Original FMA can be had in 4 sets @ $18.99 each at last check at the Right Stuf bargain bin.

Pick up the first set, see if you like it compared to (or in concert with) Brotherhood, and go from there.

Yeah, get the first box set. That is a fucking beautiful boxset. I might get that as well. I watched all 24 episodes a few months back on Netflix Instant Queue and man I was blown away.

styl3s, if you don't mind some fluff and mecha, I'd say try Full Metal Panic. Also apparently the seasons of Full metal alchemist are coming out as viridian collections with an MSRP of $50 (well the first season is) in september. That low of an MSRP should bring down the price elsewhere. Also
http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/B0XUitA8F1Tp=DaiE7/browse/item/86825/4/0/0
is pretty much the cheapest price for Rurouni kenshin. That's $1 per episode. Yeah its $95, but its still average of $31 per collection. Also, Busou renkin is a pretty awesome action anime from the creator of Rurouni kenshin, yes, I like it. Also on a random side note, does anyone else wish that a company would license rescue Record of Lodoss war? I already have it, but I'd love to be able to recommend it to people again.

I do like mech stuff if it has epic fights

as for the kurau phantom i watched a few videos and wasn't really digging it, i have about 150$ to drop on anime so i might snag the kenshin set and gankutuou, what is so special about kurau phantom? maybe im over looking something

If he has $150 to spend he should be able to buy all three Kenshin Gankutsuo, and kurau. (since kenshin is like 93, gank is 20 and kurau is 30). And if he likes kenshin more power to him, although he could just get the first two seasons, the third season is shit. Hell, he could just get the second season since that's the best part, but at least 1st part is pretty good. Btw, rightstuf doesn't charge tax in most states, and shipping would be free. Btw, I can't speak for Kurau, but generally those two have trustworthy ops on anime. And I still say if you like epic mech battles, then try http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/OYCkIiLQ-dQAwf2u74/browse/item/88341/4/0/0 . Isn't FMP available to watch online? I just looked it up, its on funimation's video site, so you could always watch it on there, forewarning its subbed. I personally thought the dub was amazing, but I can be a little easy on dubs. (they have to be love hina-bad for me not to watch it in english). Btw, Kirin is the FMP blu-ray just a SD upscale? I imagine it is since the original season was from 2001-ish, but would like a confirmation or declination.

I was actually just thinking about that this past week. This was prolly one of the first anime I ever watched.

Rented it from a local movie rental place that carried a small selection of anime. Well actually most of their selection was hentai... and this.

Would love to have a copy of this even tho it's prolly not as good as I remember.

I bought mine from rightstuf and got it a couple weeks ago. Sounds like you just missed the 'first batch' shipment... which, according to what I've read for this show, means TRSI might have to scrape a bit to fill their orders. Give it time.

Haruhi Season 2- $38.99

Looking forward to Haruhi S2.

I can't imagine that it's worth it. 40 dollars and eight of the 14 episodes are identical, and it should also be noted that these episodes are going to be out of context, since they weren't the only episodes aired when they were aired. Last year, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was re-aired, and these new episodes were a part of that re-airing, so unless you make the effort, you're going to be watching these episodes out of context with the rest of the show, and I can't imagine that's going to help its already damaged state.

Yeah, I know, "endless eight". Still want to see it.

I think Bandai mentioned that they need sales of S2 to be good in the west. Hopefully this will lead to production of (a better) S3 (if there is enough source material for it, I haven't checked out the Haruhi manga yet nor do I know much S1+2 have covered from the manga).

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'll look into the correct ordering of the episodes before watching. I watch all of my anime on my nmt, so switching between dvd's isn't a problem. Or I might just rip each episode from the dvds and order them that way. I really liked S1 so I don't mind making the effort to watch more Haruhi.

That's a horrible way of thinking. I doubt the Haruhi production committee is getting any of the money you're spending on the second season given how anime licenses usually work, but that's not the main problem with that line of thinking. You should never buy something with the hope that it will help a company do something else. This isn't a charity, and they don't particularly care about you, the individual. These are all businesses looking to make a profit. Buy what you like and don't buy what you don't like.

If you want to throw some money to Bandai, then buy Kannagi because it's fantastic. It's the best looking anime DVD that I own, it has the best subtitles out of any other anime DVD that I own, and it's a fun show.

I agree, that's a horrible way of thinking. That's not the reason I'm buying S2; I'm buying it because I really enjoyed S1 and so I want to see more Haruhi. I also like supporting anime series that get English dubs because I think too much money is lost due to the wide spread of anime fan-sub streaming. So whenever a series I'm interested in heads over to the west I almost always pick it up. I'm not trying to support Bandai in particular, but I do want to support English dub companies and series that I like.

I was looking at that one, I might pick it up before the sale ends. I only hesitated on it because it isn't English dub. I watch anime at night and (for personal reasons) I can't be reading that late. Thanks for the rec :)

I haven't seen it nor do I want to, but you're just arguing semantics at this point, which is a bit silly, haha. From what I've heard, they're similar enough to the point at which I feel comfortable calling them identical, even if there are ever so slight differences between them.

What adjective would you use instead?

ChibiJosh

Not really. Arguing semantics would be like arguing that something is 'huge' when someone just called it 'big' because there isn't a clear distinction between where big ends and huge begins. This is more like you calling a banana orange and me arguing that it's yellow. While orange is right next to the yellow on the spectrum, there is a clear distinction.
Identical is exactly the same, so there is no leeway there. Something is either identical or it's not.

I BS'd all that, but it sounds good enough.

DarkSageRK

Haruhi s2 has 2 great episodes, 4 good ones, and 8 terribad ones. At that ratio, and with no extras, you'd be insane to buy it for any price over $20.

I liked Haruhi season 2, even with the endless eight. It was annoying, but not too bad to watch once a week. I'd probably kill myself if I marathoned the season, though. It's absolutely not worth more than $20, though. I'd really only buy it if it came in a set with all 26 episodes from both seasons in chronological order like it was (re)aired, and not for more than $30-35, since I already own two versions of the first season.

You guys are crazy for buying complete blind box orders.... But I love it! I'll be interested in seeing whats in the $25 boxes though. I'll willing to bet on newer releases than k-dramas. I mean, those have their own niche in an already niche market....

And since it's been mentioned nonstop for the past page, what's the deal with this infamous endless 8?

Each is redrawn and has its own voice acting, though. And one of them has a K-On! reference, so that's always fun . But it makes the season essentially 7 episodes long, so definitely not worth what they're asking...

I found the proper episode ordering: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Melancholy_of_Haruhi_Suzumiya_episodes
I already have S1 so I'll just rip those episodes now, rip S2 when it arrives, and name them with the proper ordering. I don't care too much for blu-ray since I watch all anime through my nmt and I don't have the proper hdd setup to handle blu-ray space requirements (yet...).

I haven't seen it nor do I want to, but you're just arguing semantics at this point, which is a bit silly, haha. From what I've heard, they're similar enough to the point at which I feel comfortable calling them identical, even if there are ever so slight differences between them.

What adjective would you use instead?
How can you say 8 of 14 are identical when you haven't seen them?

I appreciate Endless 8 for attempting to express subtlety in anime. The eps are identical if you have ADD, sure. It's not about the plot, which doesn't change between eps. It's about the characters, the grim shock of Haruhi's power manifested and feeling helpless as Kyon and especially Yuki -- who goes through what the viewer goes through except 1000x worse. Of course this turns off many, but the ways in which the show bucks expectations works for me.

Endless 8 was absolute shit. You're right though, the episodes aren't identical; they get progressively worse. For me to say this, even though you see Haruhi in a bathing suit every episode, says something about the level of fail it contains. Please understand that this is coming from someone whose favorite anime is TMoHS and whose favorite character is Haruhi.

Funny story. Kyon used to be my favorite male character, but after this shitty season he doesn't even rate top ten. Buy it if you must, to say you did, but pretending to like it just because you spent a lot of time watching it? I think it's time to admit that you made a bad investment and move on...

Haruhi and friends are stuck in a time loop. Sounds great, right? Wrong.

If you want to watch an amazing show that does time loops right, then watch The Tatami Galaxy. It's fucking fantastic.

All right. Here, let me break it down for you. Spoilers, I guess, though it's not like it really matters...

So Haruhi & Co. hit breaktime! Since they're out of school, they just gotta have fun, right?

First episode, they have fun 'n shit. They go to the pool and we get to see some tits and ass. At this point, I thought, "I don't care what anyone says. Tits and ass straight across eight episodes? You'd have to be gay to not want to watch this!" Little did I know, I would be cursing my heterosexuality seven episodes later.

Other activities occur and they're all boring, but okay enough to watch. I figure, "All right. This would be a pretty decent filler episode. So, next episode the plot'll start and this will be really great."

What the fuck was I thinking?

One "pretty decent" filler episode turned into eight terribad episodes. Filler is meant to be seen once, and this was definitely not once. The one new thing that episode 2 brings us is that Kyon realizes that he's stuck in a time loop and has been for the 5000000 years or something equally ridiculous. Rather than try to stop it, he doesn't do anything, leaving it up to his next retarded incarnation. Yes, rather than save Yuki the pain of having to live through all that shit (because she actually retains her memory, but can't do anything about the situation), he just says "fuck it" and leaves it up to someone else to fix. He even knows the correct way to fix the loop is to complete Haruhi's summer and make her not have any regrets. What a cunt.

Oh, BTW, nobody's actions change from episode 2 up until episode 8, when the only change occurs in the last 3 minutes. So you get to see filler after filler with stupid character interaction after stupid interaction.

So what does the final episode bring us? Why, we get to find out how Kyon & co. break out of the time loop! How? Well, Kyon invites Haruhi to do homework with them. Yes, because Haruhi is the only person with her head on right when it comes to academics, she never fucked up her life so badly that she had to do everything last minute like the fuckwits she hangs around with do. By having everyone copy off her homework, Haruhi's summer is complete and the time loop ends.

Yes, really.

Does this ignore the fact that at the end of every episode, before leaving, Haruhi implies that she has her own agenda for tomorrow, as she beggingly looks around at everyone, hoping they'd disagree with her suggestion to have a day off from fun activities? Why yes, YES IT FUCKING DOES.

So how exactly did taking advantage of Haruhi's friendship in order to get the retards' homework complete make Haruhi super happy, even though she didn't get what she actually wanted? Well, it's because the producers simply didn't give a shit. And that's the moral of this season.

There's your Endless 8. You're welcome. I just saved you 3.5 hours of your life.

You missed the point of the resolution by a mile, man. Haruhi, while having god-like powers and being good at practically everything she tries, still wants to be appreciated and included by the group. She just doesn't know how to do it in a way that isn't full of bravado. Kyon doesn't understand this because of her usually blunt outward behavior, which she normally exhibits to get everything she wants. Plus, he's too embarrassed to admit that the reason he goes along with everything is because he actually enjoys spending time with her and the SOS-dan. Wrapped up in the eons of time passing by as a loop is the core awkwardness both of them have in expressing their feelings. It's not that much of a stretch, outside the sci-fi leanings -- men and women have had trouble reading each other since forever.

This is very off-topic, but I went to Half Price Books this evening. They had the official Trigun boxset (looks like the individual DVDs in a box set that holds them all) for 100.00. It's on hold under this Sunday (when the 50% can be used) and 49.99 would be under market value a bit it seems. I would hate, though, if they reprint a Trigun collection. Has anything like this been announced?

I'm going to recommend Kaleido Star. Don't let the sugary aesthetics fool you; it's got a lot of heart to go along with its simple comedy.

Oh, also Soukou no Strain (or just Strain). I can't really call it lighthearted, though some episodes certainly are. It's mechs + vengeance plot + mean-spirited school antics.

And lastly, 009-1. Cold War setting. Charismatic spy lead. Execution reminds me a lot of Big O in terms of pacing.

All three have very solid dubs and shouldn't set you back much price-wise.

It is a bit under what that set's going for... but Funi's upcoming re-release will likely include the 5.1 audio from the Trigun Remix release of the show, which would be better product. Of course, we have no price point for the funi release, so if the new audio mix doesn't matter to you, this isn't a bad deal.

This is all assuming it's the 8-disk original boxset release. If the box is tin, then it's one of the Trigun Remix boxes and only half the show. Part 1 goes for a bit under $50, part 2 goes for quite a bit more.

If it's anything other than an 8-disc paper boxset, or one of the two 3-disc tin boxsets, then it's likely bootleg and not worth buying at all. ;)

Also since you seem to like AMG, have you tried adventures of the mini-goddess? Its not the best AMG related anime, but its not a complete disgrace. Another great show is El hazard, and its other series the Wanderers, its from the guy who made Tenchi, but its not like Tenchi, other than being a semi-harem anime. (but I don't think that guy can make a Non-harem anime). Sadly, most of El hazard is out of print, the only thing you can really get at Rightstuf is the Alternative world series which is MEH at best. Another good show is Kenichi, the mightiest disciple(IMO, other opinions may differ), its a good balance of comedy with some decent martial arts action. Up next on random anime I suggest also includes Kodocha, but this show you may want to try out first, because you may not like how random the main character is. Another great show is Martian Successor Nadesico, which is a hilarious space opera. It has a great dub (it was pretty much Spike spencer's breakout role, it also has brett weaver). Btw, pretty much all of these shows I've mentioned so far have good dubs (yes some people will disagree, but those are mostly people who don't normally like dubs). Next is Nerima Daikon brothers (btw I apologize if you have some of these, but I am trying to check your list to see if you don't own these shows). Its basically Blues brothers the anime. Its a fucking riot, and the dub is great, they got really good singers for the english version (btw its basically a perverse musical anime). If you've noticed all of these shows are on Rightstuf's weekly specials, but that's because I want you to not have to pay out the nose for the anime. I also suggest Slayers, and Rune soldier, though they are not on the weekly specials, they are both very funny animes with very good dubs (the tv series for slayers not the movies or ovas, the movies and ovas had a terrible dub.)

On a side note has anyone noticed that a lot of american cartoons are in the weekly specials, well not a lot but a decent few? Including Batman TAS and BAtman beyond.

Damn I typed a lot.

Eh, the only El Hazard worth watching is the original OVA, Magnificent World. The Wanderers TV series, along with the second OVA and Alternative World, are complete wastes of time.

 Um... Evangelion?

Well, yeah, but people hated him as Shinji from what I understand, they actually liked him as Akito Tenkawa. I could be wrong on this, especially as I hated Eva (OMG, yeah, you heard me). Well, whatever that's not really the point of my post. I was just suggesting fun and lighthearted anime, the side thing was just a little extra saying that Spike Spencer was in there, and Brent Weaver. I was also just saying that aside from Eva, Spike had really not done any dubs til Nadesico, then he suddenly started doing a lot more. Granted that could also be because ADV also got a lot bigger after that point.

If it's anything other than an 8-disc paper boxset, or one of the two 3-disc tin boxsets, then it's likely bootleg and not worth buying at all. ;)

It' been announced that the Trigun set will have a $49.98 msrp so expect in in the low $40's to high $30's (a funimation sale at TRSI will bring it to $29.99)

I can't believe i didn't suggest this lilman, but you should watch Kaleido Star, people can say what they want about it, but its a very fun, lighthearted, and heartwarming anime.

Great show. Gets my vote too!

Sadly, most of El hazard is out of print, the only thing you can really get at Rightstuf is the Alternative world series which is MEH at best.

Nozomi picked up the distribution rights on Wanderers; it should be out this fall. On a sidenote, the El Hazard OVA soundtrack is amazingly awesome, if only for the song where for no apparent reason, the singer belts out (in English) "fuck-ff baby!"

On a side note has anyone noticed that a lot of american cartoons are in the weekly specials, well not a lot but a decent few? Including Batman TAS and BAtman beyond.

And Thundercats! Whee! :whee:

I'll have to say, I'm really disappointed with my $25 blind box, especially after seeing things other people got. Also kind of funny that I got the special edition of Gurren Lagaan 01, and then another copy of the CD that comes with it. Not to mention that these blind boxes were placed with an order for the Gurren Lagann complete collection, so I really don't need any of the volumes...

I already got an Abenobashi tin with my previous blind box, so I'm open to trading that, as well as the Gurren Lagann DVDs if anyone's interested.

Whoa, thanks for all the recs Gden. I've already spent a lot on anime this month so I'll have to wait before buying anymore. I do have Mini-Goddesses and Kenichi in my backlog. I'll make a note of your suggestions to look into them next time I place an anime order (especially Kaleido Star since several people have recommended it).

Batman TAS is a classic, and Batman Beyond was surprisingly well done. You guys requested more details, so here's what I got from my last order:

$10:
Abenobashi tin
The Girl Who Leapt through Time (bottom plastic is ripped and flapping in the wind, but I think the box is in fine shape, otherwise). Is this series any good? Sounds decent from the backside text.

$5:
Mamoru Oshii: Cinematic Trilogy
Eden's Bowy
Kiba: Collection 1
Gurren Lagann: Special Edition 1 (same as everyone else's - mine was slightly crushed on the bottom). I wish this set had dubs... this is a show that's a little painful to watch, sub-only. They say WAAAY TOO MUCH, WAAAAY TOO FAST and you can easily miss the subtle jokes if you're not a speed-reader!

$1:
Stress ball
Armitage figure
Ninja Resurrection CD
Princess Nine Soundtrack 2 CD
Sin CD
Gundam Seed t-shirt (nothing special, just logo on blue shirt)
Green shirt with Japanese text - not from a series... I think it's promotional or something. No idea what it says...
3 Gellade Metal plates (same as what I've seen people post before me!).

I just ordered some more $1 items and a $25 box. I hope to God I get something decent like Full Metal Panic... but I'll probably come back and post the lament of Gurren Lagann instead... dammit. I wish I had remembered to check this thread before ordering! :wall:

Curious, but anyone's thought's on the new Guyver series? Fan of the original and curious as to how it is...Plus now I want to jump in on the $10 mystery bags.

Guyver is one of my guilty pleasure series. It's actually quite good. It follows the manga almost exactly and goes through the whole of the original storyline though it doesn't really sum everything up in the end. It has decent pointless action and average action animation quality. It doesn't have fantastic in-betweens but the animation is very crisp, clean and bright. I'd buy it for the $10-15 pricepoint and maybe spend up to $20 on it if you're a fan. ;p

Yeah, you might get some repeats. I got the dollar ones again and ended up with a second Armitage figure (woo.). I'm not crazy enough to try the $10 ones again, or I risk owning a SECOND tin Abenobashi! The first one was nice... except I owned the regular edition.. :-#

Alright, Lilman, I'm actually not done on my suggestions. I can't believe I didn't give this suggestion since this anime for me is what princess tutu is for KL and Kurau is for Razzuel. I have shown this anime to 100s of people, action movie fans, people who hate anime, and people who only like ultra violent anime, and almost every single person I've ever shown it to has loved the show. There are some people who don't like it, but I've only met one of them, and that show is Fruits Basket, by the way. Gonna finish this off with 3 more recommendations, Daiguard (very funny anime that's a combo of Office space and gundam), His and her circumstances (if for some reason you don't know what this is its gainax's (the company that brought us FLCL, and eva) take on boy meets girl slive of life (btw its hilarious), and then finally Now and Then, Here and There. I swear I'm done now

Seconded on Fruits Basket (it's also got a dub that I greatly prefer to the original, can't stand women voicing men or even teenage boys). Haven't seen the others, but my #1 is still Samurai X Trust/Betrayal/Reflection, OVA's that make the series look like shit by comparison.

I didn't consider it a happy ending. It was bittersweet to me. Lala-Ru sacrifices herself, and Sara doesn't go back to her real family. The atrocities that Sara had to endure affected me, so I was hoping she would at least be able to go back to her old, normal life.

Got my blind box items- $10 was, as expected, Abenobashi- I'll probably watch volume 1, just to see if I'm as disinterested in it as I was back when it first released. It's likely to end up as sale/trade fodder. I do like the tin though- I like how the 'double-lid' look pulls up the hinge so it can be stored flat or sideways, both vertically and horizontally. Most of my tins have to be set up facing one specific way so they don't rest on the lip/hinge.

My one dollar items were the Ninja Resurrection soundtrack (meh) and an Elemental Gelade metal pencilboard. Incredibly, and much to my delight, I got the 1 board out of six I didn't get back when I bought the series! Very happy to be finishing that set for just a buck. :D

Next run-though, I'll probably get some $5 items.... not too interested in what people are getting for their $25 items. They don't seem to be any better than the 5 or 10 dollar stuff, which is pretty sad considering the price hike. If I do order another $10, I'll mention in the special notes that I already have Abenobashi and see if it makes a difference.

^^Thanks for posting what you received for your blind boxes. I feel like putting in another Rightstuf order and pad it with some $10 blind boxes to get free shipping, but I don't know if I really want another Magical Shopping Arcade Adenobashi DVD set-haha.
My thoughts EXACTLY. I want more cheap sets... but if I got TWO Abenobashi... then it'd be like paying $20 for it... cause what would I do with a second???

Oh, that's gotta be Normad (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GICyeJqPvOI/SwyHN3kzUtI/AAAAAAAAAew/28a973FCT-k/s200/19508.jpg) from Galaxy Angel... but as far as I know, no DVDs came with a Normad stress ball, and I don't recall one being sold on its own. In any case, I wish I'd gotten than instead of the soundtrack I did get. I love Galaxy Angel.

Ai Yori Aoshi is a romantic comedy series.
Ai Yori Aoshi is a super sugary sweet harem anime. I loved the show personally (not sure why), but I know it wasn't a big hit with a lot of people.
All I know is that it's a PC game... which I was kind of curious about. Seems a bit traditional and sappy from the graphics on the box... but we'll see.

I liked it too, although it had more harem then I expected. The series starts off as a romantic slice-of-life comedy but quickly turns up the harem dial. It's light-hearted and fun, and I enjoyed both the original series and Enishi.

So far it looks like they are just doing one item per mystery box. With the fact 26 episode series sets are being given in $10 boxes it doesn't really leave much for $25 that would actually be significantly better. The $25 boxes should be 2.5X times ish better and they don't really have anything around that is that much better than box sets that sold for 60-80 already. The only thing I see would be some of the anime statues and things.

$1 Blind Boxes:

Ergo Proxy Vol. 1 (I don't need another copy...)
Galaxy Angel Z Vol. 3
Galaxy Angel AA Vol. 2,3,4
Sol Bianca The Legacy

Edens Bowy Complete Collection (Disc 5 looks scratched w/finger smudge)
Shinobi Double Pack

$10 Blind Boxes

Chance Pop Session Complete Collection (already have the individual DVDs but whatever)
Gantz Season 2

Overall not bad for $50 but that Ninja Resurrection thing pisses me off. Double...ugh...so angry. Then another copy of ERGO PROXY vol 1...hate that too. Whatever, I'll probably order more $1 since I got mainly DVDs from that.

I'm pretty sure it's a ploy to make us buy more stuff to get free shipping. Note the blind boxes appeared about the same time the coupon codes went away.

It's defintely a bit of a pain, but I suppose I can't blame them for wanting the $50 free shipping to actually cost $50, not '30-ish once you put in the code'. Plus, now I can pad studio sales with items I don't expect to go on sale soon (like Toradora) and use the catalog/got anime coupons every so often. That's kinda nice, I guess...

I've got Haruhi S2 preordered for $42 (With shipping), but I can get it at Borders.com for $31 with the coupon code they currently have (But I'll have to wait a few days before release until I actually receive the damn thing). It depends entirely on if the show's available early. When Scrapped Princess first released, for example, they had it ready for pre-release convention runs... but that meant TRSI got, and shipped, theirs early too.

Lately however, it's been a lot more common for Bandai to push back release dates- I wouldn't count on an early shipment at this point.

No, TiT was complete garbage. The story was horrible and the animation looked like crap. Also it was 26 eps worth of trash. Sure the new OVA was garbage but at least it was brief. Honestly I'd rather rewatch all of the new OVA then ever see one ep of Tenchi in Tokyo again.

TiT (hahahha! Nice accronym!) was NOT complete garbage! I thought the characters were... well, really, we're talking about the ONE new character. And she was the most obnoxious new thing thrown in our faces... until you got to the end and it got kind of sweet/bittersweet. Maybe I just liked it better cause of how certain scenes resonated with me: the whole sitting by the phone and waiting for a phone call from a girl/guy? I just thought they captured a lot of emotional gold toward the end. I'll admit it was a trudge through sewage to get there, though.
Plus, the hell was Ryo Ohki about anyway? I could watch it 100 times and it still wouldn't make sense.

It's not that the code gave you $20 off, you just got free shipping when you shouldn't. For example...

Old System:
2 $25 boxsets= $50=free shipping
coupon code= 40% off= $30, and still free shipping because you hit $50 before the code.

New system:
2 $25 boxsets+ 40% pre-applied= $30... but no free shipping becuase you didn't hit $50.

It's annoying, but it's not horrible, and it makes it easier to use the catalog coupons. Like when I placed my Toradora order- I matched it with a Yen Press sale since I couldn't make free shipping with Yen Press alone, and Toradora qualified for the $4 off coupon- not a great deal, but I did still beat the weekly specical price they have right now, so I think I did OK.

You are correct. Koi Kaze is a realistic drama about the relationship between a 27 year old brother and his 15 year old sister. The writing is phenomenal, and the characterizations are amazing. Yes it's about incest, but why should that stop you? There are plenty of other unsettling things in other shows that no one seems to be overtly offended by.

I prefer the tv end. It ties up well the psychological issues of the series if not the plot point issues. Movie just adds more explosions and blood/death with a similar message and progression.

When there's no limit to what you can have your "actors" do, you get all sorts of funky, cool setups. Cat-women, tentacles, cosplay, etc. I don't personally get how anyone could stick to "real naked girls" without getting bored with all the same-same porn out there. Or to put it more simply: "Variety is the spice of life."

I just noticed that Moribito has a complete collection on Right Stuf now, and it is currently a part of the weekly specials for only $20. Yes, only $20! Why haven't you bought it yet!? You should already have this in your hands right now; that's how good of a deal this is!

Moribito: you must buy this now! (http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/ZbSDND7eNTg4LATqx8/browse/item/88951/4/153/200)
Never heard of the series... I saw some clips on YouTube just now... the animation looks SUPERB. I might watch a few episodes and give it a shot.

Except, I should say... I'm not a fan of ancient/rural Japan animes... :-#

It is the one that Wal-mart had (if you look at the cover art). Therefore expect STACKpak packaging.

For $20, I'm willing to let that slide. I'll just replace the case.

The DVD packaging nowadays is getting cheaper and less manageable. Slim cases seem to be the best of both worlds (costs little to manufacture and takes little space), so why are those being mostly ignored?

That's what I did! Couldn't match the case size excactly, though...

Discs (http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c367/PinkyLi/SANY0026-1.jpg)
And finally, The guy on Ebay I bought the case from (http://cgi.ebay.com/1-MULTI-8-DISC-DVD-CASE-CD-DVDR-CDR-BOX-GAME-MOVIE-/320399876385?cmd=ViewItem&pt=BI_Blank_Media&hash=item4a99522121).

The case feels thin, and I'm not crazy about the hubs, but it is pretty study despite the thiness, and hold the discs nice and secure. Can't say I'm unhappy with it. :D

as I mentioned before, I too hate slim designs. a lot of them lose their inserts (booklets) and other extras that the regular dvd size comes with. I can't stand owning a Gundam series from Anime Legends with just discs and one front/back cover art for the whole box or Fate Stay Night slim from Geneon which by the way I do own both. To have so little along with the discs is pretty much just as good as downloading it to watch and keep (illegal and not suggested).

the matter of fact is, to me, it feels incomplete. if your a collector like I am, you'd want as much goodies as possible and if you just want to own it, then I guess you could just go with the slim being its cheaper to buy or even go with cheapy imports.

again, this is just one man's opinion

Kannagi arrived today. The box is twice as thick as a standard dvd so I thought there might be some nice insert or little extra included... It's two standard dvd cases each with just the disc inside and nothing else (the cases even include the little holder thing like what games use for the manual, but there's nothing there). It's such a waste of space, Bandai easily could have fit both dvd's in a single standard case or used thinpacks.

All of the Funi stuff I've received recently has been thinpacks, I'm happy Funi knows the pain of storing a large anime collection.

Wait! Moribito isn't set in ancient/rural Japan; Moribito is set in a fantasy world.

Exactly. If anyone here doesn't buy it because of the packaging, then you should be ashamed of yourself.

Kannagi was first released as two separate DVDs. The complete collection just takes the two separate DVDs that Bandai already made, and puts them in a cardboard sleeve. It makes complete sense, since they can still use the DVDs they already have in stock, and it barely changes the manufacturing process.

I prefer thin and regular dvd size cases over those stackpacks. Is there a website that you can use to look up whether or not an anime set is thinpak, regular DVD or stackpack?

I also read PeepoChoo Vol. 1, but did not enjoy it at all. It was definitely not my style. But many do like it

A bit of a dilemma. I want Morbito and free shipping (so I'd probably do 30 dollars worth of Blind Buys) But I've already done one order of Blind Buys, so I'd be concerned that I'd get duplicate stuff. I already emailed support and they can't promise that I wouldn't get duplicates. Anyone go back for seconds on the 5 and 10 dollar blind buys? How did it work out?

I agree I think the $10 and below blind boxes are better deals. I was somewhat happy with my $25 blind box, but not impressed with it.

Does anyone think that most of the the items sent for these blind boxes will eventually be showing up in the daily deals regularly?

Between myself and my roommate, I've ordered 8 $10 blind boxes on my account over 4 orders, and the only duplicate I got was two Abenobashi tins in the first two orders. Sadly those were in the 4 that were mine, but I've happily traded it away already at least. CAG, Goozex, or Amazon marketplace are your friends for duplicates or things you don't want.

7 Billion Needles Graphic Novel 1

Chi's Sweet Home Graphic Novel 1
Chi's Sweet Home Graphic Novel 2
Chi's Sweet Home Graphic Novel 3
Chi's Sweet Home Graphic Novel 4
Twin Spica Graphic Novel 1

I'm most excited for 7 Billion Needles, though it's the one I know the least about.

Off topic, but how much is the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh worth? It's 6 discs, 49 episodes. I'm positive it's not a bootleg, just really old. I found it in a pawn shop. I can't find it on Ebay.

Also ordered Morbito. Good looks to whoever told posted that earlier.

EDIT: Apparently this Yu-Gi-Oh set came in a tin. I don't have the tin. =( I found ebay listings, looks like there's a BIN for 69.99. Still debating whether or not I should sell this. Are these episodes edited or are they the JP versions?

Well I took the suggestions from Raz and G-Nitro and got Chi's Sweet Home , 7 Billion Needles , Peepo Choo and Twin Spica , all Vol.1. I also grabbed Moribito which just put me over the $50 shipping amount.:)

As for Yugioh , I remember seeing that Season 1 tin set long ago for anywhere from $50-$100. Never got it since I didn't want to get an edited and dub only set (unless it was dirt cheap) but it still surprises me that 4kids would let almost anything yugioh go OOP (or not print much to start with). I guess because it was a "higher end" collector's set. Still have my 3 single uncut volumes from a few years ago , even though I know 4kids will never release the rest of the series uncut. :(

It sucks that CMX is now out of business. I've been meaning to buy the entire Emma collection, but now a couple of manga are not easy to find. I didn't even know manga volumes can be discontinued so quickly.

That's what happened to Alita: Last Order vol. 7, and now it's one of the rarest volumes to buy. Why is Viz not showing the love to re-stock their older volumes?
