So, was Viking down to $14.99?
Gamespot is a review website. Gamestop is the store.
sorry, i get the two confused...the one bb had it marked for 9.99, though it rang up for 19.99, he discounted it.
i'm a newbie when it comes to this whole trade in deal. i've been reading the thread...sounds like you can legitimately trade in 4 copies of the same game for trade in credit. how does that work? does each store set their own policy?

I have two BBV's near my house, neither had the B1G1 sell. They both had signs for "Buy 5 DVDS or Games for $25" and the word game blocked on all the signs! :(
Kunai must have been working there.

Do NOT try to trade 4 copies of the same game to the same store, if you do you are risking a ban. Maybe 2 per store but if you have alot of stores near you (like many of us do) 1 is best.

I went into my BBV and a sign said B2G2F. I ignored it like the people suggested on this thread but when I went to checkout they would not let me B1G1 when I had only two games.. Jeez. What's the deal?
Whatever, they didn't even have 1 copy of GTA so I wasn't really disappointed.

I wasn't aware of this sale when I stopped by Blockbuster yesterday, but was surprised to find what a did.
A complete used copy of Pikmin 2, non players-choice.
A complete copy of FFX.
Total after $7.38 left on my gift card? $3.41. Can't complain about that.

Got:
Fear Files and Virtua Fighter 5: Online (both 360, $10)
No More Heroes and Bully: Scholarship Edition (both Wii, $15)
Would've gotten Beautiful Katamari but the copy was "gutted" (disc only).
Woud've gotten Fear, but I'm currently borrowing that from a cag.
Tip (may have been posted):
Super Mario Galaxy is going for $20 used
$50 giftcard nets you a free $5 giftcard
Thanks for posting the deals, cags.

From who exactly?
Pickings are getting slim at BBV. I picked up :psp:Patapon, :psp:Lumines, :360:Virtua Fighter 5 Online, and :ps2:Suikoden V. I'll keep Suikoden for myself.
I was close to picking up a :ps3: GTA IV but I wasn't sure if Gamestop would take it at the same time as a :360: GTA VI.
Why would they have a problem with you trading in GTA 4 and GTA 6? It's not like they're the same game... ;)

ok, so ban is confirmed, and it seems like my other account was banned as well, hard to beleive as that account's volume was low, but I had the store check. The second account may even have been closed, the manager insinuated as much, but she was confused in general so I will not be able to confirm until monday. If thats true, the ban must have been put in place Friday afternoon. They better not have closed the other account as I have 80$ in store credit on it. As to trading habits, just be be clear I only ever trade 1 game to any 1 store, but I have traded up to 6 of a specific game to 6 different stores in a single day. So sure, the trade agreement of 2 per day could be interpreted as 2 system wide, or 2 per store. I would argue per store as I had to sign a trade agreement at every store, and GS doesn't ask you to do any such thing. I do however think the wild ride is over, I will have my wife set up an account (different credit card), hopefully they don't go so far as to match address as well. So I guess GameCrazy pricematching is my future, that will certainly slow down my profiteering.
Good luck to everyone else.

fuck, I'm sure I'm banned too. I'll have to check.
Wow, banhammers all around, eh? I figured I was good, but then, I don't really know as I haven't traded since Dec. 12th. I'm certainly not going to bother with the last NBA 08 that I have here (as I've done a couple already). I'd open and trade the Golden Axe that I have as I haven't done any of those yet, but I really don't want to be stuck with it ;). I guess I could always GC price match that one though.
So let's get a quick tally going...it seems that king007, stoned1999, and xfactor4 all got banned by corporate yesterday...anyone else?
Looks like BBV is taking a page out of Bungie's book and dropping the Banhammer!!! :bomb:
OMG DID YOU GUYS MISS ALL OF MY POSTS? Seriously. Crackdown.
I was told it was actually from Loss Prevention.
I would warn everyone that every game you trade in is saved in the corp database. I told the lady i had never traded in more than 4 games per store which i had not, but the lady said thats true but you have traded in 4 of the same game to 3 different stores which meant i had traded in a total of 12 of the same game. Corp now can monitor every thing you trade so watch out or create multiple accounts. She had in front of her every game i had traded in since Dec 3. So i dont really know if its the latest games that are saved or if she could see further back but she only referenced my trades since Dec 3.
It doesn't sound like any of these are $10k limit bans - just account activity reviews. Luckily, the weather has kept me from doing too much recently. Since Dec 3rd I have done a total of 7 trade transactions with my only duplicates being 3 NBA 08, 2 Singstar bundles, and 2 Monster Jams (and no more than 1 at any one store).
In any case I'm snowed in so I'm not doing any purchasing or trading any time soon.
How can you tell a corporate store?? I can not find 1 copy of GTA 4 360 at my two local Blockbusters.
Both BBV I went to have all their $14.99 games in a dump bin. I went through them both, no dice.
Are you sure they had all of them there? Many stores that haven't retagged GTA IV yet would not have them in the dump bin - you always have to look around the rental stacks as they now seem to be stashing used games there (by system).
Wow, so you brought 2 games up and they simply refused to ring you up? That's some great customer service there! Because it would have been automatic if you had. You could go back there when different people are working and just try it - don't say anything about the B1G1 or B2G2. If the total is $14.99 just smile and pay and get out. If not (for some reason - like they override it manually) just say you decided you didn't want them after all.
Xfactor4
12-20-2008, 06:55 PM
Well we can't both of hit the limit on the same day, so they must be running a sweep of all the super active accounts. Xfactor what state are you in ?

Damn. Glad I havent traded anything since October. BTW, I went to 5 BBVs around here yesterday. All have different management and employees. Not sure what that means, but I havent traded in at any of them yet. I went to trade in O:GotY today at one closest to my house. There was a minor scratch on close to edge and the manager refused to take it. This is the first time I've ever been rejected for any trades at BBV. Gonna try a different location later and see.
This will probably be my last hurrah with flipping. Gonna get as much BBV credit as I can and do the Wii bonus at GS and keep the credit there. I probably wont buy any games for awhile. At least that will keep me from getting banned in case I want to to this later on next year.
I think Same as you, Cali.
This is the other thing I was wondering - this may be a specific district or area that they are cracking down on. See, this is why I was really hesitant to trade too many Singstar bundles - that sort of thing will draw the attention of store managers/DMs. I mean, they are going to talk about stuff like that at their weekly meetings. Fortunately I only traded one Singstar bundle per district (let alone store ).
I need to hear from h2dk to see how he's doing (since he's closest to my area). But then he's probably snowed in as well and not trying to trade stuff now either.

I traded in 4 singstar bundles which was really stupid, but I was afraid the price would drop so I wanted to unload them quick. I agree with you io. I see the bundles displayed at my BBVs used sections and think, "oh shyte, I'm basically fucked."

My experience today (i believe all 3 stores are in the same district):
Store 1 - 2:15 PM - traded 1 game - no issues
Store 2 - 2:45 PM - manager said no trades allowed on account, not certain why
Store 3 - 3:15 PM - traded 1 game - no issues
Not sure what is up....

OSURules, it may be a district wide ban and Store 2 was in a different district from the other two stores.
Another possibility is that Store 2 banned you, but not the other stores. Store specific bans do happen, especially if you piss off an ornery store manager.

I wonder if there's some connectio between the recent bans and the b1g1 sale. Perhaps they're scanning recent b1g1 transactions for "CAG like" patterns (e.g. multiple copies of the same items) and then from there reviewing trade histories and issuing bans according to what they find.
I knew it was a trap!:-(

Thanks DrNo888... I definitely overlooked/missed that. That is good news for the B1G1 sale. Also, awesome avatar. That is great.
Also, I know a few days ago a CAG reported that one of his BBs were not allowing people to purchase VVs and actually informed him upon trading in that his credit could not be used towards a VV. Have we had any other reports or further information about this since then?

They wouldn't care what you buy, they mighrt just prefer it to be bought with cash than "credit from the trade-ins of stolen games." I was just suggesting that it might be easier for them to track "crooks" by reviewing recent sales activity than the entire trade histories of all their clients. I'm sure by now that they realize the same "perps" who are buying 28 copies of GTA IV are also the ones trading-in multiple "stolen" copies of Legendary and Oblivion:GOTY.

Doh!! had I realized this I would have loaded up on lots more Wii games. I may have to hit the local BBV for like a 4th time, they're gonna start getting suspicious of me.
Exactly - we're hearing these are "loss prevention" bans so they could very well be interested in what you are buying as part of it. Though I doubt they feel the need to go into it that far - looking at what you traded is enough for them to get all junior detectivey on you .
In other news, it started snowing here at 6 am or so AND HAS YET TO STOP. I have never seen anything like this in my life. Well, since I was 5 anyway (and I don't remember anything before that). Note that since I was 5 I've lived in CA, then AZ, and now here. We usually get a dusting once a year here, but nothing like this. Yikes... It is kind of weird being stuck at home - I feel trapped . Though it is kind of cool in a sense too. Luckily I spent most of yesterday afternoon running around getting supplies and the last of the Christmas presents (and doing a bit of BBV buying and GS trading to boot).
Fortunately we still have power and heat, so I can settle in this evening and do some quality gaming knowing there's absolutely no way I could go out flipping in any case - it is kind of liberating in a way!
I almost feel like busting out the PS3 I'm giving the kids for Christmas and watching my first-ever blu-ray... But I guess that can wait. I can play the musty old 360 tonight ;).

You're in WI right?? Please tell me Northern WI so that I don't have to worry about getting hit that bad tonight/tomorrow here in Grand Rapids, MI.
EDIT: Son of a ____... I just looked at the Weather Channel's page and we have a Winter Storm Warning until 10 AM Monday morning. That is never good when they have it for that long of a period. Usually they just do 6-8 hours at a time and then update it for a few more 2 hours before it is supposed to end. We are on the edge of 3-6" and 6-12" in the next 24 hours.

Luckily I checked my games before I went out of the mall, as there was no game for Ninja Gaiden Ds, first time that's ever happened to me.

They said something about getting trades from other BBV's and they scanned Ninja Gaiden DS again for some reason.

oh. well, i traded in a copy of GTA IV for $11 + 30%. they had SOOOOOO many used copies @ $34.99. i'm thinking they're gonna have to stop accepting this title or at least seriously drop the trade-in value.
so, it's basically getting games for a buck. i guess it's back to BB tomorrow. there are at least 2 other gamestops near me i can hit.
question: do i have to buy something right away or can they give me a credit?

If you mean at Blockbuster you will most likely have the credit put on your account unless you have an employee that knows and is allowed to put your credit on a Value Card. I have found that if you deal more with Gamerush they will put it on a Value Card but most local stores make you put it on your account to use at that location so make sure that it is where you want to buy something from in this case.
Cocoto Magic Circus - $2.75 (11/2)
I saw this game while I was at BB tonight so its just over the $2 limit might be worth it with $5 extra deal since it is $6.99 at BB.
I will pick up another game I saw for $6.99 which was called Wing Island to see what the TIV is for it most likely tomorrow since I never heard of it. I would have bought these with the credit I was going to get from trading in Drake's Fortune but I forgot to bring it with me plus I didn't want to spend my cash when I knew I was going to get some credit to buy them.
I just remembered that I wanted to know did anyone elses store have a table with just the games you could buy new with the old price and the new low price on them because to my surprise I thought it was going to be all the games that where going to apart of the $14.99 sale. Sadly, the $14.99 and under games where on a table closer to the cash register and only had about 20 titles.

Woo, just got back from BB. Looks like my 4th account has officially been banned. I was able to do $700 worth of trades in 2 days on the account and I've got plenty of credit thanks to a certain CAG trading for me yesterday, so at least i'll be set for the sale. The store manager hadn't heard of anything for the 50% off deal starting the 22nd. But that store is usually at the ass-end when it comes to hearing about promos.
I feel like i need to do some sort of bragging. Not including the stuff i've already traded to GS, ive picked up:
Wii
Battle of the Bands x3
Bee Movie Game
Cranium Bukkake
Legend of Spyro Eternal Night x2
Manhunt 2

Ninjabread Man
Ninja Reflex x4
Sea Monsters
Sega Superstars Tennis x3
Spiderman FoF x2
Super Swing Golf Season 2
Table Tennis x3
WWE SvR 08

Condemend 2 (360)
GTA 4 (5x PS3 & 5x 360)
Predator Concrete Jungle (PS2)
Spiderwick Chronicles (360)
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (XBX)

If you mean at Blockbuster you will most likely have the credit put on your account unless you have an employee that knows and is allowed to put your credit on a Value Card.
I mean Gamestop. I didn't even know you could trade them in at blockbuster. And why would i if i got them there to begin with? that has me confused....
i went to 5 bb and the set ups were all different. some had a table with just the B1G1 eligible games, and the new clearance games on the racks, in one other they had the new clearance games in a bin on a separate table so it's very YMMV.
Cocoto Magic Circus - $2.75 (11/2)
I saw this game while I was at BB tonight so its just over the $2 limit might be worth it with $5 extra deal since it is $6.99 at BB.
The GS/EB TiV for Cocoto Magic Circus was $2.00 as of 12/19
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5272322#post5272322
I think Jumper might be $7 @ BBV, but I don't know if the $2.50 Tiv @ GS/EB has held.

I went in today totally expecting my account to be suspended because of all the banning talk lately. I've seriously earned thousands of dollars in credit over the past year and I trade at 7 different blockbusters I live near the city and there are literally 10 within a 5 mile radius of my house.). I nervously gave the employee two games, Oblivion GOTY and Baja for the 360, expecting to get shot down, but to my delight the guy said $57 and gave me my credit.
I don't think I'm out of the clear yet, but at least I know that I haven't been banned at at least one of my blockbusters.

Do u remember if the BBV on northlake had anything else worth getting or was it pretty cleaned out?

Has anyone had any luck at BBV finding mismarked blu rays? I found Planet of the Apes today marked at $12.99 when it was supposed to be $34.99 and they honored the lower price.
I'm just curious how common this is and if I should always keep an eye out for these errors.

Shit, I live in Sacramento, and while I'm not a major trader like some people here, I am probably one of the standouts in the district. I doubt many people trade like I do and there are some douche managers I may have rubbed the wrong way because I simply wanted to trade games in and this is a "huge inconvenience" for them.

I'm worried for myself for all the same reasons. I'm spending nearly all of my BBV credit on the B1G1 games and I'll probably never get any more BBV credit. I'll get my mom to trade in games for me but she'll be pissed about it. :-#

I feel bad for all of you who've been banned recently. Hopefully, this is more of a district/regional thing, since I'm on the east coast. I didn't make it out to any BBVs today, since the one I went to had some random problem with something or other and was temporarily closed. Instead, I spent a good part of the day tracking down a bunch of flippables from Gamestop (Oblivion, Legendary, Monster Jam). I'll be going tomorrow to trade them in and check the status of my account. Luckily, my brother is visiting, so I can have him sign up and make the trades, if need be.

I doubt it, It only goes for about $20 so their TIV is probably less than 9.99.
Does anyone know what day of the week GS drops it's TIVs? I have 1 GTA IV for 360 and 1 for PS3 I need to offload, but I cant make it to GS untill monday afternoon, I got both of the games free(I sold a friend 1 copy of each for $30!!) so i'm not missing much if it drops.
1 13.99 copy of Oblivion - BBV = 37.45 credit
37.45 BBV credit - 2X GTAIV(PS3) and 2X GTAIV(360) = 5.37 BBV credit on VC
1X GTAIV(PS3) and 1X GTAIV(360) to friend for 32.08
= 18.09 profit + 1X GTAIV(PS3) and 1X GTAIV(360) FREE + 5.37 BBV credit.
how awsome is that!!

GTA IV PS3 - FREE
Professor Layton DS - $15

Hey deadlykeyboard.... I saw a SOCOM bundle tagged $44.99 while I was out today. Didn't have it checked, but its probably still correct. Having said that, I do still think its really weird that you asked here 4 times rather than call a store, even if it was a non-local store.
Well, I luckily had time to do some rounds today. Basically did GS->BBV using new copies of Monster Jam, Legendary, and Oblivion GOTY, then bought all the B1G1 games I could afford and then traded them BBV->GS. I did that twice, then one final GS->BBV flip to buy a $100 VV.
All told, I think I only invested about $40 out of pocket and have roughly $320 GS credit, a $100 VV, a $20 PSN card, a copy of GTA IV for my neighbor, one month of XBL (found inside the GTA), and an instruction manual for Beautiful Katamari since the one I kept during the last B1G1 didn't have one.
It's been a damn good couple of days. I did get hit with $10 in refurb fees by a GS douche.... the discs didn't look good, so that's cool.... but I get so freaking annoyed that they never tell me they're doing it. I just happened to notice it on the screen on the signature pad.
Also, I think somebody has told a similar story before, but I had something funny at BBV. I went to a BBV I have only been to like twice ever to do my last trade of the day. The trade went fine and when I said I wanted to just put the credit toward purchasing a VV card, he said I couldn't. He said I could however put the credit on my account, then just buy the card and it'll put it toward it anyway. Seemed like a really pointless thing.... basically just saying I can't do it in the same transaction as the trade. The trades didn't cover it, so he even let me use the $2.44 I had on my value card toward it.... which seems to contradict what he was saying. I dunno, just weird.

Is that smackdown for the wii or 360?
I've managed to rack up around $350 in BBV credit over the past three weeks, so I figured it was now time to get my kids the $249 Xbox 360 they've been wanting. I've probably spent around $70 of my own money to get to this point. . .
While I was getting ready to buy the new 360, tonight, the BBV guy behind the counter was nice enough to mention to me that they're starting a $299 package deal on the 360 on the 21st (tomorrow) where you can get the 360, an extra controller, a 3 month Xbox live card, and three specific games (Kung Fu Panda, Lego Indiana Jones, and one other game I can't remember). Needless to say, I decided to hold off until tomorrow to get this deal instead of getting the 360 tonight. He told me he'd hold it for me since that's the last system in the store. . .
Some stores are just really cool to work with.

I have NEVER been able to purchase ANYTHING on the same transaction as the trade since my old GR days (when the preorder deal was in effect which had to be done at the same time as the trades). Not a single regular BB employee has been able or willing to combine transactions. It ALWAYS has to go to the Value card or the store account - then I can buy games, VV's, gift cards, whatever on a second transaction...
I woild think it was highly unusual if they scanned whatever I was buying at the same time as I was trading and I only got one receipt for the whole deal .

i had my first refusal of a game, the singstar bundle. they were super nice about tit though and this store puts all games in the locking bbv cases. the manager came up front for the end of the the transaction to get his drink and noticed that i was buying alot of games and he starts staring at them. this was interesting and then he opens a drawer and pulls out some actual cases for the games. i was surprised.
we start talking about the cases and asks if i need any more. i mention i was in there a couple says before and only got the locking cases. he pulls out a handful more and asks if this is enough. i nod and say thank you and pay. then all my stuff gets placed, not thrown or tossed, in a box big enough instead of giving me what would have been 8+ of those stupid little bags. all in all ill take the real cases over trading in the one game they have denied.

I wonder if there's some connectio between the recent bans and the b1g1 sale. Perhaps they're scanning recent b1g1 transactions for "CAG like" patterns (e.g. multiple copies of the same items) and then from there reviewing trade histories and issuing bans according to what they find.
I knew it was a trap!:-(
Like I said -- they get their system set up to monitor ALL trade activity company wide and they want to test it out, so they launch Visa Giftcards and a crazy sale to get the flippers to come out of the woodwork to rack up as much credit as possible. Then, bam, they start nailing us.

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT WERE BANNED RECENTLY
Did you buy VV's with a value card?
I bought plenty of them but with Blockbuster Gift Cards and also directly off of my account after placing my trade-ins on store credit.
I think their loss prevention dept thinks the games I've traded in are stolen due to the high amount of trades I do with all their stores ?
or
it could have been all the VV's I bought since it is Christmas and all. I went a little hog wild since I thought they were only going to carry them for Christmas but it turns out they are supposed to be a regular item now. ALso, seemed like a rare chance to turn my saved up Gamestop credit into presents I could give my non-gaming wife and buy christmas presents for the kids! :)
or
it could have been the fact that I usually traded in 2 of each title at each store as per my unique trade in agreement with each store.
or
it could be that I only buy tons of used games(during BOGO) but don't do any new game pre-orders with them ??
or
I somehow managed to hit the magical $10k trade volume in the past 12 months ??:-\"
As far as I am concerned I have done nothing wrong other than being an active trader to them and buyer of used games from them with exception of the introduction of VV cards the last couple weeks.
None of my trade-ins are STOLEN or HOT in any way despite the volume and I have EVERY RECEIPT from EVERY new game or used game I have bought the last year so I look forward to the opportunity to fight my temporary(hopefully) trading suspension.

Doesn't the fact that they have "No Dealers" listed pretty much under all their sales terms mean that you have zero ground to fight your suspension? The stores aren't meant as an avenue for extra revenue gain by flipping titles; it's actually against the terms of all the major gaming stores. They have every right to ban most of us...and they really should ban more people.

I can't help but laugh at you guys who got banned, honestly I don't see any problem with flipping...its taking a product at a low price and selling it at a high price, nothing wrong with that in theory. The problem is when some people (like the ones who got banned) go and buy all the copies of a game a store has a really low price and hoard them for themselves to flip for a profit, leaving everyone who wanted the game to PLAY it out.
flip if you want, but don't hoard everything, some people just want to play the games.

But yYou clearly have a pretty good idea that its still $44.99, and its pretty obvious when you call a store whether the clerk is just spouting the price off the top of their head or actually looking it up in the computer. Don't ask if its "on sale" or anything, juts politely ask them to look it up and tell you the price.... if they say no or can't figure it out, call another store and say the same thing. All you have to do is verify that they actually look it up, then you've got your price. But whatev.... its $44.99.... so there ya go.
There have been a number of times when I've traded stuff in and bought things in the same transaction (a few times I've bought VV cards, for instance). I only do that if I'll be using up all of my credit.... I don't know how they would handle it if they still owed me more.... it'd probably be the same as putting the entire trade amount on my value card, but I don't want to throw them off and then have to stand around for 10 minutes while they figure out what they're doing.
The GR I stopped by had several very poorly worded signs up, one in essence saying all used $14.99 games could be bought 3 for $19.98. I'm assuming this was just a local mistake?
Who knows.... one of the stores I went to had a 'buy one, get one half off on all used games' sign up, which was clearly not right. He said they just didn't have the right sign to put up.

Man, I want to go flipping so bad right now but I really shouldn't. The roads here are covered in ice and after pulling a 1080 on the turnpike and obliterating my rear bumper on the median, I'm pretty sure I used up all my credits with the man upstairs when it comes to accident protection. Oh well, maybe I can find someone willing to cart me around today. I'll pay them in used games. ;)

i have picked up a new copy this week and it was 20, so if their pattern follows i would go pick sunbitch up cause it should be 15, therefor qualifying for the bogo. let us know. you could call a store that isnt the one you are going to go to and ask if they have it and if they dont ask how much it would be if they did. thats what i do.

Picked up last night:
Wii-Nights $10
Wii-Sonic Tennis-Free
360-Sega Rally Revo $10
360-...I forget the last one.
I'm probably going to trade in GH World Tour and Oblivion GOTY for $35 each today since I need the credit for the Rock Band Wii bundle. I have Madden 09, and if I can get at least $30 for it, I'll throw that in to pay for the rest of Rock Band. I also have Fifa 08 and PGR4, but I don't think I'll get much for those, so I'll probably hold onto them.

I would personally never purchase a Vanilla Visa on my account. I kinda feel like that's asking for someone to look you up. I only buy $100 cards because they're the best value and I always pay with gift cards. It'd look suspicious. Games, I have no problem with bringing a stack of games to the counter. Gifts/collection purposes are easy excuses, but since there's mixed information about whether gift card purchases are allowed with gift cards, I'd stay as low key as possible.

Hang on a second now. I am not a DEALER. I do not buy and SELL games. I buy games and TRADE SOME of them in for gain to put towards more games.
I have no business license other than my real estate license. I do this for a hobby to get free or cheap games for my kids(boys ages 9,7,6) and I to play. I make my primary living(or try to) in real estate and mortgage loans. I have no video game RETAIL shop or store open to the public nor do I have a Ebay storefront of any kind. I am a video game COLLECTOR. Some people collect "Santas" or "Cow" knickknacks. Many women collect shoes and purses. I used to collect comic books but now I collect video games. I am a individual who merely buys games for good deals and/or on clearance or sale anywhere I can and then after keeping 1 of each for me, trade in others for a small gain to apply towards MY next game or pre-order at Gamestop. Wash, rinse, repeat. Its all legal in our free market system.
I am a consumer who buys a lot of games on sale, and a smart shopper I admit, but a DEALER. NO way. I admit I am making the "system" work for me or working the "system", but it is not illegal.
Anyways, thats my position and thats what I would say to anyone who accuses me otherwise. Thats all I have to say on this matter and the chips will fall where they may.

Technically, you are not trading games. Just because gamestop calls it "trading" whenever you sell them a game does not mean you are trading it. You are selling it to them for store credit. Same thing you're doing with BBV.

 uhh...ok..then I guess ALL the CAG "flippers" who buy cheap and trade higher are all dealers then. Even all the video game enthusiasts(non-cags) and "ordinary" folks that pick up their games cheap at pawn shops and garage sales and then trade them in are dealers too.
For that matter, anyone who buys anything on clearance(electronics, tv, etc and not just videogames) and who then sells it is a dealer too. :hot:
Looks like the whole USA is a capitalistic free market society where prices fluctuate on everything who has lots of dealers in its midst.
Heck, I buy company stocks low and sell them higher for personal gain so that must make me a dealer on those grounds too...
I'm NOT a dealer, I'm a POWERTRADER.
P.S. Next time you visit and estate antique sale, bankruptcy sale, foreclosure sale, or garage sale and pick up that old silver dinnerware & silver ware, or discounted to market value home or old painting, don't you ever pawn it or sell it in the paper to a collector or someone because that makes you a DEALER too.

Look, Xfactor4, the term 'dealer' is ambiguous enough to mean anything that Gamestop/Blockbuster needs it to mean in order to ban you. Their interpretation takes precedence over yours because you signed the terms and conditions. It's basically an out so that the company can ban you/refuse trades for any reason whatsoever.
It's all semantics and by their definition you are a dealer. DEAL with it. We're all in that same category. Every person who has flipped EVER can be called a dealer. So, despite you trying to make it sound like a crime to label "ordinary" folks as dealers, that's exactly what that clause is meant to do.
But of course, don't take my word for it. Go ahead and call Gamestop corporate to see what their definition is.

Alas, it is what it is. I was just making my own case the way I see it and I have no problem defending my self for the state merits and reasons to BBV, HWV, GC, Gamestop or whoever has a question about it. I have thousands of games in my personal video game collection and own most all the systems(PS2, GBA, DS, XBOX, GC, PS3, 360, Wii) and as stated I am a personal collector of games. Thats why I know whats good TIV or not because I own most of them, have played, most of them, and know what other gaming friends and kids of parents I know like.
I full well realize that you or any other CAG on here's definition of a "dealer" or opinion of such doesn't matter because Gamestop or HWV or BBV or any of the places I spend LOTS OF MONEY at can state their case as well and we may agree or disagree and I may be banned or not banned ultimately by THEM.
That said, I just stated my personal feelings and argument/case logic. If you diagree FINE ?!
Don't make it personal. Its just a forum and I thought my feelings and logic MIGHT help someone else who is unfairly being labeled as a DEALER.
Nuff said. Sorry for the rant. I am done on this topic and do not wish to have semantics or any other disagreement of terms clutter the thread too much although since many of us are flippers, I think its is quite on topic.

I disagree and I do APPRECIATE BBV for taking my trades as well as the high value they pay. Many of the games I bring BBV are titles they never got at all and many stores convert them to rentals where BBV make $8.xx+ per video game rental. Also, I always spend ALL the money back in their store on used games (with exception of my run of VV's)which boosts their sales numbers HUGELY and clears their shelf space of older games to make room for newer games.
I think BBV makes PLENTY off our mutually beneficial relationship. If they are losing on their trade ins ? then adjust the value ! Too many copies of a single title at a store ? make a limit then ! If they are not making money on their used games sale, then set the prices higher(which maybe they won't sell or maybe they will)
Right now Gamestop gets ALL my pre-orders of new games. Maybe I need to give BBV more of those orders but I sure as heck am not going to if they don't want to do business with me or take my trades. They're lucky they have me at all because they DON'T EVER GET ANY TRADES IN !? I laugh as every store I go into to trade, I'm often welcomed by an associate who has no training or clue on how to take a trade in ? Then they proceed to tell me they NEVER get any trade-ins in and how they want to change that. I'm often the guinia pig for them to practice on how to take a trade in ! lol..
Most people don't even know they take trade-ins at all (I didn't know until this last Auguest or Sept for example) due to their poor marketing.
I even hooked up some of my local BBV stores with HOT games they cannot keep in stock for rental ( at $8.xx a pop, like Mirrors's Edge, Left for Dead etc) They never even got ANY COPIES of Mirror's Edge at all ! I brought and traded in some copies(PS3+360) I picked up at GS BOGO to them as a FAVOR and I actually lost a few bucks on the swap but I have always wanted my sales relationship with them to be mutually beneficial.
Heck they should consult me or some of us CAGS and we could help them get into the gaming business better since they want Gamestops turf badly.

You can't. you forfeit your right to legal action (including class action lawsuits) when you sign the trade agreement.
I am however interested in someone taking them up on their binding arbitration clause. Would be interesting to see what their response is.

In my opinion, the term "dealer" depends on "intent". When you buy games, with the sole intention of selling them, whether it's on Ebay, Goozex, or BBV, you are indeed acting like a "dealer". Not that this is a bad thing. However, I dont know how BBV would determine your 'intent'.
But I think we all can agree, even outside of this whole "dealer" business, that BBV as a business can choose to do business with whomever they please. If they refuse a person's trades, I'm not sure that there is much that person can do other than take their business elsewhere. I know GS says all trades are subject to management approval. As long as they aren't violating equality rules by discriminating against protected classe, they can disapprove of trades just because you have on red shoes. Legally, there is no recourse. You can of course protest and rally against them but I doubt there are many legal options.

My manager appreciates flippers, she has sold almost all the copies of the recent CAG flips to here store, she also encourages traders to use their credit on the B1G1, from her view point CAG's bring in games that people want to buy and take out ones people dont want to.
My account wasnt blocked so I don't have to walk away, I'm jstu saying that BBV has no right to take the accounts away, most of the people who's accounts got blocked were acting within the trade agreement, I do agree that a company should have the right to decide who they do business with, but blocking somones account wihtout letting them know what they did wrong is not acceptable, and for the CAG who's accoutn got deleted with $80 creidt ont it, $80 may not be much, but it is money and in my book that is BBV stealing from a customer!!

ummm..
Step 1. Buy a "good" game on sale or clearance at a "good" price from GS, BBV, HWV, FYE, TARGET, AMAZON, BEST BUY, CIRCUIT CITY, Garage sale, Estate auction, local record game store, newspaper etc..
Step 2. Trade said game in at GS, BBV, HWV, FYE etc for a higher price using a trade in promotion or just a retailer who pays MORE for their game trade-ins. :D(Helps of course to know who is paying what for what which is where the strong community of gamers at CAGhelp each other out by sharing our results of current "market value" for titles.
Only works if you buy the "good" games or right titles that the used videogame "market" will pay you a premium for over your sale or clearance price from another retailer, garage sale, or flea market.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
Such a strategy can be applied with every thing in life. My son wanted a ULTIMATE WALL-E for Christmas and money is tight this year and they are $249.99+tax each. Well, Toys R Us was runing a Friends and Family promotion in the mail for 15% any item and so I bought myself one for $210 or so after coupon. Then I figured they would be a short supply item this year and a hot toy so I went a bought a couple more of them to hold on too until closer to Christmas. Next I proceeded to sell those on Ebay for $349 shipped which allowed me to basically get my son's Ultimate Wall-e for Christmas for FREE !

Woke up this morning, and found out I was banned...
Just kidding.
Traded:
Monster Jam (360): $22
Don King's Prizefighter (360): $8
Picked up an Orange Box and Battlefield 2 (360s) to keep for now. Kind of feel guilty that I really don't have the finances to do something with all the GTA IVs in my area.
Had them scan 360 copies of Army of 2, Iron Man and Burnout Paradise- all still priced as marked. Someone ought to check on Eternal Fantasia in case the $15 copies reported were not mis-tagged but prematurely tagged (anything's possible with their usual level of incompetance!).
Noticed Spider-man 3 and Smackdoen vs Raw 06 (?) marked $6.99 used for 360. Wouldn't be surprised if a number of used games dropped in buying price today, but there was no way to tell at that store.
Our store featured nothing but old sports games...a lot of Madden 2006 and Eragon for the 360. Sucked...I was hoping that all those clearance items they had would at least be part of the sale. There were games for $14.99 on the shelves but they told me that it's only the games they put on the small table. Ended up picking up a Gundam game for the PS3 and an XBOX Sega fighting game I wanted but never wanted to pay for and got that for free....spent only $10.47...not bad.

This exchange is entertaining. I looked up "DEALER"'s web definition and here's what I got:
Definitions of dealer on the Web:
trader: someone who purchases and maintains an inventory of goods to be sold
So guys, be honest with yourselves. Whenever you buy something with the intent of selling it, you are a dealer. Per the trading agreement, BBV has every right to ban you.
Look, I think I've said this once a year for the past 4 years, but my take on it is this:
It is simply a crappy way to handle things by handing out bannings in the dark of night (since they rarely are up front about it and tell you when or why it happened). There are a lot of ways they could rein in the trades without targetting specific people, which would be better for them in the long run anyway (as they don't have to search for the flippers or alienate customers). They could simply limit the number of copies any store will take - that way they can reject trades without getting personal. I know some people have run into this occasionally and I think they would agree it is a better way to handle it than to simply ban anyone that tries to trade that hot title. Or, as Xfactor says, they could simply adjust their trade-in prices.
What they never do is give you a warning or say you can't trade that title in any more or you can only trade X games per week to one store - or SOMETHING. They could let you know that you are violating some completely unwritten and non-communicated rule. As it is, all we have to go by is the 2 per title per day which is really not very restrictive at all (and, in fact, will get you in trouble if you follow it to the letter!). If they ban you for any other reason I feel they at least should give you a warning first to let you know they don't like what you are doing and then give you a chance to conform to whatever new rules they want to enforce. It would be better to spell out any more restrictive rules in the trade agreement or on in-store signage so it doesn't have to get to that point. It is the half-assed and inconsistent way in which they enforce these unwritten rules that makes them seem really out of their league with this stuff. Thet need to come up with specific rules and enforce them uniformly.
As for the dealer thing, I wasn't even aware that was in the BBV trade agreement - I know GS doesn't allow "dealers" on their sales/coupons. I'd say people who order 20 copies of Wii Sports from the GS web site definitely count as dealers ;).
Anyway, as for me, I won't find out any time soon if I'm banned or not - doesn't look like I'll be able to get out of the house until Tuesday at the earliest - and maybe not till Thursday. And even when I do get out, I don't really have anything to trade to BBV (need to get to GS though!). I'm VERY glad the 30% bonus offer at GS has been extended through the Dec 26-28 sale period. I may not make it to a GS to dump these HWV and BBV games till the 26th!

I just hit up my local BB in Northridge CA (on Reseda and Nordhoff) and walked out with 16 games for wii and 360 for under $75! (damn, the sales too close to the holidays! my wallet is bleeding)
What helped me the most was that the clerk was super cool and literally handed me the entire markdown list and pretty much personal shopped me for an hour- running back and fourth checking cabinets and files all around the store!
If you get lucky to find a chill sales assistant, make friends, and hope that they will be as helpful as they were to me!

So more bad news, it seems that you cannot even get a quote if your account is suspended. I figured I'd trade some games to GameCrazy as I was already going there to make use of the B2G1 they are having on used games. I did eventually get my quote, but only because the manager is friendly and gave me the quote using someone elses account. I also had GameCrazy price match GS today on the GTA's. And to top it off my wife is freaking out over me asking her to setup an account in her name, stupid woman thinks she's commiting some horrendous act of fraud. This woman has not made my life easy in the 22 years I've lived with her.
And just to weigh in on the dealer discussion, I don't consider myself a dealer, I do (ok did), what I did solely to reduce the cost of my gaming collection. Those of you who think BBV don't make a profit selling the games they accept, really need a reality check, of course they make a profit buying a game for 25-35$ and selling it for 45-55, they make on these sales than they do on new games. If you don't beleive that they actually sell the games they receive, just pay attention to the used games section. They seem to maintain a very consistent number of games, occasionally they have a million of something (GTA, Dark Sector, TimeShift), but these imbalances are due to their ludicrous rental stocking process. BBV do not seem to be able to react to demand, they always overstock or understock, and whomever is actually ordering the games is obviously either not a gamer, or easily swayed by the game manufactures marketing departments. Even the crappy trades like sea monsters sell, and I never bought from GR to sell back to GR, I do recall an instance in recent memory however where I traded in copies of a game, only to rebuy a copy later on for myself to keep... Hmm I wonder if that is the pattern they are looking for, that would be especially true during the B1G1, where I have rebought a lot of games I had previously traded.

Ah, man, that sucks (on the quotes). That was my backup plan if I ever got banned...
As for the wife, well, mine isn't happy with the whole buying/flipping/playing games in general, though I think maybe she'd sign up an account for me at my local store - of course, that would only be if the manager there approves it as she would clearly know who I was . But for sure my wife wouldn't be happy being put in that situation - not because it is fraud, but she just doesn't want to have anything to do with it and would think it was awkward "getting around" the ban like that.
But your comment about your wife thinking it is a "horrendous act of fraud" reminds me of my mother's attitude. I was trying to explain the process to her when I was out there one time (as I was running to a few BBV in MD and VA when I was there for work and visiting her) and she kept thinking it was illegal - she was mixing it up with return fraud . And even though I kept explaining it to her she kept commenting about how I'm going to get in trouble. So I just stopped talking about it with her ;).

Yay. A buddy dropped off $120 worth of games I was sitting on. Time to drive out to him to get the value card and then spend that on 24 games =D
Also, my girlfriend is outraged about me getting banned -- her philosphy on flipping is that it takes too much time, but she never complains when I'm bringing home BDs of her favorite movies or games that she wants to play. ;) So, she might trade a couple of things in for me, too, just to keep the cycle going.
A wrench has been throw into the machine, but its gonna keep on turning.
Unfortunately, this couldn't happen at a worse time. My Uncle lost his job recently and his girls want a 360 for Xmas and he's been asking my advice on where to get a cheap system...and because of the financial situation, we're not swapping gifts with his family this year, and I feel bad 'caues he's really cool. So, he might end up with a bunch of "games I don't play anymore" that I'll be picking up over the next couple of days from this sale. ;)
If I could still trade, I could buy an elite and give them "the system I don't use anymore."

I think im somewhere around $15,000 by now...
I consider you to be one of the lucky ones to beat the corp ban. Im still thinking of a way to beat it without raising eyebrows. No store except for the last BBV i went to knows about the corp ban. So im guessing i could slide just by using someone elses card. What comes after a corp ban? Im thinking they have someone escort you out and serve you a restraining order.

Alright, well I bared the blizzard a few hours ago and headed out to do a few flips before drop day tomorrow and I was glad to see that I wasn't banned (purchased 2 $100 VVs last weekend).
But here is my question... That receipt that BB/GR has you sign at the end of a transaction what happens if you don't sign it? What exactly is the purpose of it. I am just wondering as this girl at one of my new favorite BBs to trade at always forgets to have me sign it. A couple of times I have actually reminded her that I needed to sign something. I was just curious as whether or not it would benefit me to just walk out without signing if she forgets again?

I totally agree with this. It's crazy, but I've seen other stores use this same policy (FYE). They won't tell you what you did wrong, or what rule you're actually breaking. And by having that attitude, it gives the appearance that there is no rule, and that they're just making it up because what you're doing is very business savy, and they don't want that kind of business. This is where all the anger from the customers comes in because they feel like they've been banned unjustifiably.
The dealer thing...ehh...yeah, it's their right to refuse business, but it feels ridiculously hypocritical. Gamestop and Blockbuster are dealers. They acquire games at lower prices (ESPECIALLY used games...and ESPECIALLY Gamestop) and then sell them for more. I guess the difference is they don't buy from each other, so you don't really have one dealer taking advantage of another...only their customers. To me, it's basically the same thing though. I guess you just get more credibility and leeway when you're a big company doing it to common consumers.

Yes, but Blockbuster and Gamestop are registered corporation and have to pay taxes based on being a "dealer". I have not read all the posts....but that post just seems uneducated. BB/GS can buy low and sell high since they are businesses.

I picked up these Wii Games today:
Big Beach Sports $10 (Never heard of this one but it is sold at the same price Nights so it probably gets the same TIV at Gamestop)
Nights $10
Pool Party $10
Geometry Wars $7
I went to a Blockbuster I don't normally frequent but they had a lot of GTAIV for 360 & PS3 and they had Frontlines:Fuel of War. I am only focusing on Wii games at the moment for the GS special for next weekend.

Actually no!
A hint to everyone hitting their local BBV: the good games are hidden behind the counters, and you should ask a sales clerk because they are spread out through the store!
Also ask if they are kind enough to let you see their price drop list and it should have a print out of inventory stock left and new clearance prices for the newly dropped games!
Good luck!

I can attest to the policy on exchanging discs of games bought at one BB to another BB.
Story...
I had to exchange a :360: GTA IV because it was mangled all to hell at my local store because I had originally bought it when I went to visit my buddy in Fontana. BB 30-day policy allows exchanges if the disc is defective AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE RECEIPT. If they dont have any more copies of that game, then you may be able to get a similar priced game.

ummm..
Was I smart ? Heck Yes ! Did that make me a dealer ? NO !:bomb:
i really appreciate the response. after reading through the thread a bit more, ive learned of the recent bans. am i correct to assume that both GS and BBV have been banning a lot of people lately? would it be unwise for me to take 6 copies of a single game (i.e. GTA 4) to GS in a single session or can i only trade one or two copies of the same game without risking a ban? also, i read up on the edge membership that entitles you to 10% off used games in addition to adding 10% value to trade-ins. The GS website makes it seem like you need to get a Game Informer subscription in order to get the edge membership... is this true? Is there a more savvy method of obtaining said edge membership?

BBV has been banning people. It takes a TON to get banned from GS. They do it the right way - their trade-in values are set at what they think the games are worth and they don't mind getting tons of a title as they can move them one way or another.
However, you usually cannot trade more than ONE copy of a given game at a single time at Gamestop. So, no, don't bring in 6 of the same thing.
And yes, if you plan to do this even a small amount you will want the Edge card membership. $15 gets you the discount sticker and the Game Informer subscription. It is well worth it on the trade-ins and for things like B2G1 as you will get the 10% discount on top of that promo or any other coupon they have.
There was (and maybe still is) a way to get the Edge card for $2, but it requires sending away in the mail for it. At this point you might as well just shell out the $15.

As a policy, I agree with you. However, in practice, what incentive do they have to give "warnings"? If they have identified a person who trade habits make them nervous, either from a profit or fraud perspective, why would they want to continue business with them at all? So they ban them with predjudice and move to the next customer. The other customers are not likely to have contact with the banned member (unless they are engaging in similar trading tactic, like here on CAG), so there is little risk of them losing business they are comfortable with.

What's with the "Strawman" argument? No one here thinks BBV is not out to make a profit. Yes, they buy stuff and sell it for more than their cost. But then again, they are clear that they are a "dealer". Some here buy stuff low, with the sole intent of selling it at a higher price. Problem is, some dont see this as them acting as a "dealer". Maybe it's just because they dont pay taxes on their profit (a whole other issue I dont wanna get into). In both instances, BBV corp and Individual CAGs are buying low and selling high. That an individual is doing so to 'feed their gaming' / 'please their kids' is irrelavant. The behavior is the same: profit and capitalisim.

Man, I made out pretty well today. My Blockbusters never have anything good onsale but sure enough they had 3 bins of the BOGO. Here's my haul, I had them ring the pairs as a seperate transactions because the clerk said it would just give the lowest priced ones free if I did them all at once:
GTA IV - XBox360 $14.99
No More Heroes - Wii $14.99 (free one)
Dark Sector - XBox $9.99
Harvest Moon - GameCube/Wii $9.99 (free one)
Elebits - Wii $9.99
Super Swing Golf - Season 2 - Wii $9.99 (free one)
Luigi's Haunted Mansion - GameCube/Wii $6.99
Return to Castle Wofenstein -Orig. XBox $4.99 (free one)
Total was about $44 out the door but used a giftcard from some trade-ins so ended costing about $2 out of pocket.

When it comes to "dealer" isn't there some actual legal definition of what is considered a "dealer." I would assume it'd be an actual distributor of games, someone that owns a shop or storefront.

Figured I'd quit lurking and at least say thanks for the work that has gone into the thread, as it's helped me out a bunch.
Right now i'm sitting on GS 250 and BBV 200. Really just waiting for the GS Wii trade in deal.
About that deal, the GS thread said it was $5 a wii title but also mentioned that the tiered trade was still running. Does that mean it will be $5 and then the extra 40%?
Thats what i'm hoping.
Quick math on that deal if you were to pick up Tony Hawk PG, Manhunt 2, Spiderwick Chronicles, Spiderman Friend or Foe, Bully, and Sonic Riders (all stuff I've found pretty easily) you'd be getting 109.2 in GS credit for roughly $38/BBV credit (depending on your tax, mines 7%).
1 BBV to 2.87 GS sounds pretty good to me.

Good news: Found a store with most of their games mistagged.
Bad News: the copy of Orange box had no disc
Out of BB credit. Traded in a bunch to Gs, wish they were always open until 10 on Sundays. Grabbed a used FarCry2 PS3 to trade tomorrow to get some credit for more wii stuff. Then will rebuy at a different Gs during the B2g1 sale, and return with this receipt with in 7 days. Didn't want to do that but too much too pass up and wait until Friday.

Just made a trade about 30 min. ago:
360:
PoP: $35
DBZ: Burst Limit $22
NBA 2k8 $8 (how appropriate)
then picked up:
360:
GTA IV $14.99
Condemned 2 $14.99
PS3:
GTA IV $14.99
Wii:
No More Heroes $14.99
Super Mario Galaxy $24.99 (NEW)
SSBB $33.99 (NEW)
PS2:
Grandia III $9.99
Spartan Total Warrior $9.99
GRRR!:bomb: Just looking back at my reciept, the new CSR that was being trained didn't total my games out after each 2, so I ended up paying $10 more than I should have...but I can't complain! Everyone at my local BBV has been really great to me lately, and even though they made this error, they really went the extra mile for me tonight.
My nephews decided they needed SSBB as their last present today, so I rushed over after work to see if I could grab it at their super-cheap price. Well they had 1 new copy and 1 used copy, so I had them to a price check on them...New-$33.99; used-$34.99! But of course, the new disc was nowhere to be found, just an empty display case.
Well, this great CSR I have been dealing with went to the trouble to call the manager and inquire where the game might be. After some searching, nothing came up, and they basically figured it had been stolen. After a little more searching, she goes back behind the counter, and pulls out some mystery copy of the disc that is unaccounted for. She pops it in the case, and says thanks for being so nice, and have a nice X-mas!
Now I know the used price was only a dollar more, and I still think that is very fair (considering this credit cost me basically nothing anyway), but the used one was a totally gutted copy..just a disc, and the nephews are sticklers for that kind of stuff. So if nothing else, she upgraded me to a complete (and mint) used copy, and still saved me $1!
I know it's not the most earth-shattering event ever, but she definitely went above and beyond what she had to do...most places would have just shrugged and said oh well, I guess we're out. Every now and then, it actually pays off to be nice to people. Of course I could have gotten the game somewhere else, but I wanted to use my cheap BBV credit!
BTW, she even asked me on the way out if I have ever purchased a VV with my trade-in credit (not in an accusatory manner..just matter of factly...I haven't, BTW). She actually mentioned how it was a great idea, and their other big trader at this store usually gets his credit this way, but I guess they just got wind of the e-mail today, and said that they could no longer do it because it was apparently illegal.
It was a nice little heads up, because even though I haven't purchased one yet, it's good to know I shouldn't even try there, because it will just arouse suspicion. I'm not even gonna sweat the extra $10 I was charged, because they've been so nice to me lately, I don't want to cause them any extra hassle. I'm about to make a mint in GS credit off of all these Wii games next week anyway, so I just consider the $10 loss as the cost of doing business!
Now that I've written a novel, I'm almost done, BUT the real question remains, who is the lurker (and apparent fellow flipper) on here from my neck of the woods...??? ;) Hit me on a PM...

While out and about flipping today I ran across something interesting, similar to what others have said.
I tried to pick up a Visa Vanilla since my stores were a bit short on GS flippables for B1G1, and the employee informed me that you are no longer able to purchase Visa Vanillas with store credit.
I asked for the email they recieved and it specificially stated store credit was not able to be used for visa vanillas. (some bullshit about visa disallowing store credit to be used)
However, he did admit that I could put the credit on a value card and then buy a visa vanilla. Which I did. An odd second step, but it seems that they won't be banning Value/Gift cards from being used for Visa Vanillas for the time being. Their POS allows it just like you're using a Debit/Credit card, so barring a very complicated workaround, the Visa Vanilla is alive and well, as long as you're able to use a Value Card on the sly.

My poor store. About 50% of their entire used stock are games that I traded in. At least i'm buying some of my games back. I picked up a few copies of Sea Monsters that I traded last month.
Has anyone else confirmed the Looney Toons Acme Arsenal Game being $9.99? I tried to purchase one today and it rang up as $16.99 (they looked it up manually as well, and it shows $16.99). The person that originally reported it might have gotten a mis-tag like with the $9.99 Oblivion.
Side note, i'm 4 for 7 on finding GTA IV's for the 360 that have un-used 1 Month Live memberships. Its almost worth it just to buy the games, and return them so you can keep the membership cards.

I've wound up with 2 months out of the 4-5 360 GTAs I've bought and traded. Nice little bonus. The funny thing is, I've snooped through the cases at my local store before in the past.... but I bought their last copy today and it had a free month in it.

Blockbuster has every right to refuse service so long as they abide by discrimination laws.
Sure, the approach that they seem to be taking (at both the corporate and local level) may lack tact and transparency, but they're well within their rights to refuse to do business with anyone they don't want to.

Not banned yet. I was able to trade in some games into another BB within the same district. I have never let them scan my card when buying a VV. I understand if you have the credit on your account but if you are using a GC or VC, it seems unneccesary to let them scan your membership card.

I work at a job to reduce the cost of the games I buy.
You're assuming that a majority of the flips are going to be resold by Blockbuster at a profit. Let's take a look at some famous flips, shall we?
XBOX Red Ninja
PS2 Kuon
PS2 Powerdrome
Wii Cranium Kabukki
Wii Victorious Boxers
Wii Sea Monsters
PS2 Marc Ecko's Getting Up
PS3 Eye of Judgement
Do you really think any of these games are going to sell at a premium? I wonder if Blockbuster has sold any of the Eye of Judgements that were traded in without a camera (apparently since you cannot play without the EyeToy camera). Some of the XBox 360, PS3, and Wii flips are now part of the B1G1 sale which almost guarantees that they were not profitable.

The signature at the bottom of the receipt is to finalize the transaction and is a statement from the trader that the games are not stolen. It's the same thing at GS (although the signature at GS does not finalize the transaction).

LOL.
I keep seeing a couple of the Fantastic Fours I traded back when they were $4--$30 from Toys R Us. I almost feel bad for them, poor games never had a chance to be played. Like they are from the Island of Misfit toys. As longs as it's a $2 tiv, with the $5 bonus at GS I can at least give them a good home there.
edavis0780
12-22-2008, 03:38 AM
When it comes to "dealer" isn't there some actual legal definition of what is considered a "dealer." I would assume it'd be an actual distributor of games, someone that owns a shop or storefront.
The definition of dealer is whatever GameStop and Blockbuster want it to be. It can broaden and narrow depending on who is defining a dealer.
If you want Webster's definition a dealer is:
"1. a person who buys and sells articles without altering their condition; trader or merchant, esp. a wholesaler: I got a dealer's discount on this coat"
Wikipedia defines a dealer as being:
"An alternative usage of the term trader (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant), being generally someone who trades"
and trader redirects to Merchant:
"Merchants function as professionals who deal with trade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade), dealing in commodities that they do not produce themselves, in order to produce profit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profit)."
As I said earlier the definition of a dealer can broaden or narrow, but the simplest legal definition is someone who trades goods with the goal of turning a profit. There's nothing about flipping 10 of any item or 20 of any item. It's not about quantity or what the trader intends to do with the profit.

Sunday TIVs
360 Zoids Assault $28.50
PS2 Alone in the dark $12
PS3 Blacksite $20
I saw another used Blacksite tagged at 29.99, so I assume that one is about to drop. I also noticed that 360 Enemy territory Quake Wars was down to 34.99 used, so that one probably won't get $22 anymore either.

I was under the impression that'd be the case after reading in this thread but my BBV (no Gamerush) had all the discs in their filing cabinets. Possible TIV drops:
PS3 Blacksite Area 51 traded in for $20 on Sun, but I noticed a used copy on the shelf tagged at $29.99.
A 360 Quake Wars that I traded in a while ago was now marked at $34.99 (it was 44.99 before), so the TIV has probably dropped from $22 on that one.
And PS2 Alone in the dark trades in for $12.

Well, I have a really good memory, so I can point out at least every flippable title at a store that I might have traded. Though at my store, its hot hard to notice the 8 Bust a Moves, 9 Fatal Inertias, 6 Bladestorms, 6 Hellboys, and 3+ copies of a bunch of other flips as well. I used to rip the corner of Eye of Judgment where it said "PSeye included" so those ones are easy. The rest usually have residue from GS stickers, or still have the spine stickers minus the price.
I can confirm Looney Tunes being $9.99. Looked it up today at work to see if we had any in stock. It shows up $9.99.

Well the thing is that PoP and Far Cry 2 are temporary drops so they will be back at full price around 1/8 from what I have heard which means Blockbuster wouldn't drop the price because of it being short term.

I was a little sad because the ZoE2 that was at my local GR turned out not only without instructions, but was all scratched up as well. I left that, buying nothing there. Also, TIV for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is still $23 as of 12/21.
Traded in FarCry 2 on 360 last night and got $32 for it.

Thanks Animal and Jag I was about to call in, always beaten...next week I'll call at exactly 10 :)
Looks like the b2g1 is going to get interesting with all the possibilities.
How has Bukkake held? That is ridiculous.

wow!
I was really actually expecting huge TIV drops this week after the bannings and Vanilla Visa hassles.
I thought blockbuster had wised up, but no such luck for them.

if you want to call on some of the other games that would be cool. i can usually only get a couple games at each store.

I've called in the past few weeks but I'm heading out to drive home for the holidays this morning. Hope others are able to pick up the slack. I usually call the Albuquerque, Madson, WI, and Lansing, MI stores.. ;)

I was off by a couple bucks but I already know to get Far Cry 2 on PS3 when I go to GS that is still funny to me how BB loves the PS3 so much.
