For those new to Rockband, you might want to check this out too:

link to CC disc-only RB1 for 16 bucks.
Thanks, I'd prefer borrowing it but for 58 songs, that's a steal. Now I have to think if $11 outweighs the conveinence factor.
And thank you op! Got to tru 10 minutes before opening and got in on the ps3 version's deal, giftcard and all, to my amazement. Awesome.

I slept in, just woke up to check on this deal. The people here had me convinced this was an error. I remember reading some say it was for rock band 1, flat out price error, and someone even said they passed by a toysrus and they had a sign that said the deal was a misprint.
I hope those people weren't trying to spread disinformation to fool others, I really do.
Anyway eastcoaster here it's 10:45AM now I called my local toysrus, to see if they had any in stock and no one is picking up =(. I doubt they have any left now.
That's probably because they also had Wii's advertised....that is all they kept asking me at the TRU I stopped at. I got the PS3 version of RB2 and they asked me if I wanted a Wii as well. They still had a palette of Wii's when I left.

Brookfield wisconsin only had 2 Xbox 360 and 4 PS3, After checking out I talked to the manager who said it was a price error, but they were honoring it. It sounded like the the reduced price was meant for a later sale without the gift card. I also got the impression that they pulled most of their stock but left a few. Still a kick ass deal, like guitar hero world tour a couple weeks ago.
Wanna confirm again that it's true (no pun intended) for North Riverside, IL. Couldn't believe I saw someone else on here post confirmation about that location. There were around 4 left for PS3 and 360 when I bought mine, and I only picked up 1 to give everyone else a fair chance lol.

TRU had 2 x360 RockBand2 SE's in their system, but the clerk couldn't find them... so I went to Best Buy not expecting much and the girl began processing the price match without any trouble. Her supervisor walked by and casually said $109.99 right? She already knew all about it. I decided to push my luck and asked if they could match the gift card too. One call to the manager and they knocked another $25 off the kit and charged me for the gift card. I guess I could have returned the gift card and gotten a real steal, but I used the card to buy Carnival Games for my daughter.

great deal. saw it yesterday when it was posted, but the wife would kill me if I brought another set of plastic instruments home.
Yay, got one today! They had quite a few left for the PS3, didn't see any for the 360 but they may have been in the back.
Deal of the year?

It is most definitely a misprint and I can confirm that not all tru are honoring it. My local one wasn't... It's supposed to be 109.99 for RB1 se or 189.99 for the RB2 se w/ gc. I'd say if there's a tru near you, try it. but otherwise, if you wait, they'll probably have it fixed. :( oh well...

Another success story here.
Went to the Anchorage, AK TRU store, only 1 other guy in line at 6:50 looking for Wii Fit. After about 5-10 minutes of waiting for the employees looking to find the PS3 version, it rang up at 109 + gift card. Thanks OP for the heads up on a great deal.
Or you could allow other people to pick it up instead of reselling it at a larger price for yourself. You know what that's called? Greed.
I am letting other people pick it up. I got mine really early this morning and I'm waiting to see if there is any left at night. I only got 1 RB2, instead of buying 2 at the same time.

got one this morning for my bro (360 bundle) at the san mateo (norcal), then i realized i should get one for myself as well. i had just dropped him off at the airport and they were enforcing the 1 per customer policy, so i drove down to the san carlos one and got the last ps3 bundle there. luckily enough the $25 gift card i had just gotten worked (it says on the ad that it'll work 12 hours after activation, but it was worth a shot), so it came out to $119.06 and $94.06 for two bundels!
just fyi, the san mateo toysrus had at least 4 of each on the floor as of 7am and the san carlos one had about 10 360 ones left. happy hunting, cags, and thanks to the OPs who posted and confirmed it!

Just returned from Culver City, CA store. Surprised to find about 13 XBox versions on the floor (12 now ;)
They had zero PS3 copies. Another guy who saw the ad was looking for the PS3 version and was debating the drive about 10 miles to the one which had 6 copies of the PS3 version in stock (Hawthorne).

Just picked up a copy at TRU in LIC, Queens, NY! They had a nice stack of 360 ones (maybe 10) and maybe 6 of the ps3.
I paid 104 after I used my gift card from GOW2. Nice Job TRU!
FYI the cashier knew all about the deal and told me how much it would ring up as before I even opened my mouth.

I saw this, gasped, and called my local store. They confirmed it, and I headed down there.
They told me the gift card took 24 hours to activate, so I couldn't use it towards RB2, but nevertheless I got it for the $109.99 w/ the gift card. I even picked up a product replacement plan given that it's 3 pieces of wireless accessories, and I had saved so much.
Thanks, CAG and OP!

Yea but when you buy your second one, are you going to sell it for $109? Probably not. Buying another one just to profit off of your own greed is disgraceful, especially when it's the "season of giving." Instead of buying another one, why don't you allow a struggling parent who happens upon this deal so that they can make their kid's Xmas a great day? Oh that's right, you would rather resell it back to them at your profit...brilliant.
You know...I think I've heard of that thing you speak of on the news..."Greed" you call it. I'm pretty sure it's what's responsible for this economic crisis.
Yea it does sound familiar doesn't it? ;)
Can we all make an inside deal within the community about this situation? Can we all just buy one for ourselves OR one for a gift? Look, I'm all for flipping normally (yes my views have changed since before, I admit it) but at this time of the year, and with the economy the way it is, this deal could potentially make some kid's and their parent's holiday season special. Taking $80 off of a product like this is a make or break deal for many people at this time. I'm appealing to the CAG's sense of common decency and unselfish ways, that's all. Call me a softy, but I know my parents weren't able to buy stuff like this for me when I was younger and I know how hard it is out there. I'm just saying...

got the last ps3 version, but there was about 6 xbox 360 versions left (as of 11:00 am local time)
Our BB in Chicago (Elston) wouldn't price match. They said TRU isn't local competition even though they are about 2mi apart. I wanted to go through BB since I have a gift card there. Pretty sad excuse to not honor their price match policy.

Good idea. But I hate to say this but with this being out everywhere I doubt it would matter if all CAGs got one.
Yesterday at SD I saw three people already saying that they will buy out as many as they had and eBay/Craigslist them to someone for profit.
So yea I doubt, it would matter. But I agree with you as it would be a great gift for a parent to pick up at this price but I doubt many will be able to get to them before they are scooped up.

I respect your opinion. The crappy part about video games is that they are $60 to $200 a pop. I used to work for video game companies and they sell there games for $15 to 30(for normal games) and $35 to $50 (GH: Bundles) if your an employee and they are factory sealed. Thats some major inflation don't you think. Since you've comment I've come to my senses and not going to purchase another one. Even though its soooooo tempting to get.

I just picked one up for my nephew... the toys r us in philly must have had at least 60 for the 360 and about 20 for the PS3... not anywhere near in short demand. They also had the Wii one for $99 (rock band 1)
For the flippers I don't really see the worth... you'd gain about $10 trading it in or you can sell it on ebay and get beat on shipping (it has to cost at least $25 to ship, another $20 in ebay/paypal fees,... you'd have to sell it to a sucker for $180 + $25 shipping to even consider a reasonable profit and anyone that dumb deserves to be had)
Mine also wasn't honoring it saying they were waiting to hear back from Corporate on it. Some people were trying to buy them at the registers instead of in the game section and they were being told the 189.99 price. I was going to pick one up for my little brother but not at full price

Houston willowbrook had about 8 copies for the ps3. Did not see xbox version but I did not look too hard....as of about 8:30 this morning...
The person in the VG dept acted like they had no clue about it all..they were surprised when it rung up $80 off, and then had to hunt around to try to find some giftcards to give me the $25.
A pretty good deal overall...now, how to explain it to the wife...

Well that proves my point then. Do we want to be in the same category as those people on SD? I sure don't. I'm a CAG, not a greedy hoarder.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm also sorry, but I didn't meant to single you out. I just wanted to use your post as an example of what the mindset of some people are. It's one thing to flip, it's another to literally take away an Xmas gift from someone. I'm glad you've changed your mind, but the decision is ultimately yours and everyone else's regardless of what I say. It's a time of year where some families don't get an opportunity to surprise their kids on Xmas day. All I'm saying is that you can do more by doing nothing when it comes to this deal. The one you leave at the store might be the one that a surprised kid gets on Xmas day.

Scored a 360 version at the Robinson, PA TRU, completely hassle-free - it rang up at $110 and the clerk gave me the $25 GC no problem - I didn't even say anything, since I'd just given him the RB2:SE ticket along with the Sunday ad. Going by the tickets they still had probably around another 5 or 6 360 versions and quite a few PS3 versions as of around 11:30 AM, and my guess is they may last a little while longer since everyone at the store was there for a Wii or other random toys & games. :-P Thanks OP!

I was able to capitilize on this deal mentioned and the current one, had to get up early to ensure it especially since a douchebag ahead of me wanted to buy 4 bundles thanks for the 1 per customer limit I grabbed one, I'm sure that prick went back and got the others to put on flea bay.....bastards....The only thing I wasn't sure of was to get the Warranty on this since it was $23 I felt it was a little to high to add it, although technically the gift card would've made it a wash...I'm wondering if anybody got a warranty on it at all or think it's worth it? Aren't these bundles supposed to be better made than the first rockband ones?

I saw someone bringing up a bundle to the register as I walked into the LIC TRU sometime just past 11:30ish. Was that you?
Anyway, LIC TRU had quite a few as mentioned. I decided to grab an ad and price match it at the LIC best buy since I had about $80 in GCs there. The store manager wouldn't honor the $25 GC deal and also said he just received an email from corporate not to honor the deal. Do they normally not honor GC deals? He still gave it to me without a GC for 109 anyway and I walked out with the bundle for about $30 out-of-pocket. Thanks all!

Snagged the last one at the Citrus Heights, CA TRU. They only had one PS3 one left when I walked in around 8AM which is what I wanted.
Afterwards, I jammed over to the Roseville CC and picked up what appeared to be the last copy of Rock Band in the clearance bin for $16.96.

It looks like the TRUs in Kansas City are honoring the ad. At least they were as of about 10:30AM. I was about 5 minutes too late to the Metro North store in the Kansas City Northland. I watched some mom walk out with the last PS3 bundle. I went next door to Best Buy and they refused to PM the deal.
On the way home I stopped at Wally World. It took about 20 minutes but I got the PM! The sales associate in electronics was awesome. She was super friendly and was doing everything she could to make sure I got the PM. She was willing to do it no questions asked but had to call a manager over to override the price since it was such a heavy discount.
I thought I was screwed b/c I heard the associate say "Uh oh, we got the worst one!" as the manager was walking up. She was a complete bitch the entire time she was at the register not only to me but all of the employees in the area. She did everything she could to try and find a loophole in the ad in order to shoot me down.
Finally she agreed to the PM but said "I can't match the GC, the ad says WITH THE PURCHASE OF RB2." I probably could've argued the point that I WAS buying the game RB2 as it's included in the kit but I was content getting the bundle at almost 1/2 off. I just said "OK" and left.

If you can get them to do it Sears will PM the price + 10% of the difference. The only problem is the last time I PMed a game they had to verify it by looking up the price on-line.

Woke up, checked this forum as I usually do, saw this, grabbed my 5yo and headed out. Got there, there was one 360, and on PS3 RB2SE on the self marked at $189. Went to the front of the store, grabbed the flyer, went back, picked up the 360 version and prepared myself for a argument at the counter. Was gonna give them the whole 'took me 35 minutes to drive out here' ect ect. To my surprise it rang up at $109. Mad props to the original poster. Only down side was I promised my 5yo a $25 toy, and when we went to check out the teller wouldnt let me use the gift card. You have to wait 12 hours or something like that.
Even funnier is that when we where shopping for the toy, I heard another customer asking for the 360 RB2. Hope it wasn't one of you, but I got mine! It was the Plymouth MN store FWIW.
I'm going to make a trip up there in a couple hours to try and grab it. I alread have 4 guitars, a Rock Band 1 drum kit (but the kick pedal is busted), a mic, and both Rock Band games, but I'll pick up this bundle for the new drums, and then just give everything else away as gifts.

Damn, that's awesome. The Best Buy around here (Cary, NC) had a manager behind customer service shooting down anyone that tried to price match, including me. She had some printout that basically told her not to take it. She also felt the need to inform me that the ad was a typo. I'm not sure when they hired such stalwart employees, but they were really uptight about making sure TRU had it in stock as well (our local store didn't, unfortunately).
So I'm up for suggestions on other places to pricematch. I might try Sears, since it's been mentioned previously...

I'm not sure when they hired such stalwart employees, but they were really uptight about making sure TRU had it in stock as well (our local store didn't, unfortunately).
So I'm up for suggestions on other places to pricematch. I might try Sears, since it's been mentioned previously...
WM and CC also do price matches...good luck man!

Thanks all!
I had a grey jacket, blue jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. I was there @ 1130 or so so that could have been me. Anyways nice score fellow nyc cag.

I was able to pick up 2 for the PS3. They're sold out locally now. The cashier was cool and let me ring them up seperately and use the gift card from the first purchase on the second one. I'll sell one of them and my copy will end up costing me an obscenely low amount, heh.
I had no intentions of picking this up, but what the heck. My 6 year old niece and nephew stay with us all the time and they were having a ball with it this morning. I'm just decent at the guitar but I'll never be good on the drums. I think my wife will like the singing once she gets used to it.

Is it YMMV on whether Wal Mart will take a print out from the TRU site?
The nearest TRU is about 40 minutes away and my Wal Mart is literally 2 minutes.
The wife said if I buy it she's paying and it's going under the tree to X-Mas...

I got the 360 version this morning at TRU. They had a printed out sign with the deal on it that was taped to the display of Rock Band 2 SE's, so I think was a known TRU deal. My local BB would pm the $110 but said no to matching the GC.

Got one 360 bundle here in Johnson City, TN @ about 7:15 this am...me, one other guy, and a girl who worked in the store and had reserved it for herself the night before were the only one's there to pick up a copy, and they only had 3 available. Store manager was unaware of the ad, and when I showed it to him he was like "Man, that's a steal of a deal...I might have to pick one up for myself!" Got the gift card and all with hassle at all, well worth the trip...thanks CAG! Now I just have to return that one I bought at Wal-Mart before TRU opened, lol...

I missed the last PS3 bundle by 5 minutes! SO I got the 360 bundle, and a copy of GH Areosmith for $45 to round out the kit. Now I have to trade in my PS3 version of GH3 with Les Paul!! Also, the deal was clearly posted at and around the bundles at the TRU I went too (Meadows Mall, Las Vegas).

Picked up one in Burbank around 9:30. The cashier commented that they were pretty much giving it away. There were stacks of them left. (X360 for sure, I didn't bother looking for PS3) He said almost no one had come in for them.
Thanks OP. Hadn't purchased any of the full band sets yet, but this was just too good to pass up. I'm just disappointed that none of the people I have to buy gifts for could use one as well!

Read this last night and thought the ad was a total typo. No way they would be selling Rock Band 2 at more than 40% off when Rock Band 1 bundles haven't really seen a drastic price cut yet. Then when people started confirming the sale I took off.
TRU in Fayetteville, GA had only 3 left... all PS3. Luckily that was what I needed. The cashier said the store at Southlake Mall had sold out of both systems before 10 AM. Confirmed that we CAN NOT use the gift card for 12 hours.... so Monday.
Went next door to Best Buy and they had TONS of Rock Band 1 and 2 bundles for all systems. One guy was about to buy a Rock Band 2 PS3 bundle and I told him run next door right now and grab one of the two they had left and save some serious money.
Thanks CAGers!! Long time lurker and first time posting for such a great deal!!
Unfortunately, when I stopped by, My TRU (In Orange Park) said the deal had been going on all week, and all had been claimed. I was so dead set on getting one. Ah!

I was really surprised when I saw the TRU ad this morning, and called the nearest TRU to confirm the price. Ran out to the store (Minneapolis, MN area) shortly after 9:00am, and picked up a copy for the 360. Had been planning to wait to pick this up until after Christmas, but with an $80 discount off-the-top and a $25 Gift Card on top of that, it's hard to imagine getting a better deal than that!

Does anyone on CAG want me to pick one up for them? I live in CT and if they are willing to drive to pick it up I wouldn't mind giving it to you at cost. I just have no clue how I'd ship this thing and it'd prolly kill the deal. Gas is pretty cheap tho, so a drive might be worth it if you are 2 hours in range.

Anybody notice that all the ads at their TRU were pulled at the store. Not only that but the price still shows $189 on the tags. I wonder how many people are not informed about the actual deal.
We saw a ton of RB2 left for both the 360 and PS3. We only bought one and don't feel like trying to flip any on ebay. Too much risk for a very small gain. After paypal, ebay fees, shipping and taking a risk of someone not being happy with the condition after shipping, it just not worth the risk.

I didn't think this was a good deal at first but after seeing tons of replies in this thread and the one on Slickdeals I quickly changed my mind. I ran out the door at 11:30 and thought it would all be OOS when I get there but luckily there were a couple stacked up in the game area under a sign that said SALE: comes with a special 25 dollar gift card (no mention of the price). Surprisingly there were tons of other people there and I thought SHIT! they're all buying it! but nah, they were buying Wii's and other crap. I grabbed myself a 360 version without any hassle. Will use the GC towards another guitar or the first version of the game.
Thanks for deal OP.

I just got off the phone with corporate (to see it tru.com will PM - they won't BTW). No 360 or ps3 within 50 miles. It is NOT a price mistake per corporate. And b4 any bitches complain that I called -this information was added by the rep- I did not bring up the price. She said she was going to get one and that they have not received any emails from the home office saying not to honor the price.
I also hit BB, they had it but will only PM the 109.99, not the $25 GC. The 'store manager' said any BB that PMs a giftcard "made the wrong decision".

I went and got my copy PM'ed and picked up Soul Bubble since they put it on a value card I was able to.
Then I saw a guy picking up the last 3 PS3 bundles...with seperate reciepts (Obviously for Gift Reciepts for Craigs List selling). Being the nice guy I am I started small talk and he is SD'er found out about this blah, blah, blah. I helped the guy get them in the cart. He wanted the last PS3 bundles. Unfortunately for him he got one of the PS3 bundles and two Wii Bundles.
Then I went to get my Soul Bubble and the guy looked rather mad when he went back to switch the last two bundles and found that they were gone (One older couple and a young Mom got them).
I couldn't help but smile not only because of that but seriously RB2, $25 GC and Soul Bubble for 109 plus tax great deal.

It is not a mistake. The deal is simply Rock Band 2:SE for $109.09 with the purchase of a $25 Gift Card.
As soon as I saw this thread, I went over there and purchased one for the 360. They had at least 10-15 360s left and about the same for the PS3. This is the TRU in Woodbridge, NJ. I tried price matching with the Best Buy in Woodbridge too but they said they do not honor Gift Card deals.
I also tried the Best Buy in Union, NJ and they said the same thing. So, I don't know if anyone would have luck elsewhere.

They were sold out of the 360 version at the Toys R Us in Columbia, MD. Had a good amount of PS3 versions left...about 5-7 I'd say.
I was able to price match it in the Walmart at Hanover. At first they didn't want to give it to me since they said it needs to be in the immediate area. I then talked to the Asst Mngr and she said it was ok, that it was still part of their district. No gift card of course, but still at that price I did not mind purchasing it. I always wanted to get it, but paying almost for a whole new console was not something I wanted to do.

Holy fuck! Thanks to the OP. I woke up this morning thinking this was a dead deal, checked CAG, realized it was alive and was lucky enough to pick one up for a friend who wanted to get it. Thank you CAG!
Well, I had decided not to go at 6:30 AM but I sent an email to a friend who I knew wanted it. Then I went to bed. Apparently between then and 8:30 am we got a bunch of snow. She called around and went out anyway and snagged a 360 bundle for her son for Christmas. So though I wasn't able to get in on it, I was able to spread the CAGness, so that's good I guess ;).
For all I know they might still have some PS3 copies, but I definitely don't think it's worth driving 20 miles in ice and snow for it... I live somewhere where snow is not normal, so my street is a mess.
Picked up a 360 bundle this morning in Clackamas, OR. There were several up high on a shelf and more in the back room.
Thank you to the OPs of the ad. Best deal I have picked up from CAG in a long time. Now to rent RB1 to get even more tunes!
This is the store my friend went to! At 9:30 AM or so they only had 2 360 bundles left according to her. I'm surprised anyone is out buying anything with the weather here. Seriously, I don't think I can get down my street ;).

No luck at Toys R Us (Cary, NC) at 7 am this morning -- they didn't even have any Rock Band 2 bundles in stock for either platform. Instead of driving 30-45 minutes to the other TRU in the area, I just did a pricematch at a local Wal-Mart for the XBox 360 version. Under $120 out the door, but no gift card. Still can't complain about that.

I wish I hadn't just bought Rockband 1 SE for PS2 for $73 shipped from Hot Topic a month ago, this is a way better deal. Are the drums better quality for Rockband 2? I know the pedal for the drums with Rockband 1 is bad and I am afraid it is going to break soon even though we try to use it lightly.

My girlfriend and I both picked up 360 versions in Tustin, CA (she had to drive over because they wouldn't let me buy two of 'em), and when we left at 11:30am, there were still 12 360s and at least 20 PS3s.
Since they aren't advertising it in-store, the only people picking them up are those who've spotted the deal, so they weren't flying off the shelves.

Hmm...I never go shopping at TRU. If they are out of stock of a sale item on the flier, do they offer a rain check for it? I'm asking because I'm stuck studying for finals and have no way of going to TRU before Tuesday night, as most of my friends with cars are also studying for finals.

Bought a PS3 bundle in Tallahassee, FL this morning at 7am, they had about 5-6 bundles of both the PS3 and 360 version. Would have bought the 360 version if it wasn't for the fact that my 360 sounds unreliable (sounds like a plane taking off when I turn it on) and my roommate sharing all his DLC songs with me through PSN.
FYI when the cashier scanned it it came up as 189.99 but when she finalized it it went back down to 109.99.

I had to drive to four different TRU stores. The first didn't have any, the second had one for Xbox and no PS3, the third had three Xbox and no PS3. Finally, at the fourth store they had about three for the PS3. A guy in front of my grabbed one, I grabbed the second one, and the third one was still there (but the box was all ripped up on that one).
I've been shopping around and waiting on a deal on this bundle. I'm glad I jumped on this.

Just returned from picking up the PS3 version at Toys r Us here in Scottsdale, AZ. There weren't any 360 versions on the floor, and I got the one PS3 one. I didn't ask if they had any in the back. The store I went to, wasn't advertising it when you walk in, nor in the gaming section. The price posted was 189.99, but the cash register didn't have 'sorry it was a misprint signs', so I know I was in good shape.
A few people ahead of me in line were getting Rock Band 1 full versions. (I also people walking out with GH WT full bundles).
It was different how it rang up. It rings up at full price, then drops down to 109.99, then another 25 came off for the gift card, but then 25 gets added back then tax. Then you get the gift card for a future purchase. But most importantly, no problems what so ever. All in all a great price regardless. Thank you CAG forum. I've always wanted one of the music games, but the price was hard to justify.
Good luck to those looking to get one for a gift or themselves.

No typo, it was a real deal. All four stores I was at said it was a real deal. The only catch is that it is limited in in-store stock, once it flys off the shelf then the deals over.
When they scanned the UPC bar code, it rang up as $189.99 minus $80 off, for a total of $109.99. It also printed to give a gift card of $25.00. So, it is a real deal in the computer. They didn't have to override the price or anything. Just scan the barcode and you are ready to rock and roll.

Only caviot is that the store I was in wasnt showing it on the shelf at the sale price, like everything else in the flyer. So I'm not all that convinced it wasnt a typo. The shelf showed $189 plus $25 gift card. Every other thing in the flyer (as far as I saw) was marked the actual sale price.

Yes. All you need to do is pay for the license transfer which is five dollars. That's tied to your Live/PSN account. If you delete songs and later want them back, you'll need the disc again though.

no, the one on 440, Jersey City.
Since the TRU is part of Hudson Mall some of the shops there do 3.5 sales tax like most malls. Off topic, Bed Bath and Beyond at Jersey Gardens does charge 3.5 sales tax but also an additional Jersey Gardens' mall tax making it basically 7%. Sneaky mustards.

You can return used games with-in a week of buying it.
You can't return new games unless it's for the same game though.
Returns and exchanges are subject to the following guidelines:
• A receipt is required for all returns and exchanges.
• Unopened new merchandise may be returned for a refund or exchanged within 30 days of purchase.
• Opened new merchandise may be exchanged for the identical item within 30 days of purchase but, with
the exception of opened new accessories, cannot be returned for a refund.
• Used (pre-owned) merchandise and opened new accessories may be returned for a refund within 7 days
of purchase or exchanged for the identical item within 30 days of purchase.

Just to make things simple for everyone.
RB1 transfer: Requires disc and online connection. You pay $5 for the transfer license. You can delete any songs you want (only 360) from the hard drive. If you want them back later, you'll need the disc again. You get 55 of the 58 songs ("Enter Sand Man" by Metallica, "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath, and "Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden will not transfer due to licensing issues).
AC/DC Track Pack: One time download code. Disc isn't required just the code.
Track Pack Vol. 2: Same deal as AC/DC.
kklems
12-14-2008, 06:06 PM
For those asking about disc and downloads
XBOX 360 Version
Trackpack 2-one time use code for downloading songs to your console, otherwise you can play the disc as a standalone. By downloading songs it adds them to your rockband library when playing with the main disc for RB1 or RB2
Rockband 1- Pay 400 MSFT points and obtain rights to song in your library while using Rb2 disc. (excludes three songs)
Ac/DC Pack- One time use code for downloading songs. Also a standalone game
DLC from Marketplace: becomes part of library and can be played with RB 1 and 2 setlists.
I am sure someone might have a link that better explains this but for all the people asking about it....

I want to thank the original posters and everyone who replied with successful stories.
I had bought the RB2 bundle at Circuit City just before Thanksgiving for $153.80 (after using a $40 off $200). After reading all the successful stories in this thread, I decided to give pricematching of my original purchase a shot.
Well, it worked! I was refunded the difference PLUS 10%, ($43.81 + $4.38 plus tax).
So, I got the RB2 bundle for $105.61 plus tax.
Not quite as good as also getting the gift card, but plenty good for me.
Thanks again all!

That's just stupid. Wii owners always get the crap. Every wii mulitplatform game never gets on sale when the PS360 versions do. $15 off COD:WAW for PS360, not wii. $105 off PS360 versions of RB2, but not wii. $20 off PS360 version of Force unleashed, but yet again, not wii.

This is the store my friend went to! At 9:30 AM or so they only had 2 360 bundles left according to her. I'm surprised anyone is out buying anything with the weather here. Seriously, I don't think I can get down my street ;).
Well I left my house in vancouver and got out there about 10am, man were the roads a mess out there, they were sold out of both but, called over to the janzen beach TRS which had 9 left of 360(which I didn't even know it had reopened) drove all he way over there threw the snow, uphill both ways ;p. I managed to snag one in the end. Thanks OP!!

This notion that this was a pricing error (apparently even some TRU's are telling folks this) is batty...pricing error in print ad, ok this happens occasionally....but when the ad and they system are in harmony (which it is in this case..when it scans the system knocks $80 off) then it is clearly not an error but just a really good price.
My guess in those cases where TRU's are telling people they can't sell due to an error is more likely employee's realizing "I can put these on craigslist for $140 and make myself $50 a shot which is a lot more than the $10 an hour this place pays me".

they will not accept a prepackaged game, i.e. new unopened...and if the employee follows their guidelines they cannot witness you open the package to try and trade it in for storecredit either...in which you sneer at them, then go to another GS location to get storecredit.

The card says card can be used 12 hours after being activated, but I asked the cashier and they said I could use it right away. So I used it on a X-mas gift.

Ok...well in my experience...
-The Lady who runs the VG (I have come to know her pretty well) had no idea it was on sale and was surprised when it rang up, so that does not seem to indicate that any sort of local action is needed
-In terms of practicality, do you really think that each individual TRU expects their employees to put in the right pricing every week the new sales paper comes out? I am guessing the pricing is set on the corporate ads by corporate and the system is updated there
-Has anyone actually taken one to a TRU register and had it ring up at $190, or just taken it to a register and had an employee say "oh...we are not honoring the ad price on these"? I believe it has only been the latter.
In terms of common sense...so you are saying BF deals are the best deals, period, and are never super-sceded by other deals?
I think this is a good price, and I am guessing that we are seeing with Harmonix what we have been seeing with REd Octane the last few weeks (who has been running a lot of deals)...there is softness in the market for these music games (saturated) and so they are getting what they can when they can and in the case of Harmonix, figure they will make it up with micro-transactions down the line.

I agree... I just don't see the reasoning of this being a "price-error" because it's a better offer than anything on Black Friday.. THAT is a dumb reason.
If it was a price error, I think at the time I bought mine which was like 2:00PM they would have stopped selling them at the price.
The price rang up as ROCK BAND 2 PROMO at 109.99.

Its such a long thread. But would TRU restock or was this morning pretty much it.
The TRU I went to had a ton of them in stock... I went at like 2:00 PM.
I believe there were 10 or so 360 ones left, and about 15 PS3 ones.
Edit: Read the first post.
My first guess is that this is a price mistake or they had a boatload of RB SE's sitting around and meant for it to be that, as they list the PS3 and 360 versions of RB2 SE for that price with a $25 GC. Says it starts 12/14 and ends 12/20.
I'll see if I can get my scanner hooked up... (http://www.movieweb.com/dvd/release/DVHwyLIJs34ILJ)

Ok quick question for everybody. A few weeks ago I picked up Guitar Hero World Tour for the 360 when TRU was offering it for 99.99. Due to missing parts in the box I need to return it any way. Should I swap it for Rock Band 2? Which one is a better game? I do like GHWT, but I see that it got a slightly lower review on IGN than RB2. I couldn't really find a head-to-head comparison of the pros and cons of both their instruments. Thanks for the input guys.

I think GHWT is better as a guitar bundle than the band bundle. The drums are kind of faulty for most people. I really enjoyed GHWT but I think it should have stuck with just the guitar.
I bought RB2 today because it was such a good price. I wasn't going to get the whole bundle at first because last year I got RB1 for Christmas and my guitar stopped working. They sent a new one and that stopped working too. So hopefully this one works better.

I did not do a thorough search of the North Riverside, IL TRU for complete RB2 sets, but I give it a casual glance and did not see any - so take that for what it is worth (I was there for Soul Bubbles, heh). I did see a number of separate drum and guitar pieces, however. :)
Edit: I was at the store at around 4:30 PM.

As a game, I find RB2 to be a little more open because if one person fails others can save him/her. But for GHWT if one fails, everyone else fails.

I bought RB2 and rented GHWT and I think RB2 is definitely better. The songs are a matter of taste but RB does have a lot more songs available because of the DLC and importing from RB1 which you can rent just to do the import. RB2 is also a lot easier on the eyes, the notes are easier to read and even the menus look slicker than they do in GHWT which looks a bit too cartoony. Plus in GHWT when one person fails a song the song ends, in RB if one person fails another person can save them with overdrive.

Hrm, which Wal-Mart, if you don't mind me asking? I live around Cary, and I'm going to go out tomorrow to try my luck again.

If you got this and want to get the RB1 songs you might check your local library network. I intend to request RB1 from a library affiliated with my local town. No charge that way and no worries about being dishonest.
That's a damned good idea! TIME FOR A TRIP TO THE LIBRARY TO HIT ON THE CUTE BOOKWORM CHICKS WITH GLASSES!!!!!.......Oh yeah, and to borrow Rock Band, too.:lol::lol:

but ... after I bought it they told me the replacement plan is NOT IN-STORE replacement. what a BOS!
update: Bought this @ BB last week; brought the TRU receipt into BB for PM. CS had a memo from corp NOT to pm. HOwever, since I had the receipt, they approved the PM ... AND and took the $25 off since they can't give GCs on a PM. Total? $112 adjustment. Thanks OP!

i went to the TRU in Totowa, NJ right after i got off work and grab one they didn't have signs saying it was $109.99 only that you get a free $25 gc so i ask the cashier if it was $109.99 she said yes it was pricing error in their ad but they have to honor it. I paid for it and got my free $25 gc. I couldn't past this upit was too good of a deal and i almost bought this game last week from my job

They were kind of shocked at the price, actually.

Quick question. Is it true that Guitar Hero World Tour's drums with the cymbals are more advanced than the Rock Band 2 drums, as you have to pay more $ for the cymbal add-ons for the Rock Band 2 set?

picked up a 360 bundle today at my local Toys R Us. Sales associate said I couldn't use the gift card today, and had to wait 24 hours before I use it because it was a "promo" gift card. Works out I guess because I don't know what I want to use the gift card on anyway.

Got 1 RB2SE today, at Highland Park, IL. There were 4 when I got there at 11am. An elderly couple grabbed 1, and I grabbed the 2nd. My friend who drove me was on the fence about getting one, finally decided to get it, so he got the 3rd. The 4th and last set was still there when I left.
Prior to my visit at Highland, IL, I called Niles, IL and the TRU on Western Ave., Chicago and they were sold out according to the people on the phone.

my girlfriend is out on a mission buying rockband 2 for me.
So far its not going good. We called the Toys R Us in Aurora, IL. They stated they had plenty of copies of RB2 for 360 but none for PS3. I asked if they could hold one, they said no because they had a no hold policy and i said ok. My girlfriend drove 30 minutes to the toys r us and when she got there, they told her they have been sold out since 7 am this morning. Then when arguing with an employee, they tell her that its only good on rock band 1! So she gets the ad where it plainly says Rock Band 2. Im still awaiting more details as shes talking to a manager now and I'm at work.

That could've been me, or probably one of a few dozen other CAGs ;) I picked up one of each version for myself, then went back for another XB360 version after I found out my little bros are gettin a 360 for X-Mas.

Not to side track this thread, but when I went to Best Buy last night to check out the GHWT and RB2 bundle demos to make sure what I was buying, I asked the guy working the video game section if the instruments are compatible with each others games, and he flat out said 'no'. I know it's not true and I starting to think that their bosses are telling them tell people that so they can sell more stuff. They told me the same thing about swapping out my hard drive for my PS3. A guy said it couldn't be done even after I told him Playstation lists instructions on how to do it.

Confirmed in Phillipsburg, NJ. There were only a couple left for the 360, and probably double that for PS3. Sign didn't say anything about the lower price, just the $25 gift card, but it rings up at the $109 price once they total it.
Crazy deal. Hopefully nobody picked up the drum kit for me as a gift. Why do the deals always come right before Xmas?!?

Hm... that's not terribly far. I think I can reach a CC or Wal-Mart easier, though, if the Best Buy isn't matching the gift card as well. They're real jerks at the Best Buy in Cary, as far as I'm concerned. I might have to start shopping elsewhere.

My TRU was out, so I went to BB only to hear, "we don't honor TRU prices bc they are not a competitor." So I went next door to CC and the guy that helped me said, "yeah we price match." He walked the 360 version to the front and attempted to pull up the TRU add online. I showed him the one I had with me and he called another guy over, who replied, "Whoa, that's a good price," punched something into the computer and said my total is 116 something. I didn't even ask about the gc. Too good a deal to make things complicated.
This is the best deal I've seen this year.

I did forget to mention Price MAtching at wal-mart was a PAIN IN MY ARSE. I was in like for 25 minutes because the first CSM didnt want to override it (after checking it over 30 times to see if it was identical). The second CSM checked it over 4 or 5 times and looked for the toys r us stock number. The third CSM came over, glanced at the ad and said "it's a current ad, and the identical game... 109.99 but no gift card." It was actually a friend's game and he said he'd just give me 140 since I'll be bringing it to him (saved him 68$, because they pay 9.5% sales tax).... and then he's going to CC closeout store and grabbing RB1 for 10.30 tomorrow as well.
Ok my girlfriend said the employee at tru said "we might be getting more on the truck tomorrow, if we do you can get one then but you wont be able to get the gift card." What kind of fucking shit is that?
