same price on that game. I'm beginning to think it is mismarked in the OP, and that BB raised the price on it. Has anyone bought it recently for $9.99?

Sucks because I wanted that one to keep for my son...

No one really answered my question about whether or not Blockbuster B1G1 deals are programmed into the register for the duration of the promo (ala Gamestop) or if the cashier always has the ability to ring up a B1G1 sale as long as he/she believes the promo is still valid, which would make these sales dependent on the cashier's knowledge of the sale.

In other words, if I go to a Blockbuster and the cashier tells me the B1G1 deal is off, can I ask him to ring up 2 qualifying games and see if his computer gives me the 2nd one for free? FYI, I went to two Blockbusters yesterday that had a decent amount of flippable games, but I was told the B1G1 deal had expired. Can their registers tell them otherwise? Thanks again.

Yes, its automatically handled by the register when they hit total. Just be sure you only buy games of the same price point if the employees are being unhelpful. Otherwise, they need to hit total after each equally-priced pair to make sure you get the correct ones free.

Interesting. Found out that Skate City Heroes has a 5.00 TIV at Gamestop. Since tax isn't charged on my credit, it's actually a 51 cent profit after Edge if I do it with the two Wii game promo. It's easier than having to return the thing, and it makes used merchandise, which makes the game cheaper for those with a coupon of the week... but at the same time denies them the opportunity to get this game if they're trading in two Wii games. I'll probably just try to do a return, but it's something interesting to keep in mind if you're unable to return the game.

I'm going to head out to a lot of Blockbusters. There's still TONS of Wii games here. I never even bothered with the 5 dollar promo, so I have plenty of pickings. Since I'm going to be making so much bank at Gamestop, I'll buy a few of the 26.99 games to flip to Blockbuster. It'll also let me test out of trade account, which as far as I know hasn't been banned by Mr. Suit and Tie in Texas yet.

That's what I did on the trade two get a new game for 20 bucks promos back in November. Once the game I wanted became used I waited for a coupon or B2G1.

OK, let's assume they put the credit back on my Edge card. Would the cashier be able to see that I had purchased it using credit on my Edge card? I guess the bigger question is: does Gamestop monitor all my transactions with my Edge card? I'm assuming they would monitor trade-ins, but can they monitor purchases as well since I'm basically only making purchases using store credit?

BTW, if it isn't obvious by now, I'm a complete CAG noob. I just don't want any red flags raised if I trade in 2 DS games to get the $20 bonus towards another game and end up returning that same game to another GS with a gift receipt. Obviously, the only way this would happen is if I get the credit back on my Edge card (as opposed to a gift card), and my account shows that I purchased the game earlier at another store.

i would assume gift card or credit.

That's what it's supposed to be, but it depends on the CSR. Some rookies (and some who just don't check carefully) will give you cash back instead, which is always a great bonus. I bought 3 games with the B2G1 last month, plus a new game (all originally for me to keep), but I decided not to keep them once one of them didn't work and I found another cheaper. I returned the 4 of them and got around $120 in cash instead of credit. It was fantastic!

But don't expect that to happen too often, because it really should only be your original form of payment.

I dunno if this is off-topic but, how does Blockbuster's trade-in credit work as far as being taxed?

Because I had traded in some games and received a card with the credit on it. I then went to put a $5 pre-order on both SF4 and KZ2 and I looked at my receipt and the total cost was $10.70.

I thought store credit on cards wasn't taxed when making a "purchase".

Because I remember at GameCrazy I had a bunch of store credit and when I went to make purchases with this credit, I was never taxed since it's not a "purchase" I'm making but rather using my credit.

It may just be the way their POS system works, but Blockbuster trade reservations do include tax. In the end, though, you only get charged the difference for the game (ie, you've already paid $5 and tax on the first $5 of the game, so you're only paying the remaining $55 + tax when you pick it up).

It appears the deal will run until 1/12. From what I've gathered through my numerous inquiries in this thread, the promo is built into the system. If you go to a BBV and they say the promo is off, just have them ring up a couple of qualifying games and have them verify that this is, in fact, true.

I think they can, but they're not likely to unless you're doing something particularly suspicious. Thats what I was told actually.

I had a bought a few games and decided to return one and get my credit/money back... Thing is I left the original receipt with the store I returned the first game to. All I had left was the "return" receipt, which indicated the original transactions information.

Then there was a price drop on Dokopan (sp?) Kingdom and I wanted my $20 or whatever back (within 7 days). I brought my new game and "return" receipt to two Gamestop's and both said they could not access the other stores info, for this situation, nor could they help me in any way. One offered to return it at the current price (which was pointless as I was returning to get my $20 back).

Finally I was in the area of the original store and gave the associate the "return" receipt he used the transaction info to look up my original purchase and told me exactly what you said. They have no access to other stores trades or sale info.

FYI.

Gamestop(used base before discount) --> BBV

Disney's Bolt PS3 $24.99 --> $30.00

Good catch Shumway. Unfortunately, for me at least, there's only one PS3 copy within 100 miles of me and no 360. Hopefully this TIV holds and we see it. Kind of odd the Wii version is still 44.99.

I've had the same price on that game. I'm beginning to think it is mismarked in the OP, and that BB raised the price on it. Has anyone bought it recently for $9.99?

Sucks because I wanted that one to keep for my son...

I've never seen it for sale at all and just added it to the list because someone reported it that way. I'll remove it since it seems that was probably a mistag that one person saw.

Basically there was an issue with the latter half of the game (especially disk 4) freezing alot, as heavily reported on gamefaqs during the first week of release. I have no idea whether this just affected the first batch of disks or whether it was eventually fixed by a LIVE update. Apparantly it's still happening:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/search.php?board=928334&search=freezing

All I know is that I got hit after playing about 4 hours without a checkpoint near the end, so I decided to just trade it in and watch the rest on youtube.

EDIT: Here's a detailed post on disc 4: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=928334&topic=44700956

Odd - well, I had a release copy and had no problem with it,

There might be a couple but there's not much in the 19.99 range left to drop and it would only give you two days (Sun, Mon) to take advantage. I'm up for the challenge! :)

Some that I can think of: GT5 Prologue PS3, Burnout Paradise 360, Oblivion 360. I know there were several PS3 games marked $19.99 that I would love to see drop on Sunday ;).

Nice find, man...thanks for the research!

BTW, I can't believe GS has raised Motorstorm up to $14.99..the same shit they pulled with Wii Sports.

I was having fun last week buying that at GS, trading it in to BBV, then buying it back and re-trading at another store to move a little credit.

io, any chance of updating the op with the end date or the thread title and did you do some cleaning?

I already did (in the OP, not the title that is - no room in the title, it's full ;)). I put some of the big lists in the OP in spoiler tags to shorten it up. I was tired of scrolling past all that on my iPhone when in BBV stores. Other than that, no cleaning has occured.

Bolt is a nice find (and has been added to the second post), but it seems widely unavailable. There are no 360 copies near me and just one PS3 copy 32 miles away at a store I'll never go to.

Sucks about Motorstorm - I'm glad I bought a couple of copies a while back (one to keep, one to send to my Dad). I have to admit, it hardly seems worth more than the $8.99/B2G1 I paid for it ;).

Ninja Reflex rang up $19.99 at BBV, unavailable for the sale. Yes, this was a pre-owned copy, as the new ones were $20.99. I'd bought a Ninja Reflex from this sale Blockbuster a few weeks ago and it was definitely $9.99. I don't get it. And they had three of them too. :(

Check reviews for that on say Newegg or Amazon though.. lots of hardware lockups failures.. I dont know if a firmware update fixed the issues or what. It was really a mixed bag.

Well, even though I'm driving on a spare tire, I made the rounds today because that silly GS Wii promo is too absurd to pass up. Gamestop is either really wanting to burn through the new copies of these games so they can move on to selling used ones, or somebody made a big mistake with the promo in the registers.

Bought at BBV (all Wii):
Alone in the Dark $14.99
Williams Pinball (free)
Table Tennis ($9.99)
Fantastic Four RotSS (free)

Grand total: $27 in BBV credit after tax

Then went to two gamestops:

Williams Pinball Hall of Fame (Wii)
Base: $6, Edge: $0.60, Promo: $15
total: $21.60

Rockstar Table Tennis (Wii)
Base: $8, Edge: $0.80, Promo: $15
total: $23.80

Separate transaction at another store:

Fantastic Four: RotSS (Wii)
Base: $5, Edge: $0.50, Promo: $15
total: $20.50

Alone in the Dark (Wii)
Base: $5, Edge: $0.50, Promo: $15
total: $20.50

So, between both transactions, my total TIV was $86.40 (from $27 spent at BBV). Granted, I now have a copy of Skate City Heroes and a copy of Wii Music that I don't want, but I'm going to try to return them later on. I got gift receipts, but I'm not sure you even need them. I mean, as far as the receipt shows, it just shows abnormally high TIVs for crappy games.... doesn't seem to indicate anything that would prevent you from returning the new game for credit.

When I bought Skate CH, I got $20 back on my Edge card; when I bought Wii Music I had to pay a $4.59 difference.

Gamestop is out of their minds.

I'd love to get in on this GS deal but the Wii titles have been wiped clean from most of the stores around me for a while now. I had a hard time scrounging up some for the $5 deal last week, and unfortunately, as it turns out, traded most of those back then.

The DS one might be a bit more doable, and there's actually some games there I wouldn't mind keeping.

Yeah, I've completely cleaned out both my local BBV stores of all the BOGO Wii games too. I was luckily able to find the last 4 that I hadn't bought yet though today. Between both my stores, there's like 4 used DS games in stock. Sucks.

I did not know this was $14.99. I saw that along with Alone In the Dark at one BBV a few days ago. Of course, I'm pretty sure I had traded both of those games there myself ;). AitD was tagged $24.99 or something and while I was fairly sure it was now $14.99 I still figured it wasn't worth it for the trade 3 promo. That was before I knew about the other promo though. Well, its YMMV on Gamestop accepting two of the same game on a trade-in. But assuming they let you, and assuming you have an Edge card:

You'd get $5.50 after Edge + $15 bonus for EACH game.

So, you'd trade in both games and get Skate City Heroes as well as $21 store credit back.

The way the promo works, you get $30 toward one of the listed game, which is broken down as $15 tacked on to each game. Skate City Heroes only costs $19.99 though, even though its one of the eligible titles for purchase.

I flipped for the first time ever today after reading these forums for about a month Started with 38 credit at GS picked up 360 Legendary and Cranium Kabooki got 35 and 16 for them from Blockbuster. Picked up GTA 4 PS3 and 360, Major League Baseball 2k8 Wii, Battle of the bands Wii, Meet the Robinsons Wii,Lost PS3, Bioshock 360, and No more heroes. Kept bioshock and No more heroes. Flipped the rest for 69.54. Grabbed Oblivion GOTY, Sega Superstars Tenis PS3 (MISTAKE), and Luxor: Pharoh's Challenge flipped them for 57. Grabbed Bully WII and 360, GTA 4 360 and PS3, DMC4 PS3 (wish they had 360 I would keep that), and Haze PS3. Going back tommarow to flip those. Ended the day with 6 games to flip, 2 to keep and 30 cred at GS and 9 at BB. All thanks to CAGs.
Other then the 2 I posted earlier all the TIVs held.

I went to GS to buy some games and flipped three of them (no new confirmations to the third post) and got 92.00 in trade at BB. Apparently I wasn't banned entirely from Blockbuster. I've yet to try the district I was originally banned in though. Who knows when the guy from corporate will actually ban me? Seeing how Cranium Bukkake still trades in for 16 dollars, I'm hoping they never get around to banning me.

I used some of the credit to get two and a half more batches of Wii games ready for trade. If everything goes to plan, that'll be 32.XX of BB credit turned into 120.XX at Gamestop. That's in addition to the 10.78 in cash that I turned into 41 at GS last night. That's smoking right there. The stuff dreams are made of, right there.

Despite my girlfriend's protests, I'm probably going to spend the night stopping at Blockbusters to pick up Wii games. I'll probably just bribe her with a Wii Fit for 50 dollars if I find a store that has one in stock. But, so far I've been able to find at least two games at each store prime for flipping.

Does the Collector's Edition of Prince of Persia for PS3 trade in fine to BB?

Someone else also mentioned you can still ask for a gift receipt for purchases. Last time they ran this kind of promo, I know for a fact that gift receipts work beautifully for returns. For any games I'm getting tonight, I'm definitely going the gift receipt route.

Yep, same here. I'm keeping Skate City Hero as an emergecy Wii game in case I only find one Wii game at a BB. I'm not even worried about returning it. Worse case scenario, even if this game spontaneously explodes, I still made 9.XX in credit. This promo is gold. I almost want to go on vacation for the rest of the week and exploit it. Hmm, talking about Wii Fit, my store in Cypress, CA has them. I used the promotion to buy one today :) (for a coworker), unless someone knows how to turn them into a profit, not involving ebay.

It just occurred to me, selling skate City back to gamestop is actually a loss of a dollar, due to tax. So I'm taking them back (unless I need a wii game desperately), hmm but then again buying a game to replace it will cost me more unless it's bought with the B1G1 and is 10$ to start with. Damn this is all BBV's fault for banning me, now I'm forced to be super creative.

Hmm, talking about Wii Fit, my store in Cypress, CA has them. I used the promotion to buy one today :) (for a coworker), unless someone knows how to turn them into a profit, not involving ebay.

Well, you always have Craigslist. Even just a few weeks ago, people were getting some big numbers for Wii Fit (although that had a lot to do with Christmas). I don't have the heart to sell hard to find items for a huge profit like that to normal everyday people who want to use them. Last year I cashed out some GS credit with three Wii systems, but sold them for 270, which I thought was pretty reasonable. I only have the mercilessness will to cheat out huge corporations.

Thats what I was worried about too, returning so many copies of the same game to different stores would have to raise some red flags.

Yeah, I didn't think about the tax issue. In AZ, I'm not taxed for GS credit so it's a nonissue for me (and quite nice, it's almost a trade incentive to give them games since you save on 8.1% sales tax)

I heard GS does ban people, but rarely. IIRC, Emg29 told me once that if GS bans you, it's tracked by your Edge card. So, you just pay for another Edge card. But I don't know if that's true, especially if you make a DM super-pissed at you.

Well If i'm going to trade a copy of a game toward the same copy of a game they're going to know what I'm doing regardless. I'm on friendly terms withe GS I have my SF IV reservation at so I doubt they'd ban me. They might just refuse the trade though. I just want to be aware of what danger I might be skirting with the Gamestop corporation though. I haven't heard of anyone getting banned from there unlike Blockbuster.

Friend of Sonic

Yeah, maybe it's not adviseable to trade a copy of a game towards the same copy. You could always be "It's a gift for my friend so I figured I'd get him a sealed copy roflrofl"
I'm mainly keeping a hold of one because the odd game issue. When I trade that game in, I'll just whatever random game with a gift receipt, and then return it later on.

Also, for the fears of the ban hammer, I didn't get banned and I did it five times during the last promo. It was good timing to be able to buy Lego Star Wars and Orange Box and flip them for Xmas gifts. Got a couple of people Gears 2 for Christmas and no one hassled me about it.

Now, if it was Blockbuster running this promotion, they'd probably get ahold of Interpol and tell them I had a worldwide drug smuggling ring that's based in my local Blockbusters.

There's nothing in the fine print of the promo that outlines what happens if you try to return the game. There's nothing on the receipt that indicates you'd have any problem returning it. The return itself is legit: its sealed, with receipt.

I have no qualms returning. Don't know when I'll have a chance to try, but I'll def. share my story.

i saw this deal yesterday during lunch and also saw the wii fit, so i end up buying the wii fit yesterday. The guy at GS told me just do a return and rebuy when you bring two wii game in next time. I did that today, guess what??? they kinda Fxxk up the return instead giving me credit back on my edge card, they give me the cash diff. something like 36.XX. Now i can pretty much cash out some good GS credit with more wii fit. (I hope).

P.S. Any suggestion on any of those wii games i should keep?

Has Gamestop been known to ban people?

There was at least one CAG that was banned at GS for flipping titles from one store to another. This was during a +$5 promotion and there was some cheap game that he could buy for $2 or $3 (at GS) and then get $6 or so for it by trading it back in and he did it with several copies and eventually they caught on and banned him. As long as you aren't doing something that obvious I wouldn't worry about it. Returning the Wii games that you get from the promo is a different sort of thing anyway.

Can someone please pm me with how to flip, Im still new and got like 3 blockbuster stores around me... will pay you back somehow! Thanks

Yeah, sure, read the quote below from another newbie who seemed to figure it out pretty well. The only mistake he made was buying a GS->BBV flip from the second post with a really outdated quote without checking up on it at BBV first (it was from November until I just deleted it since it is no good any more - SST for PS3 that is). Basically, though, the second post (of this thread) pretty much covers it.

Um, yeah, he did that too - it's all in there ;). BBV = Blockbuster Video (to keep it from getting confused with BB = Best Buy).

I think they have profiles for everyone that has an Edge card or trades in. Every time I trade in, they ask for a phone number, and they either ask for my ID or ask me my name for verification. Also, once they enter my phone number, it adds the Edge bonus to my trades. Of course, paying is another thing, and you could always use a different Edge card for that, but only the stickered one will get you the 10% off, and that bonus is pretty much a necessity for flipping.

So far with the bogo deal Ive scored:

Alien Hominid GC 4.99-free
Cars-360 6.99 (still sealed)

FEAR Files 360-9.99
StarWars: Republic Command Xbox 9.99-free

Timeshift 360 9.99-free
Professor Layton DS 14.99

Great deals so far, too bad alot of the stuff they have I already own.
Saw:
Ninja Gaiden DS 14.99
GTA IV 14.99

Just those are notables.

So anyone here know about the Gamestop F.E.A.R. 2 deal (haven;t seen a thread for it yet.) You get $40 credit towards the game for trading in 2 "select" titles (current gen - 160 eligiable games!). Could amount to a $15 to $40 flip or better for those genuinely interested in the game (and who wouldn't be!), provided those "eligible" titles can be gained through the current B1G1. Who knows, maybe you could even cancel your order. But what we need now is the list of eligable titles...

Well Skate (14.99 at BBV) is included for the Fear deal. Also, so is Ace Combat 6. Many CAGs got that game for 9.99 (or 4.99 after B1G1) So, if you somehow had that combo of games, that amounts to a flip of 17.50/12.50 before tax to turn into 40. Certaintly not bad, but your options are limited at the current time to exploit the offer. The Wii one is certaintly more lucrative.

10% trade bonus and 10% off used products. So whether you're buying stuff to flip to BBV or trading it in, it pays to use your Edge card. When you get the Edge card, they get your name and address for the Game Informer subscription. At least for me, they take your phone number and get your name when you trade games in. I think they just kind of link all of it to you somehow, anyway. I've traded games four times in the last week without an Edge card because I wanted to split the credit up. Each time I still get the Edge bonus, and it has my Edge account number on the receipt, and the way it looks is that it come on automatically after they get my phone number.

Just enlist the help of a friend...;)

I have a few friends who help me with flipping, and I've bought EDGE accounts for them. I'll usually keep their cards with me, and if need be, I'll instantly 'become' someone different.

Of course, if your GS goes to the trouble of asking you for a picture ID, you're kind of screwed (whoops, forgot my wallet!), but all they usually do is verify the name (when purchasing), and verify the name + phone number when trading in.

i don't think so...i was told i was banned from trading at GS by the DM (IF you really wanna know and don't intend on bein an a$$ bout it read here --> )I worked at GS as a temp job, and while trying to use the cellfire coupon (which i had printed out several times) i had apparently raised some flags (most likely when i yelled at a GS employee at a different location than the one i worked at for not taking the printed out coupon cuz i explained my phone was broken (and it indeed was, no joke). So f'in DM called my manager up and told him to put my hours on hold for 2 friggin weeks...then at the end of that time period, I got fed up with waiting and called manager asking "what's the deal?!" He then informed me (with a very annoyed tone, as if asking when i was going to work again was such a burden to answer) "uhhhhhh...yeee....DM talked to me...told me to let you go..." After a terrible and enraging week of the DM not returning my calls..i finally got ahold of him and he told me I had used an "illegitimate coupon" *rolls eyes* and "Traded in the SAME GAME (NOT PLURAL) twice" told me they didn't need people like that cuz it "violated the employee contract I signed at the beginning of my hire" and that he was banning me from trading ever again at GS. absolute BS. Got a better paying job now anyway thankfully and told DM to fuck himself

so i grabbed my brother and took him along on a very short-lived trading trip (he HATES flipping with me...or period for that matter). When he went to do my trade-ins for me, he accidentally told them MY NAME and address and i slapped my head quietly thinkin "awwww shiat". Well it went thru with no probs. So i tried doing it alone at a different location (same district as the DM who banned me tho) and when i got to the point where i tell them my phone number, i gave them my parents # and different address...and that seemed to work fine (cuz my condo addy is the one im sure is banned). Tho on a side note...the idiots at GS ALWAYS mishear my name when i tell them it...so im in the computer THREE TIMES..As "Ryan", "Bryan" and "Brian"...so that COULD ALSO be a factor in circumventing my ban O_o

Alright, so now I'm sitting here in my living room with two Wii Fits. Again, for anyone in my area, the Gamestop/EB Games at South Coast Plaza said they had a lot available.

First Gamestop:
Alvin and the Chipmunks: $5 + Edge + $15 = $20.50
Spyro: $5 + Edge + $15 = $20.50

Wii Fit, $96.96 after tax - $41 from trade-ins. I owed $55.96 which I had in credit.

Things got interesting at the second GS. The girl behind the counter didn't know about the promo, so first she gave me the credit for the two games back to my Edge card. When I asked about the promo, she went to get the Wii Fit, and then rang up a separate transaction where she manually subtracted the $30 from the Wii Fit for me. Looking at the receipt now, it looks like she basically just gave me $30 off the Wii Fit, and didn't stack it on top of the trade-in value

Anyone know if I can take my two receipts back to the store and ask for an adjustment?

I don't see the need for you to adjust. If she would've done it on the same transaction, it would've added $15 to each Wii game. Edge doesn't stack on that bonus $15, just on the original price, according to my receipts. Since she took off $30, it's the same as adding $15 to 2 Wii games.

Ah my fault, I didn't explain it correctly. What she did was subtract $13.50 from the Wii Fit, and then swiped my Edge card with the $16.50 from the trade-in value to get a total of $30 off the Wii Fit. So she basically shorted me $16.50 on the deal.

Is it possible to just take the two receipts in to a GS and explain it to them?

Holy shit. I swear, when I walked into two BBVs, a song called "Flipper's Paradise" played in my head-- it had new lyrics for the art of flipping and everything. Coolio even rapped it. Long story short, two BBV within five minutes of each other had 11 sets of Wii games (22 total) to trade into GS. Awesome. I'm out of credit now. Gotta obtain some more.

The only problem with this flip is that I'm going to wind up with like 11 Edge cards. Edge cards can't be combined, right? And I don't want to buy one giant giftcard because I'll start to get charged tax.

Honestly, this is b1g1 has been better than any others I've taken part in. I actually enjoyed it more than the perfect storm, for the most part.

I managed to keep: (newer used games)

Mass Effect (360)
Condemned 2 (ps3)
Lost (ps3)
Eternal Sonata (360)
Samba De Amigo (Wii)
Bioshock (360)
Okami (Wii) (now i can keep my copy unopened)
Flash Focus (DS)
Advance Wars (DS)

plus whatever I have in credit. I should have picked up the copy of Haze and Kane/Lynch I saw today, but I ran out of BBV credit until I can make my final trip to GS.

I am also going to try to take a Manhunt 2 and Ninja Reflex and grab RRR or a Wii Fit. I did manage to get a second copy of Eternal Sonata if somebody wanted a copy and couldn't find one.

I've paid for stuff with credit that was on several cards. The 10% bump isn't that great that with the deal going on right now that it might be worth it to not use edge and get tracked. The extra $1 isn't that important if you are getting an extra $30 and won't be tied to your account. And it will still be tax free since it is credit.
Right now i'm sitting on one with a big 26 cents on it. When I get a big stack of games the kids get out their cash register and pretend to scan them, they even check the discs. I'll let them use that card to put my imaginary credit on. I'll start to be concerned when they ask me if I want to pre order anything.

Which Perfect Storm was better?
Hard to say, once you get 20 inches of snow, what's another 5?
I think last one lasted a lot longer with more games available. This $30 bonus came just a little late for some, but I'll be trading another Quantum of Solace and Bolt(PS3) tomorrow and hopefully find some more scraps.

I prefer the prev storm since even though current Wii deals is good. It requires a lot more work; only 2 games per store? While during the perfect storm all gen is included, so you get a lot more games, credit and less travel.

This b1g1 is good for stocking games though.

For me, it absolutely has blown the summer's sale out of the water. I've had probably at least 4 times as many flippables per store than last time around, and I've found a lot more worth keeping for myself. I made a LOT more credit this sale, and I think I spent less time, too. I'm really hoping for a 360/PS3 coupon this weekend, because I'm out of BBV credit, and I'd realy like to continue. I've got a lot left at at least a few stores, plus a few more stores I've never even been to that are reasonably close. If it comes down to it, I'll probably just pick things up using the 10% coupon, if they aren't too out of my way.

I'm bored at work so I'll take a stab at this one.
I'd have to say no.
As far as Gamestop goes, first Def Jam Icon gets 50 cents.
Cars and DMC 4 get 8. Pirates gets 3, Condemned 2 gets 5 and Transformers gets 6.
Take the three best and get a $10 bonus at Gamestop, so $32 for Cars/DMC4/Transformer.(base TIV plus 10)
George of Jungle is only $8.99 at GS so TIV is probable $2 at most(not eligible for the $30 bonus) So put that with Pirates and Condem2 and get $20(TIV with the trade 3 get $10 bonus.
Spongebob Racing, i have no idea what this game is but sounds like something my kids would like.
Ninga Dragon sword for DS gets $7 at GS.
Your looking at $59.50 at Gamestop plus the Spongebob game.

I appreciate your work on this.. but considering I was going to keep all the games I got and play all games is this a good deal? I have never been to a gamestop.. are their individual game prices lower than BlockBuster or GameCrazy?

You mentioned resell value so i thought you were looking to flip these.
If you are keeping them then, sure it's good deal. The prices of most of these won't drop any further and getting them B1G1 free is rare.
Used games are usually higher at Blockbuster, which is how the flipping from Gs/BB is profitable. Not familar with Gamecrazy.
Gamestops are seen as an evil monopoly to some, but for a little over a year now i've been playing Monopoly with Blockbuster, Gamestop, Hollywood Video, Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, and Ebay and I think I'm winning :D

thanks I was hoping so considering I spent like $60 a piece for GTA4 and NBA2k9 lol.. I admit I just got a Ps3 last xmas so Im sort of a newbie to all this.. but figured that many games for the price I spent for my last couple each retail was pretty good... what do you think is the funnest game out of the ones i got.. I am just waiting to try them... of course I will play them all but right now my son is having fun with the cars game :) I still need a extra controller and bluray remote but that equals like $80 lol...

my local blockbuster also had

(wii) samba or sambo/? the macarana shake thing, also had scarface for wii for $15
and a few others... should i have grabbed that samba? or scarface for 15$?

Also my ps3 is a 80 gb but doesnt have the optional pullout to add memory cards etc.. (or at least I cant open it lol) but I wonder will the PS3 play old ps1 and ps2 games? they had a lot of them there!

Yikes! Time for some more thread cleanup . Lots o' posts deleted!

Anyway, back to the discussion:

Long story short, two BBV within five minutes of each other had 11 sets of Wii games (22 total) to trade into GS.

Lucky bastard - the Wii games were cleared out of here for the most part before the $5 bonus deal for Wii games even started!

I didn't partake in the Perfect Storm, but this Wii promo at GS has got to be blowing it out of the water, right?

Which Perfect Storm was better?
Hard to say, once you get 20 inches of snow, what's another 5?
I think last one lasted a lot longer with more games available. This $30 bonus came just a little late for some, but I'll be trading another Quantum of Solace and Bolt(PS3) tomorrow and hopefully find some more scraps.

I agree with stone's assessment.

And thus, for my reason above, I say no way to your question FoS. Yeah, sure, if you find 22 Wii games (at all, let alone flippable ones) at 2 BB's like you did then it might be much better this time. But I just went to 4 Blockbusters and only found 4 total flippables (all at one store I might add) and they were all the $14.99->$5 kind, so I only picked up 1 to add to my leftover Wii game from before to try the GS promo.

During the summer the sale lasted for well over a month, and things kept changing at GS to make the deal better and better. At first it was decent simply for regular trades at GS. Remember at the time we were thrilled to have even-money flips from BBV to GS just to get the more useful GS credit. But then GS started the $5 bonus deal on all next gen stuff. That pretty much took the even and slightly better flips to 2x or 3x territory. And the great thing was in the summer most regular people weren't buying up the BBV games. Then the GS promo changed to the tiered offer and that allowed us to trade the just recently converted PS2 stuff like Iridium Runners and Power Rangers Super Legends - both of which were available at just about every store with no one else even thinking of buying them.

This time the selection was YMMV to begin with, and with the huge number of Wiis sold the last few months and people in the holiday shopping mood the Wii games got wiped out (around here anyway) within days of Christmas, even before the $5 deal started at GS. I was glad to get about 10 games total to trade in for that deal.

During the summer sale I could go to any BBV and find at least 10-20 2x or greater flips. I usually didn't buy that many at once so I often went back repeatedly to the same stores and got more week after week.

Today, on the other hand, I was pretty desperate to get something to try this promo out. The first store was a near bust. They had not a single Wii game for sale used except the $34.99 and up stuff. I did manage to get a Ninja Gaiden DS along with yet another GTA IV (360 this time - they were finally out of the PS3 version). I didn't really want yet another GTA but I needed something to go with the DS game.

The second store had some really weird things. Again, not a SINGLE Wii game under $30 or so. But they had some other $14.99 games I've never seen mentioned. I'm glad I went because my son has been bugging me for a while to get him Guitar Hero II of all things (since he's played all the others). Well, this store had it for the 360 for $14.99. And then in the DS section the only used game they had was Imagine Babyz, also $14.99. Well, that was perfect . Oh, and they did have 3 copies of Bully for 360 and since that's a good one with the $10 bonus deal (ends up being $7.50 -> $14.34) I bought 2 of those.

Finally, the last store had the stuff I mentioned I saw the other day: Narnia DS, Nintendogs, Alone in the Dark x 2, Code Lyoko, and No More Heroes. I bought the 2 DS games, Alone in the Dark, and a Beautiful Katamari (surprised to see that as that was one wiped out during the perfect storm) to make my 2 B1G1 pairs.

So, some strange trade-ins followed at GS.

First I did 6 360 games for the $10 bonus (and in case anyone is still wondering, it applied the $3.34 bonus to all 6). Same prices as in the second post, though I think Ratatouille dropped from $5 to $4. So I got $65 from $33.50 worth of BBV games. Not bad, and it does not require any return trickery.

Then I was going to try 2 DS promo trades and 1 Wii one. They didn't have the Guinness game in stock (which I want to get for my daughter for her birthday), so I just did one DS trade for The Cooking Trainer game. I might keep that if it has the sorts of recipes my family likes. Otherwise I might try to swap it for the Guinness game at another store (which I think is a very valid thing to do no matter what).
On that trade I got $16.60 for Imagine Babyz and $14.40 for Narnia. Then on the same transaction I traded Bee Movie game and Alone in the Dark. After buying Wii Music those got me $20.50 each. The net result was that I ended up getting the 2 games and $2.02 back on my Edge card . All for $25 in BBV credit - nice.

I will probably keep Wii Music. I was debating between that and Cooking Mama World Kitchen. But I really don't think anyone is going to play that and it will get cheaper fairly soon anyway (making all the effort to get it cheap somewhat of a waste). I'd really like to get a few more DS games but it is really hard to find the fodder for that - even more so than for the Wii ones. I could get the AitD/Code Lyoko pair if I want another Wii game but that means a 30 mile round trip drive to the store that has them and another night of angry family members because of me running all over the place.

picked up a copy of bolt ps3 to get some more bbv credit, so thank you to the poster that found that one. unfortunately, the copy i grabbed had a holepunched upc so my trade will most likely get denied. the one bbv i trade at insists that a game has to be scanned in so they will not look anything up manually.

also hit up 2 bbv to take advantage of this crazy gs wii promo and had a very hard time finding anything to flip back. was only able to get a pair of games from each location. hopefully the other stores i intend to visit in the next couple days aren't as cleaned out.

Both games are very good. For 7.50 a piece you are getting two triple a releases from feb. of this year. There is a lot of meat to the games and for the price you can't go wrong. DO NOT TRADE IN! (Unless of course you hate fun...then you can trade them in)

Devil May Cry 4 is without a doubt worth it. I bought the special edition for $80 the first day it came out. Then again DMC and RE are two of my favorite series. Plan on doing the same for RE5. Also did anyone else have a problem with their BBV having good flips, but they were new games instead of used?

Well, you dont know if there's anything inside of it, or its possible to be swapped with something such as a blank cd. If you were to trade in a sealed game, I believe they open it up. Of course, if you do decide to do it, ask for the price before allowing them to do so.

Um, it doesn't look like you missed out on much. You found some stuff I couldn't find (particularly Samba De amigo - that is one they simply haven't converted around here).

I would say, though, that this sale is perhaps a bit better for keeper material than the perfect storm. So in that sense it is a better sale. A good portion of the flippables during the perfect storm consisted of Spiderman 3 and Spiderman Friend or Foe ;).

Here's what I'm keeping from this current sale:

:wii:
Ninja Reflex
No More Heroes
<Samba De Amigo if I can find it>
Sonic Riders Zero Gravity
Super Swing Golf Season 2

:360:
Dark Messiah Might and Magic Elements
Guitar Hero II
Spiderwick Chronicles

:ps3:
Armored Core 4
Devil May Cry 4
Genji
Grand Theft Auto IV
Lair
Pirates of the Caribbean
Untold Legends Dark Kingdom
Virtua Fighter 5

:ds:
Contra 4
Flash Focus

And I would have bought (to keep instead of flip) all of the following if I hadn't already bought them at much higher prices or beat them on rentals:

:wii:
Okami

:360:
Beautiful Katamari
Bee Movie Game
Bioshock
Bully
Cars Mater National
Eternal Sonata
Mass Effect
Orange Box
Ratatouille
Shrek The Third

:ds:
Brain Age
Nintendogs

:xbox:
Star Wars KOTOR II

:gc:
Mario Party 5
Star Fox Assault

and I'm still considering buying:

:ps3: Conan
:360: Dirt

but have passed on a few games so far because even at these prices I simply don't need more games to play that I'm not that interested in!

So yeah, laying it out like that the amount of games I got to keep (17 - and I probably missed some!), otherwise decent games that I would have bought to keep if I didn't already have them (at least 16), and the ones I'm still considering getting (at least 3 including Samba De Amigo) means this sale blows the last one out of the water in terms of quality of the selection. Just not in terms of flipping potential...

I've also given a few games to a friend of mine who isn't 1/10th as savvy as I am at buying cheap games and a few will probably go to my father for his new PS3 though I doubt he'll ever play them. Of course plenty have gone to Gamestop as well and I still have about 9 more left for that.

I'm also down to the lowest amount of BBV credit I've had in quite a while. I even decided to pick up a Prince of Persia at Gamestop using just the regular 10% off coupon since it may not last too long there (was the only one at several stores).

During the perfect storm the best acquisitions were stuff like Earth Defense Force and Virtua Tennis 3 (with the gem of the sale being Beautiful Katamari but I already had that). With the inclusion of Wii and PS3 games this time and the great many more 360 games that qualify this sale was much better for keepers!

Someone said two days ago that they would call in all the BBV TIVs for the $30 extra Wii games. I just read that entire thread and the last few days of this thread and didn't find it. I had class today from 12:30pm to 10:00pm at fau, but I would have called during my 1 hour break between classes instead of eating if I would have known no one called in the list.

I somewhat skimmed this thread for it so please let me know if I missed it. Maybe someone just posted that the games dont get much of anything at BBV, which is what I assumed to begin with. I was hoping there is at least 1 gem out of the bunch to flip at BBV.

I don't feel comfortable asking many local GS employees for a gift receipt because they know me and will know exactly what I'm up to. From what I've read it looks like there will be thousands of returns at GS for the same games at the same time. I suppose we can assume that there will never be another sale like this at GS ever again now. Probably wouldn't ever happen during a BBV B1G1 anyway, so who gives a fuck.

Wow, after reading that whole $30 extra Wii games deal thread I really wish i kept most of my titles.

$10 BB can get you "Are you Smarter than a 5th grader" along with $10 GS credit, FYE pays $12.75 cash or $16 credit for the game so it'd be like turning $10 BB into $26 credit.

I don't think anyone has checked - we're all too busy trying to find Wii and DS games at BBV to get the GS games first ;). I'm all for getting that list, though, as that is a more "legit" way of dealing with the flipping. However, I'm not sure it's worth it as then you are incurring more BBV trades (pushing you ever closer to the $10K limit) without getting that much out of it.

Berzerker - I'm with you, man. The stupidest thing I did was to trade a few Wii games in with the 3/$10 deal just a few days ago :bomb:. I mean, heck, you can get $40 shipped for Wii Music on eBay and I'd rather have done that with the 6 or so pairs of Wii games I traded last week for the $5 bonus.

Yes, the Collector's edition has the base game inside of it which has the UPC on the cover. I traded it with no problem (base game that is).

Aside from Bolt, there are some other interesting drops at GS that might make good flips:

:360: :ps3: History Channel Civil War $29.99
:wii: Barbie Horse Adventures: Riding Camp $19.99
:wii: Think Fast $29.99

These all just dropped $20, so depending on if they're available used, possible coupons, and TIVs at BBV, these seem like they might be decent flippables to move some credit back to BlockBuster

Ok so to summarize this just to make sure I understand it.
1. Buy two wii games from BB
2. Trade them into GS under the extra 30 promo (is there a min. tiv?)
3. Buy skate heroes city (or whatever it's called)
4. Receive ten dollars refund.
5. (Optional) Get a gift reciept.
6. Return a day or two later to a different gs.
7. Collect your twenty you spent on the game plus the ten you were refunded to get a total of $30 credit.

Sorry if the way I structured this doesn't make sense but it IS 5:00 am. Just wondering if I got it right. Preferably you'd want to get two 9.99 games from BB so the conversion would be $9.99->$30...right?

And not everyone here is in it to flip. As far as keeping them, it's not a bad deal.

Well you get $30 off a Wii game in addition to the TIV of the games from what people are reporting. So if you grab 2 titles with a $5 TIV then you're turning $9.99 -> $40.

1. Yes
2. Yes, min TIV-$3 or less not accepted based on the flier, so $3.01 min
3. Yes
4. Yes + the TIV of the 2 games, so $10, if 2 games trade in at $5 each, that's $10 + $5 + $5
5. I wouldn't do this, kinda shady to me, unless you give it as a gift
6. It can be the same one, as they all follow the same return policy
7. Yes, but you'd get your $20 for Skate City Heroes, +$10 (left over from the original $30) +the TIVs of the 2 games you traded in

Can anyone confirm that the price of Ninja Reflex hasn't changed in the past day? The employee rang it up as $19.99, but someone here said that it was definitely $9.99. I remember buying them at $9.99 weeks ago, but I wanted to make sure they didn't boost the price.

Zoids Assault TIV held at $28

I'm surprised that not too many people are trading these in as this seems to be the best flip(for me at least) it came out to only $14 each at gamefly, and after the tax from BBV I have now $61 from the two zoids.

Anyone know if BBV is going to get any edition of Street fighter IV? Would be great to use that to get the collector's edition, and some fighting controllers. Which they should get because they sold the previous street fighter ones.

I'm hoping to get to our local blockbuster(s) tonight or tomorrow to pick up some more titles for flipping. If I trade in my other copy of Cranium to BBV, which will put me at about $21 in BBV credit, I'll have enough to buy 4 more games for flipping. I've also still got a kmart copy of Nights Journey of Dreams to flip (I have 2, but one I'm keeping). So, with 5 flipping titles, I can pull off one more of the trade 2 & buy game - $30 deals and one of the trade 3 +$10 deals.

Anyone know if there will be another price drop on BBV's 19.99 games? I'm waiting for Ao2 to drop to 14.99..... I have a feeling it will sooner or later

I'll add to the confusion - I saw it labeled as $14.99 at a Blockbuster yesterday. It was definitely $9.99 when I bought it last week, but I bought it at a different Blockbuster. It could just be mislabeling. I didn't take it to the register to find out.

EDIT: I didn't realize that Ninja Reflex was suppose to be a fun game, just getting bad reviews for being way too short. Now I wish I'd kept it as at $5 shortness is fine. Oh well. If I see it for $9.99, this time I'll buy it to keep.

As far as the "perfect storm" thing goes, I think this one was better only because of the huge number of HWV flips that were available for credit or as a cheap buy-in. I started this run with ~$43 in HWV games (10@3.99+tax) and that was the only cash I put in. Did the GS-HWV runs a couple of times and then started including BBV and it just exploded. I even used the few VV's I got to pay for gas. Sprinkle in a few Wii Sports and GTA IV's on Ebay and I'm up way over $2k in cash, credit, gift cards and have a ton of Wii and DS games as keepers. Not a bad return on my investment - and this was done just casually compared to what some guys were pulling around here...

To be fair to all of us, none of us KNEW this deal was going to be happening. And the $5 bonus for Wii games was a great flip. This one just happens to be much better.

A lot of us wanted to do as much damage as possible in the few weeks where the $5 bonus was happening. And now we've kinda screwed ourselves over. It's not like we really lost out, after all. We made out pretty well with teh $5 bonus. ;)

Very true, of course. As futile as worrying about passing up, say, 100s of sealed copies of FFVII at stores a couple years ago.

Looking at the list, it appears there are some pairs left that I an snag.

I returned two games bought on that promo for store credit yesterday without a problem. It also would have been probably easier to just open the Ski game though as I think it trades for $5 and with the $15 bonus wouuld have netted the same $20 I got for returning it.

Gamestop Trade in Base Values

DS Narnia $4
DS My Fashion Studio $8 (BBV cost of $14.99(
DS Flash Focus $2.50
DS Ninja Gaiden $7
