Saw this earlier this week on SD or FW (sorry, lol, I forget...)
If you can find Duracell's with a white top (very distinct) and Made In Japan...these are reported to be eneloops.
I bought a "kit" at Costco of eneloops last year (precharged, rechargeable) ... they are great ... it takes so long for a recharge... you will forget they are/were rechargeables! I regret not buying a second kit as Costco no longer carries them at my local stores.
So, after seeing this post on the "evil" site LOL ... I checked for the "white tops" at my older local Walgreens.
Found two packs of four AA for $8.99 and had a $2 coupon... I'm happy with $6.99 for 4/AAs (it's a bit of a risk that they are eneloops, but eneloops are that good).
In the SD/FW thread they reported these packages had a $2 coupon attached (expired in Sept/'08 but still scans fine). The packages I found had no coupon, but I had one from the paper (some time ago).
Yesterday it was reported the $8.99 price dropped to $7.xx (after my purchase date and Not including $2 coupon). So, it may be worth checking out for all the holiday batteries that will soon be needed!
I found these at the first store I checked. Newer packages were marked $15.99 on sale! for a 4 pack!
The White tops are very easy to spot and then check the back for Made in Japan (Not China)...
