Guess I'll have to change MY avatar - that ought to really throw some people off ;).

Yeah, like where have you been?
As stated by someone else, they can make up whatever rule they want at their discretion. It sucks, though, when their decision is based on false info (they think you are stealing or whatever).

Well I realize that managers can basically pull rules out of thin air and everything, but for her to bring up incarceration with no basis is ridiculous.

For those of you buying Amazon gift cards with Visa Vanilla: either buy the cards in $50 increments and use the full $100, or buy a $99 and let them hold your $1 and then find a way to use it afterward. The $50 cards do not authorize any holds. Ordered my Asus EEE PC, now I can cut the flipping for a little bit.

Congrats :applause: Netbooks rock!!

i found another flip from bb - gs. i know a lot of people are using VV but i thought i would throw it out there. noticed yesterday that mk vs dc universe for ps3 is 32.99 used. trades to gs for 25 base so after 40% it is 32.99 - 35.

Isn't that a just-released game? What are the chances of finding that used at any given Blockbuster? Unless they converted rentals over already, that is - which is a distinct possibility if they overbought it.

So I'm sitting here still up at 6am deciding if I want to go to TRU to get RB2 for the PS3 for $109 + $25 gift card. I already have it for 360, of course. This would just be for the PS3 I'm setting up upstairs (now have TV and couch - need stand for TV, then we're all set for Christmas). It would be so my son could play up there and free up our TV downstairs. Of course, I could move the 360 up there too and he could just play the one we have. So I figured why the hell do I need a third set of drums?

But ultimately what it came down to was all the cheap credit I have. I'm sure the rest of you have had this problem. The deal is so great that I have an overwhelming desire to get in on it even though I don't really need the game. But beyond that, even if I didn't have any version of RB2 and really wanted to get it, I have so much cheap credit (especially at GS thanks to the perfect storm, to keep this on topic ;)) that buying it at the full $189.99 price at GS (or BBV) is really cheaper than the $84 it would be at TRU (counting the $25 gift card as a discount off the sale price of $109, even though you'd have to use it later on something else).

STILL, though, I'm feeling like I should run out right now. I'm trying to talk myself down here...

Reasons not to get PS3 RB2 bundle:

1) Have two sets of drums for 360 already - storage is an issue.
2) Have the game on 360 and we actually don't play it that much any more. Given how many games I have that I never have time to play it is also a time management issue. Neither me nor my son really needs to get into playing the same game on another system.
3) If I really wanted it, I could get it at GS for less than the TRU price minus the gift card. But of course I wouldn't do that simply due to the psychology of paying "full retail" for something I don't want that much (even if "full retail" at GS is cheap to me in real money terms).

Reasons to get it:

1) For now, the PS3 will be upstairs and away from the main TV/living/dining area. That would allow my oldest son to play up there and let the younger one play the Wii or my wife watch TV or just let us have some peace (when he plays we have to watch the baby all the time because he gets in the way, pulls on the guitars, pounds on the drums, etc).
2) It is shiny and new ;).
3) I'd feel like I got in on a great deal...

Eh, screw it, I'm going to bed.

none of the BBVs around know about he BBV Dark Knight Preorder Bonuses that have been meantioned on this thread (small framed art: 1 of the joker and 1 of three small pics).

For those who got them, where do you live? I have a feeling that my district, or perhaps even my state didn't get them at all. At one BBV, they called the district manager and he didn't know what i was talking about.

that was my BBV. The pieces weren't small framed posters, they were postcards. They may or may not have been actually licensed or just something the store made themselves (they're on Kodak photo paper) -- my store also didn't do the raffles, from what I saw.

Its a little late to be looking for them, though, with the movie being out for a week ;)

That's where Vanilla Visas have turned my world upside down. Before I hated spending cash on clearance items in Targets, TRU, Kmart, etc. because of all the store credit I had at BBV and GS. But now, minus the activation fee, you can take that store credit and use it anywhere.

I know in previous posts you said you were turned off by the idea of VVs turning flipping into a psuedo job, but I've kept my $100 card just for video game purchases. And it made buying 3.99 games at HWV that much easier since I had no credit there. :)

On a side note, this avatar business is driving me crazy. I know it's all in good fun, but I keep getting confused over who's writing what. It's made me realize how much I rely on avatars to identify CAGs.

I gotta agree with you on this one. Whereas before I would have ignored 1:2 cash flips from Target to BB, with VV I gladly do it since it is essentially using credit to double credit. As a result, more than likely, many of us will hit the trade limit much faster because the threshold for doing trades with poor ratios went down due to the implementation of the VV.

Wow, so I have hit up 3 GSs in Grand Rapids, MI today and I am very disappointed in that it looks like every store has been hit by a flipper. There wasn't a single viable flipping game at any of the three stores. I was devestated to see this. Hopefully I can find something at 2 more stores tomorrow.

EDIT: So, with the Gamecrazy coupon of buy any game 29.99 get any game 18.99 or less for free ( http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=207408 ) going on this week, does anyone know of any games that might make good flips? I have a GC up by school, but have only stepped foot in it one time and that was just to see if they were running the used game sale that HWV and MG were.

I hear ya. I hit the Alpine Ave, Caledonia (just off Kalamazoo Ave), and Wilson St. stores --- all of them have been wiped clean of any of the decent flipping fodder. Probably doesn't help that the Employee Appreciation promotion is going on along side the B2G1 promo. I'm sure there are some employees cleaning house right now.

Yeah, the VV's are definitely changing things up. The only reason I went to Best Buy to buy some blu-rays for $19.99 was that I was able to use the VV. Without that I would have passed. However, the RB2 sets are $109, making use of the VV not possible. Now, sure, I could buy them with a normal card, then buy groceries or something with the VV and say it 'counted' towards the RB2. But that is a slipperly slope that will tempt me into abusing this whole trade-in scheme - I'd be tempted to get too many other things with BBV credit turned into VVs. As it is, I must be dangerously close to the $10K cap.

About the avatars - yeah, I hear you. But since everyone else diluted the impact of my standard one I had to go to this one (which I've used before by the way). And now that that is being abused, I will have to go to my third one soon. I'm hesitant, though, since is is a picture of one of my kids. I'm scared to see what these guys do to that .

Yeah, I thought about that. What is the implication of logging in to both 360's, though? Do you have to recover the gamertag (which I've never done) every time you switch? I could see wanting to go back and forth a lot.

And CC might still have the what now? I must have missed that deal. There's a controller/20GB combo pack? I haven't been to CC in ages.

And wow - I am out of the loop as I've never heard of this flash memory thing. That makes sense though because a GS dude was telling a customer last night about the arcade version having some sort of integrated memory card which made no sense to me. I thought he was just misusing "integrated" when he meant "included".

In other news, the weather here means leaving my house is not a good idea. So much for going to Sears to get some Singstar bundles and trading that last Oblviion GotY. Hopefully that holds tomorrow.

Wait I sec, how did I just respond to you before your post appeared in the thread order?

Edit: and now I'm after you again. Does editing posts normally kick them to the bottom?

In any case, the little card holder agreement sheet has a section specifically covering Returned or Exchanged Merchandise. From what I read I should be fine. I'll just have to not use this card for a while till everything settles into place.

I just got off the phone with customer service and all the ordering and recrediting going on may take the card close to it's limit if it stacks at once. Good thing the only other thing I used this card for was one meal.

Also to totally allay any concerns.

from the FAQ (https://www.vanillavisa.com/faq.html) (it's number 8 actually but appears as number 1 in the quote. Weird.)

How are merchandise returns processed?
If you are entitled to a refund for goods or services obtained with your Card, you agree to accept credits to the Balance on your Card in place of cash. The credit will reflect on the Card within 30 days.

Note: Any credits that exceed the face value of the Card may be declined or take up to 30 days to process.

Save your gamertag on a memory unit, and just carry it back and forth between the two consoles. If you don't get one with a new Arcade, you can find them used at GS for under $40, and use cheap credit, of course.

CC has some "leftover" BF deal...refurb 20GB w/ wireless controller for $39.99. The new Jasper has 256mb flash memory (presumably for the NXE) in lieu of the 256mb memory card. Transferring the gamertag would be a pain, but you could always set your kids up with a silver account on the 2nd 360.

I'm kinda sad that GS dosent have a good promo this week though. I'm hoping Monster Jam's TIV held since it is such a cheap flip. Well, I had this grand plan to head out to Gamecrazy for the BBV trade-in price match of Oblivion, then head up to TRU to get Soul Bubbles for free ($9.99 + $10 GC) and perhaps pick up a PS3 RB2 if they still had them. Then I was going to go to the Mall to get some Singstar bundles at Sears. Oh, and then hit up a few HWV stores and maybe a Blockbuster to trade one of the Singstar bundles.

In reality, I made it all the way up to the GC (about half way to the Mall) and the road conditions were so bad I was slipping all over the place in the GC parking lot. I did manage to do the TIV price match so hooray on that. But then as I started to head up to the Mall, traffic on the freeway slowed to a crawl and it was because everyone had to put on chains. Not having any, and being in a 1995 Saturn, I got off the next exit, turned around and went home (very slowly). So I spent about an hour and a half driving to do a single $36.75 trade at Gamecrazy. I can't believe I had planned to do all that other stuff .

It will only be worse tomorrow as when I got home stuff started to freeze up (it was melting when I left which is why I thought I'd be OK - plus it was way worse up there than at home). I won't be able to head out tomorrow at all - probably not even locally.

I posted this in the TRU Soul Bubbles thread, but you guys may be more accomodating. I'd like to get that game nice n' cheap. If anyone is heading there I'd appreciate someone snagging me one. It is $9.99 and you get a $10 gift card with purchase. I'd pay for shipping plus a few bucks and you could keep the card of course. The sale/GC deal is only today and Monday, so I'm definitely going to miss out on that myself.

At least you didn't get stuck on a closed road for an hour like I did on Fri. (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5239698&postcount=354) (also, at least people seemed to actually acknowledge your story)

Chains? People there are pansies... And I though people who use snow tires were bad. ;)

I live in the hills of PA and when we get bad storms, the roads can go unplowed for hours. Nothing more exhilarating that driving down a steep grade (Eisenhower Blvd, for those who are local) with 1/2 foot of snow and very little traction. Makes me thankful for a manual transmission in my 98 Neon.

The giant Interstate traffic conditions sign said that chains were required in the metro area (and this was heading in). So they had to ;). Since I didn't have any, I had to turn around - though it was probably a good idea anyway.

EDIT: Ragnorok - I read your story the other day. That sounded like a nightmare. I was glad that I didn't really encounter any trouble - which was sort of the point I was trying to make (not very well I guess) ;).

Trade it to FYE for $12.50.

Well, I pretty much went whole hog on the "Hail to the Chimp" PS3 and Xbox360 trade-ins this weekend. I managed to find two of these at a going-out-of-business Circuit City (where you get an additional 40% off the already low $9 price). Turned $5 games for the 360 into $15 of BBV credit!

I also bought up HttCs at a couple other circuit cities (for the full $9 price) and turned each of these PS3 games into $16.

As of right now, I've managed to build up my Value Card credit to a bit over $100.

Couldn't find any of the Gamestop heavy hitters in the B2G1 deal like Oblivion, Legendary, or the Monster Jam games, unfortunately (in over five different locations) so my Value Card isn't building up anywhere near the kind of value I was seeing last year. . . but I'm not complaining. "Hail to the Chimp" has treated me well.

Io, I was just wondering if it would be possible to get these links added into one of the first posts for future reference.

Anticipating the B1G1 at BB next week, i've been scouting my local stores for stuff I want and stuff that might be flippable to GS.
I got one store that has Marvel Ultimate Alliance for PSP(14.99) and Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destrcution Xbox(12.99). I don't know if i'll get to playing them but i've been watching that MUA for PSP sit there since the last sale, waiting for it to drop in price.
I'll have to keep an eye out for DS games now too since my kids are playing them. "Smart Girls Club", "Nintendogs" and "Cooking mama" are all they play right now.
Going thru Gamestop TIV's, not much looks worthwhile with the current promo. Last time the sale at BB did not include Wii or PS3 games, even though they raised prices to make all of them over $14.99 anyway. This time around there are quite a few Wii games that would qualify, any insider knowledge if they are going to be part of the sale?

IO: could the original post add a glossary section of popular terms in this thread. I'd suggest "Kunai", "Capa", "Bukkake", "Jr. Detective", "TIV".

off topic: 15 wii sports sold, 10 to go. I keep raising the price and they still keep selling. Frickin' Wii-diculous.

I'd really appreciate the help. My BBVs dont always mark stuff down in a timely manner and I don't want to be too big of a pest asking constantly for price checks.

$9.99 is still just a little too much when VVs are around, but if they hit $7.49 or $4.99, I'll bite.

Thanks

"Bukkake", as in "Dragonball Z: Bukkake Trenchcoat 3". If you're trading in the Wii version, make sure you get one that doesn't have the bonus DVD. Blockbuster doesn't like Bukkake DVD's.

here's a BB/GR ? for you guys. I really took it to BB/GR back when GR first opened back in 2004/2005, with the trade 2 (later 3), get 1 for $4.99. Between going between them and GS (B2G1F for trade fodder), I am pretty sure I hit a 10k limit, since there were multiple BB/GR that I hit up. I will admit, that sometimes, I flipped the $4.99 BB/GR game back to them, b/c of the high TIV, and to keep my out of pocket expenses low. After that deal died though, the only time I bought anything from BB/GR was if there was a B1G1 or if I stumbled upon a cheap, yet rare game.

I decided to step back into the BB/GR waters, b/c I'm sitting on a lot of GS credit from HWV flips. I got a Legendary (PS3) and a Oblivion GOTY (360) to trade in. When I went back to a BB/GR, I didn't have my membership card, and the clerk "said" she couldn't pull me up by my driver's license or anything. Did she do me a favor and delete/ignore a possibly banned account, or do memberships get purged if not used in so long? She created a new account for me, and I got $71 for the 2 games. Just wondering, thanks for any answers in advance.

When I got back into flipping, there was one Gamerush I hadn't traded to in at least 3 years (the good ol TRU & CC flip days). They said my account wasn't setup for trades so I had to sign a new authorization. Wasnt a big deal. It just made me wonder if I was maybe previously banned at the store, as I didn't have any problem with the other Gamerush I went to.

Speaking of the CC Flips, I thought of a great game to go with Cranium Bukkake, Mark Ecko: Contents Under Pressure

Is the $10,000 trade cap actually confirmed? Does it really extend through the lifetime of flipping? I can't imagine that I'm not way past that.

To get $1000 at BBV in credit, for instance, I probably traded in about $700 worth of games from Gamestop. That $700 at GS probably came from about $400 at BBV. That in turn probably came from about 250 at GS which would have come from $150 at BBV which came from $100 at GS which came from $60 at BBV which probably came from like $30 cash.

The point is that to get $1000 in credit, I probably traded in about $1600 towards the cap.

When I was active in upstate NY, I once sold $2000 in gift cards on ebay, bought about $1500 worth of games to trade into Gamestop and preordered 5 360's, bought about 200 movies ($1000 in credit) and gave away about $1000 in giftcards. That's about $5500 in credit just there, and it probably totalled about $8000 or so in flipping to get there.

Down here in Florida, I have bought 3 PS3's ($1400 total), a wii ($275), 2 DS's ($250), 7 VV's ($700). This was all active flipping between BBV and GS so that $2600 probably came from about $4500 in trade ins. I also have had the 2 movie/game passes for 6 months now ($220) and bought a bunch of personal games to play ($300).

I do have the luxury of having 3 different accounts based on different government IDs, different addresses, and different credit cards, and I actively trade on all of them, but still on my old NY account I don't see how I couldn't have passed the $10000 mark.

Looks like the only casualty this week is finally Alone in the Dark Wii. Business as usual resumes with oblivion GOTY, Legendary, Monster Jam, Smash Court Tennis, and Singstar.

No but I never had any issue with employees looking it up manually. It's $8.99 used at GS - $15 TIV at BBV last I saw.

Its also only $9.99 NEW at GS so decent filler flip if you are looking at converting credit and making $4-$5 in the process ! PLUS it is far more readily available NEW vs USED. :D

Also, Monster Jam 360 is only $14.99 NEW and gets $22 TIV, also WIDELY available in multiples at GS stores..

Oh-Oh, we have 2 conflicting TIVs for this, which is correct? $6, or $22?

Obviously someone phoned-in for Quake Wars, and got the Quake 3 TIV from the employee by mistake. Same sort of thing happened to me: wanted to check out a review for the console versions in my back issues of Game Informer- couldn't find it, but then stumbled upon it by accident a few days later as "Enemy Territory - Quake Wars." I bet that's what it's called in their system.

Yes, it is in their system as that. He wanted to know the full title and soon as I said, "Enemy Territory" he said, "Oh, okay."

Got Disney Princess Magical Gems DS for $11.99 on clearance. Manager pointed out to me the clreance games, felt obligated to get something. Will be a good stocking stuffer.
More scouting for the B1G1.
DS Prof Layton $14.99 (GS TIV $10/$14 with bonus):)
GC Mario Baseball $14.99(GS TIV $7/$9.80 w/ bonus)blah
Xbox Family Guy $6.99 (GS 3.5/4.90)Not great buy at least a postive to pair up with Assassin creed or other $6.99 games.
Xbox Elder Scrolls Morrowind $6.99 (4.75/6.65) Only if it is GOTY edition

DS Final Fantasy 3. I think it was 9.99 at most, maybe 6.99. Either way that should be a small positve flip.

Need to find some PS2 games, but i think DS games will be good since it's hard for GS to justify a refurb fee on those.

I got lucky yesterday and kept finding multiples of Legendary and Oblivion GOTY. I expected to get asked why I was buying multiples but the clerks never batted an eye. Glad to see that Oblivion held since I was unable to trade in my last one along with a couple of other filler games.

Last week, I posted how a manager at a BB had denied IU for trade, due to the disc condition. Well, last night I went to trade Oblivion and Legendary to another nearby BB and guess who was there? I was being help by another clerk when he asked the "manager" guy for help with the trade. The manager looked over the disc and told me that he couldn't take Oblivion due to the disc's "condition". I agreed when he denied IU last week but Oblivion was in great condition. I think this guy must have worked at GS previously.

Anyways, my main concern is that he now knows that I trade in at multiple BBs. I traded Legendary 360 last week to him and traded Legendary PS3 last night. The first store is one where I have not been trading at for that long. I would guess 20 games total but the 2nd store is where I have traded heavily and have traded multiples (always atleast a week apart). So I guess I will have to wait to see if he does anything to my account.

TIV 12/15:

Bladestorm PS3 - $30
Infinite Undiscovery - $28.50

I use the covers from cdcovers.cc pretty often (once a month maybe, and most recently a copy of Legendary 360) and they have always worked swimmingly, even scan.

Thanks irish... Unfortunately, none of the previous listed 3 sites have Legendary PS3 cover art up, and I was unable to find it anywhere online.

I saw the two different TIVs for Quake Wars. I just traded it in at 10:30 am EST. Not sure why AitD dropped, but Quake Wars didn't. Strange things are amuck at the Circle K.

AitD dropped because the used price also dropped yesterday to 14.99. (which obviously doesn't mean the TIV has to drop (i.e. Sea Monsters, Bukkake))

Kunai and Capa walk into a bar.

Kunai goes up to the bartender and says "I'll take 10 beers." Bartender grabs 10 botltes of beer, rings him up, and goes "Damn, son, that's a lot of beer to drink." Kunai replies "They're not for me, I'm selling them to the bar down the street for 3x what I paid."

Capa stares at the tap, his eyes switching between handles. "You gonna order?" the bartender asks. "Yeah just gimme a sec," he responds. An older woman flags the bartender over- he grabs a bottle of beer and hands it to her. The bartender walks back to Capa. "Well, are you gonna order or what?" Capa points at the woman: "No thanks, my mom just got one for me."

Then io walks in and... I don't know, something involving bukkake.

Alert: New game markdowns
For some reason Blockbuster is selling a ton of not quite new release new games for sometimes significant discounts off of MSRP. Here's the list (may not be comprehensive):

My BBV store still has price stickers with the original sale prices on new games. Anyone know if the discounts listed in the original thread are effective at all BBV locations? TIVs are uniform and pushed to each store but are prices for new items also uniform at each store? Thanks

Should be nationwide at corporate stores (i.e. - not franchise locations). Many just don't update tags.

When I got back into flipping, there was one Gamerush I hadn't traded to in at least 3 years (the good ol TRU & CC flip days). They said my account wasn't setup for trades so I had to sign a new authorization. Wasnt a big deal. It just made me wonder if I was maybe previously banned at the store, as I didn't have any problem with the other Gamerush I went to.[/B]

If you are inactive for a year, I think, the trade account goes away. Remember, this is what got me in trouble with Beowulf last year and set off the Jr Detective. I no longer had a trade account at a store where I had traded before (had been over a year) and I was making casual conversation about how that has happened before - he took it the wrong way to mean that my account was removed before (since he didn't think they expired when they clearly do), and then he checked with some other stores about it and found out about the multiple Beowulfs.

Then io walks in and... I don't know, something involving bukkake.

Okay, I lol'd, but I think you're confusing io with Berzerker.

Yeah, leave me out of that please ;).

Well, it is still frigid and icy here, though the sun is out and making some of the ice sublimate (not melt as it is way too cold ;)). This means I can make it to my local BB 1/2 mile away, probably. But I won't be able to get out to any GS or other BBV stores, or to the Mall to get more Singstar bundles any time soon. Then it is supposed to snow again on Weds too. I might be stuck at home all week, essentially.

It's not too big a deal since I pretty much got all the Oblivion GotY around here anyway (all of 4 copies) and there have never been any Legendaries. Mostly I want to get out to check out the new shipments of used games at HWV and use the GS 30% deal to build that credit up. I may try to get out tomorrow when more of the ice is gone but the new snow hasn't shown up yet. I know there are tons of great games out there that I'm missing as I sit here doing nothing :bomb:. (Though, yeah, I have lots of real work to catch up on)

Hey everyone, I'm new to these forums and especially this thread. I was wondering if someone could briefly explain this process of flipping to a new person such as myself. buy games at one store for cheap, trade to another store for more. just keep an eye out here and read through this thread for trade in values (tiv) at stores and where they can be found cheap. keep an eye on the second post as that is really where the best values are posted.

mkernan
12-15-2008, 06:17 PM
Yeah, most of the time its buying used games with a coupon and Edge card at Gamestop when Blockbuster is offering a trade-in value higher than what you paid. Occasionally, you may be able to buy things used at Blockbuster and then trade them to Gamestop during a promo to come out even or sometimes just slightly ahead, thereby allowing you to cyclically repeat the process.

Also, clearance stuff at Target, K-Mart, Sears can be good places to find cheap stuff to "flip" to Blockbuster.

That's the general idea.

The "VV" you see reference to is a 'Vanilla Visa' pre-paid debit card that Blockbuster has recently started selling. That has allowed us to "cash out", which lets us buy flip fodder from anywhere we want (or just blow the money on other stuff). They also are now selling gift cards to a handful of restaurants, movie theaters, etc.

Well, yeah, the purpose of this thread is not flipping, though it may not seem that way most of the time. That's why I'm never going to put step-by-step instructions on the art of flipping in the OP. The second post, however, has some useful info once you learn the basics. But that you have to figure out for yourself. It's not really that hard, though, and Animal7390 and mkernan pretty much just covered it.

Agreed. Its not spelled out in the OP/second post because this isn't a flipper's handbook, its just a thread devoted to Blockbuster/Gamerush, where we happen to share information about flipping as well. Also, if we spelled it out for everyone, it could become far more rampant and end all our fun.

Mine arrived today, though I went out Saturday and bought some New copies using GS credit, and guess I'll try to return these copies I got. Only problem might be that GS sold me soundtrack editions, and the editions Amazon sent me are regular. Don't know if they'll question it or not. Would hate to be stuck with 3 copies of this game, or turning $30 on Amazon into $27 BBV.

Well, luckily one of them was a used copy, so hopefully shouldn't be too bad.

I know GS has their own stickers for the stuff marked new/used, so I was planning on telling them that I took off the stickers because they were gifts and I didn't want to be tacky, leaving the price stickers on. Plus I also have it on two different receipts (1 new/1 used on one receipt, and one new on another receipt) so I won't look odd trying to return 3 AITD's at once.

Edit: Also looked at the website. The box shot is of the non-soundtrack version, and the online portion mentions nothing about the soundtrack, so I don't know if I'd catch too much flack.

And I suppose worst case is I trade them to BBV, and try to recoup at least a decent portion of my lost revenue during the B1G1. Overall it wouldn't be horrible, considering I bought it using $30 of the VV I got with BB credit.

Just remember, in the grand scheme of things, you're still hundreds, if not thousands, ahead. This is why I tend to steer away from online flips, since shipping can be very dicey. I'm surprised AitD held its value for as long as it did, I believe it was a viable flip for at least 5-6 weeks. I know I traded in 15-20 copies by the end of the Thanksgiving B2G1 sale.

I was in this same boat too with my alone in the dark from Gamefly. That said, I never made it by a target or walmart to look for them since I checked UPC at a GS store and they have the Special Soundtrack edition ONLY released at Gamestop. Trade 1 a day at different stores. Then wash-repeat days later. Also, you may as well get HWV and BBV trade in prices. They should give you a quote over the phone.

All you need is games to match them up with if you are looking for the extra 40%. You should be able to get some of these over at the HWV/MG sale for $3.99. You need base value of about $3.00 to push. ;)

That said, I am assuming you got them for free after giftcard so it really is all profit for you.:applause:

If you are planning on buying and returning to BB, do you know for sure that they will do a return, or if all sales are final like their dvds? They may do all sales are final and just exchange defects.

You can only return if it's defective within 30 days, and they will exchange with same game or giving you their rental copy. But if it's the last one, they'll give your money back. or buy more games on the spot, and they might let you return it.

Best Buy does carry them (AitD) new.
Actually, I purchased 3 of them at Best Buy and returned them today when my Amazon order arrived earlier.

Hm, well, I guess I'll give it a try at one of the GS's I almost never go to. It just seems odd, since I never see GS scan the bar code, but rather they scan the stickers that they have.

I don't know if those are unique to GS or if they just integrate the original, but I should be able to at least return my used copy, since GS doesn't seem to distinguish most of the time what edition it is; just whether it is used or not.

Edit: Actually, just leaning toward trading my 2 new copies to BB. It'll be a 40 GS to 18 BBV credit, so I lose 22 in GS credit, but I guess I could try to recoup that during the B1G1 if GS runs the 2/$20 simultaneously, once the 5/30% ends on 12/25

So after using some Toys R Us giftcards to start a Bubble chain and visiting a couple stores. I've got 9 copies of Soul Bubbles that I'm not sure what to do with. Was hoping to drop them at GameStop for this tiered trade in thing but it seems a lot of Gamestops won't take muliples of the same game. I'm thinking of holding onto them and mixing them in with the upcoming BBV B1G1 deal.

FYE pays $10 cash or $12.50 credit for em, so that might be your best bet.

Is there a CAGer around me in Royal Oak, MI? Friday there was about 4 stores around me with O:GOTY copies and now there's none. It's no biggie, just trying to see who it is.

I cleaned out the Hoover and 11 mile store.

I also purchased a $100 VV card today with my credit...not issues.

Also, what is this about B1G1 free deal at Blockbuster???? What are the stipulations and when is it supposed to happen? Used or new games?

Sweet, I'm an artist.

Well, notice how I said "step-by-step instructions for the art of flipping". That means it is more of a paint-by-numbers kind of art ;).

Jealous at all the free Soul Bubbles everyone is getting - I couldn't quite get out today. I am going to try to get out early tomorrow (so I can be back before it gets dark and I can't see the ice any more). The roads in my town were pretty good but I have a long way to go to get to the HWV and GS stores. We're supposed to get more snow Weds so tomorrow may be my only window for game stuff the entire week. I may miss an entire cycle of BBV trading - gasp!

But a CAG is hooking me up with a Soul Bubbles for the tax + shipping so at least I didn't miss out entirely.

Mercenaries 2 for the PS3 only got me $26; I picked it up at BBuy with the coupon. Eh, $6 is $6. I did also successfully trade another SingStar Bundle for $36 after finding another Sears with two each of vol. 1 and Amped.

I picked up a used Rainbow Six Vegas 2 CE for $5.33 ($7.99 with B2G1) on Black Friday from GameCrazy and tried to trade it at BBV when I realized that I'd likely never get to play it; they couldn't scan it and they quoted me $8 after doing a manual lookup (Which I suspect was for the original R6V, not R6V2).

So its sitting on my shelf with my $5.33 Assassin's Creed, Ico, and Castlevania DXC from that same sale.

Not quite as quick as Infinite Undiscovery.

It's because they get abysmal reviews and sell so poorly.

Some people attribute that to the failure to timely release a strat guide. IU sales picked up when the brady strat guide released, then they spiked down again, prompting the price drop. :) We call those people, crazy :)

I've been waiting for the 1.30 patch. With COD: WaW though, SOCOM seems... superfluous. I'll hold onto it though. I've got 2 Bluetooth headsets and a USB headset so I'm not sure the SOCOM headset would be useful, I feel almost compelled to but it regardless though.

A) I'm not acting like an ass. Reading the same lazy question from you for 3 consecutive days is obnoxious. So obnoxious that I'm tempted to call and ask myself, but I refuse to do that. C) Call a different store if your local ones are not giving you a satisfactory answer.

Besides, just hoping one of us had noticed the price in passing is far from foolproof, considering how terrible most stores are at updating tags.

Just in case anyone's interested. Used price for MKvsDC Universe is $32.99. Very odd for it to be that low already. The problem is, your store will most likely not have those unless someone traded it in recently. The previously played street date for it is in February.

And Spiderman 3 (BR) TIV is $3...>_> Someone actually traded that in the other day. THREE WHOLE DOLLARS. It sells for $29.99 USED. Amazing if you ask me.

And again, most stores will not have used BR movies for sale unless they are traded in. Street date for most of them is sometime in 2010. I know that Spiderman 3 will only go from rental to previously view(for sale) sometime in 2010. Same goes for lots of other movies.

And now I really have to go to bed... First final tomorrow. Not looking forward to it at all.

Hahaha...well, gearing up for the big pre-and-post X-mas storm, being in a strange area and finding two Sears, two GameStops, and a Target instead of the BBV I was looking for, I decided to invest some of my credit in something other than flippables.

I bought two huge maps and a cork board. When I get the other three boards (the maps are way more huge than expected) and some more colors of pushpins, I'm going to have a nice little "CAG Command Center" in my room/office after being set back a total of about $50 in VV.

The benefit? Every CAG hotspot (BBV, BBY, GS/EB, TRU, Kmart, Target) clearly marked. If I'm flipping, I'll know exactly where on my route stores with unrelated hot deals are (for example, Best Buys for penny guides I normally wouldn't go to, but would encounter between Blockbusters).

Yeah, I could probably do it all digitally, but its easier to do this physically and then transfer pertinent addresses to my GPS; then its always up and easy to just look at, no power or internets required.

Also, yeah, we need some srs banhammerings.

Mercs may have been a consequence of rental copy numbers.

Just curious as to what are the nifty features that the headset has? I have it and was just wondering!

The official PS3 bluetooth headset has pretty good sound quality for starters. When you connect, disconnect, adjust volume, or mute, you will see on-screen notifications that reflect whatever you did (other headsets don't do that). It has a special 'HQ' mode where apparently it sounds even better, if a game is specifically designed to support this HQ mode. It can be used as a open-air room mic if you turn it on while its sitting on the charging cradle; that way you can still use it as a mic while its charging. I think that's it.

Sorry that was kinda OT. But yeah, its a nice little headset. The volume doesn't seem to go up quite as high as I like it, but I don't know if that's a headest limitation or if I'm just half-deaf.

Can it be used with a normal phone?

Yeah, I read that post... but I didn't realize they dropped those games. I know Too Human is still 54.99 used as of last week... so it should be getting a good TIV too.

Mercs may have been a consequence of rental copy numbers.

Wow... some good DS drops too
Space invaders Extreme @ 7.99 (wish I had seen this in the b2g1 sale... i would have grabbed it rather than a third smash court). Probably not a huge TIV, probably in the 4-6$ range at BBV.
Kage Densetsu 2 @ 8.99

Is there a thread for the drops? I tried viewing all used games and selecting 'price drops' but none of the non 360 games are showing for me.

Tak would be a good flip to FYE should there be a coupon. FYE Pays $16 cash, 20 credit, or 23.20 pre-order.

Man, Fedex is retarded. Gamefly is in Tampa, same as me. The tracking information for my games shows as going from the Tampa FedEx Location to Orlando (an hour and a half away) last night, back to Tampa this morning and its on its way to me. That 3 hours they spent driving it to Orlando & back could've just been them driving it to my house a few minutes away...

Hey guys, I asked this before but didn't get any response back on it. What 'storm' is everyone referring to coming up at BBV? Is it the BOGO for $14.99 and under games? What makes it so great, just the fact that there's games that will yield high TIV at GS?

I have to figure out what I am going to buy at BB with over $1000 in credit and they won't let me get the VV at the two local BBs in my area.

Anyone have any suggestions.

Yes, the official PS3 headset can be used with a normal phone. I also forgot to mention that it does automatic pairing to a PS3 when you simply plug it in over USB (much like a PS3 controller does).

Yes, BOGO used $14.99 and under. Supposedly starting the 23rd. What makes it so great is that the credit you've built by doing GS -> BBV can then be recycled back BBV -> GS, perhaps at a gain, to continue the GS -> BBV process all over again, ever increasing your amount of credit, provided you have enough product to work with.

I'm not sure whether you mean buy for yourself or buy to try and cash out. Either way, a PS3 might be a good choice. You can sell it to somebody via craigslist for a little under retail and it ought to sell relatively quickly. DS Lites work well for that too. If any of your stores still have a Pokemon edition DS Lite sitting around, those are pretty hard to find now I think. And there's always Wiis like ragnorok64 points out.

Or, just venture further out to find a store or employee who will let you buy a VV with store credit. As many others have previously pointed out (and as I've done myself a number of times), just swipe your value/gift card as soon as you can and they might not even notice you're using one versus a regular credit card. It's been stated that value/gift cards will process properly even if the employee pushes debit or credit on their end.

Thanks for the advice, I was thinking about getting a ps3. I really want a PSP, but my BBs don't carry them.

All my local stores do... you might try calling the next furthest handful of stores and see if you find one not too far out of the way that has a PSP in stock.

I wish I had the same problem.... the temptress vanilla visa has robbed me of every last cent of BBV and GS store credit I had.

I'm going with mkernan here, if the VV is really what you want, just travel a little further. If you plan on selling items you buy from BBV in order to cash out, you'll likely have to do some additional traveling to sell them (for example meeting up with a craigslister). Also, don't forget the excellent advice of simply swiping your Value card as the transaction is starting before the cashier even has the opportunity to question it. GL!

I almost bought a ps3 and DSLite a second ago. I just need to spend my credit and get out of the flipping business. Spending way too much cash on flipping games.

You could always just hang on to the credit and have all the big releases of '09 (and possibly beyond) paid for.

With that much credit, you can flip without using any cash. That's if you still like flipping. I told myself I'd stop because of all the time I spend, but it keeps drawing me back ... :)

Hmm... cool dude, thanks. I bought Mario and Luigi as stocking stuffers for my daughter, but maybe I'll end up snagging myself a couple for my desk. The Gears figures are more tempting at $10 too.

I don't know if any of my stores still have the Wall-e figures, but I might grab one if they do. My daughter has Wall-E, is getting EVE in her stocking.... so maybe I'll get another (I think I saw the captain figure a while back).
