Yay!
Thanx Cheapy, Wombat and Shipwreck!
That little RSS bump I get saying a new CAGcast is live is priceless.
I hope the 1up layoffs are still in the news to be discussed in next week's show.
1up was my primary 'gaming portal' and the loss of all their podcasts is like 5-6 hours of weekly entertainment gone for me. So that made me sad :(
But a new CAGcast makes me happy!
--Edit: RebelFM? Nick, Phillip and Anthony? SUPER AWESOME. Nick, if you read this, good luck. I loved what you were doing with 1upFM. If you maintain some sort of a public persona I'll watch what you're up to.--

Thanks for another good podcast guys, great way to start the new year. Cheapy seemed really out of it though, sounded like he wanted to get it over ASAP and didn't really care about the content. The first time he really got animated was when the favorite websites of the year were mentioned.
Speaking of your favorite website Cheapy, I recommend www.cheggit.net.

This CAGcast had to be the funniest yet. From Wombat's Cock N Balls, Cheapy's pornhub reference, and Porn Name or DS game. Although it started off depressing with RockSolidAudio getting laid off as well as Wombat not getting paid by UGO anymore, it came back with some of the funniest stuff I have ever heard. Great show guys.
PS. Shipwreck being on the Cagcast permenantly would be amazing.

Downloaded, listen to it tomorrow (it's bedtime for me) - and holy crap. I always had the idea of sending in a message of "Hey Cheapy, what the heck did you look like with hair?" after you retold your story a few weeks ago.
And dammit, while downloading I looked at the show photos and saw some pics, I was like "Who's that? Pizza guy proving he's alive with a box of cereal?" - *Next pic* - "What?" - *Goes back to first pic* - "Ummm, no, that can't be Pizza guy..." - *seconds pass* - "Oh... OH! OH man! He looked weird back then, damn!"
Nice pictures there Cheapy.

Wombat: the fact that you think Terrorist Hunt was something new and thus an inspiration for Horde mode, much less Left 4 Dead shows that you are out of touch with what's available on PC. It's not a new concept whatsoever.

Wombat you really hit the nail on the head with the Geo Wars 2 scoreboard. All games should have that feature for bragging right.
Geo Wars 2 is probably my non-retail pick of the year just over Megaman 9.

Great podcast, and a nice gesture by Cheapy to pimp the talents of Nick. Swerv, why did that upset you? Nick was a member of this community before going to 1UP, so why shouldn't we the community want to see him find new work?
Wombat, way to make the connection between Terrorist Hunt and Horde mode, Left 4 Dead. Oh, and great pictures!

I like the Shipwreck inclusion into the Cagcast in recent weeks. He adds an air of respectability and I get the feeling he's like the fact checking robot producer during the entire show.
I'm not a believer in the "Cheapy is a 360 whore" theory, because the 360 is obviously the best choice for the majority of the gaming community right now. It has the biggest and best game library so it only makes sense that the majority of news is skewed toward the 360. Never was this more evident than during the "gamer picks" of the year segment of the show. However, I think that you guys are committing a disservice to Wii owners and perhaps alienating an entire segment of potential listeners by virtually ignoring the Wii on a weekly, and now yearly basis.
You should make more of an effort to play Wii games and become a resource for some of your audience that has gaming aged children. We buy Wi games and might be inclined to buy more were they to have your endorsement and associated linkage. Ignoring games because you don't like them or because of the perceived irrelevance of the Wii may be a good reason for 25 year old joe gamer, but not for someone who makes his living off of the videogame market. Shipwreck doesn't even have kids yet and he's played 10 times the number of Wii games that you and Wombat have combined. Remember that your kids aren't going to be playing Gears of War as soon as they're old enough to hold a controller, and they'll be grown up enough for videogames sooner than you realize.

Kids don't tend to be playing video games till they're like 5 or so. So in Cheapy and Wombat's case, their kids won't be playing the Wii cause it'll be 2012/3 by then.
Also, I'm sorry, but a lot of us have fallen off the Wii train by now. We played the crap out of all the wonderful first-party games... but still have fallen off. Personally, I own all the good games. But I never finished SMGalaxy. I didn't give a care about SSB: Brawl (was never introduced to the series). Except for playing Wii sports at my Aunt's house on Christmas, I haven't played or turned on my Wii in around 4 months.
I'm also amazed and repulsed to how Wii is changing video games. How to the long time gamers (you know, hardcore but not no-scoping headshots in Counter Strike) have all been shocked at how the masses of non-gamers (actual non-gamers, like my Aunt, not you) are so ignorant and uninformed of what games really can be.
Like, for instance, in that time I was at my Aunt's house, my Uncle - being the real life golfer that he was, played some Wii Sports golf with another relative. They're both late 30's, early 40's, and they got to a new course in the golf game. If you've ever played the game for a good time it was the level on the cliff. I could hear them audibly going "wow, that looks great" at the course design. I have to agree that conceptually the cliff was nice, but I've seen more amazing things. Then and there I wanted to show them watch "Amazing" scenerly really was. I wanted to sit them down, the uninformed that they are, and show them Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Assassin's Creed, Dead Rising, Prince of Persia, Flower, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, MGS4, Gears of War 2... they were being impressed by a simple cliff level. They had no idea.
I'm glad what Wii is doing for the world, introducing them to games and all. But I hate it for what it's doing to these people. They just don't get it. So a combination of bitter feelings and the fact that I have nothing to play on my Wii leads to my feelings...
Okay okay, this isn't the place to be talking about this, so I'll just leave it at that. In final, Wombat and Cheapy shouldn't have to make attempts to play the Wii. What would be the point of that? If the Wii was as great as some seem to say it is, then they wouldn't need to be forced to play it.
The first 2 pictures are pictures of wombat.

Having previously been a member of 1up and leaving due to the horrible assholes that were part of their forum and the idiots that were a part of that site I was not upset that they shut down and fired most of the staff. However if UGO is planning to integrate 1up into UGO it will just ruin UGO too. Guess I am down 1 blog site, because getting rid of Wombat and adding anything from 1up can only result in total failure.

This is going to make me sound like a Wii fanatic, when in reality I barely used the Wii throughout most of 2008.
However, for Christmas I received "No More Heroes" and was completely blown away by it. It is a "real" video game that uses the Wii functionality to its benefit. I fully believe that this is a game that makes it worth turning on your Wii for.
If Wombat, Shipwreck, or CheapyD want to see that the Wii can provide unique, fun, videogame expiriences, I'm more than willing to ship my copy out to you.

I think this was the episode where Wombat secretly took the sex tonic.. what an attitude. So quick to hand out douche of the year awards.
Loved the show and shipwreck on it. Hope it becomes a habit. I also loved cheapy cursing wombat out under his breath for dismissing Saints Row 2 so quickly. Wombat, the game is great and it’s your loss for not playing it. Cheapy had a turn around with FarCry 2 after spending more time with it, and I think you’ll mirror that with Saints Row. That being said, I really don't care if you play it or not.

My comment was mainly referring to my question about the whole 'what looks like you' thing. I feel that if given the chance to answer said question, Cheapy would've made it a confrontation about how Miis were squandered and how Home is worthless. That's what my comment was based off of, Cheapy.
But in any case, it was a good show despite the depressing news about 1up in the beginning. And Cheapy, you still need to beat Super Mario Galaxy, because it remains awesome. Oh, and so is No More Heroes. It's almost as awesome, but five times as ridiculous.
Also, I don't know how many games Ship beat, but I might have beat him. I might actually have beaten the most on CAG, but that's just a guess.
yea Shippy and Wombat, RS: V2 was great and we had some good times online with some other CAGs. and it was the first time i played online with Cheapy too so that was special. ^_^

Excellent! I was so glad to hear Shipwreck's mention of Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection for Wii. This wins, hands down, my "Favorite Wii Game of 2008".
It is interesting that this game has had a "long tail" that is expanding into a late hit. According to vgchartz, it appears that sales have steadily been going up each week since release. As we're in the 43rd or so week, it has over 20,000 sales a week and may still be growing. I'm afraid those numbers are going to begin to fade as I can no longer find it in stock anywhere (online or brick & mortar).
Hopefully they do another printing and release a sequel with more tables!

Count me in the alienated crowd. I'm a PS3 and Wii owner. I used to own a 360 but it got the red rings and Microsoft's customer service was horrible so when I eventually got my refurbished 360 I sold it. I'm sorry but I speak with my wallet, if a company mistreats me then I don't buy their products anymore.
Anyways, I know Cheapy doesn't think he is biased but trust me, from someone who listens to like 14 different gaming podcasts on and off, the show is definitely biased towards the 360. 360 demo's and Xbox live arcade games are often-times discussed in detail while similar things on the PS3 and Wii are glossed over as if they didn't exist. Cheapy's criticisms and complaints on the PS3 and Wii are also much more dramatic then when encounters very similar things that are 360-related.
I understand that Cheapy is a 360 fan but if he's going to do a multi-platform gaming podcast he really should broaden his gaming. I mean you heard the podcast, he didn't complete any PS3 or Wii games the entire year! He couldn't even give a Wii game of the year nomination because he only played 2 games the entire year on it and then admits that it hasn't been plugged in for months. That's ok for a regular gamer but not for someone who is trying to be a icon in the world of gaming.
Cheapy, here's something you might want to try. Dedicate an entire month next year to the Wii. In that month, only allow yourself to play Wii and Wii-ware games. Try and find stuff you like, get your wife to play with you. Enjoy your damn Wii! Then do the same thing with the PS3 for one month. Finish Metal Gear Solid 4! Play some of those excellent PSN games.
If you did that, I think you would appreciate your other systems more and would be more open to trying out some of the games for those systems in the coming months.

I've gotta say that most of my favorite shows so far are the ones with shipwreck on it, I just enjoy the way the show moves along with a third person, it gives the show a fresh feel and it sounded like Cheapy liked not having to keep the entire show moving along on his own. Also, Wombats the shit.

Nice end of 2008 wrap-up. Cool to devote the whole show to the awards.
I'm not going to judge your choices being that they're what you had the most fun with, but I really wish I could have had as much fun with Fable 2 as you guys did. I simply can not get passed the constant bugs, freezings, errors and any other technical difficulties. This is really a shame being that I really was seeming to love the game. It's not my system or my disc as I have tried multiple copies of the game and many other people have the same problems.
In terms of fun, Saint's Row 2 is definitely up there with my most enjoyable games of the year. It's no technical achievement by any standard but the game is just ridiculous fun. I had the same difficulties playing like Wombat did, but the fun of the game really got me to keep playing.
And that was actually a really cool cover/remix of "You Got It" in the show opening. Did you pick up any of the Roy Orbison DLC for Rock Band?
Artie Lange

Great show, Cheapy had me laughing multiple times there. Also, I totally agree with him about GTA 4 being disappointing, and Saint's Row 2 being excellent.

I have to say that I agree with you Cheapy regarding GTA IV; Its like they turned GTA IV into Shemue, with having to keep in contact with friends and being forced to do things with them. Niko even has Ryu's brown jacket. Saints row seems to be more GTA like than GTA. (I'll be picking up Saints Row after I finish GTA)
Good show guys. I really enjoyed how you guys handled the show, instead of acting like fanboys you simply picked the games that YOU enjoyed. Which is good because now no one can complain about your pics, there's no pressure to pick a certain game to avoid backlash from CAGcast listeners. I enjoyed the new Game of the Year format; I felt like you guys were being Honest about what YOU liked.
The only thing that disappointed me about Cheapy and Ship is that you guys really aren't playing your PS3 enough. You guys missed out on the gems of the console.
[I know its hard to play games on two different consoles..heck, the only 360 game I bought and played this year was Castle Crashers... so I know I got a lot of catching up to do. (oh yeah and I played 13 dollar- The Club on 360). Which is why its still in working order.]
Wombat that was Classic - DS Game, or Porno! I Freakin LOVED IT!!!!!!
I have to admit that this show is a great way to Start of the 2009 Cagcast season! Good Job, Cheapy, Ship and Wombat!
- I'm definitely sad about EGM closing its doors, been reading the magazine almost since day one. It was the only one I was reading. All good things must come to an end.

I don't think it would be a good idea to make CAGplay Forecast its own separate podcast, instead just have the episode appear on both the CAGcast feed and Foreplay feed.
Wombat's game of "DS or Porno title" is the most hilarious thing I've heard in a while.

Great show. Nice to have Shipwreck on the cast. He does add some class and respectability. The Foreplay cast is great too though.
The porn website thing was the best. This is classic crazy Cheapy and what brings me back to the CagCast week after week. The dick in a 360 deal was also great. Another example of unique Cagcast humor.
Keep up the great work and look forward to another year of Cagcast. I'll be listening for the second time tomorrow at work. The masses thank you for your efforts.

I got the animation bug where your character gets stuck and doesn't walk - luckily, it spontaneously resolved itself. Had that been a permanent thing, I wouldn't have played another second of the game. I understand what you're getting at!
The only thing that disappointed me about Cheapy and Ship is that you guys really aren't playing your PS3 enough. You guys missed out on the gems of the console. The month that PJM came out, the PS3 practically overheated from use. :D

Great Show! I would love to hear Shipwreck join Cheapy and Wombat every week. I also really like the concept of sharing your picks of the games you enjoyed most in 08, because in the end, its not about frame rates, or game length or story lines, its about how much fun you get out of it.

I do not list to 14 gaming podcasts; I merely listen to a few. But on all my gaming podcasts, there are two major things I have noticed: the Xbox 360 gets the majority of the coverage, and no one is playing their Wiis. I do not think CheapyD is an anomoly in that he didn't finish a Wii or a PS3 game; I am sure there are other CAGs who are in similar situations.
I have heard this argument before, that it is CheapyD and the CAGCast's job to cover all games equally. I do not agree. I think the job of the CAGCast is to be entertaining. I would much rather have CheapyD talk to me about the games he enjoyed and why, rather than things he is struggling to get through just to make listeners happy. He is better to listen to when he's happy about gaming.
There is only one area that CAG needs to be fair to all systems, and that is deals. If the deal section suddenly became only Xbox 360 games, then I would start worrying. But as long as he covers everything there, I'm good.

The beta for the new games collection system just sounds odd for just forums.
None of you played Mirror's Edge? I thought Wombat said on the CAGplay Forecast that he was playing it.
I hope you guys played the second episode of Penny Arcade Adventures since it's even better and offers more difficulties if you want that sort of thing. It's $15 and the second episode offers much more replay value. Plus, it's another easy 200 points.
I don't think Mario Kart Wii would win any awards because the series hasn't really improved at all since Super Mario Kart, as I've never been interested or enthralled by any Mario Kart games since SMK.
I never really paid much attention to what World of Goo was supposed to be like, but it sounds a lot like Elefunk on PSN, which is about building bridges for elephants to cross to the goal.
I know you guys think this is the worst game in the world, but LBP also shows you the high score of the friend right above you on your friendlist leaderboard.
Didn't you hype up GTAIV a ton before launch, Cheapy? I'd be interested in hearing about why you put the blame all on everybody else and not any on yourself. I remember you bringing a certain someone on the Live CAGcast before its launch to talk about his "special" version of the game and talk about how life-changing GTAIV was.
Good show, though it sounded like Cheapy wanted to go back to sleep as soon as Wombat and Shipwreck would just shut up.

Did you miss it being listed in the OP under the spoilered show notes?
I really enjoyed this week's show. After the disappointing news about 1up, this was a great pick me up. To all the people complaining about bias, Cheapy and Co. are not professional games journalists. They play what they want and they try to deliver podcast content to the CAG users. If you are looking for an all-encompassing podcast you are in the wrong place. Even as comprehensive as Shipwreck is, even he misses things. Ease up CAG community.

Why buy the Wombat when UGO can milk his jewy nipples for free?
its sad whats going on with the UGO 1up fallout. It was pretty obvious that Ziff was sinking when there was a mass exodus of staffers last year, I even addressed job security on a 1up blog last year and Rocksolidaudio responded with "do you think we'd be hiring if we were shutting down". I hate to say I told you so but I told you so. Best of Luck to the 1up crew. There goes CAGcast's major competition, and its just the beginning of the corporate fat trimming coming this year. Its just more proof that Cheapy has the best job in the industry.

Nice show guys. 8-)
I liked Cheapy's pick of Saints Row 2 as his GOTY because it's based entirely on what game he had the most fun with, not what game looked the best or had the most-engaging story. Videogames are about having fun, so a GOTY should be the one that you had the most fun with.
I know after playing games like GTA IV and Gears 2, and then playing SR2, my first thought was, "Wow, this game is UGLY!". But after I got past that, I enjoyed it quite a bit, almost more than GTA. It's definitely one of my favorite games of the year as well.

It’s not that entertaining to hear about the same games for the same systems week in and week out. Given the amount of positive feedback Shipwreck is getting, it seems pretty clear that the limited gaming palette of the hosts is getting boring. Cheapy himself buys all sorts of shit just to “talk about on the show”, so it seems to the he recognizes that due diligence should be a part of the show (even if he doesn’t always practice it).
That said, everything outside the game talk is great.

Great show guys. To me personally I loved that shipwreck was in this week's CAGcast. Ship just seems so knowledgeable about games because of the CAG Foreplay podcast, it really adds an extra touch to it. Although I am still a big fan of the CAGplay Forcast, personally I don't find it as humerous as the CAGCast which drops it down a notch for me.
I really liked how you did it system by system and all of you didn't go for games like Fallout 3, or Left 4 Dead, or GTA IV. It doesn't matter if I liked the big releases or not, hearing games like Professor Layton or Saint's Row 2 really gave you guys a lot of credibility in my book. A lot more credibility than most other gaming sites, where each goty list has the same rehashed list. I can really relate to you guys, and that makes you my favorite Video Game podcast (besides CAGForplay, both are excellent). This episode only backed up my feelings why you are my favorite(s) podcasts for video games.

This weeks podcast was a very refreshing look at the best games of the year through the eyes of Cheapy, Wombat, and the Shipwrecks.
I listen to several other podcast and most of the discussion was GTA 4, MGS 4, and Fallout 3 but this was not so on the Cagcast. Some very interesting game choices were made, making for a very interesting and enjoyable "game of the year" show. With this absolutely ingenious format, you guys easily had the best 2008 wrap up show out there. Keep up the fantastic work.

Wombat, it was kinda cold how a couple of shows ago, you plug a game (DC vs Mortal Kombat), talked all good about it, and now you totally throw it on the trash pile. lol Couldn't you have picked another game. I figure you'd be more criitcal of the game because it has chracters you love, as I would be more critical of a game that was about Voltron or Robotech.

Cheapy,
Just to reinforce your point (albeit it about Saints Row 2), I initially thought Saints Row was a bargain bin budget title. It never really interested me. But many CAGcasts ago, you spoke so highly it of it, I figured I'd give it a try. And to my surprise I ended up loving it. It's now one of my favorite 360 games and I liked it more than GTA4.
In an unrelated point, I enjoy Shipwreck on his own show with Mrs. Shipwreck (who sounds like she desperately wants out of the podcast business) but I don't particularly enjoy the chemistry on the CAGcast with a third person. Nothing against Shipwreck personallly, but the show just doesn't seem to flow as well.

Thank you Cheapy, Wombat & Shipwreck for not using the :bs: phrase of "Best of" games for your '08 picks! Just as Wombat was anal several episodes ago about the usage of "mediocre" and "average," I am anal about every other pick list from '08 being called a BEST OF list.
For example, Cheapy's pick for his favorite game was Saint's Row 2. How many other "best of" lists would that be on? These are PERSONAL PICKS from individual editors and etc., and thank you guys for calling them as such!
Rant aside, fantastic wrap-up show! The DS or Porn Title game was hilarious, much fun to play along with. And does anyone think the phrase "Bukkake-san" has EVER been used before?
If not there should be a record of it somewhere...

Dang, was looking forward to you guys reading the comments for the last cagcast... how convenient.
ANYWAYS, Shipwreck gained major respect points for this weeks CAGCast. I love how organized he was and that he listed every game you guys played this year (i've always wanted to do that for myself, but it seems like to much work) so it's nice hearing GOTY's that didn't come out last week (all I have been hearing from other Podcasts is "Left 4 Dead"! Great game... but 08 was a year long).
Really well done Shipwreck! You've almost fully recovered from your "I Hate Shipwreck" points (cause of the LBP hate...) I may just start listening to the CAG Foreplay!
And Wombat, way to go man! Totally surprised on your GOTY. That's awesome, I really thought you hated on that game while you were playing it... and at Cheapy's GOTY... come on man...

Who would reveiw Stripperz, then?
I can't remember if that's a DS game or a porno.
Actually, Mrs. Ship is right. As much as she hates previewing suck games, I don't really care to listen to to reviews of games I'll never buy. It was kind of entertaining at first with her having to deal with Ponyz, Horsez, Gravediggerz, etc. but I'd listen more to it if it were a shorter show just hitting games that people were likely to buy, DLC stuff, and those sleeper games that are really good but people don't hear about them because they don't have the advertising backing them up. Or even those odd games that may not be on the radar for most folks but the Ships play them and enjoy them.

I personally do not see how Cheapy could badmouth the story in GTA IV when the Story in SR2 isn't any better. The Characters and story are not compelling? What? What the fuck is Sr2? The story of a possiblle British, Black or hispanic male/female who constantly gets referred to as having gotten a haircut trying to get revenge, money, power and respect? Sounds like GTA IV to me. I Have saints Row 2 thanks to Goozex and am glad I did not pay a penny for it. I have no idea how SR2 is more fun with those hideous controls and horrid buggy gameplay. I agree with Wombat (check it! I'm giving you attention bro wooo :P) regarding the freezing (both on ps3 and the copy i rented for the 360). To me SR2 is the most dissapionting game of the year (other than everything for the wii) because of its shitty controls and I do not see how a game with shit controls is more fun than a game with less shitty controls.
I guess the comparison is objective and you're either going to love one or the other but I think there was worse games that were more dissapointing than GTA IV. However you were dead on with Too Human.. as well as some of your other pics. I just think that none of your reasons for choosing GTA IV as the most dissapointing game.
On the other hand I personally think that "Top pics" threads, articles or podcasts are essentially a bad idea. Not that I don't appreciate the time and effort it took for everyone to compile them. However, much like religion it causes more bad than good. Because it's always going to piss someone else off while another will be delighted by it, causing these two forces to collide. I noticed that on Joystiq's (or for that matter the whole Joystiq network's sites ie the fanboy) sites in the comments threads which at times become a total battle ground between fanboys. In my case, I know what games I liked last year as they are sitting on my shelf and on my consoles' respective hard drives. The rest went out the door with Goozex.
On the other hand Imma go jump on the hypcrite train (where everyone else is) and make my own picks of 2008 in the same style as shipwreck posted them. Thanks for a great show guys and I TOTALLY love the Cheapy, shipwreck and Wombat combo.... also the high elvel of F bombs was awesome... it actually felt like I was listening to a podcast with New Yoaark'ers on it. Lol. Keep up the great work and please throw in Mrs. Shipwreck in there one time that would we AWESOME!... like a once a month thing or once every 3 months.

I listened to some of the show again last night, I loved the bit when Cheapy was laughing while Ship was reading out his game completed list.

With Episode 145 (and with pretty much every episode), we are once again reminded of CheapyD's apparent boner for the XBox 360.
Give it a rest, fanboys. If CheapyD really has such a stiffy for the 360, I'm sure he'd have given mention to the growing number of "CAG Function" 360 threads on the forums.
But guess what? I've yet to hear a shout out to the CAG Grifball Teams. With Cheap Ass Gamer going into its 3rd season, ranked 18th overall in the league (out of 483 teams), currently 6-0 in its division this season. Or how about the newly formed Cheap Ass Giraffes, holding a respectable 3-1 record in their division.
There's yet to be a mention of the CAG 360 Game Lending Circle, a program amongst CAG forum members to lend and borrow 360 games from other CAGs, potentially saving them $50-60 per game! Times are tough, spare cash is hard to come by, and not everyone can trade away enough games for a new copy of Fallout 3, or even find someone willing to do so. Despite this, the GLC helps fellow CAGs partner up and play games they otherwise would not have access to. The generosity of the forums at its finest (second only to the CAG Child's Play effort and the Games for Soldiers drive).
Or how about SynGamer's thread about 360 Game Install Sizes/Performances Listing. His thread on the effectiveness on installing a 360 game to the system hard drive has gotten notices on Kotaku and a few other blogs, in addition to being stickied on a few gaming forums, including CAG. Yet, not a single CAGCast mention.
There's a lot going on in the CAG 360 forum, events and programs created by CAGs for CAGs. From numerous gaming groups to charity and information groups, the forum is constantly busy and gaining notoriety throughout the interwebs, all of it right under CheapyD's nose. I'm sure if he was the big fanboy you claim him to be, these programs and many more would be getting plugged each week on the CAGCast.
But guess what? They've gotten none. Which ironically enough is the same amount that the PS3 and Wii gets.

Really good show guys, I liked the picks of the year. As near as I can figure out, I'm some weird conglomerate of all 4 of you (including mrs. ship, obviously), because over the categories, I was divided pretty evenly.
Sorry to hear about the UGO stuff, Wombat, but it sounds like it was all done amicably and that there may be potential in the future, and that's probably the best way it could have ended. I see a lot of people really upset by the news here on CAG, but listening to you talk about it, it doesn't sound nearly as bad as those would make it out to be.
Anyway, happy new year to the CAGCast and CAG Foreplay crews, looking forward to the 2009 shows! :)

Shipwreck and his spreadsheet. Engineers reprezent!
I like that the game picks of the year are subjective. I don't want an objective review of each game; I like to hear individual takes on them. I listen to the CAGCast because there's personality behind the discussion and reviews. If I want a (more or less) objective opinion of a game, there are any number of other sites to go to.

Thanks Cheapy Pornhub rocks lol. I have to disagree with Wombat with Saints Row. I took Cheapys advice and got it and love it. The story is funny as hell and the game is just so much fun to play. I have played about 30 hours already and cant wait to co op and beat the game again. Another great Cagcast keep it up.

I know this isn't a popular opinion but I think Ship talks in a monotone that puts me to sleep and hope he's not a CAGcast regular. He has a few good points but his delivery kills the mood that Cheapy and Wombat usually have going.

I completely disagree -- listen again -- Ship had some really very funny one liners and digs in this episode...he slipped them in there almost unnoticed. It was a fun episode -- lots of "adult" references --- were you guys trying to freak out Ship -- definately not a G rated podcast!
I don't get why the fanboys keep harping on Cheapy's love for the 360. I have all three consoles, and my 360 gets far more use than the PS3 and the Wii. The PS3 is used as a BluRay player and well, the Wii can go for months without being used. The 360 and PS3 are very close. I personally think the PS3 is a great deal because as a BluRay player, it gets terrific reviews. However, because of Xbox Live, the 360 is most likely the system of choice for the die hard gamer. That's not to say the PS3 isn't a great machine, it is and no red rings of death either, but Live and the Achievement system and now streaming Netflix gives the 360 an edge in this gamer's opinion.
Always a fun listen -- thanks guys!

Must say that I was surprised by this podcast. Only thing I have to complain about this week is that Wombat seemed to have dodged his favorite Sony story for the year with his game he made up. Also, FYI Babysitters is available in full HD 1080p via Blu-Ray Disc, that way you can see the razor burns:drool:. You should have made this a special, many things where cut out that you usually have in the Podcast. Still good though.
Good listen so far. I like shipwreck. maybe experiment with that if he wants to.
That just sounds creepy...
No, I don't want out of the podcast business. I just want less stupid games to preview. With our new format of not previewing EVERY GAME (i.e. all the crap), I think the show will be much more enjoyable for all. :D
Maybe I should have articulated that as a reason why I quit listning to CAG Foreplay as another reason. I do not see Shipwreck going for it, he seems to have a very meticulous personality or even some kind of O.C.D. that makes hime want to go into extreme detail about things no one cares about.

I agree with you that he puts me to sleep, but after thinking about it I just realized I knew what he was saying and it may be interesting to people who are unfamiliar with what he is saying. But saying that is brave and bold and you will probably get flamed for it.

Gentlemen,
You know I love you all, and appreciate your efforts, but the last CAGcast reminded me why I get my news online instead of receiving it via a television program.
After taking in all the "We Play Favorites" visual data via Ship's fantastic chart, (in about 60 seconds or so) listening to the information verbally (and redundantly) wasn't exactly thrilling. Yes, part of that is my fault for listening to the CAGcast a few days after it's release, but like many listeners I have a busy schedule. Sure, there were a few brief explanations about individual picks, but not enough to make the segment compelling to those that had already seen the chart.
With the exception of the 1up/EGM closure, the first 25 minutes of the show were rehashing the events of previous shows- like those awful sitcom episodes when they would create a new show out of moments from previous programs. I may be in the minority, but the 'meat' of the CAGcast is the game discussion. Lately, it's taken a while to get to that segment. How about a move towards a hook? Guys, mention part of a story or game, and then finish that discussion later in the show. Create some dramatic tension!
Just a bit of constructive criticism; thank you Wombat, Cheapy & Ship for your efforts!
Oh, and did anyone play de Blob? A great wii game that got overlooked. Any Katamari fan should check it out!

But, then again, what is the point of the CAGcast -- I listen because they talk about games, game deals, and lots of other stuff, which is typically very funny. This is not the videogames podcast for someone if they are looking solely for games discussion, IMHO. Ship plays a lot of games, but Wombat and Cheapy do not play everything. Why should they? They are not full-time, professional game reviewers -- they have other careers, family responsibilites, etc. If the point goal of the CAGcast is to be a fun, informative, interesting listen, I think they go 3 for 3!

I agree. Well, actually, I don't even have a 360 (anymore... ), I play Wii and PS3 exclusively. I don't really care if they review multi-platform games on the 360 or the PS3. I don't really care about the differences between the consoles too much, and so hearing someone's take on a game played on the 360 doesn't matter to me. Also, I don't feel like they are biased against PS3 exclusives. Even if they were, I don't think I would really care. I mean, it's their opinion, which is why I listen. If their opinions pissed me off that much, I just wouldn't listen.

Cheapy prefers his 360, but I don't think he's a true fanboy of the 360. He may be a little biased, but hell so would I, if I had to record a Podcast about all three systems, and I'm sure every other show I'd take some cheap shots at the 360. I like Cheapy, Wombat, and Ships opinion and enjoy the interaction that we all have with the hosts. Its not just them talking, and us listening, but rather more of a weekly conversation.

I was hesitant to post this - even I think of myself as a dickhead for having these thoughts - but I hope Shipwreck stays off the CAGcast in the future, if it can be helped.
He may be way knowledgeable about games and a nice enough guy but I think the problem is that he stifles any of the fun that happens in the podcast, especially between Wombat and Cheapy. He never laughs along, or adds his own jokes; he seems like he doesn't know how to have fun in a group dynamic. He should learn to lighten up because at best, he adds nothing, at worst, he drives down the fun of the podcast.
After listening to a few episodes of CAG Foreplay, I see it's a problem over there too. He's just not got a great sense of humour, and due to, I suspect, a heavy influence of Christianity, he can't get involved in jokes about porn sites or whatever else Cheapy and Wombat throw in for laughs as they usually do. It's a real shame.
Still, he's harmless enough and I'll still listen even if he becomes a full-time part of the CAGcast! My love for what you guys do is too great for me to walk away now.
