View Full Version : Army of Two (360/PS3 - Used) $9.99 w/Free Shipping at GameFly
I fought myself as hard as I could, but I lost the battle. In for 1. I had it at one point, and it's more UT3 engine fodder, but for $10 there's not much I can say no to :D (Simpons game and R6V2 have company now)
Incredible deal. I get 10% off too for longstanding membership, so w/tax only $9.44 shipped. Thanks again CheapyD.

Ok I have a few questions. How bad is this game in CO-OP in terms of language, and content? Are there any options to turn language/gore down/off? I'm not too concerned about the gore. unless it's extreme, it's mainly the language and content. I'm always looking for cheap co-op games to play with my son and he likes shooters and squad based stuff. I guess the only other thing is if it's actually a good game?
Does the not minding gore, but having a problem with the language strike anybody else as odd?

i'd like to see them put the simpsons game up for 9.99 personally cause I missed that at bestbuy.
I decided against this because I'm trying to get different styles of games and I consider this to be like gears but not as good. Wither or not that makes any sense is another story lol.

Yes, I do... this game is pretty violent. And yes, there's a quite a bit of foul language.
I never bothered to look, so I don't know whether either can be turned down or off.

No, it doesn't--profanity, sexuality, and violence are all very different things and individuals should be free to weigh their appropriateness as they see fit.

you can turn off the foul language and gore in gears2, which is weird. I mean what's a kid going to think when they saw somebody in half with a lancer and there's no gore? I don't see how that makes the game anymore kid-friendly or however you want to put it.

I haven't seen a deal yet that has gone out of stock, lol.
The only thing may be is that those who order at 4:00 AM probably get the games faster than people who order around this time or later. RSV2 deal I bought around the same time, and it just shipped out Monday. While others got it alot sooner.

Does the not minding gore, but having a problem with the language strike anybody else as odd?
Nice, give me shit for trying to be a responsible parent. I did say I minded extreme gore but you somehow missed that point. In the ratings there's varying degrees of gore, for instance Halo 3 is listed as "Blood and Gore, Mild Language, Violence" which isn't in my book bloody or gory at all. Then you have Army of Two that's listed as "Blood, Intense Violence, Strong Language" which makes Halo 3 seem far worse "visually". On top of that there's my favorite Condemned listed as "Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language" which is just as bad "visually" as Halo 3, right? Let's face it the ESRB sucks as far as trying to find out what's actually in games. Halo should have been rated T as far as I'm concerned. With some games having settings for language and gore like Gears of War 2 and World at War. I never said I'd rather him ripping through someone with a Lancer over hearing the word fuck. There's also varying degrees of language just like gore anyway I don't swear around him, I'd rather a game not being doing it either besides he's not the only one in the house either. I don't need the youngest running around the house saying "fuck-O".

So you need the game to be equal or even better than the new 50-60$ with high review scores gears of war 2 to be able to justify buying it at the price of $10.
Don't you think you asking for a little too much?
Read the reviews and comments, watch some gameplay videos, then see if its not worth 10$.
But if your going to base your purchasing decision base on if this 10$ game with mixed to average review scores to GOW2 than you already had your answer before you asked.

Sweet, grabbed 1 for my friend and 1 for myself. We both rented this awhile back and it was a lotta fun. Due to me being busy most of the time, we weren't able to finish it within that week timeframe rental. Not worth retail price, but at $9.99, that seems reasonable. The lag was an issue back then...so I'm hoping they patched it up since.

I'm in the small minority who's gotten horribly scratched games from GameFly. After all the testimonials of everyone getting like new games from them, I've tried three different times and gotten discs that looked like they were hit with a power sander. I kept thinking each time was an anomaly and the next one would be like new condition, but it's not worth the risk anymore. Buying used games online is too hit or miss when you can't see the product first.

Man that's a shame - I have had a limited experience with gamefly - two trials and then order one or two used games when they have free shipping and never have I seen even a small scratch on a disk. On the other hand - I find amazon, ebay, half, gamestop, etc I rarely get flawless disks. Hence why I prefer new usually - but gamefly is usually top notch.
Anybody recommend Enemy Territory:Quake Wars? It is 9.99 free shipping.
I hope for a few more deals - I mean technically they never knock more than a few bucks off and free shipping - but it is a big discount compared to buying elsewhere.

Don't worry, no number of testimonials like yours will get any "YMMV" exclusions from future posts like that. Somehow, Gamefly renters are magical gamers that treat rental property better than the rest of the world. Plus they somehow cast a magical spell on the postal system to be delivered over and over again without damage.

It could be the distribution center you get your games from. I have ordered no less than 10 games from them and have been a member for 2 years now and I have never had a scratched disc from a buy.

Well I have always gone on the assumption that games they tend to sell are those that either never rented as well or no longer rent as well as they estimated/expected. So if they are surplus I wouldn't be surprised if many of them got little to no use. It wouldn't make sense for them to sell games that are in high demand. So that is why I figure the majority of people don't have an issue with it.
Every rental store does something similar - you see 100 copies of some movies and you have to assume every copy doesn't get rented as much,e specially after the first week.

It wouldn't make sense for them to buy a bunch of copies that never got rented either, since they aren't exactly known for getting new releases in people's hands immediately (they can surely do some type of JIT inventory model where if they get enough demand they want to fill they run out and buy more).
I can say I've never gotten a rental or purchase from them unless it was a day 1 rental that wasn't obviously used by a typical renter.

They are all like that because they open the game and take the disk out and then store the case and manual away and send the disk only out. So they usually have some scratches even though the case is new, unless you're buying PS3 disks, then there's usually no scratches because of their awesome scratch resistant coating.

Obviously it has been resurfaced, and poorly at that. Looks like they only did a single phase job on it ( Game Crazy uses JFJ machines from what I know, which has two polishing discs / two different polishing compounds).
Disappointed.

... unless you're buying PS3 disks, then there's usually no scratches because of their awesome scratch resistant coating.
... or because no one actually rents them! (ducking the onslaught of fanboy shoes) :bouncy:

Haven't received mine yet. The games I have received are:
The Club
Dark Sector
Rainbow 6: Vegas 2
All of the above games came in A+ (like new) packaging with a cherry disc, no scratches. I honestly dont care if it's resurfaced, it doesn't impact anything.
Ones that are still coming:
Army of Two
Kane & Lynch

I JUST got the "your item has shipped on 12/16" email today.
Holy crap i have no idea why they shipped my copy so freaking late.
There was no problems with the payment as far as i know.
All well it doesn't matter because i already played the game before and just wanted it for my collection.

Well, I finally got my Army Of Two today, along with Unreal Tournament 3. You would think with them coming from Fla. and me in Ga, I would've gotten them sooner, but whatever...didn't really have time for them at the moment anyways.
The boxes were in perfect condition, but the disks were covered in tiny little scratches like a kitten was trying to learn how to walk on them. I'm going to run them through a polisher and then test them out...hopefully they work fine or it's just another hassle to return these things. :bomb:

Eh that sucks, where do you get your games from with GameFly? i live in Michigan and it comes from ironically... my favorite team's town, Pittsburgh *Is a major Penguins fan since 1995*

Got mine today and it had a couple of tiny, tiny scratches but was near perfect. So far I'm batting 5 for 5 with GameFly and the condition the games are in.

Finally received my AoT and Kane and Lynch today not that I was in a hurry to add them to my backlog. Both disks looked pristine and cases as always are perfect. I've had a ton of luck with GF. Of the 5 recent deals I got in on only GH: Aeorsmith had slight scratches but I ended up trading it in for $23 to Gamerush sunday after I bought the cheapass Rockband 2 bundle.
And the to post above, AoT is made by EA and they make the absolute worst manuals ever ever EVER. lol

I got my Zoids in the mail today, and not surprisingly, it was scratched to hell as usual. That's four GameFly games in a row now.
I'm thinking that any used 360 game is going to be scratched to death now, since those things scratch if you look at them the wrong way. More word needs to get out to NOT put your 360 on its side. First few months I owned my 360 I had it upright and found that games were getting scratched up, but since I've kept it horizontal, I've never seen another scratch on any of my discs.

I was wondering where this thread went.
I got mine yesterday. Disc looks in excellent condition. Pristine really. In the 3 months I got gamefly , beyond the occasional smudges, they all were, really. But maybe thats cus Ive only tried PS3 games, and that scratch resistant coating?
Anyways Im happy.
