I guess it wouldn't hurt to call, did anyone else call and get a straight answer? i have one or two local blockbusters and i am going in with high expectations, i would love SMG or something of the sort.

Yeah - unless you get a clerk who knows what's going on you might get some confusing answers like I did from that first store. I'm pretty sure the second store had good stuff though - they told me 3 bins of $9.99 clear-case games, so I'm pretty confident that one will be good.

Anyway, what the hell am I doing here? With these wonderful "winter" hours I need to get out now!

Went to about 4 stores today (I'm fortunate to have a bunch of stores on my way home from work) and one of them had a bunch of Xbox 1 games for $2.99, another had some PS2 games for $4.99.

Phone quote from GAMESTOP 2/12:
:wii: Mario & Sonic At the Olympics - $17

Enjoy - took me 4 calls to get that as the first 3 stores all said they don't give phone quotes :bomb:. Guess where my business goes?

Anyway, now I really regret not picking that and SMG up at the store I was at yesterday . With the new coupon those two would turn $19.98 at BBV -> $54.40 at GS

I stopped by two stores to check out the deal.

The manager at the first store still had all of the games in boxes that he received last night.

This store had only received XBOX 360 games nad he told me that all of the games were previously rented and were sent from a warehouse that stores excess games that are no longer rented.

He let me look at the shipping manifest:

Halo 3
Fear Files
Sega Rally
Devil May Cry 4

There was another 10 or so games but nothing that really stood out.

He claimed he had talked to the manager at a nearby location that had gotten a lot more games for the XBOX 360 as well as the Wii.

He said the bigger the store the more games they would receive.

The next store received a bunch of PS2 and XBOX games.

The PS2 games were 6.99 and the XBOX games were 2.99

I remember seeing:

Black
The Guy GAme
Star Wars Republic Commando
Baldurs Gate 2

Of course all games were disc only in a clear case without any instructions.

So it appears to be hit or miss on what your store may receive.

According to the manager I spoke to the stores are required to have the games displayed for sale by Friday morning.

I went to 5 BBVs today. Only found this sale at 2 of the 5. Found 1 SMG, but not much else. The clerk at the store where I found SMG commented that she picked up a bunch of Wii titles yesterday when their shipments came in. So, it looks like this is going to be a tough go, with many stores never hearing of the promo and the ones that actually have the games already being picked over by employees. Oh well...it's the thrill of the hunt I guess.

At a couple of the stores that didn't have these games, but had the Presidents Day sale flyer posted in-store, I questioned what the 'up to 70% off games was on'. They both pointed me towards the new games for up to 50% off. Pretty lame...hopefully they just hadn't received their shipments yet...they just seemed to not know what was going on...but that's par for the course at BBV.

First store had no 9.99 games but their used wii section is full of disc only at regular prices. Pretty shady.
Scored at second store:
Cod4
Super Mario galaxy
Mario & Sonic Olympics
Legend of Zelda TP

Next two stores were a bust except for $3.99 copy of High School Musical 2 I got foe the kids.
Hannah Montana life size standee was $4.99. Was too creepy to buy that without kids me.

I got COD4, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Army of Two for $9.99 each. I also found Mario Party 5, Mario Party 7, Paper Mario: TTYD, and Harvest Moon: Magical Melody for $2.99 each. The DVD deals are worth checking out as well; I got mint (the DVDs aren't resurfaced) copies of Persepolis, Hellboy, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and 28 Weeks Later for $3.99 each. The DVDs all included the original case artwork.

I think I'm going back for SMG, the one I saw had a few scratches even after resurfacing, but it wasn't that bad.

OK I tried two stores earlier and they had nothing. Tried a third store on the way home and finally scored. I picked up COD3, COD4, and GHII. I also saw Army of Two, Farcry, NBA 2k7 and a few other games (only 360 games).

The manager said the shipment came in only for 360 games. He had no idea he was getting the shipment. Might check a few more stores tomorrow.

My brother found plenty of Wii games here in SoCal. He picked up SMG and Mario & Sonic Olympics for me and got SSBB for himself. He said there was another copy of SSBB, but he didn't realize I wanted it. He'll try to get it for me tomorrow. If he's not able to get it, then it's not a big deal since he was able to find the other 2 games for me.

OK, just a few quick questions... Are thr $9.99 sale games enclosed with a security shell thing (whatever it's called), or are the boxes loose and the employee manually gets the disc from "the Back" (assuming that's where your Gamerush regularly stores it's games - the implication being that you'd have the option of choosing a better-looking copy if the latter, making it sort of like all copies of the game are on sale.)

And is there going to be an official "end" of this sale (when games would go back to their normal prices)?

was at my BB when they opened at 11 and i asked the manager if they had gotten any in, so he handed a large cardboard box to look through...while there was a few madden 08's and NCAA football 08's and the same crappy stuff everyone else was listing. All of these games were in the standard xbox cases with cover art and manuals. Must be one of the lucky ones.Only game I picked up was a complete GOTY oblivion at the bottom of the box :)

Nietzsche - BBV corporate supposedly did not send any cases for the games to the store... so the stores are generally using a clear case with the yellow security stripe in it. Some stores started the day they got them, others are waiting until today or this weekend. It's only supposed to be a short time, but I'm sure it will be perpetual until they sell their titles.

No idea on dates or anything, but the two BBs I went to both had the games in seperate bins/racks in clear cases so you can see the disk inside the case. They have some yellow plastic strip on the sides to prevent you from just opening the case. Hope that helps you.

I've seen several Mario and Sonic...guess I should go back and see if they are still there

I don't know what's going around here h2dk, but read on - you had MUCH better luck than me that's for sure...

So, I went on a 3 hour, 50+ mile round trip to hit up 5 Blockbusters today. Yeah, I'm jealous of those of you with that many within 2 miles as it takes that much driving for me to hit up 5.

Anyway, as I suspected I think they were mixed up at the first store. They claimed the disc-only stuff they got in this week was in one of the bins with all the other "$9.99 and under" stuff but it was kind of hard to tell. They had a lot of disc-only games in there but nothing great and they all had the yellowish BBV-printed covers and were not in the clear locked cases like the other stores (to answer your question, nietzsche74, these games come from corporate in pre-locked cases with the "prepack" bar codes already on them for easy sale). So perhaps they "gutted" the ones from corporate so that they didn't have to put actual discs out on the floor. She insisted they repriced those this week but that makes me think they weren't really the disc-only ones because those don't need "repricing". Anyway, she did call another store for me and they did have them but hadn't put them out yet.

So, on to store #2 where I get first pick - hooray! Unfortunately they had ONE small box of 360 games and all I got out of that was a CoD 4 and a GTA IV. Why the hell did I buy a disc-only GTA IV for $9.99 when I was used to getting them complete for $7.50? I don't know - I guess it was the sheer disappointment of not finding any other good stuff (in particular, no Wii titles for the GS coupon). Anyway, they also had Simpsons and a few others I can't remember.

So I head to the next store where they have NONE. I ask up front and they say they are expecting some but haven't gotten them yet. I don't know if they were BSing me (and just hadn't put them out yet) or what, but they seemed pretty sure they weren't supposed to be sold before President's Day.

Then I was going to just head back to the store where yesterday I STUPIDLY passed up SMG and Mario and Sonic Olympics. But first I made a little side trip (10 miles out of my way) to one of the larger stores in the area. They, too, had not gotten the shipment yet but were expecting it and knew what I was talking about. They, in turn, called another large store that was nearby and were told the same thing.

So finally I rushed ALL the way down to the store I went to yesterday that is the only one so far out of 7 that has had both 360 and Wii games in stock from this sale. They only had one SMG left and I managed to snag it right before they closed to end the otherwise total waste of a trip on a somewhat positive note.

So, yay, I have one game to trade in to GS with the coupon .

I guess I'll have to keep calling these other stores to see when they get their shipments or plan to put them out.

H2dk - I don't know how or why all the stores around you got so well stocked when the large busy stores up here have gotten nothing yet.

By the way, I ran into the store with possibly the crappiest hours I've ever seen. It was the store with the 1 small box of 360 games. Get this, their "winter" hours mean they close at 7 PM Sun - Thurs. Amazing...

No. Did the cases have the little white bar code strips that they put on used games, or did they ring them up by looking up the game name in the computer? If it is the latter, they'll get whatever the normal used price is for those games. Note that the disc-only PS2 games should be $4.99 and the disc-only Xbox games should be $2.99 if they are part of this sale stock. Frankly I'm surprised any of those games would ring up near $30 even if they were mistakenly ringing them up as new! This isn't a franchise store by any chance is it?

The games specific to this sale should be in clear plastic cases with yellow lock strips in them and no printed artwork - even of the generic Blockbuster variety. The case should be tagged with a typical "pre-owned $9.99" sticker (the orange/white/blue deals) and have a white Blockbuster bar code strop that reads, for example (looking at the CoD 4 I got tonight): "X360-PREPACK POG W/O COVER ART".

I'll post a picture in a minute since there continues to be much confusion over this sale!

Went to a store and asked about the sale, and just got blank stares and something about how there had been a B1G1 a few months ago (as if I didn't know this). I am really not sure what they were trying to tell me. The stupid thing was that I am pretty sure on the counter RIGHT BEHIND THEM I saw a couple of boxes that contained exactly what I had described to them. I even said it was probably a shipment. I couldn't push the point further without being rude, so I just left. I hate Blockbuster.

edit: I even explained to them about the clear generic packaging. I am not confused about what I am looking for

they rang up 30 all together (all three in one transaction) so they were ringing up as 9.99 each (the price people are saying xbox 360 and wii games should be). they were in the clear cases with yellow strips inside i remember that cus i tried opening one and it wouldnt open (and saw the yellow inside). yes they had preowned 9.99 stickers. I'm almost certain i remember them having barcodes on the back and her scanning them like that...and like i said, these were not at this store a few days ago, i also noticed a few other changes like the 3.99 dvds. but no xbox 360 or wii games for 9.99.

yeah...im confused. maybe just a weird store lol. but i had no problem picking up a bunch of games during the b1g1's.

Oh, believe me, I know how frustrating it can be dealing with a typical "duh" BBV employee.

Anyway, for everyone's sake here's a pic. Inclusion of the giant cat in the sale is YMMV:

(stupid imageshack is embedding ads in the images now )

Anyway, the key thing to look for is that little white bar code sticker which says "X360-PREPACK POG W/O COVER ART" or something to that effect. See - the whole "prepack" deal indicates to me they are shipped to stores this way (in the clear, locking cases). I actually just noticed that part of it and it makes sense with how I've seen them unbox this stuff.

And, once again taking a closer look at these three games which in the store lighting looked absolutely mint and unplayed I can now clearly tell they were all refurbed. But man, they have a damn fine refurb machine there at BBV corp! ;)

Yeah, last time I had him weighed he was over 18 pounds. And he's gotten fatter since then ;). (For those unfamiliar with cats, typical cat size is 9-12 pounds). He's a very solidly built cat though - truly big-boned. His leg bones, for example, are easily twice as thick as my other male cat's.

I am tempted to get Bioshock, Oblivion and GTA4 for the 360 but I prefer having the original case, artwork and instructions. At $9.99 I guess it can be considered a rental instead of something to add to my collection.

IO -- I haven't been as lucky as it might seem....only one of the 5 stores had COD4 or Grid, and it only had 360 games. The store that has at least 3 copies of Mario Olympics (only decent game) only got 15 or so Wii games. My local store only received Xbox and PS2 games (priced at $4.99). The "big" store that was supposed to have 3 boxes ended up with less than 30 games. (The only luck I had was the store that included inserts and manuals).

Tomorrow I'm going to hit 3 stores (with 2 kids in tow) and get a better idea of what Wii games are available (I know there weren't any SSBB or SMG)

I'll give an update tomorrow afternoon

OK, it would make more sense to have the discs IN the cases so you know what games you're getting :dunce: For some reason I was imagining them as being sold with the generic blockbuster sleeve (as we all no doubt were thinking when speculating whether the "no-cover' games already in stock were part of the sale.) But I'm just curious whether they'd let you exchange a defective $9.99 game for a "full priced" used copy if it ever came to that; on the one hand, I'm sure they'd still have to follow their used games guarantee policy, but on the other they'd be indirectly including stock as part of the sale that wasn't meant to be...:-k

Big boned. I use to say that about my sister till she lost a bunch of weight. She was never big boned. Your cat is fat Fuck.

No, that's why I said "truly" big-boned. His skull is big, solid, and robust and nearly twice the size as that of another cat we have. He is a little on the fat side too, to be sure. He used to be a lean desert cat living in the urban fringe in Tucson, AZ and had to fight off coyotes and the like (we were feeding him outside and eventually had him trapped and kept indoors when we had to go away for a few months). His "natural" weight is probably 16 lbs or so, but as he's gotten older and more domesticated he's gotten softer - as most of us do ;). Anyway, enough off-topicness...

nietzsche74 - I'd say it is pretty universal that Blockbusters will be getting these games at some point. Between h2dk and I we cover 3 districts and at most stores within those districts they have either already gotten them or know they are coming soon. The key thing seems to be that a lot of stores haven't gotten them yet but expect to in time for the President's Day sale. In my case, it seems the stores in one district have mostly gotten them while the stores in another have not yet at all - and this district includes the bigger/busier stores that I would expect to get bigger shipments. So I would keep checking over the next few days. It is a difficult thing to call about because the unattentive employee will simply refer you to their usual assortment of disc-only (mixed in with complete) regular used game stock. You really have to ask for games in clear cases that just came in for this weekend - and then you have to hope they had something to do with processing them or they still won't know what you are talking about.

Didnt find any games at the BBV that I visited today, however, a nice selection of 3.99 dvds. Suprised to see more popular titles like Star Wars and Indy, not the usual sub par movies you see. However, the store put up a 5/$20 sign and everyone who went into that bin walked away with a multiple set of 5 dvds. I just shook my head and took up the 3 that I was interested in.

No go at the Encinitas CA store . I do think i saw a fellow cag however . He was a husky gentleman who asked about some games behind the counter . It was great hearing the BBV employee trying to pronounce Onechanbara

Heh. Isn't it an ingenious sales tactic? One that works all too well. It's interesting to see how obedient people are. My wife is the same way. When we're shopping she'll see something on sale for like 10 for $10 so she'll pick up 10 of them and put them in the cart. I usually glare at her and put 5 of them back.

I haven't flipped lately and I know that BB slashed the TIVs... I was just curious as to what one or two good (right around a 1:1... Even slightly below) just so I can score a few 9.99 games to flip back.

Nothing at 3 BBV's around here. one store admitted to having the games in the back but were "not sure" when they would put them out, maybe Monday.

Ask for "Presidents Day sale with cheap games with no cover art."

I broke down and flipped a couple copies of Legendary and Cranium to BBV to get $60 in credit, and then checked 4 BBV for the sale. Only two of the locations had any titles, and the first one only had original XBOX games, while the second only had about 15 Wii games. The Wii games were the $9.99 variety in the first place, but I did snag Mario & Sonic Olympics.

I'm going to check around at a few locations on my way home from work today too to see if I can eat up the remaining balance of BBV credit I have. From the looks of things, it's going to be slim pickings in Phoenix.

Last night my local BBV did not have the Presidents Day sale stuff out, but I asked and the guy said he was getting the stuff together and was verifying when he was suppose to put it out. I don't understand how this could be so confusing for them, but there you go. I asked if I should come back tomorrow (today) and he said yes, so I'm going to check again after work tonight. It will truly be amazing if BBV can stay in business much longer.

Oh, believe me, I know how frustrating it can be dealing with a typical "duh" BBV employee.

Anyway, for everyone's sake here's a pic. Inclusion of the giant cat in the sale is YMMV:

http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/3086/bbvgamesyl0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/bbvgamesyl0.jpg/1/w700.png (http://g.imageshack.us/img144/bbvgamesyl0.jpg/1/)

But man, they have a damn fine refurb machine there at BBV corp! ;)

I got all the wii games i want now i looking for Call of Duty 4. You lucky bastard, lol I'll check out another BBV this week & hope i hit bargin bin again :)

Last night I went by 2 stores that had no clue and no product out. Went to a 3rd this morning and, while they had no signage or anything, they had the 'special' games mixed in with there normal "clearance" table. The prices were marked and there was indeed that "w/o cover art" barcode.

Nothing too exciting for me though. Bioshock and GTA4 were there, but I have those already. I only noticed Xbox and 360 games. No Wii games to be found. Will check another later.

Happens all the time, they might not buy all of them, but they pick out a lot of the good ones, luckily I found a store yesterday that didn't do that, and picked up Mario Kart (50% TIV coupon at GS does not work for Mario Kart ! or at least that is what the ad says) Wario Ware smooth moves and a few other 360 games, left some too.

Just called my BB and a well informed female employee told me that they are doing the sale today. She even asked if I was looking for anything specific and she would look for me. That was nice. Too bad she said they only got in about like 10 Xbox360 games and like 10 Wii games. She said they mostly got a crap load of PS2 games. Oh well. I'll go check them out anyway. They were listed as preplayed $19.99 with half off. They both came with the case and book. I had to open 3 Oblivions though. Only one had the GOTY disk in it. Central Virginia (Chesterfield, VA) are getting UPS shipment today. Hit up 7 BBV too early. I went to the Hull Street / Brandermill Location and the cleck had no clue.

After I left one, I sent my friend to pick up GTA 4 for PS3. When he got there the same clerk told him a box of used merchandise just arrived. He called me back and I hauled A$$ back there.

I picked up

:360: COD 4 - 9.99
:360: Bully - 9.99
:xbox: KOTOR 2 - 2.99

They let me go through their whole shipment. No Halo 3 at Brandermill and Iron Bridge location only recieved XBOX 1 titles. Just be nice and ask for a recent UPS shipment of clear case games. One clerk repeatedly tried to shoot me down saying the other store made a Mistake and Call of Duty 4 is only $24.99 (oh well).

All I am missing is Orange Box and Street Fighter 4 and my collection is complete.

I've been all over the great city of San Antonio today, driving for about two hours and visiting 6 different Blockbusters (and finding out the locations of places that USED to be BBV thanks to my GPS). I went to the first store and saw the signs for "2 for $15" rentals which actually isn't a half-bad deal considering most stores around here jacked their rental prices up to $8.99 per game. Unfortunetly, the only BBV around here running the "2 for $15" rental deal is the one that never has any good games in. It's always awkward for me to just leave, so of course the girl behind the counter had to ask me what I was looking for and I told her about the games. Her manager came over and knew what I was talking about. She said that her store didn't get them but she knows one that did and promptly called them on her cell phone to double check. Sure enough, the manager there had just gotten the shipment in and didn't even label them yet, so I would be the first to look through them.

I get there (this is on Fredricksberg Road for all San Antonio CAGs out there) and there are three recently opened boxes containing 30 games per box, so I'm thinking jackpot. One box turns out to be all PS2 games (which I can't play on my PS3, thank you Sony), another is 360 games that I don't want or already have (like Bully, Army of Two, GTA IV, Condemned 2, etc.) and the last is a box of Wii games containing the likes of Mario and Sonic and the Olympic Games, SMG, Nights, Rockstar Table Tennis, and a few others. I had my heart set on finding Bioshock or Gears of War, so I pass up the opportunity to get anything. I'm kicking myself now for it because I know I should have gotten Mario and Sonic and SMG and traded those suckers in for major credit but I just couldn't bring myself to flip. The manager behind the counter even asked me a few times if I was "sure" I didn't want anything and I said I didn't. Stupid me.

So I travel around to at least four other BBV and two of them look at me like I'm insane and the other two are really cool and know exactly what I'm talking about but still don't have them. According to one store, the sale was supposed to start on Monday but BBV moved it up to yesterday yet didn't change the shipments, so most of the stores in the area never got them and might get them later. However, another store told me that he thinks that whichever stores got the games are the only ones that are going to get them period.

Any CAGers in the San Antonio area looking for the deal, head to 3690 Fredericksburg Road. That's where the games are. Good luck. No one outside of me seemed to know about the deal there so chances are the games will still be in a box behind the counter. No one had informed the manager what to do with the games so she was trying to figure out how to make labels for them.

Went to a slew of blockbusters today, only one of which had received/knew the deal with the sale. Just 360 games though (had already gotten Cod 4 and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 a couple days ago here). I did get Wii Sports for 9.99 and a mint, complete yakuza for 4.99, so not a total loss for the day.

On a side note, I went to a mom and pop video rental place to see if they had any games. They had quite a few games I wanted but not for sale, and when I asked the Manager/suspected Owner he said he may eventually sell them, but for 25 because he "paid 50 dollars for them." I looked at the games that were for sale, it was the likes of Fifa 2001 and Madden 02, and I think they were going for like 10 bucks. Sigh

Yeah - this sale is all over the place with deliveries and what's in said deliveries, and in how/when the stores decide to put stuff out. I'm going to check out my local store again even though they put their Wii stuff out what seems like a long time ago (Weds). Who knows, maybe they've gotten more (like a 360 shipment). I'd hate to miss that.

I thought those were gamecube games at first because of the size of your humongous cat...

Thanks for making me spit out my Vitamin Water!

Well, his size is amplified somewhat by the fact that he is standing above the games, so he's much closer to the camera than they are ;).

Ha ha I usually have to take multiple pictures of something because every time I pull out the camera and lay something out my cat has to get in the photo as well....

Yeah, he usually lays by my feet and when he saw me get up and put stuff on the floor he got all excited and wanted to be part of it - I just decided to go with it instead of retaking the pic.

Yeah - this one, read the OP ;).

I picked up Oblivion GOY and Marvel Ultimate Alliance both :ps3:. Mine had a good selection on :ps2::360::wii: too.

Just so no one else gets too excited over this, it sounds like a YMMV store manager type deal. I was told specifically by a couple of stores still expecting shipments that PS3 was not included - this info must be in the MAP for the week.

In semi-related news, the other BBV had Eternal Sonata & a couple other $14.99 games I never could find before so here's to hoping they last until the next B1G1 sale.

I, too, noticed yesterday that a couple stores had a bunch more B1G1-type stuff that certainly wasn't there at the end of the last sale.

Both my local stores said they aren't putting the stuff out til the 17th. I know my closest store has them already, because they let me rifle through the 360 stuff yesterday. It was before I knew about this week's coupon, so I didn't even look at Wii stuff. I just hope that they really do stick to the 17th, so I can go in that day. OK, you know that that will happen! If I were you I'd check, or at least call, every day to be sure. I can almost guarantee you will be disappointed if you wait till Monday. With the haphazard way other stores are putting this stuff out I wouldn't risk waiting.

these new shipment games are refurbished? are they in mint condition ?

Yeah - in the flourescent lighting of the stores they look mint/unplayed, but get them home and you can see the refurbiness. But, as I said before, BBV corporate has a damn fine refurb machine - they look great and there isn't any of that gunky blue stuff that the HWV buffers leave all over the middle of the disc.

I HD installed two of the 360 games - it's nice that you can do this as it is a way to thoroughly test the discs without extensive play. Both installed just fine. So if you aren't planning on playing them any time soon, or are trading them or whatever, you can test them right away and know you don't have to deal with a hassle-filled BBV return.

In any case, the refurbs are definitely good enough to make these seem nice to the GS clerks if you are trying to trade in the Wii games using this week's coupon. Now if only I could find more than 1 (got 1 SMG to trade and that's it so far).

Get your point across as nice as possible "HAVE YOU SEEN A UPS SHIPMENT WITH CLEAR CASE GAMES"!!!!!! Just play along when they send you to regular shelf games. "I heard on Slickdeals that you had a sale going on etc......."

I went to 7 BBV's in 3 hours and found them at 3. I made the mistake of going before UPS drops off time(12PM) so not all deliveries were made.

I'm getting ready to head out. I made a huge list of blockbusters and the directions to them. I will be hitting 12 by the end of the night and hopefully I can nab some $10 Wii and 360 games to flip to GS seeing as I really could use credit for Street Fighter, Halo Wars and Resident Evil 5.

Ill post tonight with what, if anything, that I got. Hopefully I will return with good news.

So we know the trade in price for the top 3 Wii games SSSB 17, Mario @ olympics 17 and Mario Galaxy 20, but what about the other Wii games, there are a bunch of other titles, for instance Table Tennis, Sonic Something, Furu Park, Ninja something, Nights. They only have to fetch 7$ in theory at GS to break even with the 60% bump, so I'm thinking anything that fetches 10$ must be a decent flip.

For those of you who didn't get the Tier 1 games, consider the alternatives.

Taken from GS thread.

Go Diego Go: Safari Rescue - $7 (1/22/09)
Guitar Hero III (game only) - $10 (11/22)
Guitar Hero Aerosmith - $9 (1/9/09)
Sonic Riders Zero Gravity - $9 (1/14/09)
Table Tennis - $10 (1/18/09)
Tony Hawk Proving Ground - $9 (1/15/09)

sooo.... one near me had all xbox games which are all crap

another said sale started tuesday and everything is gone

another just had no clue what i am talkin about.

This sale thus far is really very YMMV. I hit up 4 stores yesterday when the sale was supposed to officially start and none of them had any pre-packaged games. 3 stores had no clue to what I was talking about and 1 store manager said he would be getting some in later in the day. Since I had to pickup my kids at 3pm, gas and time to go to 4 stores plus the typical Blockbuster clue-less run-around was enough for me to call it quits for the day.

So today I checked back in at two of the stores from Yesterday. First one, NADA, no shipments in. 2nd one where Manager said games would be in Yesterday says he didn't get them. Tells me he only knows of one store in the his area that got them in. He said they got several boxes. So I race there(3rd store BTW with Rain and traffic) and they have the clear cases allright, but nothing at all worth noting or flippable for that matter. Lots of GC, PS2, 360 but no Wii. The guy at the counter then tells me how they got in 120 games but they all got picked through yesterday a few times and there was only like 40 left. He said someone yesterday got Gears, COD4, and Mario party 4, 5, and 6! Lord knows what else so I was dejected majorly after having gone to all that effort.

So the story ends that I was completely ready to throw in the towel but decided to try one more stop. I finally got somewhat lucky at this(my 4th stop) and found a handful of decent Wii games. No major money flippables but at least scored a copy of Boomblox, Iron Man, MaterNational, No More Heroes, Bully and a couple other less notables for one of my wife's girlfriends who just got a Wii for Christmas. If she doesn't want any of them, I should be able to just about break even giving them to Gamestop with the coupon of the week so little risk here.

After feeling a small amount of satisfaction for the Wii games score, I checked out 2 more BBV's in my greater area and 1 again knew NOTHING about the sale and the 2nd place had one box of all crappy old Xbox games in clear cases(30 of them !) and that is all they got for the sale.

So I still say quite YMMV at this point since A, not all stores are getting games, and B, those that do may only get 360, or Wii, or only Xbox or PS2.

And finally, I have heard that no PS3 games will be part of this sale. Supposed to be $2.99 GC/Xbox and $4.99 PS2 with Wii/360 @ $9.99

I forgot, I also called a store 45 minutes away from me and they only got PS2 and 360 games. He still had a GTA IV but his COD4 got snagged yesterday by someone. The rest of it was Comdemned 2, Dark Sector, etc.. Not worth the drive, gas and time to snag that GTA IV since I already have it and not worth the $5 or so on the flip.

I think selection and even store participation on this sale is sketchy at best.

And Now you now know why Blockbuster is on the ailing companies list. They just can't get their sheet together with many of us CAGS knowing way more than they do about their own sale promotions and Corporate cannot even get games sent out to stores(or converted from within i.e. those without cover-art) for their own advertised promotion and sale.

Pitiful planning, training, and Execution.

Scary Folks. Someone is responsible at that place and I must think that person is MAJORLY asleep at the wheel.

I hit up about 6 blockbusters in the dallas area and only 1 had this deal. The store only had crappy ps2 and xbox 360 games. Also is anyone else's blocbusters closing down? One or 2 of the ones I went to said they were closing in early march, and would transfer everything to a nearby store. I am surprised that they havn't closed many more stores yet.

One in my area is closing down in early March also and they weren't having this sale at their store.

In this economy, it appears to be survival of the fittest not only retailer to retailer, but store to store as evidenced by Blockbuster closing some stores and even Gamestop too(the weak sisters stores of course)

Well, I certainly don't remember them being there the other day but I went in to my local store and found 2 Mario & Sonic. I also grabbed a Mario Strikers Charged (which I've seen several of at the 2 stores that had Wii games). Last quote for that is $12, so hopefully that holds. Even then I am somewhat unsure of trading that - my BBV credit is rapidly dwindling and I really want some in reserve for a future B1G1 sale. I noticed that even at my local store they must have done more rental conversions as there were several more $14.99 and under used games that weren't there before. So it appears stock is back up at a lot of stores for any future sale. Hopefully a few more drops will happen and there will be some good stuff to get (if/when B1G1 returns).

So, anyway, kind of funny but a 10 minute trip to my local store for the second time was more fruitful than my 3 hour, 50+ mile, 5 BBV trip last night .

I called around and found one about a half hour from me. Ended up with a good haul:

2 SMG
2 Strikers
2 Super Paper Mario
Prime 3
WarioWare Smooth Moves

Threw in a Samba de Amigo I got off that Amazon sale. So it basically turned 95 bucks into 160. I'll take that.

Juese - if you can confirm that Strikers trade-in price here and in the GS trade-in thread that would be great. It is unclear if you already traded those or just plan to - if you already have, post all the prices in the GS thread so jp can update the dates if nothing else. The $12 quote I pulled from there for Strikers was a month old. Unlike GH Aero and stuff like that, I would assume Strikers will hold most of its value, though it could be down a bit.

I saw 2 or 3 Table Tennis at my local BBV, but that is pretty much under my cutoff - the $12 (hopefully) for Strikers is my minimum given how low on BBV credit I am now (as opposed to GS credit). If there were easy ways to get more BBV credit I'd do more. But also you need to keep in mind how 'odd' it will look to go into GS with several disc-only Wii games. I mean, they shouldn't have a problem (and hopefully won't refurb fee you) but, still, it isn't worth the hassle to me unless I'm approaching 2x with these.

At this point, though, I'm actually considering the shocking step of trading stuff from GS to BBV at 1:1 just so I have enough for future B1G1 sales.

Went to 3 BBV only the first one had anything Wii and I wasn't much. Picked up Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (played it for a hlaf hour and couldn't stand it) and took my own SMG with me (hadn't touched the game in months since I beat it). Raving Rabbids 2 got 12 base whiich was a suprise to me. I had also read SMG TiV wong and was expecting 14 but turns out it was 17. So I had enough to Pre-Order Killzone 2 and some left over. :D

Don't get Nights - only $6 called today....

BTW i found this site by accident last night after doing some research on some prices for a very rare oop game.
Long story short google led me here and after reading what i wanted initially i got hooked at the sticky threads and read the first 20 pages and skimming through the last 30 was a must so i don't miss out on any info.

I've been doing some of the famous net adapter flips for hard cash for a while but have never ever expected to see this BBV business OMG.

That has got to be the single most hilarious flipping story that I've encountered thus far.
You guys are awesome.

My part - I'm blessed to live [Fairfax,VA] withing 5 mile radius of 6 BBV's [and I'm sure someone has been milking them] ..so i venture out to see what this "Presidents deal" can make me without holding my breath too much. There are allot more around me not too much further out but didn't have the time or drive to do this today after hitting 4 and no games at all... that 4th one thought surprised me with the knowledge the manager in it had and he actually informed me of the delayed shipments and that the 5th BBV on my list [one right near my house] had gotten some games in... I go there with a bit more enthusiasm and what do i find ....????

....[don't worry you didn't miss out on a thing]... just a few 360 Bully, BioShock and GTA VI ..the rest not worth mentioning..i was almost walking out being somewhat disappointed of not finding ANY Wii games and some green/orange looking thing next to the regular pre-owned games caught my eye..

Take a wild guess...
YES its the KABOOKII - at $9.99 !!!
I look left and right and laughing take it up to the counter [keep in mind this is my first time, still somewhat skeptical but i get this feeling inside me of excitement mixed with doubt and a ton of adrenalin] I felt that i needed to get a piece of that Kabookii before it was all over even if it didn't work i could always take it back right...
So not interested anymore in the shabby selection of 360 games they only had there, i walk out the door with a weird smile and one mission only...
BBV #6 is my victim..
I lay down my copy on the counter not sure how to handle the pressure of being unsure of the outcome. Few moments later i walk out the door with some random game that I've been wanting to play for some time which was priced there at $19.99 that i only ended up paying $4.19....

Ps: no games at that BBV#6 too but i didn't care as i had managed to experience the Kabookii within a 10 minute interval of buying it...
PS PS: that copy had a ton of residue from looks like several price stickers being affixed to the outer case... only god know how many BBV's it had visited throughout the area lol

you guys made my day
Good job to whoever came up with this thing... amazing..
I still can't stop laughing inside..

Well congrats on your first experience with Kabooki. I won't tell you what some others call that game or you wouldn't appreciate me saying "congrats on your first experience".

Anyway, trading games from one BBV to another is generally not done too much here, and definitely discouraged (as stated in the OP). I mean, I'm sure there are some who do it quietly and other lurkers who do it a ton, but it is a good way to get banned from trading (not that it matters that much any more). Months and months ago when Kabooki was still a good flip, but before they priced the used copies below the TIV, many of us traded it in from Gamestop. As overpriced as the TIV was, at least that way you were giving them a new product to sell.

What a frustrating sale! Went to another BBV this evening, on the way to the store heard their radio advertisement for this sale...TWICE within minutes. So, I get to the store and they have the Presidents Day sale fliers posted all over the doors and windows. I'm thinking I finally found another store that has some games out....WRONG! I ask the manager about the Presidents Day sale games...he says they have them but not stickered yet...and then tells me they'll be out for sale on Tuesday the 17th. What the hell is that? A Presidents Day sale where the merchandise gets put out the day AFTER Presidents Day.

I went to 4 stores in orange county, and none of the employees had a clue what I was talking about. it's sad when people online (as I've read time and time again with these postings) know more then 99% of the blockbusters employees.... and by chance you find a store with a manager who knows what's going on, and he's kept all the good stuff for himself.
case in point, the Virgil, a manager at one of the blockbusters in Riverside, he's always talking about how he's pulling one over on the DM (what does DM stand for?) and how he's screwing this guy over, and then he looks at me and smiles and tells me to buy GRID on 360 for 9.99 (to help his sales) and then go trade it in at another blockbuster for 15.00.
so even though employees who know that they're talking about, are screwing blockbuster over.

oh I forget to add.... Virgil says they got a memo from corporate about buy back prices, said that they are lowering their buy back prices to be "more in line with the competition" so yeah, I doubt we'll see any more trade in value's over 25.00 .... and corporate are closing a lot of stores down, the underperforming ones, and then the transfer the stock (games) to nearby stores.

DM means District Manager.
My experience today:
The store I went to (Long Island NY), the employee printed out pages from corporate HQ in the back, but they claimed to see nothing about games on it. I did manage to read a part of it - Presidents day Blowout or something like that. Heck, most of the used games are priced $5-$10 more than what they scan for at the register at this location. Now the employees are nice enough, they know that there is a sale going on, but YMMV on them knowing any specific details whatsoever. I would wait until Monday or Tuesday if people are not seeing the $9.99 games now. For all the people who want Blockbuster to go out of business, keep in mind that you will have less competition - and less deals as the outcome.

Not sure about Raleigh, but Durham/Chapel Hill are pretty clean barring a few games. One store only had 360 games, one had Brawl, and the third had Brawl/Galaxy. Sale was going on at all the stores I visited, though it was funny to hear two conflicting stories. One employee told me the discs were fine except they didn't have covers (and I lucked out as all the discs I bought look really really good) while the other, who I trust a bit more, at another store told me that they were all refurbs, which sounds pretty accurate considering the big variance on scratches. Glad I decided to head home this weekend; 3 more BBVs to go tomorrow.

I went to a total of 10 BBV today and not a single one carried 360 or Wii games. Every single one either had nothing, or xbox games. Well I went to 3 more stores tonight (that makes 5 today ... most in my short flipping life) and had a little success. The first of the 3 actually had a ton of stuff, but I couldn't remember which Wii games to look for other than the big 3, so I just got Olympics. sorry to hear that a lot of stores either didnt get their shipments or dont have a clue about the sale. in my district all the stores or at least the stores i've been to have x360 and wii games and a pretty good stock. i went to 3 stores today and picked up 4 copies of SMG, SSBB and mario and sonic. with my employee discount it came out to around $96 and turned that into $345 at GS. one GS made a mistake and gave me $90.xx trade in credit when it should be $85.xx for each set of 3 games. like i posted earlier be careful when trading in sets of 3. i got screwed over in 1 store that only gave me the $10 bonus but when i went back to adjust it they ended up giving me more than they should have. just about out of credit now but luckily i found 2 copies of legendary to flip back to bbv.

Nice - that's a better haul than I got from over 7 stores combined and I bet you didn't spend 1/10th the time I did trying to get them ;).

I was going to call a few stores today but just didn't feel like dealing with describing the sale games when I knew they'd be busy with lots of customers (Friday evening rentals). I'm heading out to a few tomorrow as I want to go to GS anyway to dump the few that I did manage to get.

Are people having decent luck with not getting refurbed by GS? I know of one store (unfortunately the closest one to me) that has a policy of charging refurbs for disc-only games.

I think I moved it to Deal Discussion a long time ago - it keeps popping up in my subscribed threads. Anyway, yeah, it was the 9th. Still, some of those $2.99 games might be ebayable if you want to go that route. The only other alternative is Gamecrazy and according to Scorch they've pretty much nerfed all their Xbox TiVs too - R.I.P. Xbox, it was a good flipping console there for a while even though I never owned one ;). (Ah, the good ol' days: Kung-Fu Chaos, Mafia, Flatout, Red Ninja, etc).

OK, you know that that will happen! If I were you I'd check, or at least call, every day to be sure. I can almost guarantee you will be disappointed if you wait till Monday. With the haphazard way other stores are putting this stuff out I wouldn't risk waiting.

Yep, the main store manager at a BBV told me last thursday that they would be putting them out next thursday. I asked about 3 times why a presidents day sale would start 3 days after presidents day was over and he was confused. I went to this store on Friday night (yesterday), and gee wiz, all the 9.99 games were out and clearly displayed 6 days before he told me they would.

At this point, though, I'm actually considering the shocking step of trading stuff from GS to BBV at 1:1 just so I have enough for future B1G1 sales.

A part of me has thought about this too. I went to a few BBV's that I had never been to last night and I just kept thinking, "damn, I wish i had some cheap copies of legenday, either from a GS coupon or Target to build more BBV credit."

Another part of me wants to go completely cold turkey with BBV flipping. I want all the BBV's in my area to go from having a bunch of trade ins from me to having zero trade ins. It's the principle of the thing really. I still have over $200 worth of Vanilla Visas that I for some reason haven't spent yet, so I'll probably just waste those at BBV if I spend all my credit.

BUH.

I went to a total of 10 BBV today and not a single one carried 360 or Wii games. Every single one either had nothing, or xbox games. I managed to snag Battlefront II, Republic Commando and Freedom Fighters for about $10 but no dice on either Wii or 360. Looks like I am going to have to drive pretty far to find some...

I also went to a total of 10 BBVs, 2 Targets, 1 Sears and bought a total of NOTHING. Now at least I know which BBV's are expected to get stuff in...

Oh wait, I bought a clearance poster frame at Target for $3.74. That was totally worth a quarter tank of gas... I honestly don't care about the wasted gas and the wasted time. It's the energy I wasted getting in and out of my car and the energy I wasted trying to explain to more than one employee at each store about the sale that they are probably supposed to be have...

Sry for my rants, but it makes me feel a little better and i hope it makes some of you guys feel better who had somewhat crappy experiences as well. :)

Edit: Sry for the multiple posts as well, but i was just trying to get caught up on the 5 pgs of posts i missed. Hooray the BBV thread is thriving again... its just kind of depressing now.

I'm wondering where my store got this damn notion about the 17th from. You BBV employees have any idea why they'd have the impression that they can't put the games out til then? It's really annoying considering a heard that radio ad 3 times today about the president's day sale.

Same at one my local bbv's. Was there at opening on the 12th and was told that the sale starts the 17th. The other 2 near me one had only http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/images/icons/cagposticons/iconxbox360.gif & I scored a COD4, the second had http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/images/icons/cagposticons/iconxbox360.gifhttp://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/images/icons/cagposticons/iconps2_r2.gifhttp://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/images/icons/cagposticons/icongamecube.gif&http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/images/icons/cagposticons/iconwii.gif scored 2 Mario/Sonic Olympics. sorry to hear that a lot of stores either didnt get their shipments or dont have a clue about the sale. in my district all the stores or at least the stores i've been to have x360 and wii games and a pretty good stock. i went to 3 stores today and picked up 4 copies of SMG, SSBB and mario and sonic. with my employee discount it came out to around $96 and turned that into $345 at GS. one GS made a mistake and gave me $90.xx trade in credit when it should be $85.xx for each set of 3 games. like i posted earlier be careful when trading in sets of 3. i got screwed over in 1 store that only gave me the $10 bonus but when i went back to adjust it they ended up giving me more than they should have. just about out of credit now but luckily i found 2 copies of legendary to flip back to bbv.

i thought it was against GS' policy to trade in the same game. Unless you guys are having someone else do it? I'm a noob when it comes to trade-ins. I haven't traded anything to GS for a couple of years now.

I think he got 4 sets of SMG, SSBB, and Mario & Sonic (the lucky bastard ;)) and traded each set of 3 in to different stores. If I have the TiVs right on those each set would get you $86.40 at GS after coupon + Edge. So yeah, you usually can't trade more than 1 of the same game in at a time, but it isn't too much trouble to go to 4 different Gamestops, or even the same one on different days. They might take notice especially if you bring the same 3 disc-only games on consecutive days, but they aren't as paranoid about that sort of stuff as BBV clerks tend to be.

Snagged GTA4 (360) - $9.99 for my friend who finally joined the next gen console era (by getting an Elite. go big or go home!) Also saw a few copies of Devil May Cry 4 for 9.99 and was very tempted for that price point, but alas I passed.

Lady at the register scanned GTA4, then asked me if I played it online. I said yes, then she recommended I pick up the Lost and Damned add-on and pulled one out of the glass case for me so now I don't have to wait til Tuesday to pick it up. Holla! Too bad the content isn't playable til then, though. :P

Quite the opposite...the 13 games that I have picked up were flawless. These are probably refurbs, but I have compared them to some of my games that I have purchasd new, and I can't tell the difference. There isn't a mark on them. They remind me of some of the 360 GTA IV's that I picked up during the B1G1...they look like rentals that were never rented.

I swung by 3 BBV's on my home from work yesterday and only one of them had the xbox/ps2 games for 2.99-4.99. I picked up Riddick for xbox thinking it would have to work on my 360 and of course not! I'm sooo annoyed. I wonder if they'll ever patch it to work on the 360.

I also picked up No More Heroes for Wii for 15 bucks. Not apart of the disc only sale but i thought it was a good price and the disc is flawless.

May swing by a few more BBV's today in Chicago to see if anything has been put out.

The 360 games will be packaged the same ast the $5 PS2 titles. (Read the first paragraph in the OP).

I would say if your store has $5 PS2 games, they will not have Wii or 360. The stores that have the $3 PS2 (same games) usually have the $10 Wii/360 games. It seems that the $5 PS2/Xbox games go to the crappy stores (like mine)

BEST DEAL EVER-

I went to a BBV about 20 minutes away in Clermont, FL. I took COD4, Bioshock, and MX vs. ATV up to the counter. The guys says, "Hmmm. For some reason these are all ringing up for $2.99 a piece." I said, "Does that mean they'll all ring up for that price?" He walked over to the bin checked a couple of games and said, "Looks like they will."

I have only got one Mario & Sonic Olympics, but I saw 2 more at another location that I am probably going to go back for. I think I've given up on this sale for the most part in Phoenix. I might call my extended area and double check to see if there is anything out there.

I called and was told they have them, when I walked in the lady handed me a binder of discs and said "these don't have the cases." I looked through and it looked like games that would qualify, however I saw that each disc had the used game barcode next to it (the regular ones, not the "prepack pog sept 2008" ones) so I asked if these were the ones they'd gotten in for the President's Day sale and she said yes. Yeah, good luck on that. I caused one guy to have a fit because after he rang up SMG and Mario Strikers I told him I didn't want Strikers. I was waiting and waiting for the GS TiV page to load on my iPhone and when I found out it was only $12 I decided to pass (but then I later got one at my local store - go figure ;)). it was just before closing and he asked me if I wanted any other games and I told him no - he took that to mean I wanted those two for sure even after I asked him to open them so I could check the discs before he rang them up. Then he got mad at me because he'd "get in trouble" for having to remove one from the sale. You gotta love BBV's register setup .

So yeah, returning stuff weeks later is gonna be very YMMV. I couldn't even get the manager at my local store to return/repurch a Flash Focus during the last B1G1 sale and she knows me pretty well and has to always apologize for not getting my preorders in - so she had all sorts of reasons to bend the rules for me and still wouldn't.

Just got off the phone after calling 3 BBVs, including 2 that told me they were expecting these games in but hadn't gotten them a few days ago. Today 2 of them didn't know what I was talking about and said they had no games like that. A third may have done the repricing thing because they said they had games in clear cases with yellow locks and they were priced normally - disc-only CoD4 for $44.99 for example .

I'm heading out anyway and will check out 2 other stores to see what's up.

Well, I was out running errands today and stopped by my closest local store and I'm glad I did. I got $14 base for Mario Strikers Charged today. Not a great flip, but I had called a different GS beforehand and they quoted me $20. So, either the dude was a moron, or its one of those weird situations were different GS stores have slightly different TIVs. Oh well, it was $9.99 + tax at BBV -> $22.40 at GS after Edge and coupon.

Yeah, the TRU here in Johnstown has them still, at least they did last week.

At least I know another person in my neighborhood. You and 007, although 007 is in-town.

Darn it! I haven't shop at GS/ EB for long time and mine GS discount card is expired last week. Still not worth to re-new it... still hope mine friend let me borrow his card for extra 10% trade-in tomorrow.

This sale blows. I hit up the BBV in Eagle Rock and Glendale and nada at both. For the record, that's 7 Blockbusters with nothing, and 1 with crappy Wii games. Has anyone else in Southern California confirmed this deal?

The games are refurbished, and most of them are done very well. I wouldn't worry about the condition.

Checked out 3 BBVs today with little finds. Most of the stores around here either recieved ps2/xbox games or none at all. I too am searching for some 360 titles, but if they do recieve new things in on Tue, then I suppose a few of the closer stores might need another looking at.

I also checked out 3 BBV today. Each one was different. One had only xbox and 360 titles, the other had ps3, 360, and wii titles, the other didn't seem to have them at all.

You guys finding Wii games (let alone good Wii games) are lucky. I stopped at about 8 BBVs while I did my loop of deal huntin and never saw a single one. Only half the stores even had any of the clear box games out.

For any CAGs in the Allentown area, the Cedar Crest Blvd. has a good selection of 360 games (only console I saw):COD4, GTA4, Bioshock, DMC4. The Whitehall BBV has a bunch of Xbox and some 360. I didn't make it to Hamilton Blvd.

Only game I ended up getting was first edition San Andreas for Xbox. Not sure why, but for 2.99 I figured at least I wouldn't leave empty-handed.

This deal gave me a flashback to the Hollywood 3.99 flip-a-thon. I saw a KOTR II at BBV and got excited for a second, then remembered GS doesn't take Xbox games any more (and even if they did, there's no 30% TIV bonus)

Been to over a dozen BBs in the past 3 days.

Only *1* store got 'good' stuff, 'good' being 3 copies of :360: COD4.

I did end up with a $3 copy of :xbox: SW BattleFront 2 for $3 and Season 1 of Reno 911! for $4

It seems like the 3.99 DVD titles really vary by store, dvds that I see in the bin at one store are still makred 9.99 at others, and vice versa

Stopped by 4 BBVs today, most had nothing but crap for the $10 games. No SMG, no Mario and Sonic, hardly any wii stuff at all.

I did get Halo 3, Boom Blox, Condemned 2, and Fear Files for $40. I actually wanted fear files and condemned to play. Been looking for a copy of Halo 3 cheap for a while.

I've been to a total of 7 BBVs in the Portland/Vancouver area now. 6 out of the 7 I've been to have these games out now. But only 2 of them have Wii games.

So far, I've been able to pick up (3) Super Mario Galaxy, (1) Mario & Sonic Olympics, (1) 360 COD 4, & (1) 360 Grid.

Amazingly enough, the store I went to last night that told me they had them but wouldn't put them out until the 17th, was where I got my best finds today. I just had a hunch they would put them out earlier than they told me. So, I decided to go back today and found (2) SMG's & the (1) Mario Sonic Olympics there.

At the store I found COD 4 for the 360, they didn't have any Wii games, just 360 stuff. But the weird thing is they removed all the discs, didn't have the yellow lock on the cases, and had printed the generic BBV inserts for all the cases. The COD 4 also didn't have the 'POG' barcode or a $9.99 sticker, but I noticed the barcode it did have was printed on 2/12/09, so I figured it should be part of the sale. I had them scan it and sure enough it was $9.99. I was expecting it to scan higher since it didn't have the same 'POG' barcode.

Went to 4 of the BBVs I tried yesterday, 2 still had nothing, 1 had a few crappy 360 games and the other had some decent stuff like GH: Aero (Wii) but I passed. Then I checked 2 others. 1 had none and the other had a few 360 games, so all I got today was RBS:V2. Decent games to play aren't nearly as exciting and decent games to flip. I'll probably have to go back next week and settle for the 1:1.5 flips if I don't find the good stuff.

You're hard to please io - double your money and it isn't a good flip? Wow. I guess I'm a cad when it comes to this stuff. :)

Well, as someone else pointed out it is actually $14 now (which means it has gone up $2 since January), which makes it a double. It wasn't at 12. That's Mario Strikers Charged. Now I wish I had picked up that one at the other store.

does anyone know the current tiv for cranium kabooki for wii?

$16 - I was at a GS and saw one and was going to the BBV next door anyway so I thought what the hell. The BBv had NO $9.99 games but at least I did my first trade-in in a long while.

See, now, I'd love to get a Boom Blox to keep but never saw that at the 2 total stores where I've seen Wii games (out of about 10 now).

Wow, where in the Portland area? Because I noticed a definite trend... I live on the border of two districts. One is to the East and one to the West. The stores in the east district all had stuff a few days ago except for one which said they were still expecting them.

EVERY SINGLE store in the western district that I've been to or called (about 5 or 6 total) has not had them and either has no idea what I'm talking about, says, "Yeah we have disc only games in clear cases and they are regular price" or possibly might be expecting something but haven't gotten them yet.

So, I'd say it is feast-or-famine for the most part and it seems to go by district, so keep that in mind!

Anyway, I managed to trade in a Mario Strikers and Mario & Sonic at GS today and luckily no refurb fee - got $49.60 for the pair, very nice indeed. If only I could find more than 4 total Wii games across 10+ stores .

This sale was a total bust for me. I went to 3 different stores, none had the games. I checked 1 Thursday, 1 yesterday and 1 today. The first 2 stores told me they never got them in, the 3rd store I didn't even ask if they had them since there was a line.

No, that's not the case - look at what I posted. It definitely seems tied to districts so one person may see the sale everywhere and another may not see it at all (if they stick to one district). In my area nearly every store in one district got them but not at all in the other. And they aren't wiped out in those stores because either they didn't know what I was talking about at all or knew but said they didn't come in yet.

Plus, no one is going to snap up all those disc-only Ninja Reflex and Battle of the Bands and junk like that. Now, if someone goes in and says it is crap because they only saw a "few" $9.99 disc-only games, then, yeah, chances are they got beat to the good stuff. This happened with me at one store a few days ago. They had a handful of 360 games but none of the good stuff - presumably they were cleaned out (of good stuff) earlier that day. But they still had crap like Turok, etc, and tons of PS2 and original Xbox games...

One of my friends works at one of the BBV's in the Portland,Vancouver area. He just says that the good games actually start disappearing before they put them up in the bins.

Like, magically?

My point was that you can still tell if a store has had them because they certainly won't sell every disc-only copy of the crappy Wii and 360 titles - especially those that they haven't been able to sell complete at $9.99. So if a store has absolutely NO clear-cased disc-only games with the "PREPACK POG" bar code then chances are they didn't get any (or haven't gotten them yet).

I just remembered one specific example - one store had 2 or 3 of the 360 Arcade Unplugged compilation. I believe they sell that normally for $6.99 used (and usually with original case). Yet the disc-only ones are $9.99 like all the others. Surely no one will jump all over that deal (not that they'd know it normally sells cheaper but most people won't pay too much for that disc). Also, the Wii games at my local store have been out since Wednesday and they have barely been touched except by me. In fact, I hope to go back tomorrow and get the second Strikers I left there Friday.

Apparently this e-mail said they have a ton of the disc-only games being sent out. I guess it makes sense, since a lot of games get sent back. Damn, Imagine GTA IV, Mario Galaxy, Olympic Games, etc for $5
