I think I'm going to see what GH:WT gets for trade today, unless someone already knows. I got it at the Microcenter sale, but damn....the song selection kinda sucks. I think I'd rather put it towards money for RB2 drums...if I can come out even.

I called my local blockbuster 2 different times today and was told my 2 different employees that it is still in effect...going to go run down and pick up a couple things, will post how it went when I get back.
I was able to get the last two Wii games I had been meaning to go back and pick-up, but for the most part I would say this deal is dead. The CSR had to manually put in my discount. I asked and he said the store manager is keeping the sale going, but they only have some old crappy sports games left. I pretty much cleaned them out over the last few weeks.

Chill dude, not to be a jerk , but you sound like a 13 y/o math nerd, what you are saying dose not relay have much to do with math, or percents, what you are talking about a stores decision to give EDGE with other deals.
P.S. Adding the 10 to the 30 percent is the best way, other wise
$10 game* 40% edge and bonus = $14
$10 game*10%Edge = $11*30%bonus =14.30
10 game*30% bonus= $13*10% Edge = 14.30
so it is game stops best interest to add the percents together before they ad them to your order.
Okay, this whole side discussion has been cracking me up, so I wanted to share a story:
I was at a Macy's and saw a sign on a rack that said 50% off Clearance, price will be discounted at the register from lowest ticketed price.
I saw another rack that said the same thing, but below that was a sign that said 25% off Clearance, priced as marked.
Now, having bought a lot of discounted stuff before, I wondered if the 50% off was replacing the 25% off or if it was stacking with the 25% off.
So I come to the counter with an $80 item and ask for a price check and have this conversation:
Me: Can you tell me how much this costs?
Her: $30
Me: Great, I wasn't sure if the 50% off was taken after the 25% off.
Her: It's not. The 50% off is taken and then the 25% is taken.
Me: Isn't that the same thing?
Her: No, it is always cheaper if you take off the bigger percentage first.
Me: Oh, I thought multiplication was commutative.
Her: In this case, we're not multiplying, we're taking percentages. Trust me, I've worked in retail a long time and know how percentages work!
She was so happy that she got me a cheaper rate. I didn't want to spoil it with a mathematical proof or tell her that percentages were the same thing as multiplying by a fraction.
I did get shoes, pants, underwear, and socks though with a $100 Macy's GC from Blockbuster, so this is semi on topic!

I have an appearance for work later that is located next to my seldom visited blockbuster. I'm going to stop in and see what happens. My guess is that the B2G1 sale signs are still up. Seeing as how I'll already be in legal-mode, I should be able to convince them to honor the signs.

I was looking up games in the system last night and we offer 35 for Demonik and KOF MI 2.5 for the xbox360. Were these games ever released? I tried to look up info on Demonik and it looks like it got canceled. I cant find much on KOF. I see that there is a KOF: MI for the PS2 but not finding anything on 2.5. These are likely canceled games but if they exist I thought it may help.

Nope. no command in the BBV POS that will let you do this. There are commands that are only available to the SM in the POS (ability to print lists of inventory, tracking patterns, etc.), but not even those will let you do it (trust me... I tried for hours to find a way of doing this). Found a lot of other useful information as it pertained to running my store, but nothing that helps out CAG . Gotta do it the old fashion way and look up each individual title by name.

Warner is definitely right. I was doing a line by line search of each x360 game in our system. even then you have to open the game from the list to see the TIV and once you do that you have to start the original list all over. Its annoyingly tedious but I was bored yesterday.
Also, Warner, those commands aren't only available to the SM. I'm a SAM and I can access all of those. In fact I think that any MOD can access them as long as they can access the Managers Menu. There are some things that are blocked so only the DM can access them but you are right there are some fairly interesting details hidden away in the POS that most people don't know about.

Oh just something I noticed the other day. It seems Blockbuster may be wising up to games that usually come with accessories and trading them in. Eye of Judgement-PS3 now has 2 listings in the system. The first is the original that is the game with the accessories which is no longer accepted for trade but then there is a game only part number that is accepted for traded. I looked up Warkhawk-PS3 and the same was true for this game. I also looked up Lips-X360 just to see if it was reaching across platforms and we don't accept the game/accessory trade but there is no listing for a game only yet.
I know that this techincally doesn't prove anything on its own but this coupled with the plummet of Monster Jam X360 trade value leads me to believe that Blockbuster is actually trying to improve their trade-in system but I'm sure that at least for the forseeable future they will be two steps behind CAG. Blockbuster seems to be very reactionary and not proactive in this department so no need to go all Chicken Little on here. Just a heads up.

I believe blockbuster has a sliding scale of TIV based on the amount of inventory for a particular game, Since they probably received a plethora of monster jams recently, they've deciding they no longer need any more and they went ahead and lowered the TIV to an unnattractive price, I believe gamecrazy has the same system.

Went to a Blockbuster store today and they were still doing the sale. It was a franchise store though so they must have jumped on board and are just continuing it.
On another note. I had some credit and picked up Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe for $31.99. Seemed like an odd used game price.

Umm...no. There is no sliding scale (as of yet). Blockbuster's system is not that well developed. 99% of the time the quantity available for trade in is almost 998 or 999 for every game in our system, and prices are not based on quantities on hand. The only time I've seen this different is that Monster Jam the buyback quantity is down to one in 2 different stores so I'm guessing that might be across the board. Also, each stores systems are not linked, they are only linked back to corporate.

I mainly want an apology for being called a thief repeatedly. I don't expect to be reinstated as a trader. It'd also be nice if someone up top told all of the managers to, you know, stop calling their customers thieves. I'm not the only one.
It's a good thing for you, though, that your bed is at a sloped angle so you can roll out of bed instead of having to get up out of bed. Wouldn't want to put too much effort into things, now would we? ;)

There are some things that are blocked so only the DM can access them but you are right there are some fairly interesting details hidden away in the POS that most people don't know about.
There are 4 codes set up in the POS system. Under the employee maintenance menu (under the payroll option). There is C for CSR. This lets an employee do basic things. Then there is an A for Assistant Manager. This will let you do most things except access the DM menu, tools menu, or manually change price points on items. Then there is M for Manager. This will let you access everything except the DM menu. Lastly there is another letter (presumably D) for the DM which gives you free reign to fuck everything up if your heart desires. I know the DM can do a lot of fun stuff. He printed up a log of everything that was typed on a particular terminal one day just to show me he could do it and then accessed my employee info and showed me what my password was (what's the point of having a password if he can just look it up?).
The point of my babbling is that you most likely have an "A" assignment, which is good, since the few menus you can't access aren't ones you want to screw around in. I know one SM who didn't know what he was doing and recoded his entire stores library to a 99 cent rental. Nothing like an impromptu inventory to fix that mistake to make you feel stupid.

Should have mentioned this earlier, but unless corporate e-mail addy's are different than everyone else's, you should be able to type firstname.lastname@blockbuster.com and get the appropriate person. The only exception is when 2 people in the company have the same name, in which case I'm not sure what the solution is (middle initial somewhere I presume).

So I traded in Endwar today at my local BBV. Apparently it was my first time to trade something there, so that's good news so I can start to hit it up a little more often. Now this was a flip, as I paid $27.99 and got $32, but I also played it and really didn't like it.
And I asked if it was possible to put it on some sort of card or something, to which they were very cooperative and gave me a Wall-E gift card. It probably made them feel a little better that I used most of it on the game-pass. The achievement whore in me won the battle with the CAG in me tonight. :P

I hit up 4 BBVs today and was able to find Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, FF4: ROTSS, Ant Bully and Pirates of the Carribean: World's End for the Wii. FF4 is going to be paired with Skate City Heroes to purchase one of the $30 trade-in credit games at GS. I messed up and bought SCH w/o using the promo thinking I could flip it to BBV for $30 trade-in credit, but they wouldn't accept the game. I tried returning the game to GS, but they wouldn't let me because I foolishly broke the clear plastic sticker on the new, unsealed game. I'll end up losing $6 even with the GS promo, but it could've been worse. The rest of the games will be traded in using last Friday's coupon. Pirates and Tony Hawk trade in at $7 and $8, respectively, so it's not worth the hassle of trading them in for a Wii game and returning that game for only an extra $5 in credit. I think I'm done with BBV for a while unless GS comes up with a coupon or promo that makes me change my mind.

Oh, I forgot I had a story to share with y'all from tonight.
So when I go to trade in my Endwar, the CSR had to get help from the manager. The manager says, "Let's see how much you'll get for this..." And the CSR says, "I'll guess $20." I'm thinking to myself, "I'll guess $32." lol. So they see $32 and are both surprised. So I act surprised too and say that'd be great. So then the manager tells me about how during some sale they had the TIV for 1 game was like $15 more than what they sold it for. And he said, "Just think, if people had inside information, they could just buy and sell games from us and make a profit."
It was hard not to lol.

That's one of the few games out right now where you can make money on a GS to BBV flip. However, there are still a handful of games such as Prince of Persia, Endwar, Far Cry 2 (360), Mercenaries 2 and Oblivion: GOTYE (360) that are still good for 1:1 flips. With the Gamestop's Wii/DS coupon as well as the $30 trade-in credit promo, there are still opportunities to make a few bucks per game on BBV to GS flips.

haha never thought i'd see the day where flippers were resorting to 1:1 flips from GameStop to BBV!
I'm just being impatient. I accumulated a decent amount of credit from this B1G1 promo but not enough to get what I really want. I'm just looking for ways to make money (even if it's little by little) without having to resort to online selling/trading. Hopefully, GS comes out with a coupon or promo that allows us to make money on 360 games because there are still plenty of potentially flippable games at the BBVs in my area if the right deal comes along...
I got rid of the last Wii and DS games I got from the sale and didn't want to keep. That included one I was originally planning to keep but the now higher value at GS was too good to resist. That was Sonic Riders. Since it now gets $9, that's $14.90 with the coupon + Edge (and no return nonsense required). I also traded Flash Focus since I never found another DS game to do with it for the DS deal, and an extra Battle of the Bands, along with Octomania (which wouldn't qualify for the $30 off anyway). I got $41.45 for just those 4 games at GS - not bad for $19.50 spent at BBV during the sale. I also traded a Battle of the Bands/Alien Syndrome pair for Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? + $1.01 back on my Edge card ;). Gift receipt is in hand...
I am holding on to all my 360/PS3 extras just in case the coupon this week is for a $5 bonus trade-in on one of those. Somehow I doubt it will be though - they have no shortage of used games for those systems unlike for the Wii (all of the Wii games I traded in were not in stock at both GS stores I went to so they could certainly use them).
If the coupon is for something else, I'll get rid of the rest of those with the trade 3 get $10 promo. However, I'm really hoping the coupon this week is for 20 or 25% off used 360 games since the closest GS to me finally has a Last Remnant - the first time I've ever seen it used. I just want it to keep. They also had PoP for PS3, so a coupon there would be good for flip material.

I think some of the prices at BBV have changed, gone up! I may be way late to the party/thread and this might be old news, but I tried to get Okami and Bully today, they guy let me have the b1g1 deal since I asked him and he said it was still on, then he asked the manage why it wouldn't ring up correctly and they checked the sale sheet and told me it ended. Which I did not know since I haven't checked this thread in a week or so. But I think Bully rang up 19.99 and Okami 24.99. And they had some good games to get, but they also didn't ring up as 14.99. But those 2 are the ones I remember.
I had to settle for Dark Sector, fear, and a few other 9.99 games that I'll keep.

Just be careful with CSR's ringing up used games and telling you the prices are higher. I got Elebits and Sonic Riders ZG on Wii the other day and the guy tried to tell me they were $11.99 and $20.99 each - He was looking at the new prices. It took several prompts by me telling him what the prices should be before he caved and said "Oh, I suppose you're right"
And he was a dick about it the whole time. So that was awesome. It apparently must be easy to give someone the new price instead of the used.
That's kind of funny about how DMs can change so many things in the POS.
We need to get a CAG to become a DM so he can invite everyone over to pillage a few BBVs in sacrifice for his job ;)

Yeah, clueless employees are quite likely to just scan the normal UPC as if they were selling a new game instead of scanning the used BBV barcode.

haha never thought i'd see the day where flippers were resorting to 1:1 flips from GameStop to BBV!
Towards the end of the perfect storm I was actually doing flips where I lost money trading into BBV due to me scooping up all of the good flips. Since I was making so much credit when I flipped back to GS I was willing to accept the loss. I did get a Wii out of it. I did play that Wii twice. Really should've just gotten the MGS4 PS3. If I would've known that was the last PS3 with backwards compatibility I wouldn't be staring at the pretty white Nintendo paperweight sitting on top of my 360.

 lol I went on the original Wii hunt shortly after they came out and 2 months later I found one and the good thing is after about 2 months I hated it due to the wii mote controls on games other then wii-sports.. the best thing about it is that It was still so hot I re-sold it for exactly what it cost me with games/classic controller, and extra wii-motes so no loss on my part....

As annoying as they can sometimes be, you can see why GS puts the used UPC stickers right over the spot on the case where the regular UPC is. I don't think I've ever had this problem at a GS but it happens regularly at BBV. It can be a real pain when nothing is marked correctly to begin with (in terms of price).

With the Gamestop's Wii/DS coupon as well as the $30 trade-in credit promo, there are still opportunities to make a few bucks per game on BBV to GS flips.
mercenaries 2 is not a positive flip unless bought during a b2g1 since it only trades for 22 and sells for 27, so you are still losing. as with the other games they are all positive flips with the edge card and with the extra % off coupons and codes floating around, it makes it better.

One Monday when I went to a BBV there were higher prices on some Wii games then before, but now I'm having a hard time remembering specifics. I'm pretty sure one was Ninja Reflex, which was now $14.99. I don't know if that was just this one BBV with a higher price, or if that is the new price. Anyone else see that for $14.99?
Tonight I'm going to GS to trade in some Wii and DS games (DS games from personal collection, Wii games all from BBV b1g1 sale). Some with the +$5 coupon and 2 or possibly 4 of the Wii games for the trade 2 +$30 deal. I'm hoping to get a Wii Fit to keep and actually possibly 2 to keep (one for me and one for my sister), but I suppose that will be a lucky night indeed. If not I'll trade 2 for Are You Smarter or something else and do the return exchange later on for a Wii Fit or just credit, to later get a Wii Fit.

Ninja reflex was 14.99 new and 9.99 used last week I believe. I am 100% sure on the used price, and the new one I think I saw when they scanned it as new at first and I had to correct him. I could check my receipt if it is needed, but I would need to dig through about 20 receipts.
Another confusing issue is that I've noticed that many of the stores that set up the "up to 50% off" clearance section (on new games) use the same kind of orange price stickers normally used on used games for some of the weirder prices (I'm not talking about the orange ones that say "pre-owned" on top but the plain orange ones - which they sometimes use instead of the usual red/white new item price stickers). Then, of course, customers mix up the open cases between the new and used section (not to mention the rentals as well ) so I've often found used "looking" games priced with new stickers in the used section. I assumed these were just the new game dummy cases though. It gets pretty confusing when they sell new and used stock as disc-less original cases on the floor and don't have a clear demarking between new and used price stickers like GS does. (To their credit, of course, the new games actually get sold as sealed and it is just a dummy copy on the floor - wish GS did that!).

During the perfect storm, I had a girl try to convince me that timeshift (360) was 19.99 instead of 9.99 (or 14.99 -whatever it was a few months ago). Here's the catch, I was buying 2 of them at the time and the first one rang up correctly. Clearly she scanned the wrong bar code because they put it on the front cover of the case instead of over the UPC (gamestop style). The girl refused to change the price so I told her to void the transaction so that I could purchase only the copy of timeshift that was ringing up correctly. I was dumbfounded when she told me she did not know how to void the transaction because "they really don't like us to do that".

The incomplete thing, I'll never understand, but at least for scratched discs, they're *supposed* to actually ship them off to be resurfaced.
Unfortunately, many don't actually do that. Which means, yeah, they shaft the person who trades in the game and then shaft the person who buys it by giving them a bad disc for the same price as a decent one would be.
Selling opened games is a real dick move too. I don't see how a place like Blockbuster can get all this display boxes but a huge games retailer like GS can't manage it.

The PS3 version of Mercs 2 is just about a 1:1 flip if you purchase it from Gamestop using Edge + 10% coupon. 20% off of $26.99 is $21.59. Adding tax makes it come out to just over $23, and that makes it a 1:1 fip to BBV. If you buy the 360 version and flip it to BBV, then you're losing a dollar. However, like I said, if you flip Mercs 2 to BBV and find two $9.99 (or less) Wii games that can be used towards Gamestop's $30 Wii trade-in promo, then you can make $8 or more on the flip back to GS. I know it's a lot of work for a a double flip, but it is what it is...

The Gamestops I've been to where they sell new, unsealed games normally have only one copy of the game available to sell. That's one reason for selling new games unsealed. As for those stores that sell all their new games unsealed, that really is a questionable practice on their part.

I guess you could do that if you could find the exact same clear, circle sticker that GS uses. Of course, you'd also have to make sure you didn't scratch the disc from playing it.

Not to perpetuate the off-topic, but my local GS started using another new sticker, a black and red traingle the looks similar to the new edge card. It comes off easily in one piece and remains sticky. They used to put games in quick-seal bags that ripped when you opened them. A bit of a step back, if you ask me.

Traded 5 games into gamestop last night. Had a good laugh. the manager who I'm friendly with was there along with a newer clerk. Newer clerk took my trades. Gave him the four wii games and a ds game. I told him with coupon i should get extra $5 on each. He told me coupon says they have to be over $2 TIV and he didn't think there was much demand for Bee Movie or some of the other stuff I was trading. I told him we'll see. He said I'd at least get the trade 3 get $10 deal if they were lower.
Well, Bee Movie is up to $6 base.
Another find which I haven't seen posted is DREAM Pinball, got at Blockbuster during B1G1, was $9.99($5.00) gets $8
Got $56.90 for 5 games. Put towards my pre order of Legends of Wrestlemania. He said my balance would be $1.20, and if I wanted to pay it off and if I had enough on my edge card. Even the manager laughed telling him that I would have enough on edge to cover the $1.
Turns out I was owed a $1, since no tax using credit. He then added it to my edge card and saw my balance of over $300 and almost fell over.
He said he wouldn't say out loud my balance for my protection.
Thanks, Clerk.

It comes with a bonus DVD and the first volume of the Devil May Cry anime... so, three discs. Other than those and a plastic coverslip, I don't think it came with anything else. Depending on which version you picked up, the bonus DVD should come in a separate slip (PS3), while the anime always comes in a separate slip.

Download your favorite movies, TV shows, and music, and bring it with you.
With full Internet access, the player's Opera browser plug-in offers Adobe Flash support, which lets you access and enjoy YouTube and other Web video sites on your Archos device. By using the player, you can view and post YouTube videos wherever you are with an active wireless connection. In addition to downloading media straight from the Archos content portal, you can stream and watch videos from your home PC or laptop. For added video playback versatility, the player is compatible with MPEG4, AVI, and WMV video files. The player features robust music playback features, too. On-board music file playback capabilities support MP3, CBR, VBR, WMA, protected WMA, and WAV files.
You are going to need some kind of hot spot to get online though. I found this info at Amazon.

You also have to buy a $30-40 plugin for the Opera Web Browser. I got it specifically for flipping since GS all are WiFi hotspots now. It's decent if you want a 4GB media player that can do video, pictures, music and the web.
The plugin is $30 at archos.com (3 other plugins are $20 each) or you can buy 4 plugins (including web access) for ~$40 on ebay...search "archos plugin"
(and before anyone asks...the plugins can't be "downloaded" off the internet. These are features already built into the Archos. You use your product/serial number to unlock the features)

It was $99.99 when I got it 2 weeks ago, plus the $37.90 I paid for plugins on Ebay. It sounds like you are wanting to use it for the same reason I got it, so it's a decent buy for that. In larger cities this will work for hotspot jumping, but there aren't many where I'm at. I bought it mainly for the video capabilities. Picked up a couple 16GB SDHC cards for more storage. Plan on TV, movies, etc. so my kids don't fight over what to watch on the portable DVD player when we are traveling.
Also, I picked up the DVR dock, works great as a 2nd DVR w/ Dish Network (only records SD though and can only transfer SD recordings from the Dish DVR).

As I've said many times, I'll throw my hat in the ring for the archos. It does have a few down points, but features/cost ratio still makes it a great buy for me. The screen resolution is INCREDIBLE, and sound quality is great. Yes, there's not much memory built in, but I like having the SD card for expansion..they're so cheap now. The DVR dock is cool (I have it); may not be able to record HD, but a cool thing I found is that I can 'trick' it into recording On Demand movies and TV shows from my cable box, so that is nice! The internet can be kind of slow, but again, it's not any slower than using the data connection on my T-Mobile G1, and sometimes it's a lot faster...and that screen resolution!

Alone in the Dark: Inferno 24.99 ($2 price drop) > 26
With coupon and edge it brings it down to roughly 17.50 > 26
Mercenaries 2 26.99 ($8 price drop) > 23
Coupon and edge roughly 18.90 > 23

Alone in the Dark for PS3 had a pricedrop. It's 24.99 and trades in for 26. Not bad. If Hail to the Chimp held, that's decent too because it dropped to 14.99 and trades in for 16. There's also some other price drops I'm going to call on and see if they work for us or not.

20% off PS3 games coupon. So what do we have to trade back to BBV?
This is before discount and coupon.

Prince of Persia 34.99 > 32
Endwar 34.99 > 36
Anything else?
Legendary and Endwar are both down to $32 as well.

Depending on the TIV of Fracture, it might be a decent flip. Last reported value was 23. Currently being sold for 29.99 ($5 price drop) so with edge and coupon brings it down to 20.99
Another one with an old TIV, 01/04:
Quantum of Solace $44.99 ($10 price drop) > 36
With edge and coupon 31.49 > 36 (again if TIV held from January 4)

problem is I just have no use for BBV credit.. even if it is cheap..
Pre-Ordering with them sounds sketchy at best, and they only get big titles. I've already got SF4 CE paid off at GS (doubtful that BBV carries CE)
I probably will just hold off on the flipping unless it's for cheap Gift Cards or something, with the B1G1 over.
Unless anyone has ever seen BBV have Tomb Raider Underworld for sale? I haven't, but it's the only thing I'm looking to "buy" right now.

Yeah, I hear you. The only thing I'd think about buying is a used copy of Mortal Kombat Vs DC for 32.99 or however much it is. Not worth it since I can wait on a GS coupon.
But I do want an archos, so I think I'll try to snag some of these games and get some trade going. I only need about another 80 dollars, so it shouldn't be too hard.

I finally tested my second BBV account today and it has not been suspended, so my avenue for GC price matches is still open. So if I wait long enough to visit the other stores the suspended account should drop off, and I can start using the other account. I was considering just handing them the other BBV card and acting surprised when the trade flag was not set, but the managers know me too well. Sucks having an english accent as I stand out.
Maybe I f I go the route of having the other account canceled I can more easily explain away the need to redo the trade agreements...

Yeah, I'm in no hurry to get BBV credit right now. The only thing I could really use are some Macy's and Subway giftcards. Maybe AitD because I think that was more common, and I can probably pick some up on the store near my office.

I think your math is off for Legendary and Alone. Stetson also did some conversions a few posts up:
Alone trades in for $26 BBV. $24.99 GS 20% coupon + Edge ~$17.49. Net - ~$7 after CA tax.
Legendary trades in at $32. $26.99 GS 20% coupon + Edge ~$18.89. Net - ~$11.50 after CA tax.

Edit - Hmm, I suppose there is one thing I could do - has anyone ever successfully price matched at GS using a coupon? That is, I bought Legendary and PoP within the last 7 days (from tomorrow). Could I have the extra 10% from the coupon applied just by bringing in my receipt? It isn't much, but if i'm up there anyway I might as well try. Checked a couple of Stetson's games:
Fracture for PS3 dropped to 20. So that's not a money maker really. But Quantum of Solace held at 36, so you can make a bit of coin there. Flips seem godawfully horrible. I mean, you're making money, but you're very limited in options. I am getting ahold of a Legendary and Prince of Persia, so I'm happy about that. As ets mentioned, my calculation was based on trading both games in together. $7 + $11.50 = $18.50, which puts it in the $18-$19 range that I mentioned earlier. I apologize for not being clear about that. Anyway, if I could find both games used in my area, then I'd definitely do the flip. However, since neither are in my general vicinity, I'll have to pass on doing any PS3 flips.
But there'd be no reason to be doing the PS3 flips unless you're going in for gift cards, an Archos, or something else you really want.
I'm not looking for gift cards or the Archos. I'd like to get a few just because the B1G1 sale depleted my BBV credit down to about $100 which is the lowest I think it has ever been. I feel like I'm broke ;). I want to build it back up slowly in case there's another good sale in a few months - so 1 or 2 games per week using the GS coupons is a good pace. (Plus I have way more GS credit than I know what to do with)
Io, ive never had a problem with a return/rebuy at gs (only had probs with new returns with this 2/30 deal).
Yeah, but without having the games? Like I said, I have one (PoP) but not the other (Legendary). So I know for sure I can do that for PoP, but before when I've done this sort of thing they want something to scan, and they can't do that with Legendary.

Yeah, same here. I kept getting drained and drained at BBV for credit because of the B1G1. Plus the banning didn't help manners any. I'm going to adopt the same method as you-- this week will be for building up Archos credit and the next coupon will be to get 70 dollars or so in credit to build up for the next B1G1 free or any other sale. I'd like to be at around 500 dollars again like I was before the B1G1 and the Vanilla Visa cards. I just don't know how much flipping I want to do if most of the games are "Break even" or "make three dollars" kind of games-- it just seems like a waste of time to get the cake without the icing. But, BBV credit is gold to me when I'm boosting my game collection with the B1G1 free, so I don't mind doing a few flips here and there (depending on how long my girlfriend stays compliant; she seems sympathetic enough though)
And yep, you do not need the games to be able to get the adjustment. I've definitely done it with receipt only. They just pretend the games are there or enter in the SKU or something. Point is they can very easily do it. I'd figure the only ones who'd make you bring in the games are the assholes or the people that don't know how to do the process.

They can also stick it on any of the re-loadable gift cards they have. One store I was at had ran out of the "Value Cards" so they just put the money on one of their "Spiderman 3" gift cards.

Just what was the Cellfire coupon?
Cell-phone only coupons - there were two. One was 20% bonus trade-in on any 360/Wii/PS3 game (maybe, or did it include everything?), and the other was 20% off any used game.
They were very nice to have when the weekly coupons were all over the place. Back then the weekly ones were usually 25% off so they were a bit better but with Cellfire you didn't have to wait for them.
In other news, what the hell Blockbuster? I went in just now hoping to rent Lord of the Rings Conquest with one of my last (and soon to expire) Coke Rewards free rental coupons. They didn't have it, and of course it says Friday in the computer. But to make matters worse, THEY HAVE NONE on order at my store! WTF!? That seems like a perfect rental game to me (Star Wars Battlefront type play with LOTR characters - was hoping for PS3 version so my kids could play online a bit). Just to be safe I'd better call back tomorrow though - watch them actually get it and rent it out while I think they aren't getting it. That's how goofy BBV is . If not, I guess I'll have to drive the 16 miles round trip to find another store than might have it (but will probably be rented out when I get there).

I think I'll buy prince of persia to keep (for 25 bucks I think it's worth it) Though I may end up changing my mind and taking it back to gs/trade it into bb. I normally would jump on legendary but I think I'll save my credit to flip something closer to a 2x flip. Killzone 2 is little whiles away so I hope an oppurtunity comes up.
I always tend to buy big new releases at BB with the credit there. That's probably why I didn't have a lot of credit for the b1g1 this time around.

funny how much more people are interested in the archos now that the b1g1 is over. i have also decided to get an archos instead of an ipod touch like i originally planned. the archos supporting sd cards and simple drag/drop convinced me id be happier with the archos. the only real plug-in im interested in is the wifi capability, but for $38 on ebay you get the wifi along with 3 other plugins i believe.
i only have $32 left in bbv so ill need to resort to a pop, endwar, and alone in the dark flips to scrounge up enough credit.

Yeah, I bought a budget portable DVD player a couple of years ago, and it's good enough I guess. However, the thought of being able to have a device that stores 40 movies and displays them at a much better resolution than my portable DVD player is very enticing.
However, I'd still like to know what accessories are needed to download movies and music from my computer's hard drive to the Archos 605. I'm assuming a USB cable is all that's needed, correct?

Uh, yeah so I picked up pop tonight while I was out finishing up my wii trades with the coupon (I was going to return/rebuy w/ coupon) and man this game is the definition of the word mediocre. I think I'm just going to return it to gs in a few days (we'll see if I can even get through it first) since the flip ratio is barely decent.

Its $99 now. Thats what I paid for mine last Friday. Who knows it might have went down by now.
Is this price for the 4GB or the 30GB version? If it's the 30GB, then I definitely need to get one of these if I can find it at one of my local BBVs.
It doesn't sound like the 4GB Archos is worth it for me since I want to be able to store movies on it for portable viewing. That includes watching movies on the Archos itself and being able to connect it to a TV when I visit relatives out of town. Not having to carry a case full of DVDs would be fantastic.

Cell-phone only coupons - there were two. One was 20% bonus trade-in on any 360/Wii/PS3 game (maybe, or did it include everything?), and the other was 20% off any used game.

Well, depending on the audio codec of your dvd rip, yeah, you'll need the plug-ins. The Cinema (MPEG-2, AC3) and the Podcast (MP4, AAC) plug-ins really open up a lot.
I've never seen the 30GB in BBV, but the positive side of it only being 4GB is that the system is flash based, while the 30GB is hard drive based. This will make your Archos a little quicker, and less prone to failure. Seriously dude, if you're considering the Archos, $99 in BBV credit for even the 4GB is a STEAL. Just supplement yourself with these, and you'll be fine.

So the Cinema plug-in allows you to play content from your Archos on your TV? Also, how many full length movies would I be able to store on a 16GB SDHC card? Finally, if I passed on the SDHC card for now, what would be the best use for a 4GB Archos 605?

You will need one of the three docks, if you buy the plugins off ebay, you will get the web browser and 3 different video plugins.
Regarding docks:
DVR Dock - charges and has DVR capapbilities. The TV Guide is free for the first year, then $20 / year thereafter. - $60
Mini Dock - charges, plugs into TV (more portable than DVR dock) - $25
Battery Dock - This is what you want if you don't want DVR features (you may want to get it even if you have the DVR dock). Plugs into TV like mini dock and charges. It is also acts as a second battery when you leave it attached to the Archos (i.e. you unplug it from the wall but leave it attached to the Archos) - $35
You may want to check this (http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=11050) before buying SDHC cards (some work, some don't) I purchased (2) 16GB Edge SDHC Class 6 cards from Office Depot (I had a rewards card to kill) and they work fine

It took two calls because the first call got sidetracked by the person I was talking to into a discussion on whether or not they put credit on a value card and then she handed me off to a manager who told me they don't give trade-in quotes on the phone, so I had to call a second store. But anyway, here are a handful of trade-in value updates for Blockbuster (all PS3):
PS3
-------------------------------
Blacksite Area 51: $16
Unreal Tournament III: $9
Viking: Battle for Asgard: $13 (listed as just "Viking" in the OP)
Sega Superstar Tennis: $9
Dynasty Warriors Gundam: $23
EDIT: FYI, none of these are thus worth flipping from Gamestop via the 20% coupon.

I'll have to keep my eyes out for that. I missed out on both the Toys R US and Circuit City clearance sales, and it's still $39.99 at GameStop. For some reason, it's jumped used to like $50 on E-bay and Amazon.
OK, thanks for the info. I'm assuming that all the docks you listed allow you to view Archos content on your TV, correct? Also, the battery dock is basically a mini-dock with a built-in battery, right? Thanks again.
Yes, all docks will plug into a TV. You do not need the plugins to watch it on your TV. The plugins give you codecs so you can view various file formats on your archos. If you rip a dvd to to a dvd-r, you have .vob files. You will need a plugin in order to view it on your Archos. Otherwise, you must convert everything (to .avi or .wmv I believe).
If you don't want the DVR, then I would recommend the battery dock if you can find it. Then grab the plugins off of ebay and you are set. Also, if you have a Dish DVR, download the Dish plugin so you can transfer shows from the Dish DVR to the Archos (in SD only). Keep in mind that Dish charges a $40 fee to enable USB storage devices.

I really just want it for the DVR capabilities. Going on Disney Cruise in April, and my step daughter and I both have Ipod Touchs, my wife has laptop, my little ones could use a distraction. They try to play DS Lites but I end up stuck helping play Fashion Designer or My Baby Girl.

Hmm...so you get an extra 8GB for about $8 more, but would also have to swap out cards more often. Seems kind of a toss up to me. I can't wait until the 32GB cards come down in price though. It's incredible that they can now put that much storage on a little tiny card. That was a decent hard drive just a couple years ago.

Good advice on the SDHC cards. Based on that thread, it seems that MOST SD cards work fine. There were a few name brand problems (Kingston, Sandisk), but it really seemed like most of the problems stemmed from people buying crappy cards (ExtreMemory). The main reason I pointed out that 16GB Transcend is because that's what I've got...and it works :)

I checked one of my local BBVs just a while ago, and it didn't have the Archos 605. Interestingly enough, it did have two 40GB PS3s available for $360 each. I know you can get an 80GB PS3 at Dell.com for $340 ($316), but I want to stick to using store credit if possible. A used 40GB PS3 sells for $350 used at Gamestop, so it might be worth saving enough BBV credit to get one of them new for $10 more at BBV. Better yet, it might be good to build up some BBV credit for a possible price drop on one of those systems. I doubt too many people would buy the 40GB PS3 for $360 if they can get an 80GB system with twice as much memory for only $40 more. I'll have to keep my eye on the 40GB PS3s at BBV in case BBV decides to slash the prices on them. I can always upgrade the HDD anyway for cheap if I need more memory...

Your store was actually selling Mercs 2 for $20. I wonder if you were at a franchise store because the TIV for Mercs 2 is $22-$23 depending on the system. However, it wouldn't be the first time that BBV sold a game for less than it traded for...

I was actually able to find an Archos 605 at two different stores. One of them even had the battery dock. I'm going to have to think long and hard about whether or not I want to pick one up. If I could find used copies of Legendary or Alone in the Dark in my area, then this would be a no-brainer. As things stand, there really aren't many other PS3 games that are worth flipping even with this week's GS coupon. I might have to look at some Wii and 360 games to flip using Edge + 10% coupon. I need about $150 in credit to get the Archos 605 and battery dock. It's going to be hard to come up with a decent flip that will net me that amount. I guess I'll wait until next week once the new BBV TIVs come out to see what I can do. Otherwise, it might be better to wait for (hopefully) a 20% off coupon for 360 games next Friday. Dang it. I can't make up my mind about the Archos 605. The PMP and the battery dock will cost me $150, and the best GS to BBV flip I can come up with involves trading in Prince of Persia, Mercs 2 and Endwar for the PS3 along with Oblivion: GOTYE and Legendary for the 360. Trading in those games would get me the Archos 605 and battery dock. However, I'd only make about $32 on the flip, which is better than nothing, but that's a pretty poor flip for $119 worth of games. I could save a little cash by getting the mini dock instead of the battery dock. The Archos battery dock has gotten mixed reviews, and it might not be worth spending an extra $15+ dollars for something that gives as little as 20-30 extra minutes of battery life although others have reported an extra battery life of 2-3 hours.
If that was all I needed, I think I would bite the bullet. However, I'd still need to spend an extra $70 for plug-ins and an SDHC card. In the end, the Archos 605 is going to end up costing me at least $200, and I don't know how easy it will be to make that money up through flips. I think I need to focus on trying to get what I really want first (PS3) and see if the Archos 605 is still available down the road.
Stupid fucking Blockbuster - no Lord of the Rings Conquest today either. What, they don't like having stock in for their customers to rent? WTF!?

that is weird Io, they had the game out at the store I just left.
THe Archos battery docking station is tagged at 24.99 at bbv.
i grabbed the system, but am not going to go all out unless I find that Im in love with it. If not, there are always ways of unloading it.

I called a bigger store 8 miles away and they don't have it either. Meh...
I wish I could sell them my copy...but it's got that friggin 'not for resale' UPC (from a bundle)...:bomb:
GS sure has no problem reselling these games!
My suggestion is to tell you to neatly cut that area off of the case in a little square. When you bring it to trade in at BB, tell them you needed to take the UPC for a rebate. Traded several Alone in the Dark Wii doing that. Only had a problem getting it traded at the really awful BBs around here.

Some GS TIVs (will post in GS Thread as well)
All games I picked up last night from a Franchise BB using a B2G1 they had on... All together dropped 52.xx last night.
Orange Box (360) 7
Spiderwick Chronicles (360) 7
Devil May Cry 4 (360) 7
Bully (360) 10
Eternal Sonata (360) 9
Madden 09 (360) 22
Mercury Meltdown (Wii) 5
Fantastic Four RotSS (Wii) 5
After bonuses (including Wii $15) it came out to 119.24. Then I picked up Are You Smarter (using the deal), put down $10 towards the Sonic Collection, and then bought a 120 GB hard drive for 74.19 after tax. Giving me 3.26 remaining from the transaction.

ok, just have a couple questions about the Archos, hopefully some of you that have bought it can answer me. I have read every post in this thread that had the word Archos in it.
-Only the 4 gb is $99.99, except for in Dallas, where the 30 gb was $99.99 with a $25 AE gift card, is that right? I know of a store that says they have the 30 gb, but it's at $149.99, which is more than likely the case. I read a post where someone said they use to be $99.99 but they went back up to $149.99.
-Are the 4 GB and 30 GB both 605's?
-Has anyone picked up a 30 GB one, and if so, it doesn't have an SD expansion slot correct?
-Would I be better off paying the $50 extra bucks for the 30 GB, since 2 16 GB SD cards would run me $50 anyway (granted I'd have an extra 6 GB this way)? Or better to hunt down the 4 GB, use SD cards, and not have to deal with possible hardware failure, since the 30 GB is hard drive based, and the 4 GB is flash based?
-The completionist in me says that I'll probably end up picking up all the accessories. I just wish the guy selling the plugins on ebay took BB or GS credit.
-In regards to the Wifi speed, someone said it's a little faster than dial up on a broadband connection. In your experience, is it slower or faster than an Iphone on a wifi broadband connection?
Thanks in advance guys.

1) Buy a copy at GS with the regular bar code
2) Swap the covers
3) Trade in to BBV and return to GS
4) Profit!

The 4gb is still 99.99 (just got it an hourish ago).
I would also buy the SD cards since you can use them for non archos purposes as well.
The wifi seems slower than my moto q's net.. but the hotspot im at isnt full strength.
Personally, this is an interesting toy.... but absent the dvr dock... Im not entirely sure that this is something I dont really think Id keep since I own a portable dvd player that I can mod to play divx movies on CDRs.

I've done it with no problems. Just keep your receipt. They can just type the SKU from the receipt.
Thanks dyeknom for your input

No you are fine as long as you have the receipt. I have done this many times with no problem at all. I always tell them I hate video game stickers and peel the ghastly stickers off of everything out of habit as soon as possible.:D

So, I called a dozen stores in Atlanta - none have the Rock Band 2 drum kit.
Wait...I take that back. One did. The $299 version. Uhh, thanks.
Debating whether to trade it into GR and hope that they get MLB 09 on a reasonable date and buy my drums elsewhere, or trade it into GS for $20 (nothing lost/gained) towards the drums. I know what the answer should be (trade to GR, get the drums elsewhere), but I hate having credit just waiting around.

Stupid fucking Blockbuster - no Lord of the Rings Conquest today either. What, they don't like having stock in for their customers to rent? WTF!?Not even that, it's insulting for the clerks to have to push for pre-orders still, when they never get the dang games in on street date. It's insulting to the customer, too.

Because they are idiots. They DO have the games in. What they don't have is the dummy boxes out on the floor. They probably haven't even put the games away yet. Most Blockbuster employees don't know where they even have their new games stashed away(which is USUALLY in some remote corner of the store that no one goes to) so they never know what games are in. My store had the game behind the counter but didn't have them out today. Stupidest thing ever.
Edit - Just so I can save myself here... There is a SLIGHT possibility that they don't have the games in, but more than one store not having it in is just not right. Best bet is to walk in there and if you don't see it out on the shelves, ask the CSRs up front. Ask the manager if you can find him because the manager is usually the person that knows what they received.

The 30 gb's have only been seen in Dallas and went back up to $150 according to this thread.
They are both 605's. I think there are a bunch of different 605 models ranging all the way to 120gb
Im pretty sure the 4gb is the only one with the expansion slot.
Personally I think you would be better off with the 4gb since its flash and with the 30 being hdd based you are looking at failure like you said.
To me it looks like you would really only need the DVR dock and the battey add on the other to accessories look useless to me.
I haven't really had time to try out the wi-fi but I don't think it will be super slow.
Not even that, it's insulting for the clerks to have to push for pre-orders still, when they never get the dang games in on street date. It's insulting to the customer, too.
Street date? Try ever (my store still hasn't gotten Animal Crossing despite my preorder). I gave up long ago on preorders after that and won't even consider doing them there - even for their "featured" stuff.

I asked yesterday when the old GR dude was working and he said none were even on order - FOR RENT even. Then Friday I went in to be absolutely sure and even asked if they had unpacked everything for the day and they said yes. They had only gotten some candy in that day. When I called the other store the person I talked to said she herself had put out all the new stuff and it wasn't there. I don't know how much more I can do than that to be sure - they don't have it at those two stores (the closest 2 to me).

Did they accept it with the do not resale barcode? Or did you print a copy of the cover with a bar code on it?
And I know this comes up every once in a while. But where can you get a covers for games online?
