I'm trying to remember any games that recognize holidays. Off the top of my head the original NiGHTS and Animal Crossing do. There has to be more than that...

TMNT II (maybe ! and III also, but not sure about those) on GC will give the guys Santa hats on Christmas day.

Recognize as in do something specific on that date or recognize as in the Ho Ho Ho Pack in Saint's Row?
Something specific. Figure if I have any games that do cool things on certain dates, I might as well pop em in tomorrow and see what happens.

Hm, toying with the console's date will work. I think I'll do that tomorrow, as I hadn't realized Pokemon Channel did that (just got that game yesterday from Goozex).
Brain Age recognizes some events.

Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 had some unlockable Elf and Snowman costumes when you played it on Christmas or changed the internal clock to 12/25.

If you're playing the franchise mode of NBA 2K9, it will talk about you playing on a holiday during the pre-game (just got done with the Hornets game back on Thanksgiving and I have yet to get to the Christmas Day game.) Many of the Madden games also recognized holidays, especially if you were playing as or against the Cowboys or Lions as they always play on Thanksgiving.
The Incredible Machine.
It had extra themed parts for holidays, like pumpkins for Halloween and Christmas trees for Christmas.

its not a holiday... unless you think it is... but on Final Fantasy Tactics on PS1, you entered your birthday when you first started the game.... then when the date was your bday it would do happy birthday music in the game on your birthday
