Holy shit! Take a look at the new weekly specials! Kurau Phantom Memory is only 15 dollars (http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/oypj04vbEHhDIKDQzu/browse/item/80529/4/153/200), and that's all of the singles with the art box! If you haven't bought Kurau yet, you better buy it now, dammit!

This is only $10. I bought it awhile back and enjoyed it a lot.
Granted, the reason I'm not buying Kurau is just to spite Raz.
Spite. Spite. ;)

Son of a bitch, the site ran out of the last volume of SDF Macross. I'm already having a tough time finding the boxset, and now I'm losing the option of getting all the DVDs.
I COULD just watch all the original episodes on Hulu, but I like the series when I first saw it, and I like to own the series someday.

You definitely should. From what I remember, I think every episode is a self contained story, and they're stories that are meant to be inspiring and such.

Now you have to buy Human Crossing (if you don't already have it).

Everything from RS is sealed/new, except sometimes things from the bargain bin may be slightly damaged (like a dented box, the actual discs are guaranteed in good condition).

You know what I don't like most of all about Right Stuf: they showed the quantity of DVDs left before they're sold out, but not for their manga. It would be nice to be informed on how many items of the same product they have left, so I don't have to be disappointed the next day when I found out that the manga volume that's been on "more arriving soon" status has been removed from the catalog.

$5 box- Wedding Peach Season Two... this shit ain't going near my dvd player. And even if I did get bored enough to open it, I'll have to somehow watch season one first.
$10 box- SoulTaker... looks semi-interesting. At least I'll watch it.

I just got Soul Taker today as a $10, too. I got 4 individual volumes wrapped as one package. I'm glad it wasn't a duplicate of something I've gotten before. Also, I recently got the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya volume 1 with character CDs from Goozex and it had the $10 bargain item sticker on it.

They don't get counters on every item that's 'running low', regardless of what it is. They can only get them on items where they know the quanity left with some certainty... and it doesn't always work (I'm sure some folks here got burned when Star Ocean EX went on sale, then TRSI had to cancel a bunch of orders for the vol 1+ boxset becuase one of the wherehouses that ships to them gave them the wrong inventory numbers.)
The worst I've dealt with was a Ranma movie DVD that went from on order, to cancelled, to available to purchase again... apparently, I placed my order right as Viz decided to slightly change the cover, and therefore the UPC- the change was so fast I don't think the DVD ever went off the site, but since they were out of the 'old version', my order got cancelled. It was annoying.
Judging from what I've read on the RACS newsletter, the manga channels are a bit more challenging to naviagte, which may be why you don't see counters for manga typically... it's a lot harder to be sure that 'we can only get this many more'.

Well, I was about to come in yell and vent about my latest Blind Buy being almost entirely duplicate, but I checked my anime shelf and it turns out it wasn't so bad-- I was mistaken in thinking I had received duplicate collections:
5.00 Blind Buy
Wedding Peach Collection 2 (Previously they sent me Collection 1, so now I have the entire collection of Wedding Peach. Hurray?)
Kiba Collection 2 (Not bad, again they previously sent me Collection 1)
Cyberteam in Akihabara collection (Could have swore they sent this to me, but nope, I was wrong. Really glad I didn't pick this up during Best Buy's 50% off sale a long while ago)
Eden's Bowy Collection (My only duplicate, I'll see if I can offload this to Goozex)
10 dollar Blind Buy
Piano complete series (Seems like it's not gonna be my type of anime, but I do love piano music, so I'm hoping there's a strong Piano theme throughout the series)
And then, of course, my actual hand picked item, the 20 dollar Morbito set. Contemplating whether or not I want to pick up a replacement case.
I have another Blind Buy order. Fingers really crossed that it goes as well as this second order went.
EDIT: Eden's Bowy has a different cover art on Goozex.com. I don't wanna list it there, so I guess I'll have to Ebay it. Alternatively, I'll sell it at cost+shipping to any who I consider to be cool from CAG.
Wow, they threw Piano at you, I thought them giving out wedding peach was bad, but at least Wedding Peach can be somewhat fun if you've imbibed enough alcohol, but (and keep in mind I LOVE almost everything by Kosuke Fujishima) PIANO is the most insanely boring anime, or honestly most boring thing you can do with your time EVER. Even watching paint dry is more productive than that anime.

I tried watching the $5 blind box of Eden's Bowy, but I just couldn't get into it. I listed this on Goozex. I PMed the buyer once the trade was accepted and they didn't mind that the cover didn't match the one Goozex has pictured so I was able to get 200 points for it.

Not really- I own all of SoulTaker, and even after having finished the series, I still wasn't really sure what the hell was going on. ;) If you're not digging the funky oddly-colored art, then you might just be better off dropping it. Kickass theme song, though. ;)

Haruhi S1 AL set arrived today (ordered over a month ago, I guess Bandia is either doing really well or really bad). It's the same size as the Lucky Star AL set, i.e. the size of a standard single dvd case. I love these small packagings, I don't remember the size of my original Haruhi set. Anyway, this copy is for sharing with friends so I wasn't in a hurry for it.

Does anyone know if Suzuka is any good? They have all 26 episodes for 11.99$ and seems like a bargain even if its not the typical anime I tend to watch, from what little reviews I've read from it most seem to be negative of it calling it a "Love Hina rip off".

I was about to say the chances were slim, but after a quick google+wiki it looks like they actually will be putting Trigun on Blu-Ray for reasons unknown. It's going to be an upscale I'm sure, so barring any errors the DVD version should look just as good on a decent Blu-Ray player.

Suzuka has no similarities to Love Hina... at all. Love Hina is a harem comedy (and imho, a really bad one, I never found the comedy in it to be funny). Suzuka is a slice-of-life romantic drama. I think Suzuka does a pretty good job of portraying relationships between high school students (i.e. they make mistakes, but that's to be expected since they're still kids). Worth a shot at $12.

-Edit-
Btw, for those who have never ordered from shawnek @ Amazon before, the items come in the same RightStuf packaging. It's great if you are only interested in one item since the item cost is usually lower than on RS; however, if you want multiple items, you have to pay for shipping separately on each item, so usually it's cheaper to buy directly from RS and have one shipping cost (or free shipping for orders $49+).

Here's a silly question. Do you guys keep the little box insert that comes with the series boxes? Obviously it has no purpose once you jam all of the DVD boxes into it, but I'm curious if I should keep them to have the series "complete" (just like I would keep a manual for a game)

I've got Gankutsuou coming too, the dvd boxset, I was actually going to buy the version you have on with rightstuf minus the s.a.v.e tablet for about a dollar more then the 19.99$ boxset since the boxset seems like it'll take up about 2-3 times as much room as the set you're getting.Luckily though from what I've heard the one I'm getting has all the special features and when funimation decided to re-release it under a new boxset after they got it from Geneon, they unforunately decided to leave out all of the special features for whatever reason.I got free shipping with this order with Kurau and some blind boxes so it wasn't too big of a bargain loss.
Has anyone actually seen Gankutsuou?I went and ordered it for it being a cheap price and glowing reviews of being one of the best anime of all time and haven't heard/seen a single bad review for it, the only complaint I've heard is some pacing issues but that its worth it.

Got in Kurau today, along with 3 $5 Blind Boxes. They were Eden's Bowy (again), New Fist Of The North Star, and Wedding Peach Season 1. I had a larger box set of Wedding Peach Season 1, so I just swapped them. Will trade the other titles on Goozex or use them as prizes in an upcoming anime contest on my site.

Okay, just gave up Human Crossing slot for High School Rumble(Both Sets) and Gankutsuou (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001R10BDC/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER)....I was going to bite on the set on Rightstuf because people said it was beautiful but I just don't have the space on my shelf for another full fledge dvd case release.....also I bought Rumble because of all the praise on here..I hope I made a good decision...I see that Galaxy Railways is on sale at Amazon...any feedback on that..keep in mind I will most likely think of Galaxy Express 999...so will I be let down if I jump for this series?
I thought Galaxy Railways was pretty forced, and after a couple episodes I dropped it. Didn't like it enough to keep watching.
Gankutsuou, on the other hand, is a very good series that unfortunately falls apart towards the end, but is definitely still worth watching.

I'm about 10 or 11 days out of their 90 day return policy, but I e-mailed them anyway. Hopefully I get a replacement disc. I will now be opening all sets as soon as I get them in. Sucks....

I got my shipment today.this crazy ole black mail lady gave me a small stare after I didn't hear her and was sleeping in and she honked about for a minute or two so if I disappear shortly I'm afarid its due to a crazed postal worker :twoguns:.Out of two 5$ blind boxes got Wedding Peach Season 1 collection and New fist of the north star.
Heres where I feel a little cheated though, for my 10$ blind box they gave me Farscape collection 4,not a fan of the show having never watched it but from what it says on the first thing about blind boxes though "1.Is anime, manga or Asia-related;" it would seem they broke their own little blind box rule.
Whats worse is I just looked it up on their website and they have it listed for 5.99, so I actually lost money by getting it for a 10$ blind box.
Still great deals rightstuf and got Kurau on a bargain so its not too overly bad.

I hope they find one, and I'm very pleased with how great their CS is. They could have easily ignored it as I was about 10 days outside of their 90 day window.

I actually mentioned what I said about it here somewhere else that Shawne webbrowses and he saw it and pm'ed me and told me it was an error and he'd fix it for me.So thankfully I'll be getting a replacement I think.Good thing that I never opened up Farscape too I suppose so it's still in returnable condition.

Those Thursday Weekly Specials are pretty neat, so many Bargain Bundles. I couldn't pass up Xenosaga for $10. One of the volumes had a sticker on the shrink wrap that said "Best Buy $19.99". Not complaining or dissatisfied in any way, just thought that was funny.
So I ordered Thursday and got on Tuesday, that's with free shipping option. One of my items didn't come and the paper said it was on back-order. How does Right Stuf handle this? Will it be shipped at some later date & charged to CC? Or will I have to reorder it somewhere else?
I see by logging into my account there my order status says "Partially backordered"

Got in my new $10 blind box today.Nadia,The Secret of the Blue Water Collection 2.Haven't seen it yet but thought about buying it one time before. They have Collection 1 in the weekly bargains unfortunately don't feel like buying it right now since I'd rather wait to buy more stuff for free shipping lol.
Edit: Finished watching Phantom Memory Kurau and Gankutsuou.Kurau turned out "ok" for me.Still for 15$ it wasn't so bad, came with all of the volumes and the series box art to put them all in.It had its moment though although I couldn't fully recommend it I wouldn't say not to get it either.
I was really impressed with Gankutsuou though. It turned out to be a masterful anime even though at first the animation for hair and clothing seemed sort of odd with it looking like there's a background and the clothes change depending on where they were but after an episode or two you just get used to it.Watched with the japanese voices and subtitles. The english dub although only watched part of the first episode with it seemed decent but the japanese voice cast just seemed better especially with the count since he has such a great voice actor. It's starting to seem a little odd how many lead roles the guy who played as the black power ranger gets not that hes a bad voice actor or anything .Played in this as Albert and he has the lead roles in Trigun as Vash and now he does the dub for Ichigo in Bleach.

Haruhi S2 arrived today... I had completely forgotten about it since I ordered it in early July. I was surprised that the set comes with a 2 track cd. I haven't checked them out yet, but I read they are the intro and outro tracks... very nice Bandai :)
-Update-
For a box set with such a high msrp, you would think Bandai would use a better box. The first time I opened the set some of those little plastic wedges fell out. I thought whatever, this happens some times, no big deal as long as none of the discs got scratched. Then I took out disc 1 and this pos fell apart. Now those little plastic wedges keep coming off and none of the discs stay in place. This is the first time I will have to find another case for a box set. Fuck Bandai, I congratulate you on including some music tracks from the series as a nice bonus, but spend the extra few cents to use better packaging :bomb:

lol. It was still good.It did have its moments and I was happy that they didn't cop out and turn away from showing darker elements instead of everyone just turning out all fine and dandy.I went with the english dub since it seemed like it was alright after flipping back and fourth between just the first episode.
For only 15$ its still a good price and can't complain :D.Especially compared to those who would have paid 19.99$ a volume from like on a sticker I found on one of em from best buy.I noticed someone else mentioned it up there too. They must buy some unsold inventory from them at a cheaper price I'd think.

I've got a fair amount of anime on hold as of late like Nadia and some others which I just bought the first season to go along with the 2nd season which I got from a 10$ blindbox and just started watching it after finishing Basilisk and the MGS Compilation movies and Char's Counterattack.Nadia has turned out pretty good so far but only 8 episodes in.Luckily thanks to the blindbox I got the whole series for a tad less then 22$
I'm tempted to burn even bigger holes through my wallet and get Trigun on sale for a slightly smaller price of 30$ with that and just awesome boxart and Tokyo Majin S.A.V.E. Edition and add a blind box for free shipping but I think I'll just end up skipping it for now until a bigger bargain comes along.I haven't seen Tokyo Majin or anything but I've seen some decent reviews and it just looks/sounds appealing.Anyone have an opinion on it?

I'm thinking about Eden of the East and maybe Sengoku Basara, I know I'm getting to the game and the anime had to be kind of good to get another season.
The only reason I can see to wait on Eden of the East is if you want to hold on for a Tsubasa-esque complete pack with all three movies and the show together in a pack, since FUNi licensed all three, but no idea when those will actually show up.

Don't think I've ever seen this thread go this long without a post , especially when there are two special sales going on. Makes the previous 8 days with no post look like nothing.
Black Friday sale going through tomorrow (I think). Beck SAVE set for $15 and Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. Season 1 and 2 anime legends sets for $25 each seem like good deals. Not sure about anything else though.
Also there's a 60% off Dr.Master books going on , don't know when it ends though. Thinking about picking up some new series but not sure whats any good. But at around $4 a volume for a lot of them I suppose it wouldn't be a big loss even if some of them were lousy.

The in-stock sales are only for items listed as 'in stock' that aren't excluded from further discounts already. It's actually one of the worst sales TRSI does.
It's not totally pointless, though... there's certain publishers/items that don't go on sale outside of these in-stock sales, so assuming they've got the odd item around, you can a get a markdown. More notably, these sales are about the same as publisher sale on books and manga. Since you can pick around from all manga instead of just 1 publisher, it can be a great way to fill gaps in your collection.
I'm all caught up though, so I'll be skipping this one.

Didn't know that- I typically only keep up with this stuff as the discs get release dates, lest I drive myself crazy waiting for something that won't come for months (or years). And I'm just so used to 52 episode stuff I simply figured that'd be it. *shrugs*

Is it me, or are some of the prices on anime Blurays on Amazon lower today. I'm looking at:
Eden of the East [Bluray] - $24.49
Sengoku Basara [Bluray] - $23.99
Casshern Sins Part 1 and 2 [Bluray] - $21.99
Full Metal panic! COmplete Series [Bluray] - $21.99
Claymore [Bluray] - $27.99
Seems Amazon lowered some of these titles again.
Edit: nevermind, Amazon has had these on sale before and have them again.

I tried getting from Amazon but they arrived all banged up, so I''m looking for another solution.
Thanks!
Everything I've ever received from them was packaged superbly. Oodles of butcher paper ensured that the items arrived minty.

Is it me, or are some of the prices on anime Blurays on Amazon lower today. I'm looking at:
Eden of the East [Bluray] - $24.49
Sengoku Basara [Bluray] - $23.99
Casshern Sins Part 1 and 2 [Bluray] - $21.99
Full Metal panic! COmplete Series [Bluray] - $21.99
Claymore [Bluray] - $27.99
Seems Amazon lowered some of these titles again.
Edit: nevermind, Amazon has had these on sale before and have them again.
I saw posts upon posts in every anime sale thread saying "Wait for rightstuf's next funimation sale", and so I did. When it finally arrived, almost everything I wanted was overpriced and had crazy shipping.

The only reason I even updated it in November was (I think) to remove the "OP under construction from the Thread title since it had been under construction for a long time. Before that I can't even remember when it had been last updated. In my defense the censensus among many of the regulars seemed to be that a lot of the info in the OP wasn't really needed anyway since most useful info (new weekly/coupon sales , items worth getting) are posted in the thread regularly (they used to be anyway). That doesn't really excuse the fact that a clean useful OP can be beneficial to regular and non-regular thread go-ers alike.
If desired I could take another stab at cleaning up the OP and trying to keep it current , but if someone else is interested in taking the thread over I have no problems with passing the reins off to someone new.

What do you mean by "crazy shipping"? I assume you don't want to use the economy shipping for some reason?

It's no problem with whatever you choose. Essentially, if we have a site sale thread, it should at least have the weekly sale noted in the OP. So for example, if ADV dvds are on sale for 20% this week, just note that and possibly and notable DVDs which are in demand or a good deal. =)

I don't mind taking over the thread (presumably just starting a new one). From the different TRSI stuff that I post from the various sites, it won't require much effort on my end.

I notice they are having a Bandai sale going on right now. I have been looking to purchase Ghost in the Shell SAC Season 1 but cannot find it cheap anywhere. I picked up the 2nd season at FYE for 19.99 and would like to find it around that price point. I noticed Rightstuf did not discount this particular item even though it is pretty cheap anyways...I just hate to pay up to 30 bucks shipping and all. The cheapass in me is dying. Is there any way in heck I can message righstuf about this and see if they will consider this a part of the sale. Has anyone done this in the past?

I doubt it. The way I understand it every sale is coordinated with the publisher, so RS can't just include an item from another publisher as part of the current sale.
$27 for GiTS SAC S1 is a decent price. You could wait for a sale on RS (doubt it would drop much further since msrp is $50), or Amazon every so often has an anime sale and this series has been included in the past (can't remember the price Amazon had it for, I think it was at least $20).

I'm confused- the only listing I see on TRSI for SAC season 1 is the anime legends release- and it is included in the sale. (And where does the $30 shipping come in? If you've got it that high, you should be able to get free economy shipping.)

$30 for GitS : SAC season 1 or 2 isn't a bad price but I think I've seen it go as low as $20 or $25.

Don't think so. You can join the Got Anime program for $12 a year and get 10% almost all purchases (only a few items are not not eligible for the discount if they are already discounted a lot). Got Anime also gives you a coupon code each month for $X off a purchase of $Y. Unfortunately you will rarely use the coupon codes since they aren't valid on publisher sales, but the 10% off is always valid and a smart move if you buy a lot from RS.

Waiting for RS to ship me FLCL that was released over a week ago. I think they're waiting to combine shipping with Eva 2.22 that I ordered at the same time and releases at the end of March... bad move RS. I payed a little extra by going with RS instead of Amazon since I prefer to support a site dedicated to anime, but if they can't ship me items as they become available I will switch to Amazon.

Well , got sick which was an unforeseen circumstance but I did finally manage to get around to updating the OP. Wiped out all the old highlighted bargain bin sale item since most of them were probably long since OOS anyway. Will be taking suggestions for new featured bargain bin items , weekly sale items or studio sale items. Also taking suggestions for anything new or interesting I could add to the OP to make it better.

Rightstuf about twice a month goes through orders that have items combined with separate release dates and gets the already or soon to be released items out.
They also have told me to feel free and e-mail them if I would like something shipped sooner, and they would gladly get it out.
I was told this after I had a similar frustration. lol

TRSI hasn't shipped on release for a couple years (I think my first affected DVD was the FMA movie, for reference.)
Basically, due to increased shipping costs, TRSI holds everything on your order until it all comes into stock, then ships it at once. If you want it sooner, you've got 2 options: contact them and agree to pay a couple bucks for a partial shipment, or order it by itself (so it'll ship automatically, since the order will be 'full'.)
Honestly, most of us just wait- TRSI reserves the option to do a partial shipment at their own disrection (depending on how full the wherehouse is.) This usually happens every couple weeks, so you don't have to wait long.

I usually get dvd's a week or two before release date through RS, especially for Funimation products. I understand saving money on shipping, but they must realize that Amazon offers competitive prices and prime shipping means you always get your stuff on time (never early like RS, but always on or a day/two after release date).
I emailed RS to see if they will ship FLCL already, I will update when they respond. I won't pay extra for it since I'm not in a hurry (still have the original release), but if they want to hold out until the end of March when the rest of my order comes in stock then I will be switching to Amazon for preorders.

Yeah, but with Amazon Prime, you are paying $79 annually for the service.
I never pay for shipping at Right Stuf; I always buy enough items to qualify for free shipping, so it doesn't bother me that they don't ship my in-stock items as soon as they're ready for shipping. However, as a consolation, they do periodically make partial shipments at their own discretion, which is pretty cool, since they're paying for multiple shipments for my one order.
I can sympathize with you though, since I would have liked to watched Summer Wars this weekend, but they shipped it too late for it to arrive today, and they only just shipped it this week because I think I had enough items in-stock and reserved for them to make a partial shipment. However, I fully understand that if I really, really wanted to watch Summer Wars this weekend, I could have bought it from Amazon, for example, but I think I have enough anime in my backlog that it doesn't really matter that I'm not receiving Summer Wars this weekend.

All true. I don't mind waiting for FLCL since I still have the original, but if Eva 2.22 had been released first and I was waiting for another item coming out a month later I would be annoyed.
I share prime with the people in my house (since you can share prime with up to 5 amazon accounts as long as the address is the same), so the cost per person is less than $79. Being able to buy any Amazon item regardless of price and get free 2-day shipping (or release date shipping for certain preorders) is well worth the premium. If RS had a premium version of Got Anime where you could get free shipping on all orders I would probably subscribe.
What I take from this is if you want to place an order for multiple preorder items with spaced out release dates you may want to go with Amazon since their prices are usually competitive while their shipping is more timely. For already released items I wait for the right publisher sale at RS.
-Update-
RS replied and will be sending FLCL now. If it is only a week or two between release dates I understand waiting to combine shipping, but when the difference is over a month they really should automatically ship when available.

One thing I do now is make orders through them of all items that release around the same time and make sure it is over $50 for the free shipping. Even if it makes multiple orders, it helps to ensure quicker shipping around release. :)

On the RS homepage there is a button that says "What's on Sale?", that will list all items included in the current publisher sale. Every week or two a new publisher sale starts, usually 40% off videos and 33% off books.
For bargain bin look at the drop down menu at the top of the screen under "ANIMESuperstore", there you'll find the "Bargain Bin" link. Bargain bin doesn't get new entries too often but it does sell out regularly.
For deals on specific titles you need to wait for their respective publisher to have a sale. Like Death Note is licensed by Viz and El Cazador de la Bruja by Funimation. Funimation recently had a sale so you won't see them have another one for at least two more months, but I don't think Viz has gone on sale lately.

If you don't mind getting Funimation shows in 2 parts, they usually get really cheap on Rightstuf and Amazon Marketplace when the complete sets come out. El Cazador Complete Collection comes out on the 8th, so the 2 parts will likely move to the bargain bin and might sell out pretty fast, so keep an eye out if you can.

Yup, but like I said, they sell out FAST. The same thing happens whenever a box set gets a Viridian collection put out. The remaining stock of the older box set usually gets clearanced, so it sells out. Currently there are a few half season sets in there that won't get sold because the other half is sold out, or the S.A.V.E. edition is cheaper. (Le Chevalier D'eon Complete, Welcome to the NHK, Pumpkin Scissors, Ghost Hunt, Tokyo Majin)
Edit: Oh, I also see Dragonaut part 1&2, Gantz, Baccano, Black Blood Brothers and several other complete collections in there. Guess you didn't look hard enough.
And don't forget to check Amazon too. Parts 1&2 of shows like Romeo X Juliet, Blassreiter, Tower of Druaga, Nabari no Ou and Kaze no Stigma are super cheap from various sellers because the combined box sets are out. It's only a matter of time before El Cazador de Bruja follows suit.

The new sale, until March 17th, is for Nozomi Entertainment. This includes the first of three LE boxsets for Utena which is due June 7th. This is probably the stand-out item for the sale; from what information they have released this appears to be a domestication of the Japanese LE boxsets that were released from 2008-2009. They haven't said how many will be made or if there will also be a regular edition; they also haven't said if they will be doing an LE for the movie too.

About REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA: The Student Council Saga
“Never lose that strength or nobility, even when you grow up.” When Utena was just a child and in the depths of sorrow, she found salvation in those words. They were the words of a prince, who wrapped her in his rose-scented embrace and bestowed upon her both a ring and the promise that it would lead her to him again. She never forgot the encounter. In fact, she was so impressed that she aspired to be like the prince and also help those in need.
Now a spirited teenager, Utena attends the prestigious Ohtori Academy. However, her strong sense of chivalry soon places her at odds with the school's student council and thrusts her into a series of mysterious and dangerous duels against its members.
Contains episodes 1-12 (the events of the Student Council Saga).

What is the details on this Utena set? Is it the series just re-released? I own all the originals so do I need this? It does look neat.

It's the same series that was already released, but it's much higher quality.

It's a complete remaster, like what was done with Evangelion many years ago. It's a *huge* improvement over the old Central Park Media discs. I preordered it earlier today, the very moment I saw it was available.
Also, a public service announcement:
Utena is the best thing ever.

I want to buy the Utena set, but I'm at a loss for how to pad out my order for free shipping. I'll probably take a risk and wait for the last day of the sale, to see if I can add in items from the next sale... otherwise I might just put in one of those 'stuf for service' bundles they've got now.

My gamble paid off- mixed Utena pre-order with a couple volumes of Sunshine sketch and the first volume of A Bride's Story. I really shouldn't be starting new series (I'm running low on manga room), but it sounds good, and I'm intrigued by the idea of hardcover manga that isn't a library edition. ;)

OP dated , new sale on Ya Entertainment K-Drama and Funimation Save Editions. I know the Save Editions have been on sale but now the OP reflects that.
Usually I don't ever get anything from the live action sales but I decided this time to take a chance and get Jumong based on good reviews from Amazon.

Its a nice but decent series.I liked it and you can get it pretty cheap these days. I got mine a non save edition for like 14$ counting shipping about 6 months back. Not really so much action in it and not so scary like I heard it was somewhat but more talking and investigating but a decent series especially for the cheap prices you can get it these days.

Lastly, as something that I've been thinking about doing for the last week or so I waited till now to do it , I decided to wikify the thread. This should help streamline the thread , as well as let others more easily highlight items that might be worth picking up.

RS cancelled my ordered of Der Mond: Art of Evangelion from 3 months ago. At the time of ordering it was in "more arriving soon" status. From what I've read online it has been oop for quite some time, I don't understand why it took 3 months for RS to realize this. If they had canceled my order sooner I could have found a used copy months ago. I emailed them about it, still waiting for a response.
Funny enough I tried ordering that same art book from two other sources. animengames.com said they had it new in stock but canceled my order within an hour or so. That's the first and last time I use that site, I can't stand when a site's online stock system is borked. Then I tried getting a used copy from a third-party Amazon seller and they canceled my order two days later... wtf. Finally found a used copy from another Amazon third-pary seller and it has been shipped.
Back to RS, just ordered Shinji Ikari Raising Project v1-8. I just missed the Dark Horse sale but the volumes were still 25% under retail. Amazon has a 4-3 sale on books right now (including these volumes) but it was still cheaper to go through RS since I have gotanime (otherwise the prices would have been equal and I definitely would have gone through Amazon). Also ordered Art of Bleach and Art of Fullmetal Alchemist Anime.
-Update-
Got my used copy of Der Mond: Art of Evangelion, and it is gorgeous. For a paperback it's in as good a condition as possible, only minor damage to the cover edges. I would have preferred the hardback but couldn't find a used copy in as good condition.
-Update 2-
Emailed RS again and this time they responded. Apparently Viz kept telling them they could fulfill the order, after 3 months that finally said they couldn't. RS is a great company, it's a lot more believable that this was Viz's fault.
Art of Fullmetal Alchemist Anime came in. I was hoping for art inspired by the anime, instead it is basically character shots pulled from the show on various backgrounds (kinda like a nice collection of wallpapers). There are two other Fullmetal Alchemist art books that are based on the manga rather than the anime, those are probably more up my alley.

Yea, I preordered a figure from them about 2 years ago. They never even emailed me saying it couldn't be fulfilled. A couple months later, I asked them about it, and they said it was canceled. That figure by then was completely sold out everywhere. I went with HLJ after that, and I still don't have that figure.

Ah! My Goddess Season 1 ordered 8/26; Ah! My Goddess Season 1 shipping confirmation 10/23. No charge on my Credit Card until it shipped. Hope that helps. I had no idea it was back-ordered when I placed the order, but I did regularly receive emails that said "Don't worry, we're working on it" saying they'll get some more in stock soon.

I looked everywhere and other than marketplace and ebay every Code Geass is "on order" status everywhere...what is up with that?

Thread Title is now accurate. Thanks for the assist G-Nitro. Updating the thread has been bugging me for a while but I was being lazy and kept putting it off. Also , in the past I had considered putting Shawn's Daily Deals in the thread , but that was back when you could only see them 1 at a time and could only pick 1 deal. Don't know when they changed it.
On the sale at hand , I know they are not out let , but does anyone have any thoughts about the new omnibus editions that Viz is putting out? I would consider getting them , but I heard bad things about the One Piece ones they put out a year or so ago , and if these are anything like that I'd probably pass.

I heard that the paper quality is worse than the paper quality that they use in the standard GN releases (which in turn is worse than the quality from the Viz BIG releases) as well as the spine of the book not being as durable and more prone to breaking after long term reading (people saying that by the time they finished reading the whole book the spine was already showing damage). Don't know if these were just isolated reports or not. I've yet to find one in the wild to see the quality hands on.
Currently One Piece is the only series (that I know of) with Omnibus editions already available. Bleach , Naruto , Kekkashi and Fullmetal are getting releases in June with more later on.

They're continuing that tradition with the newer books. I flipped through the first Naruto omnibus last week, and noticed that the paper was super-thin.

Thanks for that post WTK. I went ahead and bought Genshiken 2 (deluxe edition) and Ah! My Goddess season 1 box set. My first anime purchase in like two years, lol.

Rightstuf finally cancelled my order for Phoenix vol. 6 from months ago, because fucking Viz refuses to reprint the entire series, as volumes are reaching exorbitant prices.
The Bandai sale looks promising, but I'll wait longer until the original Gundam is released.
