NBA 2K9 League #2 3 Games due by 1-31=)

Since the last one failed terribly I'm making another league. I'm holding spots open for players from the last league who actually played their games. I'd like to limit this to eight teams and I think we'll be playing each other 3 teams, except there will be one team you only play once, with a four team playoff. The goal for this league would be to play at least two games per week. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I'd like to make this have the same settings as the last league, so we will be playing with default sliders (unless someone has a good set) on All Star difficulty. Does anyone remember if we played 6 or 7 minute quarters?

If we are able to get through this I will throw in a prize for the winner. I'm not sure what that is right now, but it will at least be an 800 MS point card.

On another note, right now Stephen Jackson and Monta Ellis are on reserve on the latest roster update. Does anyone know if I'll be able to add them in my lineup to play with in this league? If not I definitely do not want to be the Warriors. One more team to go.

I was also thinking it would be nice if we had each of the other seven teams on our friend list so it would make it easier to get a hold of each other to play games. It'd also be cool if people traded in this league.

Yeah, it's frustrating. I've been participating in CAG leagues since the 2K5 sports games and none of them have ever finished. Well, the NCAA 09 dynasty finished 1 year, but I was forced to drop since my game stopped working.

Hah, no I just don't have the time I won't be home and if I am I probably won't find the time. But after Thursday which a player had already stated can't sign up until (RROD Clippers - no exceptions ;)) I will be done with classes and can sign up and play. Not to mention, in the old league, I picked up a team which someone ditched and quit and immediately played and won 2 games. So there's no need to worry about my trustworthiness. I gotta admit that 20 teams was a bit greedy on my part and the people that were signing up and didn't even show up to play a single game was really disappointing. I hope you're joking about the 10 shots in the paint rule. As you know I like to play the inside game with West and Chandler, or drive with CP3, and if you collapse there go to Peja and others outside. I don't like to run up and down the court all the time.

Usually by this time I am on my 11 or 12 year.

Anyway, its going great my team is a mix of new and old players but most likely generated players that i edited so that they actually turn out good. Useally I make 3 superstars (clones of Bron Bron, Kobe, T-Mac,ETC) then some niche guys like pure shooters or pure slashers or bangers. That way there is a steady stream of good players coming into the league.

I havent played in a couple days but I know the top score is a made up guy who just dominates. SF averaging just over 30 points. Shit is tight.

Do you play 82 games? Sim any of them? How long of quarters? To play 82 game seasons, even on 5 minute quarters, to that extent must give you little time to play other games. That's fucking dedication. I have too many games, I guess, and not enough of an attention span.

If you hit X on any of the menus to bring up help, it will scroll the help options where the sports ticker is. I've had to do that on a lot of occasions because everything isn't listed in the manual :bomb:

By the way, do you guys mind if I use this thread just for general NBA 2k talk? I would use the NBA 2k9 thread but it seems like all the people who would actually talk in that thread are in here so whats the point?

I play 56 games, 8 min qrt and I play 2 games a week (in game). So if I have 4 games, Mon, Tues, Thurs, Sunday I pick 2 of them to play and sim the rest. With 56 games that rarely comes up. So I would guess I play about 80% of all the games.

But thats how I am about sports games I rarely ever start a season over and I never play sports games online unless its a league and thats rare.

I get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing a guys entire career unfold and seeing where they go and what happens to them and the team they are on.

For example the Cavs in my dynasty is not the team to crush on.

Steve Nash left 1 year and Amare left the year after because the Suns drafted franchise players at both of their positions and started to split a lot of time with them in game. Which pissed them both off. The Cavs having just cut 4 of their 5 starters crushed the free agency with massive contracts and signed them both. No idea how Joe and Billups got on the team.


For me sports games dont get interesting until about 5 or 6 years into the dystany mode.

I play 82 games and sim none. I can't stand to play and sim. I have a franchise to play and one just to sim all games and do the GM stuff myself. But now I see how you could get through all that already.

In my franchise, the Cavs are the team to crush on- two losses to my Bulls by 17 and 33 points, with Rose going for 40 and 45. But it looks like the real game isn't going that way tonight.

I have played with the guy that has red ringed and I think it would benefit everyone here if he gets the time to join tomorrow. Trust me, he will play the most games out of all of us and even when my game disconected on him, he was ready for a rematch immediately. A great waste if he can't join the league.

Ok, it's reset. The goal when we started this league was to try and get in 2 games a week. So if you all could try and play a couple of games by Friday that would be awesome. I knocked out three the first night to hopefully help get the league off on the right foot, it's up to everyone else now to try and get some games in.

I have been playing 5 on 5 team up games for the last 2 days and it has been sweet....when it wasnt lagging like hell.

Things I have found out...people online can not play defense worth shit. I was playing as Greg Oden in one game and I had 12 blocks with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The next game I was G.Wallace from the Bobcats and got 6 steals and 5 blocks.

I am out there killing cats man. When the next CAG league starts I want in...and if anyone drops I want to take there spot.

I had a horrible shooting day. My backcourt could penetrate but Garnett and Perkins were blocking shots, and I could not hit a jump shot to save my life. Weavshow had some shooting trouble as well but he was raining threes and Rondo was killing me with layups. Good game.

No I didn't see it. I don't see anywhere where I can enter in a score. I can reset a game, but I don't see where to manually enter a score.

You can't manually type the score but you can give the win manually. It should be in the same drop down list where you choose to reset a game.

Also I want to remind everybody that if you want your league games to be counted on the 2K website you MUST do the following:

- Make sure the team you are playing against is in your queue
- When you're ready to play against your opponent select the SEND CHALLENGE option
- Do not....and I repeat, DO NOT PICK THE SEND CUSTOM CHALLENGE option. 2K does not
recognize custom matchups simply because in this setting you can modify the play time, sliders, rules,
etc. Basically rules that are not within the league standards.
- When you want to play against an opponent and the only option available is "send custom challenge",
that means that your opponent is not in you queue

Hope this helps until 2Ksports finally goes with full flex scheduling and not this queue crap :)

You can't change your que and all games in the first round (which is five games) must be played in seven days then it just automatically advances to round two. I just checked out my queue and I was able to remove & add teams. The only time I got an error was when I tried to add a team twice (ex: Vs Suns and @ Suns). Make sure you remove your completed games from your queue. Also, I would advise all to leave an empty slot in your queue in case somebody wants to add you.

After playing some games in this league, I've come to the conclusion that the Celtics are way overrated. At least, the fact that for some reason nobody suffers almost any fatigue means that their biggest weakness (aka Eddie House and Tony Allen) never gets exposed. Anyway, in the spirit of making this league more competitive, I'd happily trade Garnett or someone to one of the not-so-populated-with-talent teams (no offense, Golden State) for a decent big man and a decent guard. Just a thought.

It's my second PPV, I went to WM23 when it was here too, but the Rumble is always the one PPV i order other then WM every year so Im pretty excited, plus I got pretty good seats. It's a local live MMA event I'm going to. A few notable names, plus Tonya Harding is supposed to fight. That's worth the price of admission right there.

Well I had a nice 0-2 start to the league. Garnett almost had a triple double getting 8 of the Celtics 13 blocks, and against the Cavs I fell apart in the second quarter and lost by double digits. Played Juan nearly even in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th.

I just played Weavshow and finally finished a game. However, I lost by three. I was down by about 15 very late and made an incredible defensive run going on probably a 13-0 run. When I was down 3 with 13 seconds left I ran it down the floor. Right before taking my 3 with 6 seconds left, the guy fouls me and I drain my two free throws not allowing me to tie it and it was basically over. Good game, lol :applause:

It's like the dumb kid on Madden who called me a $$$ and a pussy for running down the clock in Madden and then kicking a field goal when I was only up by 5. Sure, I'll pass it all day long so I can risk throwing a pick 6 or giving you the ball back with enough time to score and win.

Fouling and stopping someone from being able to tie or win the gamer isn't cheap, gay, or stupid. It's smart strategy. Insulting them afterward is just rude. You will lose games. Unless there's actual cheating going on, just take it like a man and keep on going. A loss here and there won't hurt anyone's chances of winning the league title.

You played much better this time around. I couldn't pull away in the score up until the 4th quarter. What kept the lead was that I was coming back at you immediately whenever you were making a run or hit a big shot. Again, good game!

I just played MSUHitman and we had a damn good game. It was back and forth the entire time, I don't think any of us got up my more then 5 or so. It was tied with 4 seconds left and Nash drove through traffic for the game winning fingerroll. 84-82 final.

GG. I wish I could of hit a shot outside the paint in that game. I was 2-15 from 3. I fell asleep for 1 second in the final minute trying to get a steal and Grant Hill hits the 3 for you to go up 1. That changed the whole game.

Intentionally fouling a shooter before they can put up a 3pt shot is part of basketball and good strategy. All you can do is try to get it to the open man before you get fouled and if you do get fouled to hit the FT and then play D.

Yea that was a big moment right there. I made a crucial mistake at the end. You had fouled Nash intentionally while I was running out the clock, and he had a chance to go up by 3 with ft's. I made the first, but missed the second and Shaq got the offensive rebound. I wasn't expecting that at all and passed it back to Nash by mistake. I could have backed it out and tried to run out the clock since there was only 9 seconds left or so, but I freaked out and threw up a brick which you rebounded and got the quick timeout. You then ran a nice play and got the tying basket.

I just played Weavshow and finally finished a game. However, I lost by three. I was down by about 15 very late and made an incredible defensive run going on probably a 13-0 run. When I was down 3 with 13 seconds left I ran it down the floor. Right before taking my 3 with 6 seconds left, the pussy fouls me and I drain my two free throws not allowing me to tie it and it was basically over. Good game, u cheap Bastard :applause:

I just saw Dudizzle's post, and I'm quite sick of this guy rubbing it in win he wins and the constant badgering of people who wear mics. I've sent him a warning that if he keeps this up I will replace him in the league. He said it himself that there are plenty of people wanting to join. If anyone has any problems with him again please let me know. This is supposed to be a fun league, name calling and poor sportsmanship have no place in this league.

I know I quit a game but I never insulted my opponent, and he got the win, which he deserved.

Apparently you and a couple other people passed me by after the league largely became inactive. My mistake. I was in the lead for a while. I played 6 games, really, just had to replay 2 of them- 1 with you and 1 with Hitman.

Like I said, if anyone wants to play tonight after 8:30 Pacific, assuming my friend and I don't do anything after leaving the hockey game, I'll play. Otherwise, tomorrow from 2 P.M.-5 P.M. (have to be done by 6) or after 8:15 is good.

I rarely ever play sports games head to head online because it always boils down to how much cheese can we fit in this. But today I decided test the waters.

Out of 10 games only 1 was worth playing. I played the Cavs, Bron Bron had 46 points.....didnt take a single jump shot the entire game just drive and dunk and the worst part about it is the game let him. Every time I went to guard him the game would do a Auto cross over/auto round the corner/auto whatever.

Other than sim leagues online sports games are a waste as all the basic fundamentals of the sports are thrown by the wayside.

Yeah I don't really play this game online against random people that much. All the players in this league are cool about that stuff. I've played the Lakers twice in the other league (because one of the games got disconnected) and the Cavs in this league and nobody really does the drive move every time with Kobe or Lebron. This is a really enjoyable league as everyone is fun to play with. If I play someone random on time I'll just make sure they don't choose the Lakers or the Celtics before I agree to play, that is how I've been successful in getting some decent games online.

Ugh, I hate this 2k shit. Me and the Weav were just playing a pretty damned good game with a few minutes left in the fourth. Our connection is lost and now I get to try and play the game of my life again. He was pulling away in the fourth I'm sure he was going to win but atleast it was entertaining. For some reason I was down by 6 or 8 and it gave me the win. I'm not sure why that is but I think I'm just going to reset it and we'll try again later.

Like I said, it is not a problem. I need to schedule some concrete times for games between Wednesday and Saturday since I need 3. I can play pretty much all afternoon on Wednesday, and from 2-3 P.M. Pacific till *uncertain* on Thursday and Friday.

While I didn't get to play a league game last night, seeking achievements, I played my first random last night in a ranked game. He was a pretty cool guy, a fellow wrestling fan from NorCal, so we had a nice Warriors vs. Lakers (me) battle. I blew a 10 point lead, and we traded 1 point advantages in the final 2 minutes.

With Kobe mobbed upon receiving the inbound pass, I drained a baby hook with Gasol with 2.6on the clock. I got a block with Bynum as time expired to win 83-82. Epic. Good to know one can still find good people and players in ranked/random matches, and I got 2 achievements- One Ranked Win and Team 2K, both of which you guys all probably already have.

Yeah, we got kicked off the first time we tried. We played a second game after that (custom match) that we finished though. I got off to a hot start, and then we played pretty much dead even for the rest of the game. The early cushion helped me pull it off, although it got pretty tight in spots. Juan or Franky, if you could give me the win (vs. Pistons) when you get a chance, that'd be good. Also, the game Franky and I got disconnected near the end still needs to be reset. Not sure what 2K's logic on that one is. I can see counting a disconnected game, but considering they list the score correctly, not sure how they decided I should take the loss.
