Hm... jump on Sonic Chronicles or stay with my promise to stop buying games that are almost definitely crappy for $20 just because I think "oh hey, maybe this time they made a good Sonic game"

Sonic Chronicles got good reviews, but I'm not sure why.
I picked it up being a Bioware fanboy, but was very disappointed. The combat is stale and random battles take too long. All the special attacks require you to do a short "elite beat agents" type of routine, and it gets old very very quickly.
Maybe my 4 hours were not enough to reach the fun parts, but I'd pass.

The key is to remind yourself, instead of buying a shitty game for 20, you could save another 20 and buy a good game! Sonic was pretty disappointing for Bioware standards.

Sonic Chronicles started out fun but got old real quick. Save 20$ for a better RPG in February, like the new DQ or Ys from Atlus.

I just got cod2 for 10$ from rogers recently and played through it the past week. I was very impressed for it being a release game, I liked it better than cod3 and 4. I would pay 20$ for it.
