You should. I added that R2-D2 robot on Tuesday for $60 and kept it there until about 11PM before I bought it. I just couldn't pass up that little bugger. lol

My check out price shows $49.99

However, I'm not buying it, because I added a blue ray movie, and the remote, and I enter the promno code so the blue ray remote is free, but it wont give it to me free.

Does the blue ray remote deal not work if you're already getting a deal on the game?

poo - don't get the whole LE/CE craze. i would have bought reg edition for $30 - 35 - but all this extra junk - no thanks. oh well.

i absolutely hate collecters, special, limited, etc.. editions... I got roped into buying the Tales of vesperia SE on release day, just b/c im a HUGE tales fan, and everyone i went to was sold out, and eventually one store had the SE left, and i wanted it so bad, i was like fuck it. just give me the game, and i essentially wasted $10 dollars i could have saved.

theres a number of reasons i hate them really, the biggest being the frigging case they come in... whether it be a tin, or some huge box, its a pain in the ass to store on the shelf with my other games. I would rather a normal case maybe with just a shiny holographic cover underneath the foil.

second reason i dislike them is b/c the extras you get are 95% o0f the time pretty pointless.... i dont want all these little collectible shits to clutter up my house, i just want the game. now. i guess some people are into the collectibles and figurines, but not I.

if they were smart, what i would really like to see, that may make me actually want a SE is clothing. something i can use. give me tshirt or a hat or something. Hell, give me a strategy guide. Heck, give me some free game. I remember the SE of windwaker came with that promo gamecube zelda game with OoT and MM on it. they are the kinda deals i want to dish out some extra cash on, not like plastic figures, books, and cds.

Spidey Blu-rays next...If it isn't Spidey 3 for $5 or the set for $15, I'm passing. No, the next one is the "entertain the kids" one that we don't seem to have a clue about.

The Spiderman one is at 8PM ET.

I think the Fallout 3 CE is worth it, I paid full price for mine and dont regret it. What I like about the bobble head and lunchbox is they both appear in game. So to me they have a little more meaning than alot of the generic crap often stuffed into LE's.

I thought the price was good till end of the day. On the last Wii Lightning Deal Day, I had 2 items in cart showing the discount. When I checkout and went through with the purchase, one of the items discount didn't show up. I called Amazon. It could be independent. But I would be shocked if Wall-E or another high profile animated movie would be put before anything from Sony Pictures (keeps the theme going). To be honest, I rather have ANY Pixar movie before Open Season or Surf's Up. Fingers crossed, as I haven't bought Wall-E yet on Blue-Ray.

You can see what the deal is before it goes live.Same concept as the Amazon Xmas deals that were going on.Just set your clock on your computer a day or a few hours ahead and the deal pops up showing what it is.It does it super fast though and changes back just as fast so you gotta be quick to notice it.I saw Resistance 2 about 5 minutes before the deal went live.Still cant get the Spidey one to show for me though.I think its gotta be within a few minutes of going live before it shows or otherwise if you set you clock ahead the counter just gets bigger and you dont see anything.

That's very true, however you really must like all movies for it to be actually wort it. Not saying that that is hard, since all 3 Spiderman movies are great but we have many people that are extremely picky in the world.

Indiana Jones

I would've bought them if 1) they hadn't stripped a lot of the special features from the first two movies (because you know they're going to double dip), and 2) it's not a trilogy like Lord of the Rings, The Godfather, Ocean's Eleven or The Matrix because they're planning to make more.

It's like when the "Saw trilogy" came out to coincide with... Saw IV.

True enough. I'm less excited about 3 and will probably only watch it once or so. But I don't despise the film, and definitely want the 1st two.

Weak, weak Spidey trilogy deal... I heard the first two movies have no bonuses and are of subpar PQ.

High-Def Digest says the opposite on the vid quality:

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/594/spiderman_trilogy.html

"In general, all three transfers deliver a level of depth and detail that is usually stellar. There are definitely sequences throughout the trilogy that can easily serve as demo material. Given my personal distaste for high-contrast transfers, I was most impressed by darker scenes in each film, which tend to feature more pleasing colors for a smoother, natural image. Shadow delineation is also excellent across all three films, with an impressive level of detail visible in even the dimmest interiors."

The only real complaints seem to be the quality of the original source for Spider-Man 1, whose CG effects were less refined. Short of redoing parts of the film, that isn't going to change.

The lack of bonus features is both disappointing and confusing, but I don't care all that much.

I usually refer to these when trying to get an idea of how PQ's and AQ's are:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=858316
http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/594/spiderman_trilogy.html

Not sure if there are more reliable ones. But they seem to be pretty consistent, afaik. I thought you guys might find them helpful.

Since it was that price already I am hoping for a deal on Wall-E instead.

12-18-2008, 07:52 PM
I just guessed the panda 'cause it's been on sale before and seems to be title that has been heavily pushed. I don't know if a top-tier title like Wall-E will go up, partly because it is already a good seller, and mostly because Disney/Buena Vista can be stingy on discounts for strong sellers.

Regardless, I've got two kiddies so I gots to jump on the deal if it's a movie I don't already have. :p

I added the Spiderman Blu-Ray to my cart as soon as I saw it come up (right as I was about to leave work), but I didn't actually buy it until I got home. So it should go by when you "Add to Cart.."

But who knows. $14 for some pretty decent bluray movies? I'll take that.

Did anyone see that list on Amazon yesterday of the guy predicting what each deal was going to be (in the deal announcement thread)? I think that so far he's nailed every one. I know most of them have been pretty obvious, but that's still pretty good.

What is your PC like? FO3 on the PS3 has graphics that resemble the PC version on the lowest possible settings.

As long as your PC has a Geforce 7600 or better, it will blow the PS3 version out of the water in terms of effects, shadows, lighting, draw distance, framerate, details, LOD, resolution etc...

If PS3 is your only viable gaming console, then yes it is worth it. I've logged 80 hours into FO3 and I still have a few sidequests to go.

Although once you hit the level cap it gets kind of pointless to explore, the DLC will fix that (no PS3 DLC)

And if you think about the history of Bethesda, they will likely do a GOTY version for the PS3 in 1.5 years w/ all the expansions

Bare bons means future double dip. Look at what Fox is doing with a lot of their titles. And Universal is releasing a lot of Blu-ray titles with less special features than their HD-DVD versions.

As for Fallout 3, I want a really really good deal. Like $39.99 with a code for more off. Now, what is a CAG type of deal.

Also, does anyone know if the 'patch' for the PS3 did more than just add trophies, of which I could care less about? I want actual fixes for game bugs that made Gamespot, and others, rate the game lower than the other versions.

There's a couple good guesses at lightningdeals for the next offer. I'm thinking a collection of movies--maybe a 3-pack of different family films. I just hope if it is a collection, it's not of stuff I already own.

thats one of the funniest things ive ever seen

Let's see, we have a TR game which typically ends up in bargain bins within 90 days or so of launch and we have a highly game-filled hoilday season with AAA games, of which TR is not.

Tomb Raider: Underworld is one of the best games this year. I'll be shocked if it's not my game of the year as Legend was.
