Jumped right on to finish Wallflower, Ouran, and School Rumble.

Depending on next week's paycheck, I may also get Hell Girl, Tokyo Majin, and the first 2 volumes of Baccano. How is Baccano, anyway? My interest is based solely on the art of a single banner ad and that I keep confusing it with 'Bocca', the main character of Melody of Oblivion (a gulity-pleasure show for me.)

I've got the Full Metal Panic Heavy Metal Collection pre-ordered (it's Full Metal Panic season 1 plus the FUMOFFU season), so I got excited when I saw that the TSR season was on sale. Ordered it for about $36 with free shipping. Makes me quite happy ^_^

EDIT: Just went back and was looking through things, and saw that the My Santa DVD was also in the sale, so I ordered that as well.

I'm tempted to order some DBZ sets finally especially since I want to make an order for some manga.

Do they even make the Giant Robo eyeball set anymore? I was lucky and got it for like $25 a few years back at Otakon straight from MB.

$72 for a single 26 episode season is never very tempting in my book....

Beats the $108 dollars a 26 episode season cost just a couple years ago- and that's assuming you didn't want an artbox.

I do get your point, though- if it's not something you really want, first release price never seem that 'worth it'.

I liked it a lot. Definitely worth it if you're spending money on something like Hell Girl...

That's where the 'may get' comes in. My mom liked Hell Girl when it was on demand, but we missed a couple episodes. Honestly though, I think I'll skip it- I really didn't like it that much. It wasn't bad, but it had a 'you've seen one, you've seen 'em all' kinda thing going on.

Baccano remains very likely, it's not a common era for anime to visit. Tokyo Majin is based on how much I get paid for- I've got some retro pay due, so...;)

Baccano is goddamn AWESOME, definitely get it. The art, music, story, and characters are all top notch. Tokyo Majin is, more or less, a mini Shin Megami Tensei anime. To be exact, it's a series using a lot of mythological references based off of a PS1 visual novel, and its sequel continues that. Underrated, nice story and fight scenes, but it isn't tearing down barriers. Enjoyable however, if you have a solid attention span and don't mind stories that can (and will) go by fast.

You know, that's really funny. Because that's exactly what I thought of when I watched it. Too bad the second season of Tokyo Majin sucks. It's unfortunate the Persona anime didn't try as hard as Majin did.

Zewone, if the coupon code isn't taking your price off, you may as well just call them up and ask them about it. On the previous Rightstuf threads people were talking about how their telephone customer support is amazing.

I did get a chance to see an episode of Tokyo Majin on a Newtype sampler disc (before they went under )... I was honestly surprised by it, becuase I typically don't like horror-ish stuff, but it was good. Not good enough to buy singles for, but cheaper-boxset-good. I suppose I ended up benifiting from not getting the singles more than I realized. :)

For anyone who might have the artbox already, how many discs are in Baccano? It looks like there should be 4-5 based on episode count, but I'm curious to find out for sure.

Oh yeah, huh? This is what I get for posting first thing in the morning, half-asleep and trying to remember what I'm building for the kelflings today.

I doubt anyone's going to try the BVUSA thing again, seeing as they're already out-of-business for it...

Did Shigofumi get picked up again? I saw a preview of the first two episodes at a con last year, it was interesting. Not $60 for 2 episodes interesting, but interesting.

Heh.

I don't believe Shigofumi's been picked up, which is a damn shame. I absolutely loved that series. At first I thought it was gonna be like Hell Girl, but it got so much better after each episode. I highly recommend *ahem* acquiring it somehow.

Edit: Picked up by a company that's not going to die after only releasing only the first $40 two-episode, sub only DVD.

Bandai has it. They licensed it like a year ago when they picked up True Tears.

Shigofumi and True Tears were actually originally picked up by Bandai Visual- tied to, but a different company than Bandai Entertainment. They attempted to bring Japanese-style pricing to the US market. Not surprisingly, nobody really bought into the $40 2-episode sub only disc thing and the company folded.

I think Bandai Entertainment absorbed some/all of the BV catalog into their Honnamise
label, but they haven't really announced any continuation of the titles, save for Haruka: Stream of Time. There's really no telling right now when or if these titles will be announced again, or if they'll sell them to another studio, or let the liscense rot.

As for acquiring Shigofumi 'elsewhere'... I have too much of a DVD backlog to really spend time with that. *shrugs*

Got Anime is tied to the account it was bought with- you'd have to order via your sister's account to use the discount. (If you already share an account, problem solved.)

I assume that your talking about Afro Samurai and Shigurui? The sale prices on those won't show up when you follow the links. The prices will show up in the cart once you put in the sale coupon code.

Unless of course you mean that you tried to order them with the coupon code and they didn't come up on sale in which case you may want to contact Right Stuf about that if you haven't already.

Sad but true, last I checked they cancelled their licensing of it, like they did of Prince of Tennis, or maybe not cancelled, so much as said "we're never releasing any more" It didn't sell well, but if they had wanted it to, they should've sold it as 13 or 26 episode collections.

Companies have only figured out in recent months that collection > singles in terms of sales. Back when these first came out, you wouldn't have really considered it.

Email Viz every so often that you love the show and want to buy the whole thing. Considering the current fallout in the anime market, a boxset release of a show they already have must look more appealing than spending money on a new one- all they need is a reason to believe people will buy it.

(That reminds me, I should pop off something about Honey and Clover one of these days.)

Yeah , I've learned that , especially on the Monday-Wednesday 3 days sales , that its safer to check the website for the new sale then to wait for the email about the sale to arrive (doesn't help much on a 3-day sale for the email to arrive on Wednesday:bomb:.)

No, no. I mean make the statement about having to use the coupon code a different color because the people that come in here saying "the prices have gone back up" are obviously not actually reading the thread anyway and just clicking on the links.
Something like:

Links to all the featured sale items will NOT show the sale price. Sale prices will only be shown in checkout once the appropriate coupon code has been entered (exception being the Weekly Special Items , which are already set at that sale price).

Thanks for the kind words.:D Putting the whole thing together initially was a bit time consuming to type in all the vbcode and making sure the links were right and all that , but now that everything is all set up , it makes it much easier to just plug in all the new info into the old vbcode format.

As I mentioned before I'm always open to suggestions on ways to make the thread better looking , easier to use , whatever.

As for whether there is a sale tomorrow , I don't think Right Stuf ever DOESN'T have a sale. It's just more of a question of whether the sale is good or not. General the 3-4 day sales are less impressive than the 7+ day sales , but a lot of that mostly is due to the size of the companies that get featured.

It's a generally safe bet that the only days the thread will really be updated are Thursdays and Mondays. Thursdays for the new weekly sale items , as well as possibly new coupon deals. Monday will be the other day that new coupon deals usually go up. As I'm sure you've already noticed though , if the thread does get updated , or a notice needs to be posted , I'll bump the thread to let everyone know.

Not much in the ADV sale I want, I'll probably have to get something from the weekly specials to pad out to free shipping. It's kind of a good thing- that full-time postion I finally got promoted to in November? Found out yesterday our store's being downgraded and it's getting eliminated. End of Febuary, I'm forced back to part time. I need to find a new job, I'm sick of being stuck in a company that won't even give me full-time hours, let alone a chance for advancement.

I'm a little annoyed as I just spent $10 more for it. But, it's not too bad, because FMP is my favorite anime, so I'm willing to have spent the extra $10. Also, the DVD set for season 1 and 2 isn't supposed to be out til Feb 10, but I already have tracking info for the copy I ordered.

I will probably be pre-ordering Clannad at that price. With Best Buy spotty on new anime lately its not worth waiting to see if it ever comes up on the website and if it ever is going to come to stores. Which is annoying since i have reward zone money to spend. and to concur Princess Tutu is great. Its a weird little series about fairy tales and the mechanics of story telling that make for great conflict and strife between characters and the "roles" they are given and the destinies such roles seem to inexplicably lead them to. And ah well, lots of classical music and ballet. If you like point one or point 2 you should get it certainly.

Dude its never going to get dubbed, so if the choice is subbed Clannad or no Clannad, I'd take subbed Clannad in a second. Preferences between dub and sub are one thing, but some series are worth getting in whatever format they release it in.

Correction: I thought FUNimation has Clannad, but ADV has Clannad. Apologies, thanks to DuelLadyS (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/member.php?u=26791). Then hopefully ADV films will quickly lose the rights to Clannad so that FUNimation can pick it up and give it an appropriate dub. I have no idea why I thought FUNimation had Clannad. Maybe because ADV films was simply re-releasing a slew of their old titles.

Basically everything said below is before DuelLadyS (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/member.php?u=26791) made the correction.

Edits made where I could. *[*edit: ADV films has Clannad] :( Sad face because if FUNimation actually had Clannad, the chance of it getting dub would have been SO MUCH better, seeing as how FUNimation releases titles with both DUBs and SUBs. *

Not if preference is watching anime dubbed. Not if someone who doesn't watch subtitles. Not if buying a subtitle product simply means it'll stay factory sealed, collecting dust.

If sales are miserable for subtitle Clannad, the idea of getting it dubbed down the line absolutely dwindles. Yes, subtitled only releases has a smaller target audience. Releasing Clannad by manufacturer "X" also dwindles the chance of seeing a second manufacturer take hold of it that may have wanted to give it a full blown dubbed treatment. The fact that FUNimation [*edit: ADV films has Clannad]is going to release Clannad sub, shatters the thought of another company possibly giving Clannad the dub treatment. FUNimation [*edit: ADV films has Clannad] has licensed Clannad, meaning no other manufacturer currently has the right to release Clannad for region 1 territory.

There are probably a handful or plenty of past anime releases that were never meant to be dubbed, but received dubbed treatment anyway. Never say never. Here's hoping that Clannad may eventually get a dub down the line. Yeah, here's hoping. No one thought the Dallas Cowboys would get massacred by the Philadelphia during the final stretch of the regular NFL season, but things happen. Most people never thought we would ever see an African American become president. Things happen.

Niche titles such as Kanon and Air TV both received dubbed treatment. ADV films turmoil probably wasn't solely due to these releases; their downfall was due to various reasons. But being the giant FUNimation is [*edit: ADV films has Clannad], plus the fact that it appears fans of Kanon/Air TV consider Clannad to be the better of the three Kyoto Animations, giving Clannad a proper dub treatment isn't far fetched despite its "niche."

Sure economics and financial analysis dictates how something gets released. But this doesn't mean all niche titles, past or present, will receive subtitles only. A dub may have been possible if FUNimation [*edit: ADV films has Clannad] would have simply postponed this release.

Proper marketing can sell anything. Dub Clannad and market it like no other.

Umm... ADV has Clannad, not Funi.

I believe that ADV would have liked to dub Clannad, but their recent failing simply made them unable to afford it. I also like to imagine that, if it does well, we could see a 'deluxe' boxset later with a dub, most likely featuring Vic Mignogna in some way.

'Course, I agree with your reasoning for not buying it anyway. Understanding the whole economics and such behind it doesn't change the fact that you don't like subs- and that's all the reason you need.

Oh wait..it really isn't dubbed? We're absolutely sure about it? If so, I'm not sure I'll pick this up yet then. I like being able to have the show running without having to look at it for subtitles, I can just hear it in the background whenever; which is why I prefer it to be dubbed.

Yes they have been having major financial and business problems for about last year. They lost a bunch of their licenses when they had a falling out with a Japanese backer/licenser. They are slowly coming out of it, so their slate is certainly reduced compared to the past.

The American Mega Man cartoon is pretty bad. If I could get it for really cheap I might pick it up just to watch it for how bad it is. I remember watching it as a kid and liked it even though I could tell it was corny even back then. Nostalgia can't protect this show for me.

Highlight of the show that I can remember is once when Roll helped Mega Man defeat Cut Man by turning her arm into a toaster and shot electrified toast and him , which destroyed him.

It's been awhile since I've seen it myself... but I think, if you're the sort of person who can watch it and take the serious parts as such, you'll be satisfied with the ending.

Production-wise, it's not worth noting. However, if you were watching it when it came out, it's not like an 'older' looking show is going to bother you anyway. Actually, I think it fares a bit better then other shows of the same age, because of the nonstandard artstyle.

Yes, loads and loads better, though I still enjoy the first disc quite a bit. The tone of the show gets far, far darker after the first five or so episodes.

Ballet isn't manly enough for me. Sorry. :(

The ballet theme is used very skillfully in the show, but that's not what it's about. It's a dark fairy tale, and an awesome one at that. One of the main characters almost gets his hands chopped off, his family is killed by ravens, and his friend challenges him to cut out his heart, if that makes it any cooler for you.

A late update tonight , as well as an unusually short coupon (only 2 days). Thanks again to ChibiJosh for getting the word out on the coupon before I could update the thread. Didn't expect it to be so late tonight though. Tetragrammatron Labyrinth wins a special award for being the biggest mouthful to say and type.:lol:8-)

Also added a list of previous coupon sales , so maybe we can see if there's any kind of pattern to them , as well as so people can see what they might have previously missed.;) 2 questions for everyone though.
1. Should the previous sale listings go in chronological order (oldest sale at top going down) or reverse chronological order (most resent at top)?

2. Should I also include the featured items that went along with the sale or just list the sales themselves?

For once I'm also looking for opinions on some of the items on sale. Anyone know if Kashimashi or Aoi House are any good?

I was actually thinking of suggesting we keep track of previous sales. I think you should keep the format just the way it is (don't add the featured items or anything), but it might be better to go reverse chronological.

Its kinda easy to figure a story is going to be about lesbians when one of the main plot elements is a boy "reborn" as a girl. Although the story being about lesbians isn't the chief reason I'm interested in it (or maybe it is depending on your point of view. I don't see it that way).

The insight is appreciated.

I enjoyed most of Kashimashi. But the last few chapters could have been a little better(But it still ended much better then the anime). As for Aoi House I liked it at first but lost interest by the end of the first book. But if you want to check it out before buying you can find the comic online. And Ballad of the Shinigami is a pretty nice read but it can a little depressing a times(But hey it's a book about a Shinigami). So if your interested in reading a light novel you could give that a shot as well.

The manga from what I read is pretty good.

The anime is on weekly sale for 17.99.

It's a really enjoyable romance series, with lesbians if that helps you want it (it helped me want it a bit certaintly). It is subbed only, fair warning for the dubbies, like all of Mediablasters yuri fan line (which has been uniformly enjoyable ranging from great [Simoun] to enjoyable enough [Otobuku[)

Most recent at the top would make the most sense.

You can list the featured items, but if you think that there are other good deals out there in the sale (Elfen Lied was $6/dvd) or just in general (My-Hime for example), you should list those too :).

As for the sale, i don't read manga. I did order from the previous sale:

Elfen Lied 1-4
My-Hime 1-5, 7 (6 is still sold out, and i missed Sin for $7)
Le Chevalier d'Eon Vol. 2 (for the art box)

Also, as for Princess Tutu, the fact that fights end in dancing turned me off. Also, it's no longer on sale.

You kinda misunderstood the part of the question about listing the featured items. I was mainly referring to keeping the featured items listed in the past sale section.

As for listing stuff besides the featured sale items , I don't have a problem with that , but I'm going to need some help in that regard. For example you mentioned Elfen Lied at $6/dvd. If you think thats a good deal , post it in the thread and I can add that to the OP. I just really don't have the time to go through ALL the stuff that Right Stuf puts on sale or has on sale every day/week to find all the deals. All I can do is highlight the main stuff and add other things as they come up.

Bottom line , if you find something not featured in the coupon deals , weekly specials , or from the bargain bin , that isn't listed in the OP , and feel its a deal worth noting , let me know and I can put it up for everyone else to see.

Yeah, that's mostly what i meant. I wasn't expecting you to go through every single sale (unless you want to of course ;)).

Sorry if it came out that way. I've never seen the show so I can't really comment on its quality nor whether $6/dvd is a good deal for it or not.

Since I checked and Elfen Lied is still in the bargain bin at the same listed price , I went ahead and made a new sub-section for other notable deals and added it in there.

The slae is pretty underwhelming. I'm mostly looking for anime, but everything is pretty highly priced. Some standouts:

Bleach Box Set 1: $30
Prince of Tennis Box Sets 1-4: $24 each

I head Prince of Tennis was really good, so i was debating that, but there's a couple downers. For once, each box set is only 13 episodes. Another thing, these only cover the first 50 episodes. There are 178 total, and the rest haven't even been released in the US =/.

Despite being home all day yesterday , I never got around to updating the weekly specials (Got busy catching up on other things around the house). They have been updated now. Also added some more things in the "other sale items" section.

I went ahead and added the username of the person who made the suggestion to have that title added to the "other sale items" section. I wasn't sure whether anyone would think this is a good idea or not though. If nobody likes it I can get rid of it. The only problem I have with it is it makes the listings a bit crowded. Maybe colorize them so that the title/price/username don't all blend together?

I have the whole ZOE series (picked up in individual volumes from the Right Stuf bargain bin some time ago) but have only watched the ova , not the series. If you liked the games it's still supposed to be recommended to watch the anime since it ties into the events of the games.

Only other comment I can really make is in regards to the package itself. The thinpak collection doesn't come with any of the extras of the individual releases (which is normal for a ADV title). If this doesn't bother you then I would say the thinpak collection is a good deal.

Well that's reassuring , for me since it's annoying to list a sale running a certain date only for them to end it earlier , and for others I'm sure since it makes it harder to know when they have to get their orders in by.

FYI , I don't plan on updating the thread for the netcomics sale (completely).I will still copypasta the sale info link into the thread and change the title listing to prevent any confusion , but I don't have the time ATM to update the OP when the sale will go off tomorrow , and have to redo it again thursday. I will update the thread appropriately for thursdays sale.

Very Late Update to the thread. Right Stuf isn't helping me much as I didn't even receive the weekly update and coupon sale emails until like early saturday. On top of that , I never even received the one from the digital manga publishing sale , which is partly the reason I didn't update the thread for it (I know I could've just gone to the site and checked there but it makes it easier to remember to update when I get the email).

In any case , the coupon sale and items have been updated , as have the weekly specials.

Do you (or anyone else for that matter) happen to still have the email or remember what the percentage off on that sale was so that I can add it to the OP in the past sale section?

Sonic X deal has been noted and added to the OP. I was trying to hold off on buying Sonic X , since I didn't really want to support the 4kids version of the show in the (admittably slim) chance that an uncut version of the show might be released. Since that seems hopeless at this point , I might as well get the show really cheap at least.

Meh, it's a sale on Yaoi Press titles. I was really hoping for a Bandai Sale today. I wanted to get some Code Geass(finish up the anime and catch up on the novels and manga) stuff and pre-order Gundam 00 part 1(probably the LE). But this current sale is only for 2 days... so maybe next time.

I believe that theres a Code Geass manga in the weekly sale items this week. Can't recall exactly though.

Own it, haven't watched it. I'm waiting to watch death note first, are the movies sequels or remakes?

They're heavily watered-down remakes, putting the first half or so of the anime into about 4 1/2 hours worth of flim. (The whole Near/Mellow thing is cut completely, so it's nice if you're an L fan.) You really need to sit down and watch at least part of movie 1 first to see if you like it- a lot of folks didn't like the heavy story cutbacks and the B-movie setup. I enjoyed it, but I have little experience with the anime/manga.

Yeah, I've never seen the original Sonic X, but from what I hear, the US version is needlessly butchered. Just scenes missing for no apparent reason, or edited to be worse. A shame. I think I'll hold out until I need filler for shipping when I'm buying other stuff. They seem to have a ton of Season 5 or 6 (well, 65+, which is good enough for me to wait it out a bit) I really don't wanna pay shipping on the sets.

It's not a bad sale. I think i may get Blue Submarine #6 for $12, Code Geass Part 3 for $24, My Otome Zwei for $18, and the rest of the My-Otome series for $40.

Still, the sale has a lot of good series' on sale. I don't don't about most of these, but i've heard of Planetes, Freedom, Big O, Crest of the Stars, Eureka Seven (only part 1 tho), and a bunch of others. I'll wait for comments here before buying anything, i got time.

For me I'm probably gonna be getting a bunch of Gundam anime. I only have one gundam series in my collection (the two volume 0080) and have been itching to get and watch more of the long running series. Or at the very least get a few of the ones I've already seen and like (such as G Gundam).

It's not a bad sale. I think i may get Blue Submarine #6 for $12, Code Geass Part 3 for $24, My Otome Zwei for $18, and the rest of the My-Otome series for $40.

Been meaning to get Crest of the Stars. Might also get Eureka Seven , but perhaps I'll just wait for Anime Legends Vol.2 to come out. That way I can just grab both together.

Also I <3 Big O. It's like an anime Batman with giant robots. If you don't mind the cliffhanger ending after season 1 and don't care too much
about the story I would consider skipping volume 2. Although there are still some really good episodes/fights in season 2 , more of the episodes are slow and story intensive. The story also gets a lot more confusing in season 2 , and the ending is kinda wishy washy. But despite my displeasure about parts of season 2 , I still like the show a lot.

Stay away from Destiny... pretend it ends at the last ep of SEED.

Thanks for the tip , I've seen Seed and thought it was alright but wasn't sure about destiny.

Stay away from Destiny... pretend it ends at the last ep of SEED.

Destiny was total rubbish -- fun to watch when nothing else was available but really inconsequential in terms of storyline and uninspired Gundam design. And what the heck was with the fake Lacus? I mean, really?

Anyways, here's my final order after coupon:

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion DVD Part 3 (Hyb) Limited Edition 1 $38.99
Evangelion, Neon Genesis CD Soundtrack 2 (*) 1 $4.00
Evangelion, Neon Genesis CD Soundtrack 3 (*) 1 $4.00
Evangelion, Neon Genesis CD Soundtrack: The Day of Second Impact (*) 1 $4.00
Fruits Basket CD Soundtrack: Four Seasons (*) 1 $4.00
Gundam SEED DVD Collection 1 (Hyb) - Anime Legends 1 $29.99
Gundam SEED DVD Collection 2 (Hyb) - Anime Legends 1 $29.99
His and Her Circumstances CD Soundtrack Act 2.0 (*) 1 $4.00
Item Subtotal: $118.97

Total Savings: $25

I'd normally buy the non-limited edition Code Geass bundle, but decided to splurge because of the included Soundtrack Vol 2 (which I absolutely love). Makes me sad that I didn't buy the first Limited Edition box set as it also included OST 1, but couldn't justify the extra cost at the time since discounts were only going ~30% at the time.

Getting the complete Gundam Seed collection for $60 is $1.15 per episode, which is a great deal considering I'll show my kids this someday and a pretty good series regardless.

BTW, if anyone has the Code Geass OST 1 from the first Limited Edition box set for sale or trade, be sure to PM me. ;)

Now if I could just finish watching Gurren Lagan, Tsukihime, and Kino's Journey on top of this season's offerings...

They've restocked with plenty of Hell Girl vol. 2 if anyone is interested. But now #6 is low. All volumes are $5 each. The cover art and art cards are wow. Too bad not many have given this series much thought. Selfishly, I now want everyone to buy these so Funimation will acquire and release season 2 so I can finish out the story. Not that season 1 ends poorly. Futakomori just rounds it all out for Hell Girl's 3 workers and fleshes out their backstory.

I've only ordered from them twice, but my first order of a few different series with artboxes was perfectly fine. Forget the fake Lacus since she was was nice to look at.The characters I had problems with was the lead character(at least for the start of the series) and then bringing back a certain character from the dead. Granted SEED did that as well but it was far more believable.... well less unbelievable anyway since... His suit didn't explode in space. Also they ruined Luna towards the end of the series too. The only nice things I can say about GSD is they gave us a hot spring scene and it gave us two captain boobies. XD

Also, that first CG LE was worth it. It came with the 1st vol of the manga(Which is actually ok), Drama CD and the OST. Can't wait to get my hands on the Vol 3 LE since it comes with vol 1 of Code Geass: Suzaku of the Counterattack.

Oh, there were many reasons to dislike GSD -- thank you for saving me the time of enumerating them all. ;)

Now you wanna talk about a screwy Gundam Series.... WTF is with Gundam 00 Second Season? You wanna talk about people getting killed then coming back? It's like everyone has several lives, save for the Gundam Misters (they haven't really died yet). Everyone's freakin' chompin' down on 1-Up 'shrooms or something magical like that.

Yea, I'm still kinda disappointed I didn't get 1st LE -- especially consider how much I adore the series. I'll work on rectifying that in the future, so long as I can find them at a good price.

I heard that Code Geass R2 had Blu-Ray releases. I'm really curious to see the pricing of those babies.

Thanks for adding these. Hell Girl vol.2 is currently OOS with one of those check back things. I hope mine's been set aside already. Can you also fix the price. It's $5.00 each but you list as $6.

(http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/qW=fgX96Dn6qoEpQPS/browse/item/71165/4/0/0)46 qty.

Not for everyone. It's out there, but something about it hooks you (me anyways) in. Kind of tribal. but not really. Susumu(?) has a way with sounds. Some might not liking the retro'ish synths, but it's the vocals that transcend. If you liked the Paprika soundtrack you'll probably like this one.

Fate/Stay Night DVD/CD combo (http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/e8NuraxVpVWrL6Zx-7/browse/item/82301/4/0/0)

I freaked when Mushi-Shi Vol.1 was running low last time and quickly bought the whole 1-6 set. Nice that they restocked. Way better to get the single discs as the new thinkpak boxset collection does not have all the dvd extras. Gotta love the booklets and art cards with the individuals too.

How much $ to pad? That Fruits Basket CD Soundtrack: Four Seasons is $4 since you like the manga and presumably the anime.

For anyone looking for something quirky that's not animated... I blind bought The Great Horror Family ($10) and have gotten up to ep 4 so far. It's a 13 show live action japanese series that is pretty funny with horror elements thrown in. The gist is family buys a house, gramps dies, stays as a ghost and guides eldest grandson on saving the family from said cursed house and the spirits that are drawn in. Cheesy effects, yes, but it's meant to be and it works very well.

I didn't expect much from it, but it's quite enjoyable. Well worth the ten bucks since about everyone else is selling it for retail under $40. Though I read somewhere that it was found at Big Lots for $2.99.

$6 for Witchblade? Thats a pretty good deal. I picked it up when they had the DVDs for about $10 each. It was surprisingly good series.... and not just for the fanservice.

My weakness is being a TopCow fan, and actually reading the comics of Witchblade and The Darkness, so I had to have it. >_>

My shipment arrived (save for Code Geass LE 3, which is back ordered).

It's pretty amazing that the two Evangelion CDs have a sticker saying "Find out how to get a free CD! -- Expiration date: Sept. 2004"

Wow, now that's some old stock.

I do like the Fruits Basket anime a lot, and especially the OP, but it was so long since I last watched it that I forgot whether the rest of the music was worth $4.

I ended up getting to $49.23 with Fruits Basket vol 22, Mushishi 1-6 (although 2's counter said OOS, it still let me check out...), and the Mono CD "Under the Pipal Tree" from the Bargain Bin. Since I didn't preorder vol 23 I'll probably be back in June looking for ways to get free shipping again, heh.

Freedom is pretty average, but FLAG and X TV are both fantastic. FLAG was probably one of the best titles released in the last year.

So, I've been staring at this sale for days now, and I'm wondering if I should pull the trigger on Witch Hunter Robin and Crest of the Stars. Witch Hunter seems wildly YMMV and Banner of the Stars looks to be long out of print, and I don't want to start and not be able to get the middle section. I really liked Bebop and Elfen Lied, and I'm a sucker for space stuff. Any thoughts? Also, X TV looks really interesting, but are the remixes going to be thrown together into a box set soon, like Bebop?

Witch Hunter Robin probably isn't worth a blind buy. It has its moments, but not enough of them. Crest/Banner of the Stars are impressive space soap operas, but they can be pretty dry at times. And since Geneon is kaput, unless Funimation license-rescues X TV Remix, it won't be getting a box set.

Some of my favorite Bandai-published titles include:

Big O/Big O II
Cowboy Bebop
Escaflowne
Eureka Seven
Fantastic Children
FLAG
Jubei-chan
Planetes
Wolf's Rain

You may want to investigate those to see if any of them sound interesting to you.

Thanks for the recs, I actually already have Freedom box set on Blu-ray (along with most of the other bandai visual titles) and think its awesome.

Which reminds me, what are the likelihood of #2 and #3 coming to Blu-ray?

Big O/Big O II
Cowboy Bebop
Escaflowne
Eureka Seven
Fantastic Children
FLAG
Jubei-chan
Planetes
Wolf's Rain

These too, which would you think are potential Blu-ray double dips? I think there are unsubbed and undubbed Blu-ray versions of Eureka7 and Cowboy Bebop in Japan IIRC.

There's something about the character designs and animation style of Witch Hunter Robin that bugs me. The crappy 3D CGI does not blend in well with the more traditional flat looking art and ends up as a distraction. I watched the first disc and am in no hurry for the rest -- the story didn't hook me either.

Toward the Terra was pretty good if you want space stuff. The series spans many years as the protagonist and antagonist become lifelong enemies as they hold strong to their beliefs about humanity and justice. Connected characters help shape their ideals in different ways.

Whoops, I forgot about Toward the Terra when making my list - thank you! Excellent show, but I'm holding off for a cheap collection later this year or early next year. Ditto for Code Geass, though it's not quite as good.

Thanks for the thoughts. I'll pass on Witch Hunter, seeing as how I picked up many, many things during the Best Buy sale. I'll keep your suggestions in mind after I plow through some of my stuff, including Planetes, Escaflowne and Bebop. Still, I can never pass up a deal...

Yeah looks good :)

I was going to pickup FLAG too but did not for a couple of reasons.

- #1 its relatively recent so possible Blu-ray double-dip fodder
- #2 from the description it seems to be a Japanese animated adaptation/re-envisioning of the American 'flags of our fathers' story from WWII, whose imagery in reality helped motivate Americans to stick in the war and defeat Germany/Japan - which altogether seems a bit bizarre to me.

Anyone have any reccomendations from this new Aurora sale?

Basically looking for:
* Stuff that likely won't be on Blu-ray (made before 2005 or SD mastered)
* Stuff that is relatively mature in tone/content
* Stuff that is good
* Scifi/fantasy preferred

I have none of the Aurora discs, any ideas?

Kinda looks like they jacked up the regular discounted prices for this 'sale' though. Ends up only slightly cheaper than before based on a random sample of plushies and other knick knacks.

DuelLadyS

If you read the whole thing, it says it's up to 32% off MSRP, and only 10% off their normal prices (which is standard for the in-stock sale.) Why they wrote it up this way is beyond me.

Generally, this can be a good way to save a tiny bit extra on some manga... but the difference is only a few cents, and it doesn't work on all of it (Del-Ray, for example, seems like it'll come out a few cents more.)

I'm skipping it- the only stuff that'd be worhtwhile is the second half of Sugar Sugar Rune, which is Del-Ray and not in stock. I'll be focusing on the Gamedays sale at GS and my upcoming anime con next week.

Chibi_Kaji

I forgot about the Gamedays sale at GS. I'll definitely hold off on this and wait for the next Bandai/Funimation/whatever sale since the deals are much better during those sales. Not to mention I ordered most of the stuff I wanted already...

Can someone please list the codes for the previous Fall 2008 catalog coupons? I didn't get a chance to jot it down before the new Spring 2009 one was posted. I think those were valid 'til the end of April. Thanks.

Also...

Two most relevant coupons from the The Right Stuf Spring 2009 Catalog :

$5.00 OFF any Blu-Ray disc (#: W24-02) exp. 10/15/09
$5.00 OFF any Funimation Viridian Box Set Coll. (#: W24-04) exp. 10/15/09

note:
Not sure if you have to enter the "#:" part since I've never used one before, but most likely not.
