Went into a Gamestop I usually don't go to, bought a 6.99 PS2 game Kuon that after coupon was like $4.54. The cocky check out guru said, "Kuon, what's that?, never hear of it", then asks me "When are you going to upgrade to a PS3". I said it's too expensive, and keep in mind, I'm buying a $4.54 game here. I said I have a 360 that is working just fine. He then fired off "Oh, well how many times have you had it break down on you"

My answer, "0".

He then says, "well, mine has broke 5 times and then I got a PS3, you'll see the light".

I said, "Give me my game, bye". Left store. Contemplating contacting Gamestop to inform them of such a crappy liar/store employee.

Not only is he a bad liar and condesending, he is trashing a company that from the looks of it, has MUCH more store shelving space than his beloved PS3. Now I'm not against a PS3, and I love my PS1/PS2, just no need yet to get a $400 system (hey, maybe Killzone 2 changes that), but why he felt the need to belittle a 360 and it's user, AND try to convince a customer who is buying a $4.54 game to jump ship towards a $400 purchase is ridiculous.

End of rant, thoughts? Comments? Fire away!

Well in all honesty I'd believe him. My 360 broke in FOUR months and Microsoft expected me to pay 250 to fix their craptastic hardware. And how about Kotaku where they have had ten broken systems in less then three years? The truth is the 360 hardware is pure shit. People just have a hard time accepting it OR they just say BUT THE GAYMES! I'll admit it has good games, but the hardware risk is bull.

I think you're overreacting.

I'm on my fourth system. My PS3 has given me no problems. The only reason I keep my 360 is because most of my friends are on XBox Live and the online service is better. The PS3 has pretty much the same games AND blu-ray playback. If I didn't have an online service, I'd probably just stick with the PS3.

But everyone's different. He was just giving his opinion. He didn't belittle you, just the 360. He's bitter because his system broke down so many times. I know I am.. I'm on my fourth system, personally.

how did he lie?

and again, I'll have to bring up the sensitivity... did this generation get coddled off the tit at double digits or what?!?

It's simple chit chat... simply ignore it... and be glad that you don't know him personally/don't have to be with him for more than a few minutes.

I also love how shitty the dvd drives are and how they only cover the red ring despite the console having a ton of other hardware flaws too.

Really? Grow the fuck up. It amazes me how some people get pissy when Gamestop employees speak their opinions. He didn't force you to even look at a PS3, unless you're an MS fanboy there is no reason to get upset.

Feel free to call corporate, they'll be happy to know he was trying to make a sale.

I agree that the employee was a jerk but when it comes down to it, he's a salesman. That's it. He was trying to sell you something that you didn't already have. If you said, "I already have a PS3," he would have tried to sell you a PSP, and so on and so forth.

It might be an indicator of how well PS3s are selling at that particular location as well. That employee maybe under some pressure to sell systems, PS3s in particular. GS employees are pressured to sell all kinds of merchandise in a short amount of time or else they are docked pay by limited hours. We've all heard the same old story before.

For example, when GS had the "Trade in your PS2 for $100 towards a new PS3" promo going on years ago, I called up the store closest to me and asked if they had PS3s in stock and if they knew about the deal. I was told yes to both questions, went into the store with my PS2 in hand, and was then told that the "deal ended a long time ago" even though it started that day. I went to another location, explained what happened to that employee, and he said the guy was a jerk and that he knew of the deal. Subsequently, the jerk employee did not work much longer at that location after this incident AND I still got the deal I wanted. All in all, just tell them a polite "no thank you" and walk out of the store. Look at this way, at least you don't work at a crappy company like GS! ;)

STFU and go complain elsewhere. The employee did nothing wrong and was only trying to be personable. When you have a real complaint come back here.

Sadly....:( I work at a gamestop part-time only (thank god),and I would only give
my opinion (personal) if asked, not being as a Gamestop piegon. I remember an old
manager saying this..."What's the best system?" I said.. "for who me?" He said "yeah"
I reply "360" this bastard said "wrong its what ever system we have in stock!!!! So
I'm suppose to sell a bunch of broke a$$ Gamecubes LOL, glad I don't work with that
idiot any more. Point of the story "Don't be belittled by a Gamestop Employee or
Gamecrazy or anybody else your the consumer don't forget that!!!"

Next time tell him you want to put some insurance(PRP) on that game.
Or take twenty used games to the counter have that bastard get all the games
put them in the case then be like OH CRAP THESE AREN'T FOR MY SYSTEM.

I'm a gamer first, salesman second.

Write it off as a kid making himself feel better about his own purchasing decisions by trying to pressure you into the same.

I could swear it wasn't that long ago you'd be pressured into a 360 over a PS3.. wonder what changed?

Agreed! This generation is way too sensitive.

Sensitive is too nice of a word to describe this gen... but it's probably the most polite thing you can say.
