I got rid of my Aerosmith game only by using that briliant idea of printing a UPC and taping it over the NOT FOR RESALE. It worked like a charm-- good thinking, guys! Ran into some trouble with Beijing 2008 (I originally picked it up for myself, but it sounded like bunk, so I figure I'll dump it and pick it up when BB has it super cheap) But, the manager at this location was supersmart and knew what to do right away.

I went to another store with Smash Court Tennis... and a cock who shall remain unamed and needs a pole shoved up his peehole went on some tangent about how "As long as he worked there, he has been told not to take games that don't scan in" and literally ignored me as I asked him to look up the game. Learned today that GS cannot sell you more than 1 copy of a game. This is store policy according to a store manager at a store that refused to sell me multiples of wii sports. What kind of company has its employees turn away business.:roll:

on another note, sucks being banned from bbv. i remember spreading 6+ copies of a game to the 6 different bbv i traded at. building credit was so much easier. i seriously want to get some vv so i could use them to buy some target clearance games. first time i looked at the clearance section in months and saw all kinds games i would've bought if i had a vv. ill finally get my first vv in a couple days tho. i hired a stripper to flip some games for me.

It was a pricing mistake on Blockbusters part.

So I felt like I had to try to redeem myself so I stopped by again and it was lower than I remembered - it was priced at $29.99. I picked it up and went to the checkout line and it did scan at $59.99. The manager sold it to me for $29.99 since it was marked that price... but I imagine theres really no chance anyone else will have that luck.

Sorry for any time wasted on looking for this non-existant deal. I should have just assumed it was too good to be true. or that their employees make mistakes.

I walys get tax added to my credit, I traded in Conflict Denied ops for 360 last night, they gave me the $15 TIV + $1.05 for the 7% tax, so I got 16.05 credit for the game.

I think that is the exception rather than the rule. This topic comes up like clockwork every few months in this thread. The bottom line is that it varies state-to-state. The only state I've ever been to where they added tax to trade-ins was Virginia. Yet in neighboring Maryland they didn't. They also do not add tax in Arizona (from personal experience) and California (from reports here). And I guess Florida too from a recent post.

Really, though, what they should be doing in those states where they don't add tax is not taxing you when you make Value Card purchases. I mean, the point of the Value Card is to store trade credit and trade credit only - just like a Gamestop Edge card. Then as such, purchases with it should not be charged sales tax just like with the Edge card (though even that varies state-to-state, however it is more often than not the case that you don't pay sales tax when using the Edge card).

Yeah, the thing is I already did that with another copy a week or two ago. I bought 2 SST/Arcade compilations during the last B2G1 because there was really nothing else to get. I took one to a BB where they looked it up no problem and the other to GC to save any potential hassle (and also to build my GC credit back up after it was nearly obliterated by the HWV $3.99 sale). They are always amazed at the prices I get from Blockbuster and are happy to do the price matches, but I really don't ever want to do duplicates there. I did so many games when they had the extra 30% boost (I price matched 5 or 6 different ones at once which I've never done before) that I just need to stay out of there for a while ;).

I'll swing it by the other BBV that usually is good about looking stuff up. If they don't take it, I may try my local store again. Once again I forgot the Singstar bundle but the clerks' heads would have have sploded if I tried to hoist that on them, so it was just as well. I mean, it took them 20 minutes to trade in Smash Court and decide to reject my SST. I will definitely swing by with that tomorrow and hope the manager or ex-GR dude is there so I can get at least one of those traded in before Monday.

Did anyone ever confirm that Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit trade at BBV? I called several stores and they couldn't find it in their system, earlier in the week. I've got loads of them here, but I've held off because the value couldn't be confirmed.

I know it's not a great flip, but it's at least even and good for rounding up to that next visa with B2G1. Plus being filler for B2G1 with Legendary/Oblivion. Buying those three at $26.99 plus edge plus B2G1 evens their cost out to $16.19 each.

I live in NJ and the closest BlockBusters are in NY for me, as it's only about 10 min away(20 on bus), so I can go trade in at NY and get 8% added on to the trade value, put it on a value card, and then come back and use the credit in NJ?

I don't see why not. I'm assuming you're talking about being close to NYC, the sales tax added there is 8.375%. A value card is a value card, so it ought to work across state lines. I've only ever used mine within NY, though.

I don't know the current price, but the reason people can't find Burst Limit, especially if it is the GS edition with a different UPC, it is because it is in the Blockbuster system as DBZ instead of Dragon Ball Z. If you call, tell them the to look up DBZ: Burst Limit.

I've done that on occasion, but it is usually much smoother if you bring a trade receipt. The best thing to do, though, is to get a printed trade quote from Blockbuster. I mean an official quote - YMMV on the Blockbuster employee knowing how to do that but it is an option when they scan games to check prices for you. That way you aren't bringing GC a receipt showing you already traded the game in to Blockbuster, which may seem odd to them. The guys at my local GC are pretty cool, but I have seen them look funny at some of the actual trade receipts that I have used. It's always good not to give any potential Junior Detectives something to think about :lol:.

I've always thought paying no sales tax made flipping much easier, but if you are actually getting tax added to BBV trade-ins then you get even more money even when using cash flips from places like Target or Kmart. That is pretty amazing... If GS doesn't charge sales tax on Edge card purchases then you make out even better when going GS->BBV.

There should be no problem at all doing that. As I said before, I've traded at BBVs in VA, MD, and AZ and had no trouble using that credit at any of those places as well as at home.

The PS3, original, bundle with Mics. It's simply called Singstar. It has a red package and the cover has some douche in sunglasses on it.

The only other PS3 versions are 'Volume 2' and 'Abba', both of which are newer and I don't think are sold with mics at all but I might be wrong.

Yesterday was a pretty nice haul...stopped by ONE GS and grabbed ONE Monster Jam (360)..and traded in a bunch of stuff i got from Amazon deals to BBV to find myself with a grand total of 4 VVs and still about $300+ BBV credit left :-D

Then, since traffic was terrible, decided to stop by a goodwill to waste some time and to my surprise i found a fat PS2 sittin on the electronics shelf for $7.47..and it came with all the cables and an old PS1 controller (still a dual-shock one tho). It wasn't supposed to come with the PS2, but i convinced the lady up front to let me have the whole package for $7.47..and since i already have a ps3 im def either going to give it to the g/f (since she was with me at the time and she might want it) or i might trade it in to GS if they still got that $100-trade-in-ps2 deal.

And my HWV will FINALLY be gettin a shipment of games in (OT yes i know but still) either today or tomorrow..so that will really make my weekend if i can find some GS flippables and even some ebay flippables (prays for Pikman 2)

Yeah, that's pretty much how it works for me. They add tax to the value of the trade-ins, then tax get charged when I buy stuff (obviously). At GS, trade-ins don't add tax to the value, but no tax is charged when you make purchases using that credit. That's essentially the same as getting tax added and then later charged. So no matter what, a $10->$20 flip is a 2:1 ratio, before or after tax.

I don't think I've seen any of the keypads... I know I've seen the bluetooth headset. I'm wondering if maybe Gamestop had some sort of timed-exclusive on the keypad though.... Amazon's listing says it comes out the 15th, but I definitely saw them in Gamestop last time I was there.

You can return games to any Gamestop. It doesn't have to go back to the one you bought it from. Though, YMMV on being able to return/rebuy with the B2G1.

back from my trip. Singstar got me 36 bundled so can confirm that. I opened everything and then put it back in the package and took it in. Went much better then I was expecting. The manager lady was actually very helpful as always.

Also did not have any problem trading in DBZ:burst even though it had the big DVD included banner on the front as mentioned above.

Trying to even out my 54.99 3 game list for the B2G1... One for myself (Little Big Planet), One for my cousin as xmas gift (Smackdown vs Raw 09) and a third filler in that I want to use just to trade back to Blockbuster Video for maximum possible credit (which is $36 to my knowledge) All the $36 dollar trade in credits from the first page (Legendary, End War, ect) are not near any of the stores around me. Any suggestions as to games that will get that $36 dollar trade in credit? Am I safe to assume nearly all newly released games should have that trade in value?

Flipped 3 copies of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition from GS B2G1 sale and 3 copies of Golden Axe: Beast Rider from Amazon to 3 different BB's and got $183 for all of them, also picked up 2 more VV's.

Hey, yeah, where is Capa? I'd be interested to see what he's been doing since the VV cards showed up. And kunai too - he sent me an XBL friend request a few months back which I accepted but I haven't heard anything from him.

Remember he was the one breaking up BB Value cards into < $10 gift cards so he could cash them out (via a CA state law). I can only imagine what he has been doing since all the gift cards showed up :rofl:. If you are reading this kunai, send me an XBL message and I'll let everyone know.

Anyway, I don't know why I hesitated on buying Wii Sports online. I still have gobs of GS credit and I am spending all this (real) money getting my home theater set up. It was pure stupidity for me not to order at least a few to get some cash back. I sold the one I found in store the other day - at least I got a bit more for it then that I probably would now with all the influx of GS copies on eBay ;).

So, I went in to my local store and one of the cool employees was there. I STILL got denied on the SST trade-in though. He said one of the employees there wanted to trade the same thing (the SST game from the Arcade bundle) and even he wasn't allowed. Apparently it is a new policy at BBV that they do not accept games without bar codes of some sort. I asked if they take games disc-only any more and he said no. However, he took my Singstar bundle no problem - and, of course, that has no bar code ;). I still had the packaging in the car so I could have gotten it if he had said the same thing applied. I think maybe it had more to do with the SST disc being part of a "not for resale" bundle perhaps. Though, again, that makes no sense since that only applies to retailers breaking them up and selling them apart from the console in new condition. Once it is a used game the "not for resale" thing doesn't apply.

Edit - Hmmm... I can't find a cover download for Oblivion GotY edition. I'll have to try that one disc-only (at a different BBV). Wish me luck.

Actually I did about 2 hours of research on the netbooks (while in class) and came to the decision that the EEE PC and the Aspire One are almost identical in cost and features. Only reason I took the Acer over the Asus was that I know lots of people with Acers and none of them have had a problem (and none that have Asus stuff) so that was the one thing that set the two apart.

I noticed in the comparison videos that are all over youtube that the Acer starts up faster, but thats not the biggest of deals, and that the keyboard is slightly bigger on the Acer and now that I have it infront of me it took no more then 2 minutes to get adjusted to it (from a regular keyboard).

All in all either one of the two are great options, the thing weighs almost nothing and takes less room in my backpack then a textbook.

I've searched the Sears thread, the GS tiered thread, this thread, and the last BBV thread and can't find where someone posted the TIV, but i remember seeing it.

The GS tiered thread shows that amped gets $6 and that each mic gets $3, so its $6+edge+coupon=$8.10 +2mics = $14.10? So amped is $1.97->$14.10 at GS?

Has anyone tried to trade these ps2 bundles at BBV with the bundle UPC like the PS3 version? BBV doesn't give shit for last gen titles, but maybe they give more for bundles (if the bundles or even the games themselves are in the BBV buy back value database.) The ps3 singstar goes from $16 to $36 when you go from game to bundle.

What a disaster.

So I go the mall after work to capitalize on these deals. On the way there it starts snowing some. There was a tragic lack of flippables between the 2 Gamestops, so in the end I got :360:Oblivion GOTY, :wii: Alone in the Dark, and DBZ Burst Limit from one. I picked up Zone of the Enders the 2nd Runner, Rogue Galaxy (both for myself) and :360:Monster Jam. I suppose If I ever decide to, 2nd Runner seems to sell on eBay for enough to cover its cost. The 10% off coupon wouldn't stack with my Edge card either.

So when I finally go back out to the parking lot these's seriously like 1.5"-2" of snow on everything. The entire region has been turned into an ice rink. I managed to slog my way over the interstate but when I tried to tackle the hill to get to my home things really began to suck. I got past one of the killer turns only to find the traffic stopped as the police had closed the road. So I'm parked for like an hour untill people finally start moving again. It's still slick as heck. I make my way up most of the rest of the hill to the second killer turn. This one I know i have to take with gusto to make it up, but low and behold a car is stopped coming down the hill (This happens to me every time) and I have to slow down so as not to slide into them. Needless to say I loss momentum and simple can not make it up that turn. Much to my chagrin, everyone else is making it past me (as the didn't have to slow down for a friggin stopped car, or maybe my tires secrety suck). I get as far as I can but I finally give up, park my car by an apartment dumpster and hoof it home.

Flipping is sucking for me thus far, I just know right now that when I attempt to cash out with VV's I'll end up running into trouble.

For those of you having problems getting cards with gift cards. I did a multi-item purchase today and the cashier didn't even pay attention to what I used.

Lesson for me: Get the money put on a value card, Do a multi-transaction sale later w/ a VV and use the gift card. I sense a lot of people are trying to do VV transactions and game trade in the same transaction.

I agree I would really love to keep track of clearance posters on here. I would gladly volunteer to keep an updated list, but none of the BBVs around me ever keep up with poster drops. When I visit a far away BBV that happened to keep up to date with poster clearances, that's when I find out about them.

I already bought 1 when it was 24.99, but I'm sure it will hit 14.99 and 9.99 if you can wait and have an abundant supply around. Let's put it this way - I got significantly more than $31 for the 2 I've sold the last few weeks so I think it worked out. Someone else said they only got $27 shipped which I think is an indication of a spike in listings due to the GS online availability. It is really hard to count how many there truly are since you can't search on a UPC and lots of things says "Wii Sports disc" (and other variations) in them (like most Wii auctions). Either that or regular auctions really are that much worse than BINs ;).

I picked up 5 (FIVE) bundles (3 GH:Aero for $30 each, 2 GH III for $40 each) today with absolutely no problem. 1 is for a friend of ours who I called from the store and asked "Would you like GH Aerosmith for $30" and she promptly said yes. This is a family that just got a 360 a month ago or so and she was asking me all about the different music games just recently. She shops a lot but doesn't get nearly the deals I do (at least on games and such) so I'm sure she is stunned by that price. A second is for my brother-in-law (Wii GH III). Then I had originally bought a 360 GH:Aero for my son since he keeps bugging me about that. We rented it twice and I played it all I could stand, but for whatever reason he likes it alot. But then I thought, heck, we really don't need a third Xbox guitar no matter how cheap it is, so why don't I get the PS3 bundles and then he can play them in the new setup I'm making upstairs? He can do that while my other son plays the Wii or 360 downstairs. So I ended up getting both PS3 bundles so we can have 2 PS3 guitars. It actually isn't the cheapest option since later at Blockbuster I saw that GH III for PS3 was $71.99 (and considering cheap BB credit I'd be better off getting them there. EDIT - correction, the GH:A bundle is $72, GH III is $53 apparently!). HOWEVER, there is the whole Vanilla Visa issue, which brings me to the BBV portion of my night...

So I decided to take another Singstar bundle, my SST with a reprinted cover, and my coverless Oblivion to another BBV after striking out COMPLETELY on flippables at the 2 Mall GS stores - seriously, they had nothing, including the Oblivion the web site showed in stock (surely sold during the busy day - Mall was packed). The Singstar bundle worked out OK - this time I brought the packaging in and they scanned it after initially telling me they don't take hardware. They ended up keeping it but like my local store they said they had no idea how they would package/sell it. I was hesitant to trade another in the same area as they may compare experiences and see that they both got this odd thing in on the same day - but then I remembered these are different districts, so that's unlikely. The SST also worked fine with the new cover. But they refused to take Oblivion because, once again, they said they needed a bar code. And since this is a different district than the store I went to earlier, word must be getting around about this new policy I guess. Unless I can find a GotY cover to scan I'm going to have to return this puppy to GS. That would be a shame, really, though.

So, once I had all that credit on my account I bought my second Vanilla Visa.

Oh, I used the first one too - though I wish I had the second with me when making all those GH purchases - they were too big for what I had left on the first one. But so far I've gotten a few things I couldn't get at BB, or for a cheaper price: a coax cable for my new TV (to plug in the cable - kids were harassing me about that today ;)), a surge protecting power strip (also for the new TV), a couple of Beatles posters (for my son since he put up with all my flipping stops tonight), and a Blu-Ray copy of Cars (on sale for $19.99 at Best Buy). I figure I'll probably make the most appropriate use out of these cards by getting stuff like Blu-rays on sale at places like Best Buy and Fry's (or even Amazon). That way I'll feel like I'm stretching those Blockbuster bucks a bit further (as the same movies there would be $35 or whatever).

thanks. GS thread says "singstar mic - $3" so I didn't add anything to the mic TIV in my calculation (i forgot about edge tho). I just added $3 for each of the two mics. I also wasn't calculating with the 10%/20%/30%/ deal, I was using the 25% extra Trade in Credit coupon (I don't have 5 things to trade in cause GS wont take multiples).

Back to the Best Buy Guitar Hero thing... Man, I should pay more attention to my own thread. I had no idea the PS3 GH III was just $53 at Blockbuster. That kind of makes a real cash purchase of $40 at Best Buy seem like not such a great deal, especially since I didn't use the VV on it :-k... They just scan the VV and the total ends up being the value of the gift card + activation fee. For instance, a $100 card would total out to $105.95 ($5.95 activation).

The "entertainment cards" are CLEARLY a "product" being sold and one which BLOCKBUSTER is making some sort of profit on so they are CLEARLY permitted.:D

Updated TIV post. This thread moves fast! Originally, I was going to head out to get some games, but I'm sitting on about 550 dollars of credit. I think I'll just hold off-- and try to get rid of that damn Smash Court Tennis. I've got plenty for Christmas shopping... and I'll probably save a little under half of it for the B2G1 free sale. That damn Ninja Gaiden for DS is always staring at me. I'm so paranoid that I won't be able to get it during the sale that I'm thinking of just picking it up for 6.99.

I finally traded in my last Oblivion GOTY edition. While I was there they had a USED Boom Blox for $19.99. Picked that up. It was in a generic case, but had the cover art and manual. I asked if they had any spare Wii cases and she gave me like 4 of them. Now, Boom Blox is like new....and I can use the others for Wii Sports and Links Crossbow...yeah!

I'm up to about $450 in credit now. That is after buying Boom Blox and a $50 Macy's GC. I may get $100 VV to hel ppay for more gifts for XMAS....I always feel the crunch around the holidays. Way too many people to buy for when you are married.

BB has Starbucks cards also, correct? If so, what increments? I need a $10.

It all depends on the games, you could go to Blockbuster first and just tell them you wanted trade in quotes, then go to Game Stop and see how they stack up. Blockbuster should print you out a little trade in quote receipt.

For those that are having trouble buying VV using gift cards or value cards, here's a suggestion that has worked twice for me when I bought $100 VV. Take a game to trade in and pick up a VV on your way to the cash register. Tell the cashier that you want to trade in the game and to put that trade-in amount toward the VV and you'll pay for the rest (don't need to say how). Keep an eye on the card reader and once you see the trade in credit has been applied toward the VV, discreetly (and quickly, if possible) slide your Value Card or gift card and select gift card on the reader. If you have enough money on the card to cover the remaining balance, the whole thing should go by pretty smoothly with most employees.

The trade agreement you sign states up to 2 per title per system, BUT anything more than 1 of a title per store can lead to problems. Some get "banned" from individual stores and some get banned district-wide by DM who sense something suspicious. Now some say they've been able to lift a ban by going to corporate, but my practice is just to trade as low-key as possible.

It seems like you've been banned because they think you're stealing the games you trade in.

All you really have to do is call the DM or even talk with the store manager and explain that you bought all your games. Make sure you bring some receipts if you have to.

You can also explain to them that you're buying games for cheap and then trading them into BB to make credit. I've told all the cashiers that I go to about it and they're ALL cool with it.

I guess I've just gotten lucky. I've bought 3 cards total since they came into effect. The first one the manager actually laughed and said it was a great way to cash out with credit, and the other two actually asked if I was going to use a value card to buy the VV.

I've been trying to not buy too many, since I want it to last, and splurging is just going to make corporate more aware. Plus, I want to save some credit to use for the B1G1 to flip to GS, since I was unable to find anything more than a 1.5:1 flip for the HWV sale, and used a bunch of GS credit for this last B2G1

I recently ditched 3 singstar bundles at 3 different stores. (with help of my lovely girlfriend, reducing suspicion by trading on different accounts)

I've also had no problems using gift cards and value cards for VV cards, or with cashiers taking AitD soundtrack edition or Smash Court Tennis 3. I do appreciate my luck.

Having a secondary flipper is so nice.. you can trade in more multiples than one person could without the suspicion and such. Having 5 stores around me to trade to helps too. She helped me out today to get a VV for herself to use for christmas gifts.

What type of coordination could you possibly be thinking of ??? At some of my BB's, at least three to four ppl trade, it's comical somedays to hear, "this is a popular game". Actually now I think about it, both me and the Asian were trading at the store at the same time, a copy of a game did not have the barcode, but his did and I actually suggested to the clerk, he scan the other guys game :)... I think the singstar bundles could raise suspicion though. Most of the time the people don't even take notice of what I'm trading in. If you asked them an hour later I highly doubt they could tell you what games I brought in, BUT the singstar bundles definitely leave more of a lasting impression.

Actually, trading is discretionary... so regardless of what the trade agreement says you can trade (the number), the managers, district managers and corporate all have discretion to exclude you from trading :(

I think you have to buy 2 $50 amazon cards, as one $100 apparently does the $1 pre-authorization and will decline it because you only have $99 available then.

D'oh - was gonna suggest the receipts thing as that seemed to sort of work in my case (though I never did actually show them). I also was never able to talk to the DM - but the manager I was dealing with wouldn't give me the number. She just said she'd talk to her herself, which took forever but in the end it worked itself out - I'm not quite sure how though...

Wow, so I have hit up 3 GSs in Grand Rapids, MI today and I am very disappointed in that it looks like every store has been hit by a flipper. There wasn't a single viable flipping game at any of the three stores. I was devestated to see this. Hopefully I can find something at 2 more stores tomorrow.

I bought the Cars blu-ray last night at Best Buy for $19.99 but went back today and got it (and Ratatouille) for $17.99 after using a Reward Zone coupon. So I returned the $19.99 copy. It looks like it just went back on the card, but I thought that wasn't possible. I guess I'll check the balance and see what's up.

If it does work, then make sure you keep those cards even when you use them all up, just in case you need to return something!

OK, checked online and it did not credit back, though my purchase from today is showing, so I have like $8 bucks left now.

But it appears I will get the credit eventually. Here's the info from their FAQ:

If you are entitled to a refund for goods or services obtained with your Card, you agree to accept credits to the Balance on your Card in place of cash. The credit will reflect on the Card within 30 days.

Note: Any credits that exceed the face value of the Card may be declined or take up to 30 days to process.

Hopefully it doesn't take 30 days. Really, I don't see why it takes any time at all as returns on normal cards show up right away. Well, hopefully it really only takes a few days. No big deal as long as I get it back though!

Looking at the fine print, it seems that whether something can be returned on the card is up to the merchant. Also there's a note that credit may not be added to availiable balance for 7 buisness days.

From past experience with pre-paid cards(Not VVs) the returns usually take 24 hours or so. I don't see why it would take them over 2 days.
