I have a counter-argument (sort of)
A man and woman can be friends as long as the women is butt ugly.
----------------------------------------------------------
Here is another point:
You can hang out and date a women whose hot, but over time she because less and less actractive. Can you guys be friends?
------------------------------
There are many ways of looking at this.

I think the article said something on the lines of that:
The guy does not find you attractive.

Already covered.
Many women want to argue this point and say things like " I have lots of guy friends." Maybe. There are exactly 3 cases Intellectual Whores has identified whereby a guy and a girl can be friends:
1. The guy is gay
2. The guy does not find you attractive.
3. The guy already has a woman much higher than you on the ladder

my ex introduced me to this some time ago, and from her perspective, she said its mainly true, but that a lot of women dont operate on a ladder system, but rather on sliding scales or some horseshit.

So it is saying that human are pretty much like animals when it comes to sex? Like in a chimpanze world where the alpha male can get all the females because he is big and strong (power/food). I think this ladder theory makes a lot of sense.

Scenario 3: A girl says any of the following to you:
"You're like a brother to me"
"You're like a big teddy bear"
"I feel like I can talk to you about anything"
"You're so nice"
"Can you help me with my homework"
Ladder Theory Explanation: You are on the friends ladder. So Sorry.
That's something to make a note of

i end up reading all of that and speakin for the "average typical girl", that is some funny shit. but hell it's true. anyone who wants to deny it, can go ahead and deny it externally but ha inside (deep down inside if you must) you know it's true.
Im sure if i ask a lot of others girls about this.. eventually someone going to have some kind of counter on all this, so for me.. it seems all true (though i have a slight feeling there something's wrong with it)

That site was hilarious. I have not read all of it yet. But to add to the qualifications. I have several female friends... yes some i dont not find attractive.
However another aspect is. Some of the pretty ones, I know too much about to have "relations with" and even one is totaly unavoidable..... A girl who ive known for a long time... got a std from the first guy she slept with. So she is in the friend category as well :P
Unfortuately with how truthful this may or may not be, im sure most girls will deny and get angry if they are called out on this.

The two ladders theory is basically true. Most of my colleagues are men, but I would not think of them as anything other than friends or, in most cases, acquantiances. Of course, most of them are married or engaged, so that would be enough to keep them on the "friends only" ladder. I respect the other women's territory, even if they don't really deserve the respect.

I think this site is true for SOME women but not all, but according to him 99.9% of women. I guess I got the .1% and I'll stick with her. Not all women are bitchs.
I mean, my relationship was never based on money, and looks play a minor role. So does that mean the woman is using me for the last five years and using me as a stepping stool? Or hiding the fact that she wants me for money overtime?
Plus she tells me "I can talk to you about anything."
I guess that doesn't mean we have a chance?
I'll have to agree with the part where a man/woman comes out naked out of the bathroom asking her/his friend if they want to do it. Most of the time the other person will say yes.

i was thinking something along the lines of guys and girls who are like best friends and sibling-like.. those who practically grew up with.. for some reason i dont think it applies. then you find scenarios where they grew up and find the other attractive and they turn out to be the best mate ever. maybe cause they know you and all your flaws.. etc (just thinking of all the possibilities)..
that thing about "i can talk to you about anything.." or "can you help me on my hw" sounds like something they could say to either a girl or guy. so it some neutral comment.
and im sure not all girls are just gold diggers. you got your independant females who are smart enough to make their own money.. (i know they're out there someplace)
and i thought the two ladder thing was for girls only and the guys had only one ladder?

Two things to keep in mind. First, power and wealth are measured in more ways than money. Bill Clinton didn't become wealthy until just a few years ago when he was getting huge sums for speaking engagements and multi-million $ book advances. But he never lacked for female company when the Dragon Lady wasn't around. Projecting a strong Alpha male presence derives from more than money. Which is why the outlaw biker scores, too.
Second, there are women who function like men in this system. Wealthy and/or powerful women often seek mate who are willing to be subordinate to them or who are at least their equals, thus fake power couples like Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
While consensual incest exists there is evidence for a built-in mechanism that keeps us from being attracted to our siblings. This also applies to people raised so close together they view each other as siblings. The girl next door may be gorgeous but if you been close to her since you both small children you may find her strangely unattractive.
Sometimes this is hard for a third party observer to believe. One type of cliche movie that turns up every couple of years is the teenage boy who is obsessively pursuing a beauty from school (almost always blonde) while ignoring the sister-like close friend he grew up with who is a major babe but invisible in that respect to him. (This girl is always of a darker hair color.) Two examples are 'Secret Admirer' and the very funny 'Trojan War.' In the latter the blonde dreamgirl is the very delectable Marley Shelton but the childhood pal is Jennifer Love Hewitt. The excuse offered is that Hewitt's character has always been a tomboy sort and only recently sought a more feminine appearance in hopes of opening her intended's eyes.
In several places in the movie you want to grab the guy and smack him a bit while shouting, "Dude, it's Jennifer Love Hewitt and she wants you! Wake up!"

yes i have a fuck buddy if you can call her that, we are good friends and would never be involved in a relationship with eachother but we still fuck and fool around every now and then, it makes you feel more human i suppose, besides why should we as humans be denied our sexual rights just because we cant stand relationships

I am a female and what this site says is true. Except for the rating system for women, it doesn't really apply to me. This really struck home:

Even Nietzsche knew this. Most guys know this intuitively. Most girls doubt. I have a challenge for all of you girls who still doubt. Pick a guy who does not meet any of the criterion on the above list that you think is your friend. Then ask yourself this question: If you were both alone at his place one night, and you excused yourself to the bathroom and came out naked and asked him to have sex with you would he:
1. Tell you he doesn't want to risk the beautiful friendship you have created with messy physical entanglements.
2. Comply

Just because something is true does not suggest or deny absolute truth. That's the problem most people run into. Just because something isn't true 100% percent of the time does not automatically make it false.
Some people veiw truth in such a manner that they see it only as an absolute. Very rarely is the truth absolute.

Criticism:You're just bitter.
Answer:Maybe I am. But ladder theory made me that way, my bitterness did not make ladder theory. Attack the theory, not the person behind it. And why does everyone always say I'm bitter just because 99.999% of chicks are bitches?

A woman need not be a gold digging bitch to be in line with the ladder theory. Not everyone has the narrow focus or lack of other considerations to place wealth as her sole criterion for choosing a mate. But when presented with two otherwise equal suitors the one with greater financial assets will enjoy a significant advantage almost every time.
Given the choice, who in their right mind will opt for that 'For richer or poorer' hogwash. The proper choices are richer or merely well to do. Poorer is for losers and what woman needs that baggage?
