Crud, I can't believe that I can't use a coupon in a mail-in order.

You can use the catalog coupons (cut 'em out, mail 'em in). I know some people have managed to get the online coupons by filling the cart online, then using the print & mail-in option, but I don't know a lot about that. Why can't you just order online?

I'm also waiting for this, The response I got when I asked about it is that they have asked bandai and are still waiting on a response about it.

I'm still waiting for all the stuff from the Bandai Sale.... I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come from Bandai.

If I'm to believe the stuff I've been told from the RACS newsletter, Bandai recently switched replicators (remember all those defective discs?) and as such, production's a lil' screwy on their end right now. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Oh yeah, I forgot all about that. Speaking of which I should contact them about that messed up Code Geass disc. But I'm not sure if that explains where the manga I ordered is. I ordered the 2nd Code Geass novel and Nightmare of Nunnally. Both of those were coming out at the end of March.

It's taken so long that they actually separated my Blue Sumbarine #9 and Code Geass 3 into a separate shipment finally.

Did they ship Code geass 3 to you?

I think I might have to grab a few things during this sale. For no good reason I got back in Ghost in the Shell the other day and I want to pick up Ghost in the Shell 2 and Ghost in the Shell 2nd Gig. For some reason I complete forgot about them during the Bandai Sale.

Yea, it shipped out yesterday. Does Code Geass season 1 end on a cliff hanger? I might have to wait to watch it until season 2 is announced on dvd/blu-ray.

Also, both of the GitS seasons were like $60 at deepdiscount a couple weeks ago.

Yep -- Code Geass S1 does end on a cliff hanger. I'd recommend you watch Season 1 as it becomes available because it's practically guaranteed that S2 will be getting a release soon after S1 is finished. Have fun!

Huh? Part 3 that i'm getting in the mail soon will be the end of S1, and there's still no details about S2, hopefully it'll be fall 2009.

None of the things I'm interested in has been reduced any further. I'm sure there are some bargains, but most appear to be the same $.

They did add a few titles to the bargain bin, so it's not a total bust.

Wow, that is one hell of a list. Keep in mind i'm still fairly new to anime, so some of you may think some prices are high, some of you may not like something i've posted, some of you may not believe i left out something you think is good. Fuck off ;).

I'm waiting to hear back from people before buying, i know there's a lot here i would consider, but i want to see what other people think are the best deals before i go placing any orders. Sale ends in ~2 weeks, April 27.

Still waiting for Rightstuf to ship my stuff from the Bandai Sale(They finally sent CG vol 3). But Vandread is somewhat tempting... But Funi is releasing a smaller boxset that I'll pick up on Sale. I just need to get rid of my old DVD then.

Hah, I see now.

Well, I ended up buying GetBackers. Like you, I was on a long hiatus from anime, so I have no real concept of pricing. Last time I was really into anime, it was absurdly expensive. Now that costs are more reasonable, I don't really know what a deal is... so I probably should have waited.

Ah well.

yeah, they are highlighting it again, but they didn't really add much of anything new. A few price drops for the $8 ish ones would be nice (There are dozens of things up around that price I would pick up for like $4 each).

IDK about the price, but i originally paid $35 for box set 2, and i absolutely love GTO. Some episodes are cliched/corny, but the overall series is one of my favorites. It just makes you want to watch episode after episode.

With there cart system it's best if you look through the list and make a list on a piece of paper then put them in. The cart resets back to empty really fast imo.

With that said I still somehow screwed up and miss Air vol. 3. :bomb:

Trinity Blood

I have no idea which one to choose =/.

El Hazard OVA (but not El Hazard 2) (Only have vol 1+2)
Gankutsuou
Beck (have it)
Haibane Renmei (OOS)
Jubei-chan 2 (looks meh)
Kodocha
Last Exile (have it)
Le Chevalier D'Eon (have it)
X (series is $40)
Witchblade (looks meh)

That leaves me with two options. The problem with Kodocha is that it's very expensive for all 13 volumes, and Gankutsuou looks really good but is pretty expensive itself. Right now, i'm hoping Air or Haibane Renmei come back into stock, those look to be the best options.

Thanks :)

Trust me, the shows you originally listed off were *far* more "meh" than anything I listed. Like I said, Kiddy Grade is probably the best of the lot, but even that's stretching it. Anyways, bullet points!

-The El Hazard OVA is only two volumes. That's all of it.

-Gankutsuou is SO GOOD and SO WORTH IT.

-Jubei-chan is one of my favorite anime series *ever*, but if you haven't seen the first half, you'd be missing out on a large chunk of the story.

-Kodocha is one of the best values of the whole sale. There's a lot of it, but it's all *so good*! Actually, I'd probably advise picking up the first six discs from the sale, and then get the second collection for the rest of the discs. Volume 9 is MIA.

-X is $32 for the whole series, unless you want the Remix versions. The video and sound were already fantastic on the originals, so unless you *need* fancy surround sound, the originals are great.

-I thought Witchblade looked "meh" too until I finally picked it up on an impulse buy, and wow, was I ever wrong. On the outside, it looks like a vapid, big-breasts fighting show, but it turned out to be a fantastic character-driven sci-fi drama that I really enjoyed.

If flipping DJ Max crew edition works out, i may lose my entire profit thanks to you. I knew there was a reason i stopped visiting this thread, it drains my money. I wish i'd known about El Hazard being 2 volumes only, i placed my order already (and i'll try to place one more the day the sale ends, we'll see). I'll try and get Monte Cristo, El Hazard, and the other two Air volumes in (maybe the movie too). As for X and Witchblade, and ESPECIALLY Kodocha, unfortunately they'll have to wait for another time. My first order:

1 $7.00 * dart001 Air TV Series DVD 1 (Hyb)
1 $7.00 * dartbx1 Air TV Series DVD 2 (Hyb) + Artbox
1 $28.00 * fun05860 Galaxy Railways Complete Collection D

1 $3.00 * av80131 Scryed (S-cry-ed) DVD 2 (Hyb): The Al

I netflixed Haibane and was underwhelmed & puzzled by all the hyped reviews. I'd say hell yeah for Hell Girl anyday.

X tv left me feeling like it should've been more epic and falling short. Hooked till the end, but the emotional punch just didn't reach where the orchestral piece Sadame strived for. Inuki the dog stole the show. I wanted to smack his owner.

Caught a few eps of Mythical Detective Loki Ragnorok and it's a romping mysterious supernatural horror comedy mix. The thinpak collection dropped to $29.99.

And that's all it took to prod many people to go digging through to place orders. I read that a lot of sites mentioned the sale and they got swamped for a bit, so it's smart strategy on TRSI's part to move old inventory.

Love the bargain bin as a fairly new discovery myself, but this sale isn't all that spectacular for the same reasons you mentioned. The increased traffic has now forced those who were on the sidelines to go into frenzy mode for fear of dwindling stock due to the new/reawakened shoppers.

Kaching!

Unrelated, but I noticed on TRSI news that they recently started a disc swap (+fee) program for those who want the newly remastered Irresponsible Captain Tylor TV DVD discs. Even with the $20 fee, it's a great offer IMO since this new version, with the exception of the remastered video, is pretty stripped-down. TRSI really went all-out with the previous box (which included a hardcover novella, soundtrack + artbook) & I'm definitely keeping that one (it's already reselling more than its original MSRP).

Oh no doubt , same here. Actually I have most of my stuff in boxes right now since I don't have a suitable shelve setup for most of my stuff. Still , I like it when I can get a boxset/collection that takes up less space than single volumes. Much like I've been replacing some of my older video games with digital versions to free up some space as well.

I'm not necessarily going to pass up a deal though over space issues.

Thats the same thing stopping from grabbing My-Otome. And it will probably keep me from grabbing Eureka Seven as well... Then again the series kind of went downhill for me later on anyway.

The price for My-Otome keeps me away more than the space issue. I don't think I can bring myself to pay more than ~$20 for the series.

Is Pani Poni Dash worth 50 bucks?

No. Definitely no.

Edit - I got Moon Phase + Kiddy Grade :/ I hope Kiddy grade is good.

Both of those are pretty average. Kiddy Grade is slightly better. :/ indeed.

Well, everyone said horrid things about Black cat, but I really enjoyed it. They said how it was obsessed with Saya and how the ending was horrible. I guess I enjoy almost anything...

What the?! When did Eureka 7 go on sale?! Looks like it's time for another order. Any ideas on which special editions I should get? Each one can be used as a holder for each half of the set right?

I'm not sure when it went on sale because I swear I looked through everything Thursday evening and didn't see it listed among the bargain bin.
According to Kirin, vol 1 and 7 have the boxes to hold the series.

Eureka Seven went on sale yesterday (Friday afternoon), I originally found out through their Anime Today twitter at https://twitter.com/animetoday.

I was definitely happy to see it on sale so I could complete the second half of the series!

Ordered Eureka Seven and got special editions to 1,7, and 9. Is the manga just the normal manga to the series? If so i can just look for it later if i like it. Didn't feel like getting every special edition, i just wanted soundtrack in 9.

*edit looks like they are just normal manga* Glad. I've been eyeing this show for a while now and for $54 for 12 discs w/ art boxes, a few soundtracks, and manga its a hell of a deal.

Here's the form if you want in:
http://www.tylor.com/images/tylorTVForm.pdf

Since it's just a disc-for-disc switch (you keep all the spiffy extras), I'd consider doing it... if the count wasn't different! What's up with the 5th disc, TRSI? I can't put that back into the old artbox.

I will make sure my BF's sister knows about this, though- she's always borrowing my Tylor DVDs, I'm sure she'd like a set of her own. (If it goes on a good enough sale one day, I might re-buy it too. Tylor's a great show.)

Also, what SE's do I get if I just want enough boxes to house the series? I just want to have the series split up in art boxes, and don't really need anything extra.

Yes, it was always "On Order from the Manufacturer." And your artbox question has been answered at least twice, maybe three times now - 1 and 7.

It was on sale last time and a lot of people said it was mediocore but I bought it anyway. My GF and I really liked the show, her more than I even. It starts off a little confusing cause there's so many characters but it really picks up in the middle. The only problems are it drags at the end alot, like the last 3 episodes, there is a recap episode you can totally skip in the middle, and there is one episode where it shows them the day before the fighting started and it feels completely out of place, you might be better off skipping that one too. We saw the Shinobi movie after the anime and didn't like it cause it changed things but if you saw the movie first the anime is a lot more detailed and they use the same voice actors. I say get it, totally worth $29.

8 shirts
8 boxes
8 Manga Volumes[6 original manga, 2 video game manga]
4 soundtracks

All that right there is more than $92 alone. Not even including the full 50 episode series.

Interesting. So, not too much. Well, grab My Hime for $21 ($3 per 7 disks) or with a t-shirt and two artboxes for $27. Then, if Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid gets its first disk in stock, you'll pay $24 for that.

So, that'd bring you to $45 or $51 depending on your order. To fill up the remaining $4 (since shipping is free at $49), I would suggest a double pack. The double pack will net you the first volume of two different series at the cost of $4. Your choices are:

Basilisk/Trinity Blood
Desert Punk/Speed Grapher
Gungrave/Heat Guy J

I'd suggest the Gungrave/Heat Guy J pack.

Now, if you're not keen on having unfinished volumes of a series, you could try one of their movies. The only halfway decent one I noticed that was on sale is eX-Driver, which apparently isn't all that bad, but it isn't that good either. It's a movie, which means it's complete, which is the main reason I'd recommend it. However, it is $6.

My-Hime at $3 a pop is a no brainer for anyone who doesn't have it. It's an incredibly well done series with some massive twists and turns around the half-way point.

My-Otome isn't as good and has more of a sci-fi plot and more fanservice. If you like those things and liked My-Hime then you will most likely like My-Otome as well though. It gets a bad rap because people like to compare it to My-Hime instead of rating it on its own.

I'd also highly suggest Witchblade but you can get the boxset cheaper elsewhere if you look on www.dvdpricesearch.com

Absurd, completely random (occasionally otaku-oriented) comedy, ala Excel Saga- only somehow more laid back, like some sort of crazy Excel/Azumanga Daioh mutant. Since I like both of those shows, I really enjoyed Pani Poni Dash!- if you don't, you might not be able to get into it (I know a lot of folks around here don't like it.) Those plastic dvd cases shaped like a brick that hold 4 or 5 dvds , while I detest that cheap packaging you can't argue with the price they normally go for. Remastered IRRESPONSIBLE CAPTAIN TYLOR

Nozomi Entertainment has plans to revisit another fan favorite from the Right Stuf catalog, with upcoming re-releases of THE IRRESPONSIBLE CAPTAIN TYLOR. The television series and OVAs (original video animation) each will be re-released as bilingual, thinpak-style box sets that utilize remastered video footage from the Japanese DVD release and feature “soft subtitles.”

I'm still waiting for some of the stuff I ordered during the Bandai sale... Atleast I finally got Code Geass vol 3 this week. Just waiting on Lucky Star vol 6 and some manga.

Any idea of the single-disc editions of Read Or Die have the pencil boards? I hear conflicting reports that it was only for the 1st print run.

I got my copies of R.O.D the TV series today and only volume 7 came with a pencil board.

Volume 2 of Eureka Seven is currently out of stock. Based on recent trends, it should be restocked sometime this week, but if you're interested, keep an eye on it just in case the restock has a low count.

However, I did find a brand new Rurouni Kenshin Season Two set for $30 at Hastings.

I haven't checked this thread in ages, right stuf rarely has a price I couldn't beat by looking around the web.

I've thought about the idea of opening this thread up from just being about Right Stuf , to be more of a general anime sale thread , and including anime deals from other sites , since I know that TRSI isn't the be all/end all when it comes to anime/manga sales , and ultimately most of us here are looking for the best deals first and foremost.

However , if I were to do that , I would need more assisstance from fellow cags in regards to finding deals and keeping the thread up to date. I can (mostly) handle the thread currently with it just being about TRSI , but I won't be able to keep up with ALL the potentially different anime sales that Amazon , Best Buy ect. would all be doing by myself.

Thoughts or opinions on the matter?:-k

I think staying true to RightStuf is fine as is. It's going to be a pain to sort through if this were for general anime deals among all retailers. DVDtalk already has an all encompassing thread if anyone wants one of those.

Besides, nothing really beats the TRSI Bargain Bin and their weekly specials. This has been great resource for hidden gems, older titles, and other great finds. They might not have the best deals for the newer stuff, but no one else is really going to be that much cheaper.

Today is the last day to get in any items you might want from the Bargain Bin sale.

After Re-checking the site , it appears that the Bargain Bin sale has been extended until May 4th (one extra week).

3 day coupon code is for 33% off Icarus Publishing Titles (Adult titles). Because of this I will not be updating the Thread title until thursday (assuming they will have a coupon code then with the bargain bin sale continuing). I wouldn't have to update the OP with anything because there are no "featured" titles for this sale anyway.

Probably not , but maybe you can ask punisher to make another pass through.

Prices probably won't go up , but as we've already seen , people weren't buying the stuff before , but they are buying them now , simply because they are "on sale". Once the sale ends , supply will probably stop moving again.

Well most of the stuff I have bought is significantly cheaper than before and cheaper than other avenues. Also, most of this stuff is out of print; either I buy it now at this low price or I risk losing my chance to purchase it at all.

My only problem is that there is just too much stuff on sale and out of print at the same time. My wallet is not able to take a beating of this magnitude, haha.

Honestly, I'd look up a fansub of the first couple episodes somewhere on this one. I saw the dub premiere at Sakura Con a few weeks ago... it's not at all accurate to the play, but the sci fi/fantasy setting is pretty liberally sprinkled with Shakespeare-ish things- the dub is done largely in Shakespearian language, for example. It's really a hard one to make a call on without seeing it, unless you REALLY like scifi/fantasy blend anime.

It's not that i don't like it, i kinda do actually, i just never really eat it. I guess no matter how much i spend on games/anime, good food always comes first :).

No, i'm not fat, stop looking at me like i'm hoarding a pound of bacon

It felt like every other Bee Train production I've seen (.hack//sign, Noir, etc). Lots of dialogue with a few interesting action sequences.

Pretty damn meh, yeah. I think it was briefly popular because its soundtrack was incredible (that's when Kajiura's style was first unveiled to the masses), but it's really average in every other department.

No- they didn't last time, anyway.

I think the Bargain Bin "sale" is a combination 'fill-in for studio sale we can't have anymore becuase the company's out of business' and 'make people notice the bargain bin so we can get rid of our clearance' thing. Not that it's a bad thing to do that, mind you... ;)

Can't beat that price for three CDs that I have wanted for a long time but refused to pay $30-$50 other sites were charging even for used. This is almost like the time that I found the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack for $7 but that was a long time ago.

The first episode of Noir really hyped the show up for me. The animation style and action sequences combined with the music was as close to perfect as you can get for a pilot, IMO.

The rest of the series really just went downhill and didn't ever really deliver on the promises of the first episode.

As for Bee Train music - I absolutely agree. Yuki Kajiura is the best thing about that company. The themes, typically by See Saw, were often catchy, though they never reached the level of the rest of the soundtrack. It irked me to no end when Yuki and See Saw reversed roles on .hack//Roots (at least I think this is the one where Yuki wrote the opening/ending themes and See Saw did the rest of the soundtrack).

Actually, you're thinking of ALI PROJECT, who also did the opening theme for Noir. It was they who did the soundtrack for .hack//Roots, along with the ending theme, though See-Saw has been involved in many Bee-Train projects over the years. Currently, See-Saw seems to be in hibernation, since Kajiura is currently involved in her FictionJunction projects, and Chiaki Ishikawa is doing her own solo stuff. See-Saw hasn't put out a single since 2005's "Kimi wa Boku ni Niteiru" for Gundam SEED Destiny, and before that it had been over two years since their "Dream Field" album.

Glossary of Terms:
ALI PROJECT: Japanese music group known for their unique sound and dark and mysterious lyrics
Bee-Train: Anime production company
Chiaki Ishikawa: Vocalist for See-Saw
FictionJunction: J-pop project by Yuki Kajiura with several vocalists, most popularly FictionJunction YUUKA
See-Saw: J-pop duo with members Yuki Kajiura and Chiaki Ishikawa
Yuki Kajiura: Anime composer, and J-pop composer for See-Saw, FictionJunction, and various other vocalists

I ordered a copy of the manga Your and My Secret volume 4 on March 2nd, and today (May 6th) it still says "On Order From Manufacturer". I'm probably going to cancel and just order from Amazon since they had it in-stock the last time I checked. This is the longest I have had to wait for anyhting from Rightstuf. I'd rather they just say they can't fulfill the order instead of holding the order two months after my initial order.

I got Heat Guy J since it is by the creator of Noein. I loved Noein, so I thought that I couldn't go wrong with another anime by the same creator. Also, the Heat Guy J boxes also form his face if you put them together length wise or if you put them together with the DVDs facing you; I agree, it is mad awesome, haha.

Like everyone said, it's pretty much Death Note The Movie: PArt 1, from Ryuk's perspective, it was a special aired in Japan, and of course considering it says Vol. 1, there were two specials, so i figure the second half will get localized eventually.

You guys really should watch My-HiME, it's very underrated.

As for My-Otome, i'm STILL (2 MONTHS LATER) waiting for it to come in stock (still on order from manufacturer), so i can't comment on that yet.

Also, i think something's going on with Eureka Seven, maybe something's coming in. I've only gotten vol 5 and 6 so far, but they just emailed me saying my credit card was declined (xD), so if they're trying to charge me, it must've come in stock. My-Otome is pretty solid IMO, if you enjoyed My-HiMe like me, you'll probably like My-Otome too. There are some similarities, but enough differences to hold its own.

Only Eureka Seven DVD I've gotten is volume 12, 9-10 shipped a few days ago for me. I also have a pending charge on my card which should be volumes 7 and 11, which are the last two volumes I'm waiting on.
