I did forget to mention Price MAtching at wal-mart was a PAIN IN MY ARSE. I was in like for 25 minutes because the first CSM didnt want to override it (after checking it over 30 times to see if it was identical). The second CSM checked it over 4 or 5 times and looked for the toys r us stock number. The third CSM came over, glanced at the ad and said "it's a current ad, and the identical game... 109.99 but no gift card." It was actually a friend's game and he said he'd just give me 140 since I'll be bringing it to him (saved him 68$, because they pay 9.5% sales tax).... and then he's going to CC closeout store and grabbing RB1 for 10.30 tomorrow as well.



Completely untrue if the GC rings up at the register, it's yours... is the way i understood it.

That sounds somewhat like the experience I had. The CSM looked over the box for about 10 minute trying to find the model number on it to make sure it was the same one as in the ad...

My local one did, they said they were sure it was a price mistake and were waiting to hear back from corporate. They refused to honor the price.

I think that they were BS'ing you. I went to 2 TRU and neither of them mention a price mistake. It showed at $109.99 on the cash register and no one questioned the price. I was up there early morning at 3:50/4:15 AM.

Also there have been others on here that got their bundles with no problem. I would suggest trying to go to Walmart or CC and try to Price Match the ad.

Bought a PS3 RB2 bundle around 5PM at the Salem, NH TRU. I got the last PS3 bundle on the floor, but they had a ton more above the shelves (at least 10 PS3s and 15 360s). The cashier rung me up with no problems. I was kind of surprised there were so many, the place was packed. All the soccer moms seemed to just be grabbing Guitar Hero III bundles.

I went back to the same TRU to pick up Soul Bubbles and there was a guy looking for Rock band 2. The lady goes in the back and pulls one out. I ask if she has another one and she comes out with another one for me.
The guy said he was worried it will not ring up at 109.99, but I advised others said it rings up correctly. He asked where I heard about it and I said CAG and he said he heard about it on SD. (We both new we were deal hunters). I told him I am on SD too. He then asked if they had anymore and the store employee said no. Went to TRU in Mission Viejo this morning at 6am, got ONE for 360 at the sale price with the GC, AND I used a 20% off one item coupon I received in the mail to save another $22. There were TONS left. Didn't think to buy a second $40 game to get the $15 GC for 2 games, would be a nice combo deal. Also didn't try to immediately buy a second copy using the $25 GC, but I should have as I think they would have done it. Better deal than the $133 I paid last week using live.com 30% cash back via ebay (shipped via amazon). Now I have to put one of them up on CL to make this deal even better.

Figured I'd would try back later to use the $25 GC, missed lunchtime, but went after work at 6pm and they were completely sold out of all 3 versions. They have infinite amount of Guitar Hero in any version, bundle or configuration, stacked floor to ceiling, but hardly anything left for the RB fans except drum kits for full price.

Went to the BestBuy next door and they had a stack of them near the front register, so shouldn't bea problem to PM for $110, but good luck getting the GC, I didn't do it because I am hoping TRU gets more stock before this sale ends... I went to the Naperville, IL TRU at 11:45am this morning and they were sold out of both PS3 and 360 Rock Band 2 bundles. I left empty handed, but grabbed an ad on the way out the door.

Heading home, I stopped off at my local Walmart and easily picked up a copy for the 360 with price match. I took the paper TRU ad in and brought it with me to the check out counter in the electronics department. The clerk couldn't believe the deal and called in the assistant manager to do the over ride. They were in shock at the price but gave me the $109 price without calling TRU to check on stock, etc. Easy....no gift card for me, just matched the price.

They also said that every employee would likely take advantage of the ad tonight.. Glad I was the first one to bring it it before they sold all of the inventory to themselves tonight.

This is what I think you should do if your local TRU didn't have the advertised RB2:SE and your local bestbuy would not PM the TRU price.
1) Go to local Bestbuy and purchase RB2:SE anyway for $189.99.
2) Go to local TRU and grab this week's weekly ad flyer that has RB2:SE on.
3) Wait a day or two.
4) Take the bestbuy receipt and TRU flyer to bestbuy customer service.
5) They will certainly refund you the difference and 10% of that difference.
(so in this case, the difference = $80, 10% of $80 = $8, total refund of $88.)

Every single TRU in the Northern VA area (Sterling, Bailey's Crossroads, Leesburg, Kingstowne, Fair Lakes, Manassas, Woodbridge) is out of the 360 version. I did pick up a PS3 version that I may be able to swap this week if they come back in stock. I also PMd a 360 version at Walmart for $109 (no gift card). Interestingly enough, at Walmart it already rang up at $109, so someone else must have tried the PM earlier.

THANK GOD! I thought I saw a small sign for the Wii version as well this morning at my local TrU when I went in to pick up on this deal (and to finally get a Wii). My experience with Price matching. It all depends who you speak with at Best Buy. I've never personally had an issue with a competitor add (except for Black Friday, but I later read online that they don't do it). Wal-Mart was always the most liberal price matcher. I just prefer to shop elsewhere before going inside a WalMart. Also never had issues price matching at Sears or Circuit City. Haven't tried with Target. Guess it depends on CS rep that you get. Don't take no for an answer if you know you are being courteous and you know the store's policy. I don't think it's right for Best Buy to not honor something because the price is too low for them.

You could say: 'Well this is the last time I will shop at your store, and I will tell all my friends and family to do the same.' or 'say you'll report them to the local better business bureau'. Saying that has worked for me as a last resort.

I ordered a XBox 360 version online and picked it up at Sears (Torrence CA). Then I walked to the Electronics department and had it price matched. The full delta plus 10% ($88).

This is what I think you should do if your local TRU didn't have the advertised RB2:SE and your local bestbuy would not PM the TRU price.
1) Go to local Bestbuy and purchase RB2:SE anyway for $189.99.
2) Go to local TRU and grab this week's weekly ad flyer that has RB2:SE on.
3) Wait a day or two.
4) Take the bestbuy receipt and TRU flyer to bestbuy customer service.
5) They will certainly refund you the difference and 10% of that difference.
(so in this case, the difference = $80, 10% of $80 = $8, total refund of $88.)

Just got back from BB. They didn't price match it because they said that ToysRus is getting a Rebate from Harmonix so they can sell it at the super low price. I smell bs but I didn't want to argue. At least the guy didn't act like an ass towards me. I think I'll stop by again at another time to see if they'll do it. If not, I'll just buy it and return it for a price match.

Just wanted to say thanks to the OP for this. Picked it up at my local TRU today around 2:00pm and got the gift card with no problems, they had quite a few tickets/tags left at the Valencia, CA location for the 360 version when I left.

On a side note, it's the first 360 game I got my wife to play with me, and surprisingly for being a pianist and singer she prefers playing the drums. Go figure.

If Glendale isn't too far for you, the At Water Village store had the 360 version in stock. You might wanna give them a call and double check if you're planning to make the trip.

Mission Viejo, CA. I got mine at TRU as advertised + used a 20% off coupon for an extra $22 savings. They were well stocked at 6am and out by 5pm. There is a BB RIGHT next door, I didn't try the PM there but I got them to give me 25% off an Xbox 360 and COD4 last year on Xmas Eve (very YMMV deal), so I know they aren't totally in denial there.

Also try Wal Mart and Sears, their customer service is WAY better than Best Buy.

Best Buy is mostly at the discretion of the Manager, you can always try a different manager at a different time, there are several per store.
Sears and BB have been reported to sometimes match GC offers which nets you the same price as TRU, but as always YMMV
Circuit City is going out of Business, so YMMV there too

Best way to do Best Buy is pay full price and take it to your car, then go to Customer Service and show them the ad and the receipt, you should get about $88 back, $110 if they credit the $25 GC too.

Target, at least in CA, stopped price matching years ago. Gamestop doesn't PM either

I wish it lasted just a bit longer, I might have used it on SFIV. Is there a way to say buy another game, not open it and exchange it for SFIV when it comes out.

A quick look at their return policy says that if unopened its 30days or would the expiration date of 1/31/09 have an effect on my refund, i.e. I just get refunded the difference (say 60-25=35) and lose the gift card when I return it.

Went to TRU around 6pm last night and they were all out of the RockBand 2 SE. Tried to price match at Circuit Shitty and even brought the printed ad with me from TRU. The girl called a manager and said they would only price match if TRU had it in stock. *rolleyes* So i walked out and drove to BestBuy.

Got to BB and I asked customer service about the price matching, they said "yup" just bring it to the counter and you are all set. :) They actually had to get a manager to override the price match and the 2 guys at the counter were actually talking about the fact they had to call TRU earlier to do the price match and see if they had it in stock. LOL.. Luckily they didn't and just gave me the price match. I asked about the $25 giftcard and see if the would knock the price down even more, but no go on that, but oh well. Still a great deal.

Actually... BB had the RockBand 2 SE on sale for $139.99 last night, so even without the price match, their price was not bad. This was in Sterling Heights, MI area.

Found out about this on Slickdeals late last night - called the TRU on 440 in Jersey City at about 11:00 at night and they said they had a bunch. I got there at about 11:30 and there was 1 360 left and a pile of PS3s left. I would rather the PS3 version but I have a guitar for the 360 so I got that version. Yes, you can. All songs released before RB2 are still compatible.

Managed to snag one for the PS3 yesterday at Best Buy in WA. I didn't have the ad nor did they call, the TRU was out of stock, stil I got it for $109.99. I didn't even bother about the $25, because it would have ruined my chance of getting it lol by either checking the ad or calling the store. Very frequently (at least in Northern VA), TRU will make you pay the difference between the sale price for the 'placeholder' version, and the actual price for the version you actually wanted, if the sale has ended. Sometimes you can still win this way, but not often.

Every Walmart here has also totally banned returning anything over $3 without a receipt.

That sucks about Walmart, when did they start doing that there? I haven't tried here (Boise, ID) since Fallout 3 came out and they let me exchange it but they made me go and actually get a game and swapped it that way, they wouldn't do it with a gift card like they used to.

I don't remember the full detail, but my coupon was 20% off a single item, excluding systems and a few other stuff, and had an expiration date of 12/31/08. It was a large coupon about the size of 2 standard postcards. I used it for my first set, which went to my little brother, and it took off $22.

Fortunately I was able to get a PM @ BB. Check the regional forum for details on what I went through to get it. As far as the gift card though, I would prefer to get a gift card to use towards a future purchase but I'm happy with the deal I got. But if TRU were to get some in this week, then I would go to get one and return the one I bought or sell it to a friend who wanted it.

Best way to do Best Buy is pay full price and take it to your car, then go to Customer Service and show them the ad and the receipt, you should get about $88 back, $110 if they credit the $25 GC too.

Gotta love the eternal scalping argument. Technically, the guy is giving people a deal at $150, even if he bought it for $110. It's not like retailers pay full price for their inventory. They make profit by buying inventory in bulk at a lower price and selling at a higher price to the consumer. We don't call retailers scalpers though.

Yeah I've talked with people at the TRU in Boise, ID and they said that they are getting orders in every day this week and they are not told what it is that is coming in so best bet is to call a couple times a day as they may not have the truck unloaded completely until some times 7pm. Luckily the deal goes on all week so maybe I'll get lucky.

Anyway I imagine the TRUs are the same, getting unknown deliveries in each day best of luck to the rest of you.
