my local store won't take back kabooki for $15 because in their system the selling price is $14.99. Is there any work around on this?
Thanks

Explicitly excluded, but some employees manually did it... and it only received 20.00 base, while that coupon was running.

While minor and possibly a typo in the above post, the TIV is actually $16. But I was just going to suggest going to a different BBV. This was the first time I'd traded that game in and it was disc only. The lady asked me if I had the glasses (or something like that) that went with it. Had no idea what she was talking about though, got my credit on a gift card, & got out of there.

And this must be in the computer system because last time I traded one they asked if they were in there too - luckily this copy from GS had them, so she was satisfied. Just beware that they might possibly not take it without them.

According to FoS's third post, this is a two dollar drop from 2/22.

According to FoS's third post, this is a two dollar drop from 2/22.

A month ago, I would have been pretty excited, assuming that the selling price of the game had dropped into the $25 range; probably lining up a few games to flip from gamestop to reduce the cost even more.. Now, of course... well...

Was at my last remaining Gamestop that sells DVDs earlier and noticed they had a "buy 1 get 2 free" deal on all movie formats (DVD\Blueray... HD (cough)) Might be some flipping potential with the Bluerays; probably YMMV, though.

Anyway, I'm pretty happy today because I just successfully replaced my 360's DVD drive without screwing anything up!:bouncy:

Oh man, it looks like based off the very few TIVs posted, BBV decided to drop values for 2.00 for no apparent reason. Probably more drops we don't know about.

Has anyone flipped anything, period to Blockbuster in the last month? I need to call them about Blitz 2 for 360, I got that at Target. If I don't like it, gotta unload it somewhere though it sounds like the deal for Resident Evil 4 sounds more profitable (20ish bucks in credit)

@FoS: Not sure "flipped" is the correct verb anymore, but I did move credit from GS to BBV via :360: Legendary about 2 weeks ago. I was down to virtually zero BBV credit and wanted to have some ammo for the "w/o Cover Art" sale. Unfortunately, I found nothing to purchase for myself. Only one store out of about 7 in my area had any of the "w/o" tagged games. That store only had 360 games of which the only stand outs were BioShock, Bully, and GTA, all of which I own; complete even!.

Hopefully, a B1G1 comes soon and I can find 4 $10 games so I can re-wipe out my BBV credit. Hell, flipping got me up to ~$250 in GS credit. With an infant in the house and a 20+ game backlog, that credit might well last me until next gen. :) (if I dont blow it all on MS points for RB content that is ;))

Also, I remember during the last B1G1, people saying they bought cranium bukkake for 6.99 (so 3.49 w/ b1g1). Its possible that they could have upped the price and put the thing in the computer saying to include glasses, but if they did all of that, I don't understand how the TIV would still be 16.

You would have to rent the game first and then purchase the game, so it would like 5 dollars more than the purchase price.

I just bought a Wii, and I have some BBV credit remaining on my value card. I've been holding out for another B1G1 sale, but I think it's worth using some of my credit to get a triple A game that sells for at least $20 more everywhere else. At any rate, I'd appreciate if someone could confirm the price on SMG. Thanks in advance.

When you rent a game, the recipt also prints a "keep it" price, just tell the employee I plan on keeping it can I pay now... If they say no just say well can I put credit on my account to be billed later. It's their policy, the only problem is getting the case and manual too

There have been a couple rumors posted by CAGs who visited BBV. However, the one CAG on this site who is actually a BBV employee hasn't been able to confirm anything. Hopefully, we'll get another B1G1 next month, but my understanding is that there really isn't a pattern with regards to when these sales happen. Basically, corporate decides when to do these sales, so it's somewhat arbitrary.

"I did'nt rent the movie but accidentally downloaded "pirates" under another name over the internet. It is XXX filth! When I saw the dvd in the store, my heart stopped for a second. I went home and pulled up the title on Blockbusters site and was relieved to find it is a 'cleaned up version' with an R rating. But the fact remains that Blockbuster has supported the XXX industry by purchasing this filth for their customers to rent. Shame..."

I can't find the second Pirates movie on there (called "Stagnetti's Revenge") but I'm assuming it's going to be R-rated as well. Not to mention that you have to go up to the counter with it. That right there makes it not worth the trouble, especially if it's not even real porn.

Dont know if its been posted but HV has a b1g1 going on. The ones near me are pretty much cleaned out though. It has been going on for a while. Dont remember if its $14.99 and under or $19.99 and under. But all systems are valid. I also think more ppl should look into trading at HV/movie gallery b/c they match trade in values and i saw a sign about a week ago for a promotion going on where they would give you +50% of the games TIV.
HV is Hollywood Video right? Is it the same thing as Movie Gallery? I didn't know that. Why isn't there a HWV/MG/GR thread? I've had pretty good experiences from buying/trading there and they're all around me.

The Lego Indiana Jones\Kung-fu Panda 360 bundle ($15) is apparently a "used deal of the week" in Gamestop's latest ad. Not much of a flip according to the values on the first post, but does provide an opportunity for GS>BB credit transfer... (assuming you get around the cover-art issue.)

I can confirm that those trade values, $10 Indy, $8 Panda, were still accurate as of yesterday, 27 Feb. I had the guy check when I saw them priced $24.99 and $19.99 respectively. Forgot that high sell price doesn't mean high trade value anymore.

With Edge you're doing $11.99 +tax --> $18. It's a pretty good flip in today's climate. :P I have one store in town that will take them with the bundle cover art. Depending on who's working. I think the store manager there likes me, but she's always telling how I complain too much though.

If i remember correctly, their buyback prices were always about 60% of the prices they were sold for. Now it appears that it was lowered to about 40% based on the trade quotes that most people have been posting. Thats always been my roundabout way of figuring out BBs trade in values.

I was in my hometown BbV today and they are always on the ball with marking games.

I was quite excited to see three copies of merc 2 for the ps3 tagged at 14.99. They also had Lost Odyssey tagged at 19.99. Fable Lost chapters for 4.99 (i did buy this). cant wait for a new b1g1, hopefully TWEWy will drop another 5 dollars.

GTA 4 should scan at $14.99 unless it is a Franchise store. Never trust the price tag on a game since many BBV are always behind on updating the tags.

As mentioned above, prices at BBV are universal except at Franchise stores. Same thing applies as to whether a BBV accepts trade-ins.

I can't believe I'm playing Kung-Fu Panda...

Anyway, stopped by my local BBV today. Might have noticed one or two new titles in the game clearence section that weren't there last time, and I'm pretty sure there were a few more copies of Ninety-Nine Nights. My heart nearly lept when I came across a copy of The Bourne Conspiracy in a clear case for the PS3, but it was tagged at $24.99 and the BB tag didn't have that "pre-sell" text or whatever it was, so I'm sure it wasn't part of the sale.

My closest store converted all their remaining GC rentals for sale. I don't think Twilight Princess ever hit the shelf though. One day I was there, nothing much in used games. Next day, all their GC rentals were mixed in there. I'm about out of BBV credit though, and I just can't quite justify them without a sale.

Almost got lucky today and scored Fallout 3 for 14.99. It was mistagged but they refused to sell it to me at the price. Which is really upsetting, seeing as the last time I found a mistagged game they sold it to me.

Finally found those cover-less games for sale. Not many Wii Games were left but they did have a ton of 360 games. Nothing I was deathly interested in but it was nice to finally find them.

Stopped by a Blockbuster and all the Gamecube rentals (I assume) had been converted to used. They had complete Animal Crossing, Smash Bros., Mario Kart, and several other decent games, $6.99 to $9.99. I'll wait for a buy 1 get 1 free and stop in again. Nothing I need for myself but might be worth trade bait. RE4 on GCN was either $6.99 or $7.99.

I just called about 15 minutes ago and a big store in North Kansas City didn't get it UPS this afternoon. Looks like it will be Friday from what they told me. This one had 22 coming in though, so there should be quite a few at most stores.

Eh - maybe, but it's not evern worth it to me to call. The game is $29.99 new and $24.99 used at GS but of course there are no used copies anywhere near me at this time. And I can't see it being any better than $22 or so at BBV anyway.

Meh - this thread used to consume all my time on CAG and now I don't even want to read it any more. So sad...

So not only are their prices getting beat by GS, but they don't have the 10% bonus card + any sort of trade-in deals whatsoever. Oh yeah, and they have a crappy and miniscule selection of games for sale and they never get anything on time even when you preorder it. Remind me again, BBV, why anyone would trade with you now?

Not that the trade-in values are any better, but my local Hollywood Video (which does not have a Gamecrazy in it) has a MUCH better selection of games for sale and actually has an extensive preorder list (pages and pages long) tacked to the wall between the rentals and used games. Now, I've never preordered there and probably never will since BBV nerfing their prices means no more trade-in price matches at Gamecrazy to build up my credit, but I'd be willing to bet they get stuff in when you preorder it - probably even on the actual release day!

I'm down to just $115 at Gamecrazy/Hollywood and a mere $175 at Blockbuster. That's the lowest total I've had at either place since I first got started. Looks like all my business will have to be with Gamestop from now on. I'll save the GC credit for the occasional off-the-wall sale they have (like the B1G1 on $9.99 and under new games a few months back). And I'll save the BBV credit, obviously, for some future B1G1 on used games - pretty much the only thing they have going for them at this time. Hopefully they won't screw that up!

Saw something weird tonight. I've been looking for a $9.99 copy of BioShock for 360 around town and stopped by a BBV I hadn't been in for a couple months. They used to have a section of new games that spanned 3 wall panels and it'd been knocked down to 1. Even worse, all of their used games had been put into clear rental cases and the original packaging had been trashed. And then there was the worst part, which was that a fair number of games from the $9.99 sale were mixed in with the others, but the store had sloppily repriced them at anywhere from $14.99 to $34.99, often with parts of the $9.99 tags still showing. Just pathetic. It seems like the game sections at all the BBV's around here have gone downhill over the last couple months, but this was by far the worst I'd seen.

BBV is not worth it to me anymore. Shame, since I got my 360 on release date using cheap credit and the PS3 there as well. I preordered Legends of Wrestlemania (listed as WWE Legends on the BBV system) and have $55 left. I'll probably just use that up with the next game that interests me and be done with them for good.

I'm not sure. I would guess so, but I'm not sure if franchise stores got games for the $9.99 sale. Of the other 5 or 6 stores in the area I've been to in the last week, none had done anything like this, so I'm guessing it was either a franchise or just a dumbass store manager doing his own thing.

I read in Game Informer(i think) that you can import wrestlers from Smackdown 09 into Legends of Wrestlemania. Not sure if it is going to be created wrestlers that are saved or the actual WWE roster. Might be worth the $9 rental once Legends comes out if it is possible to bring over all the current guys.

It's probably on account of it not really being a 5-day rental for most people. Whenever I rent something from Blockbuster, I generally keep it for almost a month. The restocking fee in the end is only an additional $1.50 or so. If returned before 2-weeks time, you don't have to pay any restocking fee.

this is all changing in the near future. there are test markets across the country testing out late fees. i'm in one of them and from what i hear late fees will be back everywhere. i can tell you the test program we are running here. for new release titles you have the option of renting it for 1 day for $2.99 or 5 days for $4.99. each additional day is .99. all game rentals are 5 days for $8.99. .99 each addtional day. older titles are .99 or $1.99 for 5 days depending on how old they are with late fees being .20 or .40 per day. you no longer have 30 days to return product before you own it. you now own it after an item is 10 days late. like i said there are variations of this throughout the country so expect to hear something in the near future.

Correct, you only need a save from 09 and you get the majority of the roster on Legends. I didn't know you could still keep it; I did this a few years ago but I thought they put an end to that. Thanks for the heads up that this was still going.

The second this happens I will be cancelling that service. The only thing I like about the service now is that I trade in movies for new ones to watch, and by the time I watch them I have new ones in the mail. That stops, and I'm ~$20 a month richer, BB is ~$20 a month poorer.

Man, that will blow big time if late fees come back and they change how the exchanges are being done. I could maybe take one of the two, but with both, I will seriously have to look at changing to a different service.

If they aren't making money doing it the current way though, changes need to be made. Just because they piss us off with it doesn't mean it isn't the better move to make.

They really are going trying to piss off their online and instore customers now. I like to let the kids pick movies out when I turn in the mailer, this way I don't have to worry about when it's due back. But if that means i wait for the next one in the mail, that will suck.
Hopefully they stay in business through the summer for another perfect storm.

Crap! I have about $175 in credit and about another $75 in GCs I need to cash out! I was hoping to keep it as my "reserves" and use from time to time when new releases come out. Time to scrap that plan.

I feel for some of the employees. I work for Interstate Baking(wonder bread/hostess cakes) and we just came out of Bankruptcy after 4 years of union give backs. Making less and now paying for health insurance but at least I'm still working.
BUT....I sure as hell will be there when they close the doors on the store where the fucking B*tch works that always gave me a hard time, listening to my Ipod touch, playing my DS lite and buying some blu rays, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 games.
Thanks, you fucking Jr. Detective

Shit, my 2$ of remaining credit are in jeopardy. See BBV this is what happens when you ban a good customer like me from trading. Karma bite's you in the ass.

But I do feel bad for the poor saps I developed relationships with, one manager I know was layed off from circuit city and took this job, his karma must desperately need a recharge.

Well I read the article on cnn, and it says that BBV are seeking capital, not preparing for bankruptcy. Take that comment with a grain of salt, but maybe it's true, or maybe the CEO want is share price to recover before he dumps his stock.

Does anyone know about pricing for the original Rock Band SE for the 360 at Blockbuster? I searched and only found one guy got it for 41.99 but it was mislabeled.

online customers do not have late fees BUT you do not get your next online movie shipped to you until you return your free in-store exchange back to the store.

I was wondering why my in-store rental suddenly showed up in my Queue. I looked into it some more and here's what I found from BBV's website:

"If you are a BLOCKBUSTER Total Access™ subscriber, you can exchange your online rentals for free in-store movie rentals at participating stores (http://www.blockbuster.com/help/faq/862). You'll receive one free in-store movie rental for each online rental sealed in its return mailer, up to your plan’s limits. The maximum number of free in-store movie exchanges is based on the plan to which you subscribe. At participating stores, your free in-store exchanges will not have due dates. You can keep them as long as you want without incurring additional fees, as long as you remain a BLOCKBUSTER Total Access subscriber. However, in all cases, any free in-store movie exchanges will count towards how many online rentals you may have out under your plan. Your next online movie will ship after the in-store movie exchange has been returned to the store you rented it from.

For example, let's say you have a 2 out at-a-time plan with up to 3 free in-store exchanges per billing month, and you bring your 2 online rentals to the store for a free in-store exchange (provided you have not used all of your free in-store exchanges for that billing month). You may keep your two free in-store exchanges as long as you like – they are not subject to in-store terms and conditions, such as due dates. However, the next online rental from your online queue will not be shipped until you return at least one of the in-store exchanges, since your plan allows you up to 2 rentals out at-a-time and you currently have 2 rentals out through the free in-store exchanges.

If you have met your exchange limit OR are a BLOCKBUSTER By Mail subscriber, you may return your online rentals by mail, or drop them off at a local BLOCKBUSTER store for faster check-in. You may also exchange the online rental for a discounted movie rental $1.99 before tax at participating stores. However, unlike free in-store movie exchanges, discounted in-store movie exchanges (1) do not count towards how many online rentals you are allowed out under your plan; and (2) may not be kept as long as you like – discounted in-store movie exchanges are subject to the store’s rental terms and conditions, including due dates and any applicable fees."

This might seem really petty to some, but I'm considering a change to Netflix over this. There have just been too many changes and all the good things about Blockbuster's online subscription have gone out the window. I just wish the instant watch movies on Netflix didn't look so God awful on my Xbox 360. I'm still getting more movies through BBV than Netflix though, so I don't know....maybe BBV will just go under and I won't have to make a choice.

Well, that's what I get for buying 400 shares @ $1.28 a share...

I dont even care at this point, If it goes down even more, ah well, if it goes up again miraculously, awesome. I'm not gonna hold my breathe though.

I doubt Blockbuster will go under until mid-summer at the earliest. The big problem's all the debt coming due in August, right? At that time, I'm guessing they'll either go under entirely, get bought out or be forced to close many, many stores as a restructuring.

Yeah, I think people are overreacting a bit at this point.

At closing a share was worth 22 cents. Very rarely do companies come back from that (Kmart is one that did).

It can go private, then restructure then come back again.

While the stock might be doomed doesn't mean the company has to be.

Not to put words in his mouth, but I think he was referring to some of the comments about immediately clearing their credit. I don't think its a day to day situation here with BB, but something more along the lines of 6-8 months. It does look rather grim for BB at this point though. Personally, I do think that by 2010, we will live in a world without Blockbuster. I really hope that I am wrong.

Exactly. Everyone is acting like the sky is falling and we should duck and cover immediately. While it looks bad, I don't see any immediate danger.

But if anyone feels inclined, I'll buy your BBV credit for $.75 on the dollar. ;)

 at the people thinking they need to dump their credit by this weekend...

As others have said, they have at least until August, and then some time to figure out how to handle things. It could very well end up that nothing changes on the retail side at all. I think we'll have plenty of notice before they go under completely. Hell, haven't they been through this before already?

Anyway, I haven't even stepped foot in the place in a couple of weeks. I'm certainly not going to panic and dump my relatively low $175 on a bunch of new games or overpriced DVDs or something. I'll still wait it out for a B1G1 sale, and even then take it easy with the credit and only buy stuff I want for myself or that gets 2x or more at GS.

In other news, I heard from our old friend kunai... I asked him a couple of questions that I'm sure CAGs would want to know. Surprisingly, he didn't go nuts with the Vanilla Visas as we all thought he would - he said he got around 6. I know there were others here who way outdid that. Otherwise he is in the same boat as us - pretty much things have dried up on the BBV front. Of course he did go nuts with the Best Buy Silver members deals (Midnight Club and QoS) - though it seems like most of that was just to sell, and not trade to BBV (even before they nerfed the trade-in values).

I finally dug through some of my game piles and pulled out all the games I had bought at Target a few months back thinking they might be good flips at BBV. I should have done this much sooner as there has been no point keeping them for the last few weeks. But it was almost like found money - returned DMC4 (multiple copies), Jericho, Beijing 2008, and NBA 09. A lot of the receipts were set to expire in just a few days so I'm glad I finally got around to it.

I was told by one BBV clerk on Friday that they are getting it.

But when I think back on it now, he may just have been trying to get a preorder out of me.

Yup, Blockbuster is getting the red ring of death!

(You might not want to put "red" and "360" together in the same sentence again in the future, it's bad karma.)

I'm going to make a new thread. I was waiting to coordinate with FoS over the second post, but given the changes in BBV trade-in values I'll probably just handle it myself. I'll make the new thread when I have soem time. I just spent the last 4 days dealing with sick children and then being sick myself, so I need to get some real work done now ;).
