After perusing this coming week's TRU ad, there's a good possibility of a double promo glitch for this very cool DS game title.

It will be priced $9.99 on Sunday and Monday only (50% off sale). However, there's a $10 giftcard bonus with the game purchase throughout the week. Sweet deal for DS owners if both promotions stack. Highly recommended game.

The other video game deals for the week are :

Buy 2 Video games $39.99 and Up, Receive a $15 giftcard
Buy 3 Video games $39.99 and Up, Receive a $30 giftcard

Thank you, tru! (and you too, op)

Sweet deal, even if RB2 isn't there.

Great game. Bought it during the B2G1F sale, and beat it a few weeks back! I was playing LittleBigPlanet at the same time, and it almost provided a substitute for LBP while on the go.

Highly recommended for $20 or less.

Having played the demo from the Wii Channel, I can say that his is a really relaxing game with a pleasing aesthetic quality. Easily worth 19.99. Definitely a bargain at 9.99. A steal at 9.99 plus free 10$ gift card.

I have never done a giftcard deal at TRU before, does the register prompt for it automatically like Target and the cashier just grabs a gift card or do you need to bring a gift card with you to the register?

With this glitch, you could possibly get free games after the first transaction. Buy the game and gift card, pay and use the gift card to pay for the next transaction and get another gift card etc. I did that when Target had a glitch of 4 12 packs of soda for $11.00 with a free $10 gift card. I bought 4 12 packs, went out to the car, used my gift card to pay for the next 4 12 packs and only payed $1.00 for the 4 12 packs after that. It worked out to 9 cents a can after it was done.

I work at Toys R Us. If a game comes with a free gift card, the register will tell the cashier, there are gift cards located right at the cash register too. At my location, we had been sticking the free gift cards onto the green cards that aren't usable for 12 hours after activations, but I think we ran out. I have no idea what cards other locations will use, but if they use the ones we were using your plan won't work very well.

Also, for a second there I thought you were saying we were going to be running the same Buy 2 Games, Save X-amount of Dollars (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=206081) sale we did this week, and I was sad. Then I reread it, and I think I'll be okay. While, this current week's sale is fine and all, absolutely none of the customers can understand how it works. The joke's on them though, a lot of times they'll come up with a $50 game and a $20 game ($74.39 after tax), and of course it won't work, so then I'll explain why and they'll delete the $20 game and go and run really quick and find another $50 one, bringing their total to $85.02 after the promotion is applied, and they end up with a game that they just kind of grabbed while in a rush instead of the $20 one they had actually put thought into. It never occurs to them that just because they're "saving money" with a deal, they're not actually saving money.

I just got home from TRU. I can confirm that you DO get the $10 GC and the game is 9.99. The ad DOES state 1 gift card per person. At least mine does. But you can get around that by having them ring it up under separate transactions.

Went to my TRU and looked under 'S' and found nothing. Figured they sold out of the couple copies I saw last time I was there.

Then I left the game section. 2 steps away they had at least 70 copies of Soul Bubbles. Got my free game :whee:

Rave Child
12-14-2008, 11:44 AM

The game is one sale for 9.99 sunday and monday - it is in the ad - bonus deals section. Ad says nothing about having to buy more than one game to get the gift card. Does this game have a multi-player element so that buying 2 for the same household (or more) would be needed?

They shouldn't - the ad clearly has this game as 1/2 off today and tomorrow and then on the back it clearly states buy any one game in the picture and get a 10 dollar gift card - so if anyone had to buy 2 to get the deal you were ripped off.

The cashier must have gotten the deal confused with their buy 2 movies get a 10 dollar gift card deal.

I know the deal is legit, I'm just used to the cashiers being difficult when a deal is too good to be true. I remember when they marked down the promo not for resale copies of Midway Arcade Treasures 2 for PS2 and XBox down to a penny but were free with any purchase anyway, twice the cashiers didn't want to let me get the game saying it was a mistake (when it wasn't, not my fault we CAG's know more than the average worker in a store)

Yes, it was some special promo card. Definitely lame. Maybe it's because TRU plans on closing some/all of their stores in the near future.

Be careful with the fine print on this one. Some users have already mentioned that there is a 12-hour activation period on the gift card (meaning that you would have to return at a later date to use your gift card.) The fine print on the ad also says "All gift cards expires 1/31/09, except where prohibited." (The grammar error was TRU's not mine :)

Just got back from TRU. Sign said buy 2 of the following DS games, get a $10 gift card. I thought, if I'm buying Soul Bubbles for $10, I might as well get two copies and get the gift card making one of them essentially free. The ad says a $10 card with purchase of ANY of the games.

Long story short, bought two copies of Soul Bubbles and the computer register gave me a $10 gift card with each, so I walked with the games and a $20 card for $21.55 after Nevada sales tax.

p.s. All 3 TRU stores in Las Vegas were sold out of the PS3 RB2 when I got there, so I got it price matched for $110 at Wal-Mart :D

It's a TRU exclusive and some people reported 70 copies at their TRU - so if it's nearby it's worth the trip or very least call to see if it is in stock.

I went to the North Riverside, IL TRU at around 4:30 PM.

The really cute cashier rang up two copies of Soul Bubbles at $10 each, and she gave me a giftcard with $20 of credit on it.

There were about 7 copies of the game there when I left. 5 of them are stacked at the front of the DS aisle, and another 2 are where they would normally be placed in the aisle.

I hope my nephew likes the game. :)

It works, I did it today. Went in to TRU picked up six copies, they had a ton, so don't start name calling. I took it to the register and it rang up as $19.99, but then PROMO $10 came up and then followed by the music to my ears, "You also get a $60 gift card, $10 for each game" SWEET! I wanted to kiss her! Went down to another store to return something and circle back and picked up 3 more with the gift card that I had just received and got another gift card for $30! It wasn't even 15 mins. And I was able to use the gift card. Sweet! And for those who have not played the game. It is one of the best games on the DS. A true sleeper.

My store also had the buy (2) sign up, but they ring up /per game. The store at 71st and Memorial area in Tulsa had about 20-25 today. I bought five (no hoarding, nephew, myself, my best friend, sister and old roommate who cant get TRU exclusives), but I definitely saw another forumgoer (or slick dealer) because he grabbed 5 and asked for RB2 as well :)

I used the gift cards for a partial payment on a larger gift for my nephew. I better be his favorite uncle.

Well, crap, I tried to go out and while it wasn't too bad in my area, the snow was worse as I got closer to the Mall. I only made it about half way and then everyone was pulling over to put chains on. I had to turn around and go home . At least I made it back OK. Whereas everything was in the process of melting when I left it has all frozen now making for some nasty roads. I'm glad I got back when I did. They do nothing here to prep/clean the roads so it will remain nasty until it melts. I mean, people were going 10 miles an hout on the freakin' interstate and it wasn't even snowing at the time.

Since the roads will remain iced tomorrow (high will only be 25 or so) I will miss the deal. If anyone could be so kind as to pick one up for me I'll pay for shipping plus a few bucks. Of course, they are welcome to keep the gift card.

I guess I'm the only one who horded lol. I got 10, paid full price for 1, 70 cents for each additional. Flipped them all to GS for $98.00 store credit.

Although it should be noted that my TRU had well over 30 copies, so yes, I did leave plenty for the kiddies....just none for the other horders.

I don't understand, why did it only cost you 70 cents for each additional one?

Do your actual giftcards say 12 hours on them? Mine doesn't say anything about expiration. It is a blue card that says "merchandise credit" on the front. There is no expiration notice on the back of it.

Hmmm - interesting - well I got 5 just now - stocking stuffer type deal - he rang up all once and put the gift card credit on one green card for 50 bucks - says promotional card and the kicker is mine says 6 hours before valid. It might be a state to state thing - it would have been nice to have been able to buy one and use the gift cards and only pay tax - but they should have some nice sales in the next month or so and I will use it then.

The seran wrap job was god-aweful.

Nobody really touched them because it is a sleeper title tagged at 20.00 and most people won't touch an unknown for that price. I've actually played a little bit of it, but I really... actually like this game now. It's worth playing if you haven't done so yet.

I think you have a pretty cool store - while I don't think it's set in stone that they can not buy more than one copy of a game at the same time - most managers drill into their employees not to do so and also not to buy new games - mostly I think a fear of buying stolen merchandise. That and I find most stores don't want more than X amount of any used games - surprised to see one would take 10!

I wonder how much you could flip these on ebay for? Imagine buying 40= 400 - buying PS3 with GC and flipping 40 in ebay... if only I had the patience/guts to try something like that... more likely than not oversaturation and lack of awareness of game would kill deal - now if somebody would be able to purchase 1 and flip it with the gift card 40 times then it might bring in some money.

As for those buying the game only to trade it in, give the game a chance and actually play it. Soul Bubbles is actually a damn fun little game and both my nephew and I are really enjoying it. My niece keeps asking to play "the bubble game."

I didn't bother going up there early since I restocked the games Saturday night and there were plenty of Soul Bubbles. When I got into work at 3:30 today though they were all gone, probably because we had stuck a sticker on the shelf below them. We were also out of Rock Band 2's, but I wasn't interested in that one. I'm not sure I'd like Soul Bubbles, but with my employee discount I would actually get it for under $10. Maybe they had the same thought process as dcgm. Since there were 30 then if I hoard 10 copies I'm not really hoarding or I'm stopping other hoarders. Ten is way too many and to mention it here is fucking stupid.

I was able to score 2 copies, one for my niece and the other for me. I was lucky to score the last two copies. Yesterday I went to TRU and there were about 6-8 copies, but I was deterred by the "Buy 2 for $10 Gift Card". When I got back home and checked the thread I saw that you still got $10 for one copy. We all have the right to do what we want and I'm glad to see when CAG's find deals/loop holes to help the community. Picked up 2 more tonight bringing my total to 4. They had about 12 total before closing last night... Used my RB2 $25 gc and got 2 last night and a $20 gc. Tried to stop before work today but omg they were SLAMMED so I just drove on. Swung by after work and used the $20 GC from the previous 2 and the remainder of the RB2 GC and got 2 more and another $20 GC lol. So i'm out exactly $2.40 credit to get 4 DS games.

I listed one on Goozex last night and it already sold for 450 points, using 1 as a gift for sure and the other two i'm not sure yet since there is a line on Goozex now and it wont let me list another. I think someone said they get $7 at GS so that's almost a XBL points card.

And I was nice enough to leave 2 behind at TRU, I didn't wanna spend cash since i'm already gonna blow the GCs I got now. The kid who rung me up was freaking out so I made sure to let him know that 2 more remained on the shelf for him to buy.

I also asked about Rock Band for kicks even though I priced matched mine at BB with the GC included. They said that it was a mistake but TRU went ahead and honored it anyways. Any new stock they get in is not to be put out on the shelves this week. But I am sure there will be the TRU idiots who will, just like when I picked up Little Big Planet on the day it was supposed to be banned.

I was able to pick up one and grab a GC. They cashier was kind enough to ring it up twice so that I could get two $10 GC's; they each had fine print on them that they'd be available for use 6h from the purchase, and I didn't even think to ask. ><

Ah well. I know some people who could either use the GC's for a % of their full value around here, and they probably won't mind handling them for me anyway, teehee. That said, I'll probably keep one and then gift the other one away this Christmas. Huzzah!

I picked up a copy today. When I got there I noticed a guy looking through all the DS games. I just started looking for the "saran wrap" and immediately found them. He thanked me for finding the game that he was looking for. I thought he might have been a CAG, so I mentioned that he would get a $10 GC when he bought it. He showed me a sign that said I had to buy 2 games on the list to get the GC.

Well, I paid and sure enough I got my GC. As I left, I showed him the GC and he couldn't believe that they were basically giving the game away for "free". I went to the toy section and found an Iron Man MM and got in line to pay using the GC. As I was waiting, the guy passed by me clutching the GC in his hand. Yeah the gift card I got said it would be active 6 hours after purchase. When I was driving out of the TRU parking lot I called the 800 line on the back of the card and punched in the gift card info. Bigitty Bam it was valid and active as soon as the chick at the register scanned the mofo. You could literally hit one register with your initial purchase, grab some more copies and pay with the gift cards and just treat it like a revolving door. No need to drop actual cash and be reimbursed by the gift cards. I picked up 2 copies last nite, went in this morning and got 2 more, and went back later today and picked up one more pair. I left at least 3 copies on the shelf and 4 of these I am giving as gifts and two I will trade. I almost went back before midnight to see if the other copies had not been claimed but I said to hell with it thanks to the impending ice storm. Now what shall I spend my GC on.

Well... I couldn't get out there Sun or Mon due to the ice/snow, but did make it in Weds night and saw that they had several copies still left. Once again we are expecting snow tomorrow of course :bomb:.

So I guess the gift card promo runs all week - I just assumed both were Sun/Mon only but I guess that was just for the $9.99 price.

When I went to work Monday, they actually had more in stock and no one was touching them this time (this is just the first time I've gotten on CAG since then). I bought one, however my employee discount didn't take effect. The way the computer is set up, it discounts the game the $10 for the giftcard, and then adds you having bought a giftcard onto your receipt. So with sales tax being 6.3% in Kansas, I ended up paying $10.63. $10 for the card, and 63¢ for the game. If my discount had gone through, that would have been a total of $9.57 with $10 for the card, and -43¢ for the game. Since the computer can't abide a person paying a negative amount for a game, my discount was kicked out I believe. One of my co-workers encouraged me to go to the service desk and see if they'll refund me the $1 I would have saved. I'm afraid doing that might be a little too cheap ass though.
