Considering that I get most of my promo info from CAG and not Gamestop Corporate, I'm assuming that there's no way for me to get info ahead of time for you guys.

I hate it when one GR I trust gets their information wrong (or deliberatly misleads me), so after the main GR, close to where I work shot me down around 3:30pm yesterday telling me per the DM the sale did not start yet, I decide to stop at another BBV on my route home, only to discover yes the sale is in full effect for BBV's in the same district. Of course I'm too far away from the first GR to turn around and try again. I bet the place was stripped by the employee's :(

Yeah, I think anything that's even the slightest positive flip is worth buying before the 24th, because at the very least you can trade in using the current promo. I wouldn't want to risk the others, though, because you're pretty boned if the bonus $10 doesn't come back.

Thanks for the heads up... I actually bought a used copy the day it dropped to $14.99 (like 2-3 weeks ago). They only had one, so it might not have hung around til this BOGO (which I didn't know was coming up at the time anyway). Because to flip Singstar, you're using cash. You're not really raising any more suspicion than you are trading in Singstars all day. With BBV, you get a variety of games to trade in. I'm not going to trade in more than one of the same title at any BBV. That's more suspicious than anything.

Basically what you described was our perfect storm months ago except the bonus was an extra $10 for two next gen titles traded in (instead of the 40%) which actually ends up being much better for some of these titles.

Keep in mind that the perfect storm was before Vanilla Visas, and Vanilla Visas opened up all kinds of new flipping opportunities.

While I agree that this isn't the BEST opportunity in the world, I'm in a situation where I have zero K-Marts, one Sears far away, and a crappy Target, so my cash flipping opportunities are more or less non-existent. Furthermore, I was down to $0 at GS and a measly $20 at BBV and there's not even any decent used games at GS near me to flip. So, what I've done, is I used that measly $20 BBV to buy 4 games last night, trading those plus an old cheapo of my own to GS today. Then from there I'm just gonna buy new copies of Legendary and Monster jam to flip back to BBV to repeat once or twice.

It's not much return considering the leg work, but I either do that or I do nothing. If I wait for this rumored trade 2, get $10 promo, all the BOGO fodder at my BBV stores might be gone, so I'm going to at least do a little today and try to leave a little bit behind for when that promo comes back.

Anybody have any solid info on how long this BOGO is going to last?

Only flipping I've done is on the Oblivion GotY edition to BBV and first store refused me (probably because I went in with more than one copy), but second store had no problem with it. Don't know if I have the stamina to keep up with up with it continuously though, so it's good to hear people's success stories since we're just gamers in the end of the day.

You're ignoring the risk you're taking by trading in multiple Cranium Kabookiis. I'm not taking that risk.

I've already traded in Cranium Kabooki into every Blockbuster in my area. Some of them twice by accident. I'm not getting myself flagged. Like I said, Vanilla Visa did open up a whole bunch of opportunities, but you assume that it's actually a lot of work to visit these establishments. I pass by five Gamestops and four Blockbusters on my daily commute to work. Doing this would take maybe a half hour longer than going to Sears, which is actually out of my way.

I was just there looking at what games they have and the little punk manager was on the phone with another BB. This is what i heard from him. Someone went in trying to buy all the GTA IVs. Supposedly they where not priced right and who ever it was told them they had bought other copies at a different BB and showed them the receipts to have the prices changed.

The manager was calling other BB's to warn them as if a horrible crime was committed :bomb:. He even gave a description: 5 foot 2 Filipino and wearing a red polo(?) he even went on to say what car you where driving. I have been accused of stealing the games i've traded before and absolutely hate this BBV and advise to stay clear of it. The manager also said he had 1 more to call too. This is complete BS and i hope the CAG that went there reads this. Was it you FoS i know you live in AZ?

Some truth to this. Its against bbv store policy to purchase more than 2 of a particular game !! Found this out today by asking a bud of mine who works there. Says its to prevent dealers. But its the bbv employee fault for not knowing this and allowing him to buy that many. Gamestop has the EXACT same in store policy. LIMIT 2. GS just doesnt enforce it--(KNOW THIS FOR A FACT).

Personally, I can understand managers getting upset - it's not about stopping a deal - but they have a vested interest in spreading the deal to as many customers since a lot of their customers don't just buy to flip - they rent, etc - make a profit for them - and deals like this keep those customers coming back and happy. If one guy comes in and buys all the copies of one game them all is left is crappy games and the sale does not serve it's purpose of bringing in customers.

It is BB fault though because they should put limitations on the deals - only one copy of a game per deal - 3 deals per customer - things like that.

And for the record I'm all for limitations - I usually just buy games I want to play or gift so it is annoying to know people out there buying up the the best games jsut to flip for credit.

PS2- Sonic Riders Zero Gravity = 8.05
So I spent $45.20 including tax, in GR credit and got $66.85 in GS credit. Then I rinsed, lather and repeated Oblivion:Goty,Monster Jam and Smash Court Tennis 3 to GR for a total of $72 for those 3 games. Not bad for 30 min of work! Thanks to all of you for posting prices and TIV's.

I think it all depends on the manager, and sales. At the BBV's I go to regularly the only ones that take disk only are the ones that sell games teh most, most BBV's dont want a disk only copy of a game when they have a complete copy that has been sitting on the shelf for months.

Getting Dual disc cases is going to be a challenge. I've got one looking presentable by cannibalizing the case from the Lego Indy/ Kung-Fu panda that came with my Xbox.

Here's my current plan. I'll trade in the one with map that I've put into the Kung-Fu Panda case. Use that credit to buy 2 of something cheap that's 2 disc and in one box. Swap those around so that the other two Oblivions can be in original Xbox cases. Laser print out the cover art for Oblivion GOTY on some photopaper at work, trade the crappy games back to a gamestop in the crappy gamestop cases, and trade the remaining Oblivions to another BBV.

It's whether or not they'll take games without manual that's the big swing factor.

I just called a store and had them look up the regular edition of Oblivion. Here's what they said the selling prices were:

360: $19.99 used / $29.99 new
PS3: $14.99 used / $17.99 new

So, if that info is to be believed, the 360 obviously wouldn't be part of the BOGO but the PS3 one would (maybe whoever reported $9.99 just came across a mistag).

Yeah, that was me - I'll check it out today but I suspect it was a mistag (of what, I'm not sure - this isn't like RSV2 vs RSV1). They'd probably honor it, but not for the B1G1 so that makes it somewhat useless.

I hate it when one GR I trust gets their information wrong (or deliberatly misleads me), so after the main GR, close to where I work shot me down around 3:30pm yesterday telling me per the DM the sale did not start yet, I decide to stop at another BBV on my route home, only to discover yes the sale is in full effect for BBV's in the same district. Well, it looks like Dark Sector (360 at least) is not worth flipping this time around. Although its only $9.99 at BBV (hence $5 if part of BOGO), it now only trades to GS for $2.50.

However, I think Spiderwick Chronicles for 360 is $9.99 used at BBV (according to io's list in the OP). I just called GS and was quoted $7 for it. So:

Everyone can agree that this isn't the best promotion going on unless someone finds the best gems to trade in. The work being put in does not warrant a ratio of 2.9. When in fact someone can buy a singstar bundle with the new VV card to flip back an everlasting cycle. Heck i just picked up Cranium Kabooki for a 3.2 ratio easily.


Yeah, but the Singstar bundles are a PAIN IN THE ASS and a great way to get a Junior Detective on your case. I've traded 2 myself - 1 each to 2 different districts. I don't need them comparing notes at their weekly district meetings about getting this weird thing to sell and how to package it, etc - only to have them find out they were all traded on the same day by the same person or some such nonsense. I actually have 2 more but I'm trying to ebay them (probably for less than $36 in the end).

You are good on 2 of the 3 for sure - they won't care about the cases or manual. They are just sticklers for needing a damn bar code to scan. You can print the Obvliion GotY cover that edavis (I think) just uploaded to cdcovers.cc and you are good to go. As long as it looks half decent they won't care one bit.

Just saw your more recent post - no need to mess with the 2-disc cases. Just stack them in together in a single disc case.

I'm not so sure. the cases they came in are pretty crappy. One is chipped and the other two don't seem to want to close all the way. I'm about to Shift Infinite Undiscovery into the Blue Dragon (Got it free too with my 360) case. Blue Dragon into a crappy case, and on of the Oblivions into the Infinite Undisovery case.

I was hoping to trade in these Oblivions so I'd have credit to buy some game from BBV to flip tomorrow. I may just do Cash flip at BBV and ask for some extra 360 cases at Gamestop. They always seem to have extra and it's their crappy cases that have me in this bind.

Also, good new/bad news on a few Wii games. I just called Gamestop and Spiderwick Chronicles is a whopping $8 while Super Swing Golf Season 2 is just $2.

I like those kinds of prices, though, because it means Spiderwick is a definite purchase whether the $5 bonus for Wii games happens or not, while SSG S2 is NOT a good purchase given either GS trade-in deal.

Of course, I bought one of those for myself a few weeks ago for $9.99 (no B1G1). I could try a return/repurchase I guess as my local store may accomodate that but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.

Also, good new/bad news on a few Wii games. I just called Gamestop and Spiderwick Chronicles is a whopping $8 while Super Swing Golf Season 2 is just $2.

I like those kinds of prices, though, because it means Spiderwick is a definite purchase whether the $5 bonus for Wii games happens or not, while SSG S2 is NOT a good purchase given either GS trade-in deal.



Well, damn. I'm happy I took a chance on Spiderwick for the Wii, but I bought 2 copies of SSGS2, thinking that if the old one got $4 (from GS thread) surely this one got $6 or more. Oh well. he said it was a franchise location, the only franchise location around here has some F'd up pricing, sometimes they sell Previosly viewd stuff for $10 straight across the board, sometimes(like right now) they have all their Previewed 360, Wii, and PS3 games marked from $50-$55 across the board. It's weird. I used to pick up practicaly new games there for $10-$15 all the time before they raised their prices.

Yeah, I couldn't get out to a GS tonight (and good thing I didn't try as it started snowing as I pulled in to my driveway after a run to my local Blockbuster). So I only picked up 3 copies - 2 PS3 and 1 360. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to trade the 360/PS3 combo at a GS, and I still have some HWV stuff to make 2 sets so I should be fine there. I suppose I could get another 360 copy but there weren't any other $14.99 games to pair up with it.

Well, it is useless for flipping and I have a mint collector's edition I just got from Gamestop. Even if I got them to adjust and override the B1G1 it is still just a $5->$8 base flip which is good but nothing worth going through a lot of trouble for. I looked at the disc and it was in pretty bad shape and I just straight up told the guy I think it is mistagged - sure enough, it is supposed to be $19.99. He didn't offer to override it and I didn't ask.

However, I did return the Super Swing Golf Season 2 I bought about 3 weeks ago and repurchase it with the games I got today - essentially gettting $5 back on that, so that was nice. I picked up a whole bunch of stuff, including some cheapies for the PS3 that I'll probably keep for my new PS3. I got Genji (think this may be a copy I traded in long ago) and PotC both at $9.99, and one I haven't seen mentioned before - Lair for $14.99. I have a sealed copy that I can look into selling now. I also got several Wii things I'll be saving for GS next week (Table Tennis, Manhunt, Nights, THPG, and one that is iffy - Battle of the Bands).

All in all, my local store has a pretty damn good selection of used games compared to the two I went to last night. And it appeared as if they were virtually untouched. The only game I didn't see anywhere was Orange Box which I knew they had a few weeks ago, anyway.

BBV as a company stinks. They have no set rules about anything. DMs and store managers have free reign to do whatever they want. I mean one store manager told me to "chill out" on purchasing games on credit. REALLY? Is this acceptable from a store manager. DMs are no better having the power to ban and unban people at will. I think alot of this has to do with employees not knowing the damn rules. Heck, Im in a BBV atleast 3x a week and i still dont know the damn rules outlined by corp. Every store seems to just make up their own rules. One store only takes 4 of the same game. Another only 2. Some stores dont take games without instruction manuals. The list goes on and on. 1 store is currently preventing me from trading by pretending to look up the game in the computer and telling me they have too many. Then when i call up the store later they tell me they dont have any of that game.

I did the same a week ago or so and it was well worth it. The Collector's Edition I found at GS was clearly brand new - I think they just gutted a new copy and sold it as used for some reason. It was complete right down to the warranty card and still sealed-in-plastic coin. I was wondering if this would be the case at a lot of other GS stores too. So... I was at work today and I was bored as hell. I started to go through our selection of games to rent and I found the spot my manager puts all the trade-ins in. Funny part about it? A flip doesn't have to be from GS to BBV. A flip can be from any store/person to any other store/person. As long as you make a profit on it, it can be labeled a "flip." When we label a flip as a 2x flip or a 1.5x flip all we mean is the ratio of said flip. Lets say you buy a game for $10 and trade it in for $20. You got two times what you paid for it so it is a 2x flip. To keep things simple in this thread, we go by the ratios instead of the profit.

In other news, it appears the Thursday GS trade-in price adjustments have led to even more increases in the TIVs for many games, especially the older stuff. KOTOR II is up another 50 cents to $7.75 (after I just traded one last night - oh well). So is Conker (up to $6), which I actually saw at my BBV today.

Xfactor posted some new stuff, too, including a few BBV staples.

:wii: Pinball Hall of Fame is $14.99 -> $6, so not too good, though better once the $5 extra for Wii games starts.

However, here is one I didn't even consider buying and they have multiples of:

I'm nearly out of credit but I've got $100 at GS and a stack of games to trade both there and at BBV. As soon as I build up a little more, they've got some Yu Gi Oh pin sets on clearance for $0.49, I think I'll get a $50 + $5 with my credit and buy 10 of them to bring to Toys For Tots. I also saw a buttload of $4 GBA games at a Sears that I might hit up for toy drive stuff if I can find the time and credit.

I also need to shave off $106 so I can get a VV to spend on those yummy BioShock figures and lithographs before they go all OOS. I blew through all of my BBV credit rather quickly, but I added a quick 20 games to my collection, a dozen or so for trade/eBay/Goozex fodder, and, as I said, I've got $100 left at GS and a stack of games to trade to each, probably for another $150 or so at each location.

I'm really glad I only traded one of my SS Amped from Sears to GS; I threw the spare up on Half.com this morning and it sold for $30 tonight, much better than the $12 or so after bonuses at GS. And, in the interest of maintaining a nice library for casual gamers and parties, I decided to keep a PS3 SingStar (a decision reached after checking the massive list of DLC available for it via Wikipedia).

Ugh this couldn't have happened at a worse time...its finals week, we had a wake/funeral this past weekend so I declined flipping (well, signficiantly reduced it) to spend time with my family, who is driving me up the wall regarding decorating (every time I offer to come by and help my mom doesn't want me to, and every time I'm busy she calls to ask why I'm not there putting things in or out of the attic), and its my little brother's birthday tomorrow today.

On the plus side, though, I did pay for most of my holiday shopping with flips (VVs used @ Target and BBV for those sweet $30 Guitar Hero bundles, various GCs from BBV, etc.), which is why I'm really reluctant to stop -- I still want to get things for people.

And this is turning into a blog post, but I found a copy of the Silent Hill graphic novel UMD for $11 at GameCrazy while meeting a CraigsList person on my flipping route (28 complete NES games, 8 complete GB cames, mint black label FF7, Tactics, MGS, Resident Evil 2, and some other odds and ends for $70). My girlfriend is a huge survival horror fan and is going to be thrilled with that, even though I keep saying I'm done with her Xmas shopping and buying her more stuff (she even got her main gift early...but she's an animator and collects Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks films, and I found a couple dozen that she doesn't have and wanted during the GS sale).

Oh and my GameCrazy is total garbage. They quoted me $2ish each on Alone in the Dark (Wii) and Table Tennis (Wii) and tried to sell me an MVP to get an extra $0.20 on them. So much for "More for your trades, guaranteed!" :roll: I'm almost embarassed to own stock in them now.

It was $14.99 when I bought it yesterday. As for VF5, it is one of the better 360 games as it gets $7 at GS (or $9.80 - a near 2x after the 40%). I picked up a PS3 version yesterday thinking it would be good, too, but it only gets $5. So I'm going to keep the PS3 version and get rid of the 360 version I got during the last B1G1 (or sometime thereafter - I don't remember - just know I got one to keep from BBV). I won't ever play it online and it is probably one of those games I'll never come close to getting many achievements in, so I might as well save it for the new PS3 so I have some actual games to play on it besides LBP and Uncharted ;).

Edit - OK, just checked my spreadsheet and I actually paid the full $9.99 for VF5 in October. For some unknown reason I was buying lots of full-priced (ie, $10) stuff at BBV and trading it to GS and making these kinds of transfers: $46.95 -> $61.30, $26.97 -> $30.95, etc. (it was during the $5 bonus for 2 games promo at GS). I mean, it was just bouncing credit back and forth, so it didn't really cost me anything, but, man, I wouldn't bother with that kind of ratio now, especially with the VVs around!

Seriously, though, buying that many GTA's would be easy. They had at least that many just at my local store and if I wanted to they would let me buy them all to get rid of them I'm sure. The problem is they are tough to trade without padding with 3 other titles - so you are looking at 16 different GS trades to get rid of all those PS3 copies. Unless, of course, you continue in your Capa/Kunai ways and find a GS that lets you trade them all at once - something I've never had the nerve to think of asking. I feel like I'll be pushing it trading a single PS3/360 pair as part of my 5 games. That's why I only bought 3 total today (2 PS3, 1 360).

Holy mother of god! That's a lot of credit to turn. I used most of mine up for RB2 bundle a couple of months ago and havent flipped since.

I got two O:GotY, a Legendary, and a Monster Jam that I picked up over a week ago and havent had a chance to trade in. I hope there are some games left to pick up when I go trade them in. Although, I may just hang on to what I buy and wait for the trade 2 get $10 extra or the Wii ones after xmas.

I see 6 or 7 of the Wii titles that are 9.99 and trade for $8 each like Manhunt 2 and Table tennis etc, so presumably that will turn into $10 > $26 per pair if the values hold. Even lower value stuff like Ninja Reflex, pick up two of them and that's $10 > $20. Pretty decent.
